Shaymin agreed they should leave before those wolves came back for sure. Shaymin declined to comment further on Paula's insistence that death was so little. She did not understand how such a young girl can view such a dark thing so lightly. Humans in her world understood the concept way better than Paula seemed to. Still, she did not want to speak further about it. Just because a rescue could happen doesn't mean they should depend on it.

And then Shaymin felt a deep chill run through her body as a powerful gust of wind suddenly hit her. The wind had a ton of force for a breeze but Shaymin only paused for a moment. Though she did not resist the pain she was able to bear it long enough to steel herself from flying back. She may be light but she was determined as she managed to brave the wind.

Still, the suddeness of it was not absorbed and Shaymin's body was chilled. The Hedgehog was not stunned for long however as she made herself keep moving through it.

Paula was always such a cheery girl. It was honestly somewhat baffling really, how she managed to find a silver lining in practically everything. Even now with this odd conversation of death the young lady was happily asserting there'd be no worry should anything happen to their group here as rescue from comrades back at the Life Sphere would surely come. Half a laugh escaped Cynder, warm air snorting out of her nostrils in a trail of smog swiftly carried away by the winds. It brought a curl of a smile to her face thinking about their psychic friend and how seemingly true her words were considering the trio of them had rescued those frozen in the cave elsewhere on this mountain.

With heightened spirit Cynder continued trailing along behind the larger dragon a bit of warmth returning to stave off the cold as they went. Sadly just as she was becoming accustomed to the deplorable weather it managed to get worse. A cry from Paula was barely signal enough for the icy punch that came careening into the dragoness' face wholly unprepared. With a small yelp she was knocked back, unable to catch a grip the force rolled her along with it a little ways until she was able to get enough of a hold in her scrabble to catch something. Talons bit into the frozen ground beneath the blanket of white causing an abrupt halt; but it was much better than being carried away.

Now covered in white flakes swiftly melting on her scales the arctic chill of the blistering winds once again seeped into her body though this time it felt as if it went as far as her bones. She remained low, half buried in snow for a few moments to collect herself and prepare for another round of freezing her way up this god forsaken mountain. Shaking, first to rid herself of snow and droplets of water and then just plain shivering from the cold, Cynder made to regroup with the others that had braced against the sudden bellow of the mountain range. Miffed, she couldn't help her outburst following.
"I hope you're not lost," came the saucy comment. Almost immediately she half regretted the tone that came with her words directed at the Dragonite, but she made no effort for an apology right away.

The girl and even her dragon were struck with a mighty blast of wind that caused them to stop in their tracks for a moment. Sweet mercy of Arceus that was cold! Colder than the fresh brewed ice cream she'd made with Cynthia! Cold enough that it burned, badly. Iris sheepishly stuffed her hands into her lap, curling up a bit to try and protect her body from the cold. She didn't have a low pain tolerance, but this was the variety of chill that could snuff most life off the face of the earth. One had to wonder why the wolves were out hunting when a storm this bad was coming. Perhaps they were desperate for food.

The first thing Iris and Dragonite noticed once they'd finished recoiling from the cold was a voice in their heads. The duo decided to reply in kind, as it was easier than trying to speak over the wind. When they thought it was in unison, with an almost voice of the legion effect to it. ("It's almost like we're one and the same, isn't it?") they asked in an amused tone, apparently taking no offense at having been called creepy. ("We're not always in perfect sync, but when we are, sometimes I forget I'm me~") the duo went. Iris seemed to giggle to herself. However, their perfect sync wouldn't last forever.

("...Your optimism is well appreciated, by Iris at least. Yet, there is a truth we cannot ignore. There is always the chance they cannot find us. There is always the chance that even if we are rescued, we won't be the same. It would not be the first time. To treat death so lightly... taunts fate. Knowing the pain that would be left in our wake, I cannot make light of death.") Dragonite explained. It was an oddly soft thing to hear coming from the brute's mouth, at least assuming someone knew him. Perhaps he was more eloquent in his thoughts than with words. Iris seemed to find Dragonite's words unnecessarily harsh, but she did not disagree with them. She didn't like thinking about death, it seemed.

Iris was drawn from their thoughts by Cynder's words, leaning over Dragonite's arms to gaze upon the other. She smiled brightly, seemingly haven forgotten her despair and disappointment from earlier. ...Or had she? It was difficult to tell without the ability to read her mind. "Well we're kinda lost!" Iris replied, probably to at least one person's distress. "'Cuz we don't know where to go, but I bet we'll find our way if we keep trying~" Iris went on to explain, apparently unfazed by the danger. "We've just gotta get up to the height I saw him at. Then we can start looking." Iris would finish after a moment in a determined tone. It was, perhaps, alarming that they hadn't even begun their search yet--at least according to her. But what else was to be done?

Meanwhile, the winds did not let up. It was going to be a painful journey.

Dragonite sounded odd when he said that Paula treated death so...Lightly, Paula shrugged as she continued to listen to him and Iris through telepathy. However When Dragonite and Iris started to finish each other's sentences...Paula decided to stop using telepathy for now as she looked at Cynder who said a saucy comment towards Iris about being lost...Which she was right, because they were lost, Iris said that she saw the person at the top of the height, so once they reached there they look for him...That Is If they can get past the dangerous winds first.

Shaymin's body was steadily adapting to the winds. Not only did she take the last bit moderately well, the continuation did not slow or phase her. In fact, she felt pretty warm all things considered. Her Frostvine made the cold feel relaxing to her for some odd reason. A feeling she never thought she would associate with the cold instead of the sun. The flower that was natural to these climates sparkled in Shaymin's hedge as she marched forward.

Shaymin wasn't really paying any more of her money into the conversation of death. Honestly, the Gratitude Pokemon would rather stop thinking about the price of failure for a moment. If she got distracted the Frostvine might stop helping her resist the cold.... Wait... What did Iris just say? "W-we don't know where we are going?! The dragon could not even be where we are going?!" Shaymin said as she stuttered a little as her shock briefly made her cold but she quickly recovered with a visible sigh.

"I guess it is to be expected... It is unlikely he would be in the same place..." Shaymin resigned.1d20+1

The happy-go-lucky reply she got was wholly unexpected. Cynder's eyes shot up to Iris; wide and almost horrified. The dragoness froze, stunned, in mid walk. For a moment the cold was nothing to a wash of fury and panic that crashed over her in a stroke of sudden heat.
"You mean we're..." she trailed off, Shaymin picking up her concerns in a louder fashion. They were lost. They were just skipping around one of the most dangerous areas of Li in hopes of finding a path to the top. Mountains like this were deadly. The ground under her feet right now could be a few inches of ice just waiting to give way into a jagged chasm of frosted spears and darkness. Suddenly she felt very cold. Colder than she had ever been -- equivalent to being an icicle in that cave. Vision blurring as her eyes coalesced with the chill of the mountain. Cynder shut them, twinge of pain screaming out as she recomposed herself.

The group continued to walk. It would be foolish for her to depart back down the mountain to safety alone, and it would just paint a yellow stripe down her spine should she suggest them all to turn around. Shaymin had a point: it was rather unlikely the dragon Iris had spotted before would be in the same place. Maybe he was closer now, not so high. At the very least hopefully not dumb enough to be out, open to the elements, and had instead found shelter somewhere. A puff of blackened smoke sputtered from her nose as she quietly huffed at the thought. That could make him harder to find but, at least he'd be safe... er.

As they continued along the winter storm gave no indication of letting up. Paula was pushed by the winds just as Cynder had been earlier, causing the dark dragon to scurry closer to the psychic to offer aid. The determined girl just got right back up without hesitation, inquiring of their estimated progress. Cynder herself took a look up and around them, noting the melded field of drab grey just everywhere. The ground transitioned nearly perfectly with the sky making it nigh impossible for her to even guess the edge of the mountain side.

Iris leaned forward into the wind, peering into the blinding snow. To see through a snowstorm--who could do such a thing? She and Dragonite had to make an ... educated guess based on how long they'd been traveling. "I don't think so..." Iris mused aloud, pouting at no one in particular. She then hesitated a moment to observe Shaymin and Cynder's ... fear. That brought a frown to her face. Maybe she shouldn't have been so honest? Perhaps entrusting the scaling of a mountain to a little girl was a questionable decision to begin with, but Iris certainly wasn't about to let that hold her back.

"No need to worry girls! I know exactly where we are! It's just where we're going that's unclear." Iris reassured apologetically. She then pointed over Dragonite's shoulder. "That way's back down the way they came..." she pointed out, shifting to point ahead of them. "And that's the way to the top! There. We're not lost--not really." she went on to announce somewhat proudly.

Before Iris could continue, a blast of powerful storm passed through the group.

Dragonite was unfazed even still, and Iris felt only the tiniest shimmer of pain from within her little nest in Dragontie's arms. His warmth must have been doing wonders for her. "Woah... Is everyone okay? It feels like that storm is really picking up." Iris asked, unsure how well the others were doing. Not everyone had a big warm killing machine teddy bear to help keep them warm.

Paula looked at Shaymin and Cynder, they started to get worried about the situation the group was In, that and coupled by the fact that Iris did not seem to know where the group Is going only made matters worse. Paula turned towards Iris and Dragonite as they said that If they keep going up they would eventually reach where the purple dragon was supposedly at eventually.

"Iris, are you really sure you know where your going, the storms getting worse, don't you think that If the dragon was supposedly up there he would have taken shelter In a cave by now?" Paula said, as she tried to resist at whatever the storm had In store with her.

"Uh oh, now It's getting even worse."

Paula was hit greatly by the storm, but managed to look completely fine and she didn't even fall on the snow, although she was concerned about the weather getting worse, but she has an idea to help the group find a path towards the heights.

"I could try to light my fingers so we wont get lost In the storm, the only problem Is It can easily blow onto someone and set them on fire due to the wind...Fate Is definitely not on our side."

Shaymin was almost ignoring the cold winds. In fact, despite the little shivers she seemed relatively unbothered. Was the Grass Type getting that used to the cold winds already? Seems doubtful considering how many Grass Types despise the cold. Then why was she feeling strangely warm and at home? "Embrace the cold..."

Shaymin blinked for a moment and looked around before realizing the voice was in her head. That was odd, that did not sound like Sky... Though it was a bit similar, Land knew Sky long enough to tell the difference... Maybe she was hallucinating... She has to distract herself from the cold for a moment. "I really don't think wandering around out here is a good idea. The storm is starting to get unbearable.... If only we had a more clear direction..." Shaymin argued before muttering.

"You must become the cold..." There it was again with it's cryptic message... What did it mean? Well, now the Frostvine on Shay's back was glowing a bright blue too... It definitely wasn't doing that before. Shaymin sighed before addressing the voice in her head. "... I am guessing you mean use the Frostvine... Fine, but what is your name first?"

"... Frost..." That name was familiar... It could not be the Glaceon so... It was the Frostvine?... Well, it did grow in the cold so maybe it would be helpful. Shaymin exhaled as she focused on the crystal flower on her back. In a short moment Land's entire body glowed a bright blue. The form grew similar to Sky Forme but it had a few notable differences. There was blue crystals in his ears, a crystal petal scarf, crystal leg armor and soon would appear the brighter body, blue spikier hair and bright blue sparkly eyes. "... Finally, the cold atmosphere and me are one again..." The Frost Forme stated outward.

Somehow Iris' basic explanation of how she knew where they were didn't bring much comfort to the dark dragon, and it signaled even more voices of worry of the group's current predicament. But not before the storm made sure to remind them all it was a force of nature; and it was not happy. Luckily at the time the wind picked up Cynder had been passing a large rock blanketed by iced snow, making it a nice large windshield. Of course out of reflex the dragoness still made to shrink up and protect herself with the membrane of her wings but overall this round of the storm versus Cynder, Cynder won. Shaymin also seemed to be bearing the cold rather well. The same could not be said of Paula.

The young cheery girl was a tough one, no one could deny that, but the toll the storm was having was starting to become apparent. Involuntary shivering and rigid steps amidst the hidden stutters of concern were hard to miss. The gust of wind thankfully didn't put her into the ground but the psychic's resistance could just be she was already partially frozen.

Shaking loose some of the sticky flakes Cynder pondered her item store. Unfortunately she somehow managed to never accumulate any healing items, so that option was out. She didn't even have any fiery items, though... She did have a freezie. Would the icy encasement protect versus the chilling assault of the storm? It probably wasn't much of a viable plan considering it was very temporary and then they'd have to find a way to carry Paula. Dragonite was big but he was already cradling Iris. She just didn't have anything! And her breath weapon would easily be overpowered by the blistering gusts surrounding them. There was only one thing she could do: cuddle.

Cynder hopped over to Paula, unfurling a wing and doing the best she could to wrap the wide spanning membrane to cover Paula's back and far side; maneuvering of course to try and shield the side that was taking the brunt of most of the storm's angry blusters. It would leave Cynder less protected, but her friend was in more need of the extra protection than she was at the moment.
"Go ahead and light your fingers if it'll keep you warm," Cynder spoke in a comforting tone. Hopefully the bit of shielding would help keep the flickering down so long as the digits were kept close to home. The dragoness did her best to keep pace with Paula as they trudged through the snowy wastes.

"Shelter would be nice but... we have no idea how long this storm is going to last so I guess..." she paused to sigh and shiver, "Getting as far as we can for a more favorable spot would be best."

A blue glow drew her attention away from the cold girl, eyes snapping to the shifting form of Shaymin. The flower morphed into the glowing shape and out came a form of Shaymin Cynder hadn't seen before. Instead of Sky this was some sort of frost type, of who seemed relieved to be in their current weather. A faint smile trickled across her scaled face, glad Shaymin had a solution to the cold. It seemed the near death experience in the cave was going to pay off in this mission.

Luckily, Cynder seemed to have a plan. People were quite warm, and in the absence of a dragon shaped coat Paula would be just as beneficial to her own survival as she was to Paula's. Honestly, Dragonite could have probably carried all three of them had he been so inclined. This, however, was probably just as good. "Hmm... I guess you're right! We might be able to catch up to them if we find that cave!" Iris shouted, undeterred by Paula or Shaymin's lack of confidence.

Paula was trying her best to withstand the cold, but eventually with the help of Cynder she managed to get warm, with the dragon saying It was ok to use her fingers. "Thanks." Paula said to Cynder as she lit her fingers alight. "At least we handled the issues with the cold, for now." Paula said as she turned towards Shaymin, who turned, into a new form that she hadn't seen before, a frost form which amazed Paula. "Wow Shaymin, that's actually amazing...And cute, but In a strong type of way." Paula said as she turned towards Iris.

As more wind blew towards the group. "More wind, this mountain really wants us to not reach this dragon." Paula said as she braced herself for the wind despite the damage she received.

"Brace yourselves!"

Fortunately It didn't bring too much damage to Paula as Iris suggested they find a cave since Cynder was not sure how long the storms last. "Yeah, It takes awhile for storms on this mountain to stop, and even If they do stop another storm might happen soon after, hopefully the dragon's ok." Paula said as she kept trudging through the snow as she remained close to Cynder.

The Frost side of Shaymin simply walked through the storm with no action against it. He was pretty unfazed by the weather and remained calm. Unlike Land he seemed a lot better at keeping his cool than the other form was. Nor was he trying to be cool like Sky. He merely shook his head in reaction to Paula. "Cute is not a word I would describe me as. I am but a cold breeze in a storm. The dragon is right though, waiting it out is pointless. The weather shall not let up," Frost spoke before looking around.

"... I have an idea. You three continue on. We shall be back," Frost added as his body seemed to fade away. The ghost type went into the mountain, easily passing through it, out of the storm for a moment. He quickly tried to search around the mountain's inner workings for some cave system. He did not have long to pull this off as making use of his ghost powers tended to be exhausting and he had to return in a short moment less he lose them and tire himself.

Despite still taking some time to properly adjust to walking whilst practically embracing someone the two's combined bodily warmth, plus Paula's nice warm fiery fingers, was definitely having an impact on the chilly touch of the elements swirling around them.
"Don't mention it," she replied warmly to the psychic's added thanks. The dragoness smiled up at the girl for a second then dropped her attention back to their surroundings; mostly. Part of her mind was still mulling over some other way she could help get the human girl out of the cold's harsher reach. Currently there wasn't anything other than half-baked ideas floating in her head as she peered through the snowy mists swirling about the group.

Shaymin broke this concentration, however, with mention of '... we'll be right back.'
"Wha-where-?" was all she could get out before the pokémon shifted phases and disappeared. It took her an additional moment to remember that Shaymin's different transformations were different personalities. A flag of mild concern planted on the dragon's face, lips curling back for a moment. Cynder wondered just how busy that mind of Shaymin's was getting with the addition of this new flower personality. That, and hopefully she would come back with good news; wherever she disappeared to.

"Let's try to cover a bit more ground before this storm really gets treacherous," suggested Cynder shortly afterward. Of course the dark dragon would only move as fast as Paula wanted, or could, travel in the thick snow cover but if possible a hastened pace could hopefully get them to a more promising area on the side of this cranky behemoth.

Iris leaned over to glance at Shaymin for herself. Cute? ...Eh. She was often told she had a strange definition of cute, but calling Shaymin cute was lost on her. She just lacked the sort of ... life that she'd come to expect from cute things. If anything, Shaymin was a tad spooky now! "...This mountain picked the wrong girls to fight! We're just getting started!" Iris remarked cheerily, unaware of just how badly Paula was doing in comparison to her allies. All it would take was another setback and one of them might never reach their destination.

"You know who else is really cute, like--in the strong way?" Iris began idly, a topic that was lost on Dragonite. Girl talk, or some such. "Cynthia's Garchomp!" Iris would blurt out in a moment. "She's just so adorable, I want to hug her every time I see her!" Iris went on to gush. In all honesty, she wanted to mention Cynder too. However, that thought only brought back some rather uncomfortable memories. She was too afraid of another rejection to risk the comment, but could be observed pouting at no one in particular.

The icy winds once again cut into the duo, with Iris barely feeling anything at all for once. Dragonite must've been shielding her from the direction of this particular blast. The duo quickly picked up on Cynder's intentions though and Dragonite picked up the pace to try and cover some more ground!

...And while the two dragons made a good effort to pull ahead, a problem arose. Paula couldn't keep up, thwarting their efforts. How unfortunate. Perhaps the poor girl was simply reaching her limits?

Meanwhile, Shaymin is able to discover a great number of 'caves', but a better question would be which of them are actually exposed to the elements. Many were simply pockets of air within the rock, and the group was apparently still a fair distance away from the correct cave, as a quick look around simply wasn't going to cut it. Perhaps if Shaymin had a bit more time, or got a little bit luckier with her investigation... "Is everything alright over there..?" Iris asked, just a tad concerned for her allies.
