Heart broken didn't even cover it. A numbing chill beyond any frosty bite the mountain had nipped the group with on the way up washed over Cynder, her eyes staring longingly at the purple dragon. Watching the living Spyro mannequin from eons ago sacrifice himself for her just like her true beloved would had torn her up beforehand, but it paled in comparison to this. This was her Spyro. It was! She knew it wasn't another mirage or trick, this lilac scaled being sitting there, staring up at her with big glossy eyes... it was the real Spyro. But, somehow, Li managed to rip out her heart and laugh its dry maniacal pitch and leave her bleeding in its unforgiving wasteland once again.

All the chatter was muffled in her ears. Plans of descent, notes on how odd the draconic pairing was, the wail of the frigid mountain bellowing at the mouth of the cave... none of it reached any comprehensible language in her mind. For a moment she could swear the wind cackled with Malefor's voice.

Fighting back tears the dark dragon's mind whirled with ideas to try and trigger some memory in Spyro that would bring him back to her but... She was grasping at straws. He was too young, far too young, which left her with nothing. Cynder finally broke from her frozen daze, whole body tingling with emotional stress to the point she had no physical sensation of touch or temperature. She looked away from Spyro.

"It doesn't matter," she began, finding her voice partway through as she made to mentally distance herself. "Let's just get out of this hellscape." Cynder found she was unable to step away just yet, all of her efforts going to steeling herself. It hadn't even occurred to her that there was someone missing from their trio. Though it was likely for the best the annoying yellow fly wasn't around to jab.
