[Nostalgia]

Off in one of the buildings in rainbow square, behind covered windows and with hushed voices, the cake-eating competition was prepared. Rows of tables filling the space as Lumas bustled about and helped Rosalina set up seats for all the participants, each and every one with a well sized starbit cake on a plate in front of them. Hanging over head were lamps glowing brightly with cosmic light, the rays dancing over colorful balloons and streamers decorating the rest of the room.

With cheerful music playing in the background Rosalina moved to the back of the room opposite the front door, looking over the room with a satisfied smile. Hopefully it would be enough to pick some people's spirits up after... certain events. All that was left was to wait for the heroes to arrive.

As the participants would arrive they would find themself surrounded by excited luma's and a chorous of "Welcome!", "Thank you for coming!", and other greetings, Rosalina giving a humble wave to the first few. Despite her normally stoic nature she found herself smiling, this may be a fun day.

Once all of the participants had arrived Rosalina floated up slightly at the far end of the room so all could see her. "Hello everyone! I'm glad you all could make it. I know you all have alot to do, but hopefully this can give some nice respite to it all" Rosalina announces, smiles out over the participants.

"This will be pretty straight forward, everyone gets a cake, try to eat as much of it as you can! If you finish first, you win, and if no one finishes, the one that ate the most wins. But don't worry about pushing yourselves too much, this is all for fun and everyone will get a prize, even if you don't win. So, is everyone ready to get started?" Rosalina finished off with a hint of excitement in her voice.

Undyne stood in front of the entrance to the building in which the contest would be held. The windows were conspicuously covered, as if the people inside didn't want anyone looking inside at that point. With that in mind, it seemed like all that she could do at the moment was wait, which was...well, it was boring. The only thing that really proved engaging was a conversation she had with a duo of strangers.

"Oh, hey, Kazooie, check it out," Undyne heard a voice say. She turned her head in its direction, and saw that it was said by what appeared to be a bipedal bear, accompanied by a red bird. They looked unfamiliar to Undyne, but judging by their looks, they recognized her somehow.

"Oh yeah," Kazooie spoke in a sarcastic tone. "If it isn't Aran Ryan 2: Electric waif-aloo."

Undyne gave a confused tilt of her head. "Aran what now?"

"Kazooie," Banjo interrupted. "First off, we don't talk about that guy. Second, be nice." He then turned his attention back to Undyne. "Sorry, miss, my friend here can be a little snarky at times-"

"Understatement of the decade."

"-Don't worry, she doesn't mean it personally. Anyway, I'm Banjo. This is Kazooie. You're Undyne, right?"

"Yeah, I am. How'd you know?"

"It's complicated. Anyways, you're here for the contest, eh?"

"Yep. Are you two here for it?"

"Hell yeah we are. And we're going to win, right Banjo?"

"That's more determined by luck than anything, Kazooie. In any case, good luck, Undyne."

"Same to you, man."

The three eventually entered the contest building, and were greeted by warm welcomes. It was a nice atmosphere, and Rosalina seemed quite chipper. Banjo and Undyne were both happy to see it, while Kazooie couldn't help but find it silly.

"Alright, Banjo, you better do a good job so we can win, for both our sakes."

"Kazooie, this isn't a combat mission. We don't have to win."

"Says you."

Banjo, Kazooie, and Undyne are ready!

"I guess I have plenty of competition, I just hope that the others are 'Ret-2-go' so we can start to enjoy ourselves." a voice said as Shantae entered the area, and gave Rosalina a hug before taking a seat.

As per usual, the Half-Genie seemed to be chipper about things, but here she was unusually smug, her game face showing that she was gonna try harder than ever before to win this, for she had a plan.

What that plan was would be a secret, one that she was going to keep from the others.

A pink Yoshi runs onto the scene at a mild pace, followed by about six young, kinda messy looking street kids and ridden by a young girl in a comparatively clean red dress. She looked around quietly at the scene, wary of her surroundings. As they slowed to a stop, she leaned in to speak to Rose rather quietly, such that it was difficult to hear them. “...Are you going to eat cake too?” she asked. “Mmm... I don't know. It seems kind of unfair...” Rose hesitantly replied. There was simply no way a Yoshi could possibly lose an eating contest to anyone else here--except maybe Kirby. ...That smug bastard. “I want to eat cake, but I don't know if they'll let me.” Rose added, gesturing up at Rosalina. Mary gave Rosalina a sharply critical look at this, but said nothing. “Look at it another way. I can still help you reach the table!” Rose offered the tiny girl.

A young woman(?) walked in with her hoodie up, not giving Rosalina more than a glance. Her orange and blue hoodie partially concealing her face... but not by much if you were looking directly at it. She didn't usually like attending events like this but admittedly it was very hard for her to ignore the siren's call of cake.

She didn't even really care much about winning, she just wanted to eat cake until she dropped. An opportunity like this in a famine is not something she was about to pass out on. She took a seat, and looked... well only one was disappointing but understandable... besides, it's probably best she wasn't provided with as many calories as she could eat. Not sure she could resist.

Bowser Jr directed the Clown Car toward the house where this cake-eating competition was to be held. He'd been waiting all week for this to start, and he was excited! Though it might just be his sweet tooth talking, having a chance to eat as much cake as he wanted was rare, so he was definitely gonna take part in this! Parking the Clown Car outside, hidden so it wouldn't draw any kind of suspicion, Jr entered the house.

....And was taken off guard by who exactly was hosting this event. Rosalina and the Koopas...hadn't exactly seen eye-to-eye in the past. Perhaps it was something about them stealing all her Power Stars. Jr suddenly felt a little awkward being here, but he wasn't going to back out now! He just hoped that Rosalina would put their, ah, history behind them for now....

As Jr walked past the table with all the cakes on it, a strange book would suddenly appear without warning on top of it, thankfully missing the cakes and landing beside them. The book just sat there for a few minutes before opening, and, to the probable shock of those around it, a purple furred cat leapt out of it's pages. "Alright, we made it this time, Book! Good thing too, cause I'm starving! I hope they have fishcakes....."

A girl looking distinctly like Amitie walked in... Although she was slightly taller, she was almost identical save fashion choices. If Rosalina knew Amitie from home Amithree could be easily mistaken for her. She made to nod to Rosalina, just walking forward. Her mind was more interested with her draconic urges than speaking right now, her eyes shifting from green to blue semiregularly. It was an aspect of her form she didn't really have conscious control over as she made to take a seat next to some... woman that... was she drooling?

"You alright there, miss?" the goddess went to ask Chell who just gave her a really plain look... Still despite her rather expressionless face she felt like she already asked too much and so looked away. She's probably fine.

And kind of slipping his way in the very back... way waaaay in the back was a rather unhappy black hedgehog who had his arms folded over his chest. Clearly, he didn't want to be here, and clearly he'd rather be literally anywhere else but here. He was prepared to do his best, but he was also prepared to hate it. Why'd he let his inner voice talk him into this? Why did he decide to make this into a competition with everyone who said he wouldn't be a threat? He was already feeling sorry for his stomach, and he hadn't even started.

C'mon! It's gonna be fun!

If one were to look out the window, they would see, gliding down from the sky a rather large bird. As it drew closer, it was easier to see that it was not a bird, but a winged boy. One with a smile on his face so bright it could be seen from a mile away. Swerving in a curve, he flew past all the windows in the building, headed for the door through which he burst in. It was the arch angel, Pit. Sliding to a stop on the heels then toes of his sandals, he did not seem the least bit concerned with his less than stellar landing. He seemed solely concerned with one thing:
“Cake! I-mean Heyk, everybody! I’m not late, am I?” Pit asked, excitedly looking around, even hopping op and down where he stood. “Wow, look at everybody here! I hope there’ll still be some left over…for you~.” He smugly smirked as he suavely sauntered over to take a seat.
It might not be easy to tell from his demeanor, but Pit wasn’t at all worried about winning this competition. To him it was like a contest for who could have the most fun. His appetite was legendary in Angel Land, rivaled by too few to mention. One of whom, Lady Palutena, opted to stay behind simply for sake of a ‘fair fight.’ Her goddess guts did not ‘follow the rules’ of such a contest the way Pit’s angelic yet somatic stomach did. Oh well, her loss. He’d still try to bring her back a slice if he could get a hold of one left over…and restrain himself from eating it. I mean, just think:
Super Mario runs from grass to galvanic terrain just for a slice of Princess Peach’s cake. Who knows what Rosalina’s of the Cosmos’ must taste like! “I came here light as a feather, and I’m so hungry...” He took a fork and knife in his hands and postured through battle stances with them as if they were twin blades. “…I don’t plan to Fly home!”

Sea Draco found herself smiling a good bit as she entered the room for the competition. Her eyes lighting up a bit as she saw all of those cakes. The dragon waving gently to Rosalina as she took a seat in one of the chairs. Her tail wrapping around her waist as she looked over the cake before her. The chef... leaning in a bit to gingerly smell the pastry. Letting the scent waft over her nose as she found herself blushing a bit. She was gonna need to ask Rosa her recipe after this. It looked and smelled scrumptious!

With that, the dragon tied a napkin around her neck, she wasn't a barbarian after all, and grabbed her fork and knife. She was ready!

Miah meanwhile had taken her seat with nary a word. The dragon having come here more in out of desire to feed herself and less out of a desire to win. She knew that she was not capable of winning this. She didn't exactly have much speed or physical stamina. But this should be fairly relaxing at least.

The Scholar grabbed her fork and knife as she leaned back in her chair. Her stomach growling gently as she looked over the large cake before her. Hopefully this wouldn't do too bad of a number on her figure...

Oh, Hey, Dawn. Your Mom Friend is now sat next to your seat. She smiles happily to Dawn, Chuckling as she immediately came out of the gate, Undoing her jacket's top button, and setting the long black coat against her chair, So that it would not get stained in Cake Icing, Or Limit with just how much cake was gonna be going down the Champions Gullet!

"Hm hm hm~ I feel quite ready myself, Dawn~"

"I cant believe im here, i cant believe im doing this, i shouldn't be doing this, i should be at home, N-not eating all this...Y-yummy looking cake...Okay Zelda, Stay calm. W-we can get through this!"


Zelda would say...Seemingly not remembering of the fact that she literally ate someone during WWLI. Regardless, It seemed she was rather embrassed to be in here, Covering her face with her hands as she seemed to be hiding the simple fact...She wanted to eat alot of cake. And so, She was going to be here, Nerves be damned!

Rosalina smiled and nodded to all of the guests as they came in, giving the occasional wave. She couldn't quite hear the others over all the commotion, but she did notice Mary giving her a hash look, making her tilt her head a little bit confused. She hadn't met them before had she? Her attention was drawn away quickly enough as Jr arrived, making the cosmic princess frown a little. It made sense for them to be here, but... She couldn't say she was the happiest about seeing them. But once again, her attention was drawn by new arrivals, smiling again at who she imagined was Amitie and nodding back to her.

And then there were many many more that she didn't recognize, but regardless she smiled and waved to each until the flow of people through the door came to an end. A few minutes after the last person entered Rosalina floated up a bit again. Everyone was here, everyone was seated, everyone had cake, it was time to eat! "Alright! It looks like everyone is ready to begin. So, I wish all of you lots of luck and a full belly by the time this is done!" Rosalina clapped her hands together a little bit excitedly, waving her wand in the process as sparkles of cosmic light gathered above her head to form a big number 3.

"So, I won't hold you all back from your cake any longer. When I say 'go', the competition will begin!" Rosalina raised her wanded hand over her head, smiling out over the gathering of people.

Rosalina swished her hand down and the text floating over rosalina sparkled and popped in tiny quiet fireworks as the cake eating competition came underway! The Lumas around the edges of the room started to perk up and cheer, the occasional name thrown in in the cheers!

(Everyone! The Cake eating competition has begun! Here are some reminders for the rules:
Roll dexterity to see how much you can eat this turn. Less than 10 is one mouthful, 10+ is two mouthfuls and 16+ is three mouthfuls. You may choose to eat less than the amount you rolled. If you roll a natural 20, you can eat an additional mouthful without taking the penalty for eating more cake.

Every turn after the first, before you roll to eat more cake you will roll a constitution check. At the beginning this constitution check is 0, but every turn the DC increases by 3. For every slice of cake above 1 that you eat during a turn, the DC increases by 2 more. If you fail the constitution check you take 20+(the amount you failed by) cake damage.

Every contestant gets a glass of water that they can drink from. Every 20th of the glass that you drink reduces the DC on the constitution checks by 1.

A hairy boulder crashed its way into the room and headed for a seat thoughtfully left available for latecomers at the end of the nearest table, as Rosalina made the tail-end of her welcoming speech. Donkey Kong's complete lack of any sense of decorum, couple with his growling belly, had driven him across to Rainbow Square at an impressive speed. The giant ape's furry butt slammed into the chair provided just as the celestial hostess called out "GO!" He had just about made it, but sadly his chair looked like it had seen better days as it buckled under his weight. What made the occasion even more bizarre was that it looked like he was wearing... was that a party hat strapped to his head? The pointy, rainbow polka dot kind? Where did he find that??

An enormous fist made a grab for the first chunk of cake and crammed it into the Kong's open mouth. It was glorious, there was an initial hit of buttery goodness as the cream filling was released from the moist sponge which practically melted as he bit into it with little star bit pieces giving a slight crunch, and finally the frosting coated everything in a sugary dream. It was good cake, and DK took a deep sigh of appreciation. He gave Rosalina a sheepish glance while he enjoyed his first bite of the cake, and grunted. His communicator picked up the subtle nuances of his speech and projected a translated equally deep-voiced expression in plain English.
