"Demons?"

He paused for a second before replying. 

"Wha-- No!"

Pac-Man kept his guard up until the admittance of defeat to which his body gave an exaggerated sigh, his frame slumping downward with his arms hanging loosely.  He grasped his legs and let out a breath of relief.  Picking himself back up, he watched as the tentacles things spit out all the cabbages she had took.  Not quite sure whether they were still good to eat but it was a good start.

Seeing no more conflict between the two, Pac-Man walked over to her.  Upon reaching her, he looked her over.  With the tentacle things that she was attacking with gone, she didn't look like much of a threat.  Then again, if they left as easily they probably reappear just as fast.  He was still learning about the various other types of people that walked the Life Sphere but from what he understood, she looked to be a kid.

Great, fighting a child...

Pac-Man placed a hand to his mouth and held it there as he worked on where to go from here.  He wasn't sure where that Big fellow had gotten off to so this left it up to him. 

"I'm sure we can get you something.  I know a few good spots around here.  Shoot, I've got more than enough back at my place.  What do you like?  Cherries?  Strawberries?  Oranges?"

Now that he was out of the action and idle, his hunger began to creep back up on him.  It didn't help that he was talking about food either.

Desco just looked at pacman with a wide mouth and sparkle in her eyes. "Reaaally? That's really nice of you.." The young demon girl walked towards Pacman, ready to follow him to wherever he was going. "I'll eat any fruit! Girls have to treat themselves with sweet food. That's what Big Sis says anyway." She looked back at the cart, but the big cat and cart driver were nowhere nearby. Had the cat gone to find him? Desco wasn't sure, but her curiosity didn't last long anyway.

"So.." Desco started, looking at Pacman again. "You aren't a demon? So are you some kind of alien? Desco just got here today but she thought all the strange characters were just other demons. Is that why you are so strong? Most demons cannot stand up to the power of a Final Boss like Desco." While looking at him for a reply, Desco realized she didn't actually know his name. "By the way, what is your name? Desco's name is Desco!"

Are you some kind of alien?

Ugh.

"No, not an alien either." 

He wasn't sure how to respond to that question.  He could ask the same for everyone else here.  Probably should've had something ready with it being asked so many times.

"Let's just say I've dealt with my fair share of final bosses," Pac replied, followed by a wink.  How many had it been now?  Three? Robotic replica, ancient ghost, evil scientist. He wasn't sure if he could count some of those others times or not.  He put his hands together and stretched them out in front of him.  "The name's Pac-Man.  Nice to meet you."  He quickly dropped the flexing and extended a mitt for her to shake.

"Your first day here, huh?  Well, we should look into getting you somewhere to stay."  He took another moment to think before continuing.  "You can crash at my place if you want," Pac threw a thumb back towards the housing district, "It's not much but it's something.  I'll look into getting something set up for you.  Shouldn't be too hard."

"I may have a few guests float by every now and again.  You're not afraid of ghosts, are you?"

Desco took Pacman's gloved hand with her own, gloved hand and shook it. She liked this funny looking yellow ball with a face, arms, and legs. He was being awfully nice to her offering Desco food and temporary shelter. The young boss shook her head at his mentions ghosts. "Desco knew plenty of Ghosts in the Netherworld. Unless they are reaaally spooky, Desco thinks it'll be fine?"

She idly looked around as they walked. "What Desco really wants to go back to the Netherworld. Big Sis might start to get worried if Desco is gone for too long.. Do you know how to go to the Netherworld? Or to Earth? Desco's Daddy lives there, and he could open a portal into Hades for Desco." Desco raised a finger to her cheek. "If Desco could find a Rosenqueen's, they would know how to travel to other Netherworlds. But they might not be willing to share."

While concerned about her own problems, Desco was also curious about Pacman. "So you aren't a demon and you've fought other final bosses... so you must be a hero! Desco is surprised, as she hasn't met very many heroes and you aren't like what she imagined. Desco defeated the Prism Rangers with Big Sis and Mr. Valzy while taking over Earth. DesX was there reprogrammed to be a Hero too. But... she's never stopped to talk to a hero before."

"Can't say I do, kiddo. Sounds like you're stuck here like the rest of us."

He wasn't sure what the netherworld was or a rosenqueen or a Hades. It was like she was talking another language to him. He continued to listen, however. It reminded him of when he first arrived here. No one having a clue what you're talking about. Talks of eating ghost and having a diet consisting of dots. Lots of funny looks. Maybe he wasn't the only alien here.

"Heh, you could say that."

Back home, yes.  Here, he wasn't so sure.  He hadn't really had to pull out the hero card in a long time. It had been over a decade since he had really been in any real action. There was the occasional ghost outbreak but it wasn't anything he couldn't handle. Usually he was just sitting back at home providing and being the family man...

Pac-Man went quiet for a moment, staring at the ground silently and walking alongside her.

"What were you expecting? A knight in shining armor?" He teased, glancing over at her. "Can't say I was expecting you to be a final boss." She didn't radiate big bad evil guy (or girl in this case) vibes he had encountered before. She did give him a nasty lick though. Her act was more cute than anything although he had a feeling she wouldn't like to hear him say that. He smirked and let out a chuckle.

Desco nodded enthusiastically at Pac-man's suggestion of shining armor. She made wide gestures with her arms, make a short pose as she presented a new idea, "Yea! Or a young lady knight who has great skill called the Chosen One. Or a superhero, big beefy guy in tight spandex that flies and has super strength! Or teenagers who summon robots to fight Desco in! Even a dark, edgy hero with an eyepatch that uses the power of darkness but is actually a good guy and popular with all the girls. There are lots of hero types in the books Desco read."

Pacman not knowing she was a final boss, Desco decided to go into her backstory. "Its what Desco was created for! You see, when Desco's Big Sis was little, she wanted to take over the world and have a little sister. But Daddy lost Mommy, and promised to her that he would grant Big Sis's wishes. So he made Desco! Who could be Big Sis's Little Sister, and take over the world! And we just did not that long ago!"

Pac-Man looked over at Desco again.  If what she was saying was true then this could be trouble.  He thought for a moment before replying, "If you are big and bad as you say you are, you might want to keep a lid on it.  Pretty sure most folks around here wouldn't take too kindly to that."  If anything did happen, the fact that he may be housing a criminal wouldn't look good on his record.  "Try not to cause any trouble, alright?  I'd really hate to have to come back and deal with you again."

Nearing the housing district, Pac-Man propped up a question for her.  "Why don't you go out and help some of the people around here?   There's always work to be done around here.  Maybe go on a mission and try it out.  With the magic fireballs and," he paused for a second unsure how to describe the next one, "... tentacle things, you seem like you could handle yourself out there.  There's usually a team at your back too." He was hoping the proposition was sounding enticing.  It would be at least one less thing he had to worry about. 

The yellow man stopped at the first foot of a lengthy flight of steps.  He looked up the staircase to make sure no one was coming down before taking a seat on it.  He slid up against the wall on his side and gave Desco room to sit down if she chose to.

Desco just shrugged to Pac-Man's first comment. A Final Boss is not supposed to be revered, she is one to be feared by the masses. But she didn't want to bother her new friend either. Whether he liked it or not, Pac-Man was already looking like a friend to Desco's mind. "Desco will try to not cause too much trouble, but she can't make any promises! She can't help it if heroes challenge her to combat. With so many humans around here, there are probably more heroes that will want to face a Final Boss."

She just crossed her arms when Pac-Man suggested helping people and going on missions. "You mean like an adventurer, like a novice hero? Desco doesn't know about that.." Desco crossed her arms. Going around helping people wouldn't help her image as a Final Boss or really help with her more immediate problem of food. Demons weren't charity, and she didn't consider that she might get paid for the service. "That doesn't sound like something a villain should do. What if people start thinking Desco is a hero? The duty of a good Demon is to strike fear into the hearts of humans, that's what Mr. Valzy says. We exist to drive humans away from the darkness, by showing them the depraved depths within. If she started helping people in a human world..."

"So what if people start thinking you're a hero?" Pac-Man's voice picked up a bit. "Would you rather have everyone around here looking at you in a bad light?"

Right after saying that he got a feeling she might actually like that. He closed his eyes and put a hand over them, rubbing them. "Look," he took his hand away and sounded a tad annoyed, "think about it this way. I'm not trying to cause any trouble around here. I've already been through my fair share of stuff and I'm just trying to move on with things. If you're out and about causing trouble and someone finds out that I'm letting you stay over at my place, it's not going to look good for either of us. I'm more than likely getting kicked out and well," Pac-Man looked over at the street for a second before looking back at Desco, "you're back to being on your own again.  Possibly worse."  Pac-Man let out a sigh and slumped backward. "I'm not asking for much.  Just try and keep your head low with this 'driving away the humans' mess, alright?"

"At the very least, give it try."

He was starting to have second thoughts about this offer of his.
