Variant Rules:
• There will be a 1 week deadline between mod posts. Anyone who falls short of the deadline before my next mod post will be skipped and, in combat, your character is likely to be hit by all attacks coming their way. Failure to meet this deadline three times in a row will get you booted from the mission and your character may be subject to an embarrassing defeat, bringing much shame. If you know you will be incapable of meeting a deadline, let me know beforehand.
• This is an event mission, so it will not count towards your current mission count.
• Signup with as many characters as you like, and without worry of how many slots are taken. All Time Travel event missions will have their rosters carefully picked through so that every member will have at least one character involved in at least one mission.

Mission Brief:
“Jolly good! So glad to see that so many of you have been accomplishing missions to the fullest ole boys and ole girls and everything in between ole! I have a very dire request however, you see. In conjunction with teaming up with the dear ole Professor E. Gadd, quite a lovely fellow indeed, great conversationalist; there is a task that involves going back in time. Turning back the clocks and giving a go to the past, to recover something ancient, something dreaded, something....essential to our survival of today.”
Toadsworth rubs his chin and ponders the severity of the mission. Hoping those signing up for such a thing are fully prepared for the worst and do whatever it takes to get things done.
“There's a chest you see. One that was left in Porky's ole Factory just after it was thought to be abandoned. There were several warriors including Shadow, AIM, Quote, Zero, and the one known as Skull Kid that duped the evil incarnation of a powerful sorcerer that harbored dark and demonic powers known as Vivi. It was noted upon their return from the mission that Vivi was defeated back in the day, and vanished upon the group besting him.
Afterwards, a chest with a daunting and eerie aura was found in the cave, but nobody could move it and make it budge despite their best efforts, so it just, sort of...disappeared. How or why is uncertain, however, some in that group back then stated they could still sense its energy going in and out whenever they traversed that factory again, but never could find it. I fear eventually it made itself virtually undetected for all of eternity going in and out of dimensional rifts unable to be found or claimed. For good reason mind you ole beans."
Toadsworth made a look of concern, twirling his mustache and leaning against his cane as he droned on in thought.
“We need that chest you see. We must recover it before it shrouds itself with dimensional magic. It must be opened. It's said to contain artifacts that will help with combatting a deadly new strain of Starvia that has been plaguing those as of recently within the Life Sphere. Mother Brain; possibly the most powerful creature on the planet known to feed off of even the Starvia itself for its strength, having an unlimited supply of it, is said to have had a hand in creating this new strain with its abilities against us. Along with an army to do its bidding."
Toadsworth pauses, imagining how terrible the future would be if this issue were not fixed. He sighs.
“I wish I could tell you how that chest can be opened, but you'll just have to trust your instincts I suppose. It is my understanding that on that fateful day when Vivi was defeated, the mission report stated there was another energy in the underground cave of that factory upon Vivi's defeat. A powerfully good energy that seemed present but did not show up to fight. Perhaps finding whatever energy source that was, when I toss you whipper snappers back in the isles of time, could be located and make itself known?
The biggest concern is, where I drop you in that time rift at the factory on that dark day, will be at the tail end of the fight with Vivi. There may still be those same warriors from the Life Sphere present. I must warn you that you CANNOT interfere with their battle! It could create unfathomable consequences. And to get there....I have this!"
Toadsworth taps his cane several times into the ground of Sunshine Circle and several Toad servants bring in a very large white container done up with a special golden Mushroom Kingdom Symbol acting as a padlock clasping around its latch. Toadsworth then turns his cane at an angle and taps the Mushroom atop it, revealing a hidden key coming out of the end of the cane. He then places it as a perfect fit into the lock and the container opens. The servants take a few steps back and eye the contents in aw.
“Inside this container, as you now see, are special necklaces with Mushroom shaped hour glasses. There is a button on the back of the mushrooms that will instantly transport you to that particular place in time in that very same factory...er...cave of the factory. With the help of E. Gadd and some other top notch Life Sphere scientists, they perfected my little inventions. But you must know that you don't have all the time in the world to complete your task.
They only have enough power to send you to that destination in the past for only a short time, and if the sand within them runs out, you'll be teleported back here instantly. If we don't retrieve that chest and its contents, there's no telling how bad that new strain can get in present tense my friends. You tap the button again when the chest is retrieved and it will bring you back here with the chest upon its discovery IF the sand is not fully poured upon finding it."
Toadsworth massages his back and shakes his head feeling his age.
“I'm old...and tired. And quite frankly I don't know how that nutty professor keeps ticking these days. Maybe huffing that ectoplasm stuff he has collected with that Waluigi character fighting those Stoo ghosts kept him goin all these years. Either way. I'm retired, but they chose me to debrief you because at this particular time in the past I was the head of the Toad Police Force and knew the most about it before Captain Falco took charge. I warn you, if Vivi sees you, you're as good as doomed. So tread carefully brothers and sisters and all souls alike, I, and everyone here at the Life Sphere, wish to see you back in peace and this new Starvia insanity dealt with."
Objective: Retrieve the Ether Chest.
Sub-Objective: Find the Hiding Hero.

• Toadsworth's Travels, Pocket Edition: A palm sized journal that Captain Toadsworth documented his life journey in when he was fighting evil and accompanying heroes along all walks of life as a wee shroom. Chalk full of hair rising and suspense ridden adventures as well as descriptions of amazingly strong enemies and secret strongholds. Several maps from many kingdoms and forgotten lands, hidden locations of treasure troves and hideaways, and all sorts of villages and pit stops with strange and magical residents that helped him along the way. Who knew he was such a badass? This has a one time use. Upon opening this and reading it, the user learns a new Primary attack to add to their moveset. Additionally this also gives a perm stat increase of +1 to their INT stat.
