There stood the home of Shiya Kirigaya, quaint, quiet, seemingly just another normal house among the many that populated Brightwing Lane... and yet something else seemed off about it. On this day, the entirety of the street seemed to be empty for some reason, an eerily silent wind whistled through the air as trees and plants alike wavered to its whim. At every odd minute, a strange blueish-green glow seemed to issue through the windows placed at the house's front, its light filtering through the cracks in the drawn blinds and lending even more to the creepy nature.
At least, that was the scene that our brave time travelers were briefed to expect upon arriving in this time period. Right after being given their past-packs, each filled with one of the many chaos emeralds Li had to offer (some even similarly colored!), the group had been quickly debriefed by everyone favorite problematic (Supreme) Toad officer!
"Alrighty noobs. Remember, this Shiya sucker is a wily menace, so don't let your guards down for a second around him!" The officer squeaked, pacing back and forth like a drill sergeant--though his snacking on the pink, sprinkled donut clenched in his hand between sentences didn't quite reinforce that image. "I won't be able to contact or send aid once you're out there. We'll be operating under totalradio silence, so don't screw it up! The life sphere quite literally depends on it."
"If you hit your mark, you should be deposited right outside the scumbag's house just a few minutes after the original team, let's call them 'Team P' for Past, heads inside. Under no circumstances do you let yourself be seen by, let alone engage with Team P. I don't think I need to clarify why explaining this situation to your past self-" He eyed Pit. "-or trying to reason with that loose-cannon with the portal gun in such a high-stakes situation could get ugly fast. All you need to focus on is finding Shiya, then snagging him and high-tailing it out of there! The sub-objective's just that: under the objective. If things go south, forget it entirely."
As the past packs activated, the Supreme Toad Officer would rub his chin in thought while munching away at another untouched donut where did he even get that?. Just moments before everyone was zapped away though, he abruptly piped up. "OH RIGHT! And under no circumstances can you bring him back BEFORE Team P d-" Unfortunately, they wouldn't get to hear the rest of his sentence before being whisked away into the timestream. Which brings us now to the present--er, past? Pit, Doppelganger Arle, and Mimi would find themselves standing on a sidewalk in the Brightwing Lane of the life sphere. No chaos, no unleashed mega-starvia, it was for all intents and purposes a peaceful evening out... Well, until they looked across the street at what used to be a picturesque home. Instead the door was wide-open, one of the front windows was busted open with jagged shards of glass lining its frame, and ominously flashing red beams of light poking out of every opening to the building.
And so the party from the future was now left to their own devices. How they proceeded from this point onward would need to be carefully planned; for who knows what horrors awaited them at this obviously dangerous historical site.

"....And Furthermore, Under Article 66.3 in the Paradox Patrol handbook, that is ALSO getting broke! I am SO mad!" Mimi would say as she looked at the Supreme Toad Officer, Putting hands to her hips and bending forward just to dirtectly enforce the amount of mad she was at him! "You guys dont get just how much this whole traveling back in time nonsense is gonna put me back in work?! The Amount of Distortions and Paradoxes this is gonna cause-- Your just opening up SO much room for Monsters to come barreling forth, and i AM gonna write to my supervisor about it!"
"....Okay, Im done-- This whole planets a paradox anyhow, So, I guess theres no point in trying to save a vase thats already shattered. Who do i gotta punch?" Mimi would ask, Seemingly calming down. "So, Catch Shiya and bring him home? I can do that~! Mwehehehe~" Mimi assured, Looking to her Allies. Pit and Arle! ...Arle that someone dipped in Cherry Juice. "Well, Im gotta say, It's gonna be nice getting to work with such icons around here. Im Mimi, Paradox Patroller Extrordinare! This whole 'Go back to the Past' Buisness is kinda my jam, So, I'll be ontop of everything!"
...Then Mimi was Handed her Past Pack. She scowls at it. "Y'know, I *have* a way to go back in-- Y'know what, Nevermind, Lets just go." She would grumpily say, Putting on the backpack in a fashion that said 'This is the lamest time travel ever', Hitting the switch and--
"...Huh! I figured Shiya would of had a Crazier looking house. Like...I dunno. Slides and the Windows look like Faces and stuff." Mimi would say, As she looked to the Shiya Abode somewhat ponderingly, As she looks back to her Allies. "So! Who here can Fly and wants to break in through the top floor? Never see us comin'~!"

Pit is standing at attention as the Toad officer briefed. A closer look was all it would take to realize he wasn’t paying attention. He wasn’t even listening to the voice in his head.
“Pit? Are you okay?” Said divine head voice whispered. “-Huh? Oh. S-sure I am. Why wouldn’t I be?” Pit whispered back, or up, or whichever direction heaven was. “You’re not even listening.” Palutena pointed out, not fooled by the stoic face he was trying to put on one bit. It might be enough for the Toad officer looking Pit up the nostrils, but she knew her captain better than anyone. “I know how much your human friends mean to you, Pit.” She reassured him in a voice that would stroke his hair if she were there. “I-It’s okay, Lady Palutena. I’ll get another chance to get him back.” Pit declined her offer to cheer him up by sucking his lip back straight with flaring nostrils.
“Oh? And how can you be so sure~?” She teased, relieved to see him pick himself back up so quickly. “Because this Is my second chance! I’ve got more tricks up my toga this time around.” He heroically affirmed. “That’s the spirit.” She sighed contently. “I mean…I didn’t even have you.” He shrugged with the opposite of nostalgia… Things got quiet real fast.
“…You will this time.” Palutena stoically broke the telepathic silence. “Because I’m coming through time with you. Thanks again for the temporal transcendence enhancement, Lord Dyntos.” “What can I say? Metagaming’s fun every now and again.” Lord Dyntos playfully hooted, making his presence known to Pit. “Just be sure not to rat me out to the admins, ‘kay Sonny?” “You have our word, as well as our gratitude, Lord Dyntos.” Palutena humbly praised. “And our thanks too!” Pit chimed in innocently. “Ooh! While you’re at it, could you maybe do something to make sure this mission doesn’t-” “Pit!” “Sorry.” “Enjoy those critfails, Whippersnapper.” “…We should get going.” Palutena winced as she began browsing the eShop for a muzzle.
“Pleased to meet you, Mimi. I, am Pit: Captain of Lady Palutena, Goddess of Light’s Royal Guard, and I… have no idea how time travel works.” He postulated authoritatively before slinking into a sheepish slouch.
>>>One Time Travel Transition Later>>>
“…So did anybody catch the last thing he said? I wasn’t listening… This place gives me fierce case of the retros.” Pit couldn’t even finish his thought, hit with the environmental shock of being back in front of Shiya’s house Before it all happened…
“I mean I can fly!” Pit lied. “But something tells me that’s not a good idea…” “That is a bad idea, Pit.” Something repeated snarkily.

“...Right.” Shin!Arle dryly remarked, none too impressed with this jive talking fungus. She accepted her time pack and activated it to... travel back in time. Whatever that meant. Frankly none of the logic made sense to her, but then how would she distinguish it from any other technobabble?
Once they were in the past, she finally spoke up. “...I don't want to mess up Shiya's house. But there are other ways to maintain a low profile.” she casually remarked. “We're here to get ahold of Shiya and bring him back with us. Which is, I guess, a thing you can do.” she replied to Pit's question, not personally worried about whatever it was the Jive Fungus had been about to say. “Illusion!!” Shin!Arle incanted, cloaking herself in a veil of invisibility. She then just kinda casually moved to delicately open the front door and begin creeping around at a relaxed (see: quiet) pace, searching the house for Shiya.

Surprisingly enough, Arle would find that the front door was already wide-open! A quick look inside however would reveal quite the unsettling scene. Whatever state the living-room had been in beforehand, the group would be met with a room ripe with signs of struggle. A small red sword with a blue energy blade, so tiny one could misconstrue it for a knife, was stabbed at eye-level into the wall between the entrance and the broken window. The vestiges of smoke, though absent of any fire, drifted about the corners of the room. What looked to be a rather large couch had been upturned and flipped over.
Speaking of floor arrangements besides the unhealthy layer of broken glass scattered about: not far from the base of the flipped couch lay an open, metal trap door leading into a steep drop. Flashing red lights and the faint sound of an alarm's whine emanated from within the chute's depths. Ash and soot stained the shag carpeting of the abode, flared out in a pattern that suggested a spray from the unlit fireplace. And possibly the most peculiar bit of all was the perfectly oval-shaped, 2-dimensional projection that lay flattened on the floor next to the trapdoor. It fluctuated a florescent blue color, like some sort of portal but showing nothing except a flattened field of energy.
What a lovely abode! Nothing suspicious or out of the ordinary here, clearly!

“By not levelling up?” Pit asked, answering Shin!Arle’s ‘low profile’ turn of phrase. “Yeah, we are trying to get him back…” He agreed before realizing his own words. “…But that’s what we were doing…” Something was coming back to him. “…the first time-Hey where did you go?” Before he could hit on some crucial insight he was startled by Shin!Arle’s disappearance.
“She’s just gone invisible Pit.” Palutena’s voice explained, not patient enough to let Pit figure that out. “Actually, not a bad idea. Let’s follow her lead.” “Does this mean it’s time for…” Pit eagerly prepared to break into song. “To activate the Invincibility Power!” Palutena quickly cut him off before he could do so. “Now be careful, Pit. We haven’t gotten to subject it to the Test of Time yet.” She warned as she activated the power.
♪“In the thrilling end From the scene of his crime We’ll retrieve my friend By going back in time~.”♪ Pit hummed as he tiptoed behind Shin!Arle, hoping to keep her and Mimi aware of his location through his very subtle and completely inconspicuous noises.

"D'aw, No fun." Mimi would say with arms crossed as her Window Break In idea was given unanimous thumbs down, as Mimi follows along with Arle into exploring the initial entrance, Her mind very quickly over the rejection of her idea to smash the windows up top, She followed along and just casually peeks into the Doorway above Arle, Taking note of the horribly destroyed home. "...Oh hey, I think i saw that couch for sale back in the present!" Mimi would note, As she decides to sneak in with the rest of the Duo...
cPPoYAg0p_1d20+2=15 (Mimi is just gonna sneak in like a normal person-- No invisibility moves here!)
Examining the Blue Oval Shaped problem in the center, Mimi would eagerly move her tail towards it, Thinking of dipping it in for juuust a moment...Before deciding against better judgement. "Sooo...If i were Shiya-- It looks like i was either Incinerated, or Escaped somwhere! What seems more likely?" Mimi asked, Glancing at the Blue Oval once more. She just....She just dips her tail into it-- Or atleast tries.1d20

“...” Shin!Arle looked around before deciding that the trap door with the blaring alarms was probably enough of a red flag to prioritize before the rest of the house. She felt a bit uneasy with Pit following that closely behind her, but she chalked that up to not being used to working closely with others and decided not to comment on it. Instead, she moved and began to descend down the trap door to check down what was going on down there, leisurely floating through the air like a ghost.

BOLD MOVE MIMI! BOLD INDEED! The Paradox Patroller would indeed be rewarded by her abject curiosity with the sensation of... a remarkably solid and smooth surface. To the touch of her tail, at the very least, it didn't seem particularly vortex-y; in fact, it was even smoother than the soot-coated shag carpet below it, like a marbleized surface. Either way, those tail taps weren't making any progress penetrating it for now.
Arle and Pit's attempts to move stealthily about the damaged living room were quit proficient... although at least for now, there didn't seem to be anything threatening to spy them.
Though descending down the deep and red-lit hole in the ground at a feathery pace, the mage would soon find it unneeded as her descent was comfortably capped off by the cushiony surface of a well-placed mattress directly below. It seemed a bit worn out, as if recently bashed in a few minutes ago, and there were one or two wayward white feathers scattered about the landing sight, but it was still good!
They would find themselves at the front of what looked to be some sort of hallway; the walls, ceiling, all colored a matching blinding white with the occasional streak of green-blue flowing past them as some sort of energy flowed through pathways in the structure.
By the looks of things, there was no way back up; but the group was more than welcome to spend their time searching for one.
A little further down the hall than they currently were, thick-layered windows lined the walls of the base... or at least there used to be. Instead, investigating further just a bit down the hall would reveal the sounds of quite the ruckus right now! One window in particular had been shattered apart from some sort of impact, and the whine of metal instruments and shouting echoed from the room beyond. A cautious glance past the frame would reveal a spacious. warehouse-like series of rooms filled with whirring machinery and frozen conveyor belts: all of which were lined to the brim with energy weapons of varying types and makes, all with a red design reminiscent of the odd knife found earlier. Short swords, long swords, broad swords, daggers, rapiers, and sickles galore!
The ones that undoubtedly won the award for loudest though were that of the energy Buzzsaw, whirring mercilessly while being wielded by gargantuan metal factory-arms. Arms that were currently engaging in a very heated fight with a young man wielding his own, similarly styled sword; a taller woman that looked to be mid-effort of ripping one of the arms clean off of its hinges; and an angel boy that'd look quite familiar to the party!
((Everyone! Roll a 12+Dex to successfully sneak past the windows undetected! The DC is 10 while your invisibility is active however!))

“Hold on a sec… Guys? Guys.” Pit tried to grab Mimi and Warle by their shoulders, possibly making the latter even more uncomfortable. “…It’s starting to come back to me.” He began panting, trying to keep his voice down.
“The open door, the broken windows, the chimney, even that couch…” He darted his head in the direction of each respective item like a humanoid pigeon. “Look, see I would’ve said something sooner, b-but I was late to this mission! I-I mean the first time around.” Pit tried his best to explain. “Like this stuff was broken when I got here and I don’t know where I am now-I mean where the Other me, the First me is right now, b-but I know which way he went. Down there.” He pointed to the red-lit hole in the ground.
“My wings can slow my descent, so I’ll go down first.” He volunteered, with yet another stroke of déjà vu. Before he even went down, he spied familiar feathers waiting on the matrass, which just proved itself further for future Pit.
“Lady Palutena?” Pit whispered into his laurel crown.
“Activating stealthy descent.” Palutena replied, silently impressed, observing the charge he was suddenly taking. Pit’s wings began to glow softer than usual. Scooping up Mimi and leaving Warle to her floating, Pit gently descended, taking a sharp horizontal turn to not make noise by landing on the matrass.
He was so busy chasing after Shiya the first time that Pit didn’t get to take in the atmosphere down here before. Taking one of the feathers and comparing them to one freshly plucked from his wing. “…These are mine alright…wait. This one’s still warm.” He noticed something about the old one. If it’s this fresh, that must mean…
Following the trail of feathers Palutena really needed to talk to Pit about the way he left everywhere, the sterile whiteness raised a sense of dread in him that was so palpable even she felt it. There was a loud racket up ahead, seeping in through a broken pane of glass. For Pit it was like listening to a replay of an old battle. It looked like watching Dark Pit fight in his clothes.
“…There we are…there I am.” He breathed into his hands. “As handsome as I am, I can’t let him see me. Lady Palutena?” “Activating Invisibility.” Palutena confirmed as Pit, the future Pit, vanished from sight. “Huh? Phew. That’s actually a better idea than I was going to ask.”

Pit gets a handfull of pauldrons that kinda tug their way out of his grasp as Shin!Arle spun around in the air to face him, somewhat unamused with the handsiness, not that anyone should be able to see the expression on her face. She was quiet in response, listening without comment. It seemed like she wasn't ready to speak to anyone here.
As they finished and proceeded downward, Shin!Arle took a moment to look through the window. Even if they noticed something was there, she felt safe in the knowledge that they'd only see some blur in the air or sound, and not her face. Upon seeing that it wasn't Shiya they were fighting though, she retreated from the window and moved to continue on.

((Mimi! Due to failing to meet the posting deadline, you've been skipped and your stealth check automatically failed.))
For the invisible duo, sneaking past the window undetected proved to be child's play, though Pit cut it a little close with the timing on his invisibility powerup. Unfortunately for the both of them however, their partner in crime wouldn't prove to be as dexterous. Those absent-minded tail pokes into the inactive portal would eventually earn Mimi a sudden jolt, causing the mochi to abruptly lose her balance; the maneuver would send her tumbling down into the basement facility after her party members... and rolling to an unfortunate stop right in front of the broken window.
It was an especially unfortunate positioning, because not even seconds after finding herself in that compromising position--
"No! Not my wings!" Pit cried bloody murder.
Careening off in the wake of a successful suicide detachment, the buzzing saw of one of the production-line arms rebounded off of the battlefield below and straight through the broken observation window! Duck and cover!

These can be as simple as being spotted by unnecessary parties, or as great as interfering with a key event. Should the party earn 3 Paradox Points in total... something very bad will happen~!))
The narrow white hall that the group found themselves in seemed to continue, uninterrupted, for quite a stretch... all the way up to a dead end. No signs of entries or exits, no doors or halls leading onward. How curious! The only clue that seemed to hint not everything was as it seems were the scuff marks in the otherwise pristine floor leading up to this point before stopping abruptly at the wall. Undoubtedly the handiwork (or footwork) of a certain mage's mad dash to escape.

"Wha-huh?" Mimi was...Very much not paying attention. It was oddly satisfying rubbing her tail on the smooth round marbling on the floor, Until suddenly-- ZZT! Mim was jolted away from it, letting out a "Yow!!" In pain, hopping up and bouncing ahead as she rubbed her hindquarters. "Okay, Okay, I'll stop sticking my tail in things..." Mimi whined to...Seemingly no one, as she Tumbled forward toward a Broken Window, and...Was that a buzz--
p_1d100 (Mortal wound avoided!)
"EEP!" Mimi gasped, As a Chunk of her Cotton Candy Flavored hair was lopped off all of a sudden, Flopping to the floor as Mimi gulped, Quickly tugging on the roots which brought the hair back to it's previous length. "Okaaaay, New lesson, Pay attention!" Mimi would say to herself, As she pursued the next possible route to continue!
"...I have NO idea where were going." Mimi admitted.
Arle paused and glanced back at Mimi to observe what had happened, just kinda watching. “...” Geez. She wondered if cutting a person made out of cotton candy bubblegum actually hurt or if it was just kind of a distraction. Utterly unconcerned Mimi's reaction reinforced the idea that she couldn't feel it, Arle turned her attention back to the path forward--or lack there-of. “...Perhaps through the wall.” she thoughtfully replied. That was the next step of her plan anyway. It's not like they were supposed to have any idea where they were going, other than to chase Shiya. She had this sneaking suspicion it might be a fake wall or something, so she decided to try and brute force an answer
“Fade!!” Shin!Arle incanted, creating a rip in space between the wall and well--the other side of the wall. Glimpses of subspace could be seen along the side of the portal, though since it was so exceptionally short a distance you couldn't actually set foot in subspace so much as step through it briefly.

“Mi-Mph!” Was all the Invisible Stealthy Pit could shout before his own wings bent forward and muffled his mouth. “Pit! Watch. Your. Mouth! You almost blew even more of our cover!” Palutena sternly chastised in the heat of the moment.“If the other you or any of your other team mates heard you, not only could you jeopardize the mission, but--” She loudly reminded him in his head before Mimi got a chainsaw haircut.
“…That. And Worse. You could trigger a Time Paradox!” “T’m’ P’r’d’x?” Pit hummed through his muffled wings. “Mimi should know all about that.” Palutena rolled her eyes. “It’s when changes in the past cause things in the present to not make sense so the timeline… It’s like Dialga hitting itself in its Confusion.” Pit’s eyes only widened, but that was enough to let Palutena know he understood. She released his wings that flapped back invisibly. They potentially clapped on Shin-Arle.
Pit wasted no time invisibly grabbing Mimi and pulling her back out of sight. “Honestly, I thought I’d mess up like that sooner.”He whispered no hard feelings. Tiptoeing further away from the action and potential paradox implosions, they came to a dead end.
“See any way forward, Lady Palutena?” Pit asked, seeing how she’d clearly see more than he could. “Indeed I have, Pit. Look a little closer: What do You see?” She asked, taking a teaching moment to test his ability of deduction. (p_1d20+1 Pit's Retroactive Architecture Inspection.)
