Throughout the Life Sphere, one could not simply walk the streets without seeing it. Posted on bulletin boards, vacant walls, and even some peoples front doors, it was there. Captain Falcon’s grinning face slapped onto a poster, explosive letters boasting ‘Fight the Falcon!’ ‘Show me your moves!’ Further details about the Sunshine Stadium and when to meet were signified below.

It seemed that half of the Life Sphere was already aware of the event, massive crowds filling in the spectator’s stands, the variety of races rustling in their seats with anticipation, waiting for even a hint of either fighters making their way into the coliseum. In a moment of silence, a section of the floor opened, a ring of smoke spewing as mechanical pistons whirred. A rising platform emerged from below while two coloured spotlights circled around the area of interest, one cyan, the other orange. As the dust and smoke settled, a pair of luscious orange lips smacked.

“AH HA HA! Welcome back to the Sunshine Stadium, adrenaline junkies! Your humble host has returned! Did you miss me!?” MC Ballyhoo blustered with a coy hand to his cheek. The crowd wailed and wooed in response, a clamorous uproar that the squat man-thing accepted with open arms.

His head sitting companion seemed less enamored, eyelids lazily drooping halfway down his irises. “I sure didn’t” Big Top bemoaned in his iconic cynical tone. The audience shifted to uproarious laughter, like they were at a sitcom and someone only said something mildly humorous. Big Top wore a unenthusiastic grimace, squinting at the audience with little patience. “You’re all sheep and should be ashamed of it.”

It was Ballyhoo who was belly laughing this time, swiping a tear from his eye. “Oh, Big Top! Every phrase from your mouth is a shirt seller! But let’s not get off topic! This fine evening, we have quite the act for you fine folks! Whether you be in person or sitting there at home on your couch! It’s Ballyhoo’s Big Time Charity Bonanza!”

“Wait, you didn’t organ-”

“Shush, Big Top! I’m getting to that! In Ballyhoo’s Brawltastic Charity Extravaganza, all proceeds will be going directly to… no wait…” MC Ballyhoo pulled a piece of paper from under his hat and squinted his tiny eyes at it. “30% will be going to the Life Sphere’s Police Force, 20% to Aether Paradise, 12.5% to…” He suddenly threw his hands up, letting the paper fly away in the wind. “All proceeds will be going to all of your favourite charity organizations! Yes! Even the one you’re thinking about right now! Except that one, you know the one, HA HA HA! Without further ado, allow me to introduce the man who made this all happen! The Chief of Police himself…”

Right on cue, the Blue Falcon ramped over the very edge of the stadium, soaring over the audience and careening toward the center of the battlefield below. As the nose curved down, the canopy popped open and ejected the stunt driver out of his seat. The man performed a series of backflips before landing on his feet, turning his head to the audience with a toothy grin, a thumbs up, and the explosion of his F-Zero racer as the backdrop.

“Captain Falcon!” Ballyhoo spouted to the heavens above. He paused for a moment, letting the audience applause and shower their attention on the Captain as he waved and flexed his chiseled pecks to content the hearts of millions. “But let’s not forget, we have his challenger! Please welcome…”

As the arena match for charity started to begin in from the other side of the arena walked in Joe. He was dressed in his casual clothes and looked like any ordinary citizen at first. Most were confused by his sudden appearance and wondered if someone had gotten lost on the way to the stands.

"This is the place huh? Well I'll be sure to give these people an good show." Joe said with a smirk as he didn't make a fancy entrance like Captain Falcon did, however Joe had other plans to make his name more known for this match.

Striking a pose with his forefinger, middle finger and pinky outward Joe's eyes looked like they were excited as he said the words most everyone on his world knew of when he would show up.

Suddenly his watch started to glow a brilliant light and Joe shouted out those words. "Henshin A Go Go Baby!" His words seemed to echo throughout the arena as his words activated a transformation of sorts.

First his clothes were replaced with a red suit with white gloves and boots. Second he donned a red helmet with a metal V crest on top of it, and finally a flowing pink cape sprouted from behind his neck as he then struck more poses and introduced himself.

"I'm Joe, Viewtiful Joe!" Striking one final pose an explosion went off behind him in a manner of showing how cool he was to the crowd as they started to cheer. Joe had to say that this arena match for charity was definitely going to be a lot of fun, no matter who wins.

Joe did hope that some of his friends were watching this match, maybe it was being televised around the Life Sphere? Well anyway the show must go on of course!

As the regular Joe entered the arena, MC Ballyhoo looked up to his hat in an underwhelmed fashion. He placed his hand over the mic. “Who is this guy again?” he questioned in a hushed tone.

“When have we ever known the people who enter this place?”

Ballyhoo’s subdued expression was quickly dashed away at the new challenger’s sudden transformation. He wasn’t the only one. Captain Falcon reserved his judgements on his opponent’s base appearance, but as soon as the suit, helmet, and scarf materialized, his heart skipped a beat. What was this? A long-lost brother from beyond time and space? Finally! Someone who understood him from a stylistic standpoint. Nothing that added flare could ever be considered impractical.

Without a moment of hesitation, the captain launched himself toward his new opponent, running as fast as his legs would allow. He screeched to a halt just a few feet from the man, the dust of the stadium’s flooring flowing behind him. The muscles in his arms were as clenched as his fists, his expression as excited as a school girl. “Yes! This is exactly why we put posters on every street corner! You, bro, are my new favourite person! You gotta tell me who hems your scarf! I can never get mine to look like that!” he blurted with sheer bro-y intensity. He even lifted his scarf and fluttered it about to illustrate his point.

Before Captain Falcon could gush further, Ballyhoo popped up between the two, his propeller powered hat allowing him to float to an equal height to the police chief. “AH HA HA! Well folks, do we ever have a match for you! Two helmeted heroes battling it out to keep the Life Sphere’s services running! You couldn’t mistake this for the sideshow! Let the carnival of chaos commence!” Ballyhoo announced as he flew off into the sky. “Like that, Big Top? I came up with that just now!” he muttered as they exited the scene.

“You’re a true wordsmith…”

With that, Captain Falcon’s glowing triangular eyes met with Joe’s. Right! They had to get the show on the road. Even though there wasn’t much distance between them to begin with, Captain Falcon decided to get up close and personal regardless. His fist began to burn brightly before it suddenly erupted into flames. He lunged forth with the immense speed of his F-Zero racer, his flaming fist shooting upward as he zipped along the ground.

The sheer speed of his strike was likely to catch anyone off balance, Joe probably not being an exception regardless of how Viewtiful he was. The wall of fire that was left in the aftermath of his uppercut would quickly be broken by Captain Falcon himself, his flaming foot rocketing forward like a missile. “FALCON KICK!” he spouted, as if it was an involuntary process in performing the move.

Regardless of whether his fiery foot hit his opponent or the ground below him, the impact would naturally cause an explosion, one that would cause the captain to fly backwards in the form of a flip, landing in a kneeling position. His splayed hand thrust forward as a smirk grew on his face. “C’mon!” he taunted, complete with the hand gesture.

As his transformation ended that had him donning his Viewtiful Joe gear, Joe noticed that the crowd definitely had their minds changed about him because of said transformation. In fact his opponent Captain Falcon seemed to be just as impressed with him. It was not unlike a fanboy asking for his hero's autograph in a way. Joe looked onward to the man who seemed just as excited for their match before asking about who handles his costume? Looking up and then onto his own body, Joe wondered how he would explain it.

"Oh this? The costume comes with the new powers, so I can safely say that no one works on my costume. Though I got to say it's pretty wicked cool that I get to fight you. Let's give these people a good show alright?"

Joe said as he then gave a thumbs up before getting ready for the fight itself. First came a rather fast punch attack, Joe would make sure to dodge it with his own incredible speed.

Joe just barely dodged the speedy punch as the punch just flew right by him. Joe just made himself look even cooler with a Viewtiful Pose right after dodging the attack. 

Next came a Falcon Kick, Joe knew of it but could it match his own Red Hot Kick? He would soon see as Joe would attempt to dodge it too.

It wasn't enough to dodge the kick unfortunately as Joe took the damage from the attack and got knocked backward a bit. "Ow!" Joe said as he then got hit by the attack before getting back up with a front flip. 

That was when Captain Falcon taunted him. Apparently he wanted Joe to come toward him? Well he was going to do that alright.

"Okay then, bring it on!" Joe exclaimed as he charged at Captain Falcon for his challenge.

Holding up his hand to strike a pose, similar to the one he did before when he transformed, Joe activated one of his abilities. "Slow Motion!" Suddenly the space around Joe began to warp and bend as it made everything around him seem slower but outside of that space it actually made him faster. This ability increases his STR and DEX stats by +2 to their mods with the added effect of a 10% chance of Slow to all of his attacks for 2 turns. 

Joe leaned in as he then activated his other ability. "Mach Speed!" Joe charged at Captain Falcon with immense speed, even more so than before as this speed combined his Slow Motion and Mach Speed together in a harmony of movement. 

STR Rolls for Mach Speed: Joe does 5% damage with a 10% chance to Burn for each successful hit. Added to that is a 10% chance to Slow as well.

Joe then backflipped after his Mach Speed attack then used his momentum to propel himself forward after he landed as he unleashed a flaming kick of his own. 

"Red Hot Kick!" he exclaimed as he attempted to get Captain Falcon with it.

Based on his movements, Viewtiful Joe was proving himself to be quick on his feet. Speed was always the name of Captain Falcon’s game, but on foot he wasn’t the speed demon that his racing career had him out to be, especially compared to super powered beings he often found himself up against. That was good though! He loved fighting against the odds, why else would he become an F-Zero racer?

Speaking of, it seemed that Joe was just as eager as he was to get down to fighting. No strategy, just a couple of bros exchanging blows. It got his blood pumping, his machismo pride heightening to levels beyond what he could contain. The testosterone flowed directly into his bloodstream, making his muscles jitter with pure power.

As much as he wanted to swing his fists wildly, his foe came rushing in at speeds he only saw F-Zero racers go at.

Fortunately for the Falcon, high speed maneuvering and decision making was in his blood. He nimbly twisted his body, avoiding the Mach speed jabs with ease and a calm finesse that suggested he knew what he was doing. Unfortunately, he could only go toe to toe with a high-speed opponent for so long before his lacking reaction time caught up with him. Joe tagged him squarely on the chin, causing him to fly backwards with a echoing “ooOOO” erupting from his mouth.

The police chief crashed against the ground, rubbing his chin but recoiling his hand from the sudden stinging sensation. The highspeed friction gave him a nasty burn, one that made the slightest flex sting. Could he still fight like this? Captain Falcon paused for a moment, gathering his thoughts, but it all led back to endless excitement. The pain drove him back to his feet. “Yes, yes, YES!” he exclaimed with a quick succession of fist pumps. The disadvantage, the pain, he was the ultimate underdog!

With this new motivation, Captain Falcon ran headlong into Joe’s Red Hot Kick, as if he wanted to be struck squarely in the chest. At the last possible second though, he dug his heels into the ground and allowed his Bubble Shield to envelop him in its squishy protective goodness. With that blow bounced off, Captain Falcon was in close, right where he wanted to be!

The captain launched forward, knee first. Like a secondary rocket, his other knee propelled forward. Then lastly, he smashed his elbow down (the arm’s knee) in order to smack his foe back to the ground.

With his opponent presumably at his mercy after such a savage beatdown, it was the perfect moment for the piece of resistance. Captain Falcon smash his knuckles into his open palm and then reeled his fist back. The laborious motion gave Joe ample time to recover, but he might not expect what came next. A fiery glow arose from the police chief’s fist, until it launched forward. Unlike the Raptor Boost, its flames were not chaotic, instead it flowed and formed into the shape of a bird. No, a falcon. “FALCON” Captain Falcon launched forward, releasing his fist and ethereal bird in one swift motion. “PAWNCH!”

While it was anything but accurate, seeing the Falcon Punch in person was always hype, more than making up for the fact that it couldn’t hit the broadside of a building.

Joe hasn't had this much fun in a fight such as a this in a long time! Joe moved about the arena with much speed as he would attempt to dodge the attacks given by Captain Falcon. A flurry of blows was next with his knees then his elbow, Joe made to dodge these attacks the best he could. With his increased speed he would be able to dodge them no problem right? Here's hoping that he could safely say that if he managed to dodge them.

For the first blow he would activate his bubble shield to absorb the damage, hoping to lighten the attack's effectiveness. 10 activation - 16% = 29% shield left.

Next he would make for dodging the next attacks, including the Falcon Punch.

All of them were dodged successfully! Making it look easy as he dodged every single attack including the famous Falcon Punch with ease. 

"That was pretty wicked cool!" Joe said in an excited tone.

Next Joe would go on his own offensive. 

Joe started things off with something different Joe would use 2 of his VFX bars to do something neat. Bar 1 he would use to increase his DEX Modifier by a +1 temporally while Bar 2 would be used to do extra damage with an additional 1d8 added to the damage of his next attack thanks to VFX. Joe was preparing for something big this time. 

"C'mon Six Machine!" Joe summoned his own aircraft to the arena as it then hovered above Joe. "Now, Go Go Six Cannon!" Suddenly the Six Machine transformed into a giant laser cannon of which Joe aimed right at Captain Falcon. 

DEX Roll for Six Cannon: +2 DEX Mod because of Slow Motion and +1 DEX Mod because of the VFX bar. 10% Slow chance added because of Slow Motion and a 1d8 added to the damage of this attack. Does 25% damage and inflicts Joe with 6% recoil.

After the attack fired Joe immediately de-summoned his Six Machine as it vanished then Joe struck another pose to earn some appeal.

Watching as his flaming bird sailed right past his opponent was not an unfamiliar sight for Captain Falcon, but it always disappointing nonetheless. Sure, it was slow and usually not worth the drawbacks, but what technique had more hype behind it than the Falcon Punch? Nothing.

Again, Viewtiful Joe proved himself to be a quick opponent, perhaps a bit too quick for the police chief, especially in his creeping old age. The momentum of his punch went to the ground, causing him to stop early, but it very well left him open for the speedster’s next attack. The captain turned his head slow and cautiously, feeling that if he tried to keep up with his opponent, he was going to throw out his back again. The man was clearly a younger, spryer version of himself, a comparison that was not lost on him from the first minute of this match. Rather than detest that though, it was a fun challenge to see if his experience would outperform his foe’s youthful agility.

As Captain Falcon finally got himself turned around though, he found himself dead in the sights of Viewtiful Joe’s miniature aircraft, more specifically its charging laser cannon. Considering that he wasn’t capable of moving at the speed of light, Captain Falcon decided that it’d be better to brace for the oncoming hit instead of trying to leap out of the way. Crossing his arms in a defensive stance, what was left of his Bubble Shield formed around his body.

The oncoming laser smacked against Captain Falcon’s shield, causing it to shatter under pressure like a glass pane. The heat of the beam still managed to burn right through, though only caused a minor flinch as opposed to knocking him back like a ragdoll. He shook off the pain though and stood tall. “Ch’yes! Dig the craft, bro! We gotta race some time!” he announced as he slowly broke into a run, charging at Viewtiful Joe once more. His feet ignited as he got into a sprint, until he launched off his feet and into a blazing torpedo-like kick.

The Falcon Kick was an easy way for him to catch up with an opponent, especially one as fast as Viewtiful Joe. Once he was back on the flat of his feet, he wouldn’t miss the opportunity to get another shot in. With a hardened splayed hand infused with falcon energy, Captain Falcon swung at his foe’s face. “FALCON BACKHAND!” It was nothing personal, just a casual backhand between bros.

As he swung his hand, Captain Falcon’s body began to surge with electrical energy, sparks flickering off his suit like he was a fuse box about to blow. Staggered or not, he wasn’t going to let his super sentai sparring partner get away so easily without a big bro hug. Captain Falcon leapt at Viewtiful Joe, attempting to glomp him and distribute his electrons over to him. Should the police chief make contact, the sparks will detonate into a series of electrified explosions.

Whether it connected or not, the subsequent detonations would cause major knockback to Captain Falcon, though he’d be grinning the entire time and spout “yes!” as he flew back. It was controlled knockback though, the F-Zero racer gliding through the air like a trapeze artist. Before he properly landed, he sent his signature two finger salute to the audience.

As Captain Falcon blocked the damage with what was left of his shield Joe felt empowered as he felt some of his VFX come back to him as that was in fact damage that hit his opponent. Now he could do so much more with his VFX that it was looking like Captain Falcon was wearing himself down a bit. "Thanks dude. Yeah we should definitely do a race some time later." Joe said with a smirk as Captain Falcon then went for another Falcon Kick. Joe was at the ready however with his bubble shield which he would use to block the attack. 34% - 10% - 18% = 6% shield left.

Viewtiful Joe would then move to dodge the next two attacks. One was a backhand attack and the next was what looked like a power grapple of some sort.

Joe expertly dodged both of the attacks with ease. "Gotta try harder than that bro. My Red Hot spirit won't go out that easily." Joe said with a chuckle. 

Joe would then jump into the air and kick downward in a flaming kick toward Captain Falcon. "Speaking of Red Hot, have another taste of my Red Hot Kick!"

Joe then fired himself up even more after that as he then used his newly gained VFX bar to increase the damage of his next attack again. What was his next attack you may ask? Well Joe was going to go for another Six Cannon attack.

"C'mon Six Cannon!" Joe was ready for the recoil as he knew this was going to hurt a lot if it hit Captain Falcon, he couldn't possibly hope to block another one could he? "And here comes the pitch! Can the amazing Viewtiful Joe outperform the legendary Captain Falcon? Stay tuned folks you don't want to miss this!" Joe was putting his hand near his mouth with his hand and acting like he had a mic to his mouth as if it was a baseball game.

"Six Cannon Fire!" The large blue orb that was his Six Cannon's laser shot fired right at Captain Falcon with great accuracy. Would it hit this time? Joe had hoped the great Captain Falcon could come up with something, because lets face it Joe was very excited.

As Captain Falcon landed again, he noticed a distinct lack of wear on his knuckles. His flailing fists had only come in contact with the air, none against his opponent. It was certainly not looking good in terms of his chances of winning, but he couldn’t help but hold up a little smirk to himself. Such a young and spry lad, he was a tough customer, and the captain couldn’t be prouder for him. If he enjoyed filing paperwork, he might make for a good Police Chief one day.

Enough of that though, he couldn’t just submit to the kid’s greatness. The audience wanted a show, he wanted a good fight, so it was time to give them one. Confidently, Captain Falcon stood his ground as Viewtiful Joe’s Red Hot Kick came descending down upon him. At the very last second, he performed a side flip out of harm’s way. “Keep that Red Hot spirit coming, bro! The Falcon only dives for the strongest prey!”

Before he could hop to his feet again though, Joe quickly summoned his Six Cannon. Try as he might to deke his opponent at the last minute, the size of the blast was far too great for him to leap out of the way in time. In moments like these, he reflexed into his bubble shield, but as he was known to do, he already overclocked his shield’s max capacity, so the laser blast singed right through him.

Instead of being blasted back by the beam’s power, in that split second, he realized something. This was his perfect opportunity to get Viewtiful Joe while he was unaware. The recoil of his gun would delay his reaction time just enough to make even his most sluggish move hit. Through sheer force of will, Captain Falcon ran against the gruff, sprinting directly through the eye of the laser’s beam. It singed and scorched his suit to beyond level of repair, but it was going to be worth it in the end.

Captain Falcon launched from out of the laser fire, his body positioned above Viewtiful Joe. His skin was fried like chicken, but his held a toothy grin. His arm reeled back; his gloved hand was clenching with power. All of the Falcon’s might was channeling into a singular point, the ethereal glow lighting up the stadium like a miniature sun just materialized in front of them. “Falcon” he whispered from his lips.

As Captain Falcon’s fist lunged forward, gravity took its course, but it seemed that another force was rocketing him to the ground, to Joe. Sprouting from his knuckles was the beak of a flaming bird, the rest of its body flickering into form like Captain Falcon’s entire body burst into flames. A gleam of passionate destruction glittered from his eyes as he shouted the word “PAAAAWWWWWWWNCH!” Once the word was uttered, his fist made contact and a fiery explosion followed, bits of debris raining down on the audience members.

His silhouette could be seen, his head rolling to the side as a fresh crack echoed from his neck. Stray bits of light arose from the cloud, sparks radiating from the Police Chief’s body once more. “Never count a Falcon out!” he proudly proclaimed as he leapt into the air once more. This time though he simply let his electrified body fall toward his opponent like he was a human torpedo. “FALCON Swan Dive!”

From the looks of it Viewtiful Joe managed to get a solid hit on Captain Falcon and boy did he ever! The Six Cannon did its work but due to the recoil of the shot it would damage him but also slow down his reaction for an incoming attack. Something of which he did not expect as Captain Falcon powered right through the blast.

There was no time to dodge or block as Captain Falcon used his signature Falcon Punch on Viewtiful Joe! This time it hit him and square in the jaw as it sent Joe flying into the arena wall with a loud crash.

Joe slowly got up and wiped the burn marks off of his chin. "Heh nice. Always wanted to see what the famous Falcon Punch could do. It's just as strong as they say." Joe stood up but suddenly felt his body react to the punch negatively.

Joe felt a little dizzy after that attack had hit him right on. He could not react to the next attack that Captain Falcon was about to use on him as Joe was grabbed and hit with a shocking blow that would hurt quite a bit after the Falcon Punch had landed. 

Hurt even more from the Falcon Dive he felt electricity course through his body as Captain Falcon jumped off of him.

The electricity had left Joe's system before doing any real damage to him. Now it was his turn to attack as the previous attack hit him and knocked him out of his stunned state. 

Joe felt a little woozy from getting hit with two big attacks one right after the other but it was not like he did not welcome the challenge. Truth be told Joe was pretty excited still as he was noticeably fired up after that attack. 

Joe smirked as he felt the pain coursing throughout his body but his Red Hot Spirit would start to shine even further as a noticeable red and fiery aura lit up around Joe's body. "Okay now it's on! Time to bring it to the next level!" 

With a sudden burst of speed Joe would attempt to unleash a flurry of punches and kicks toward Captain Falcon once again with his Mach Speed attack:

All unlikely hits as Joe was still recovering from getting Falcon Punched and Dived at the same time. He was a bit slower than before. 

Spending another VFX bar that he just gained from hitting the captain with his Six Cannon he would use it to increase the accuracy of his next attack giving a temporary +1 to his Strength! 

Joe then aimed a flaming kick toward the captain as he tried another Red Hot Kick.

After backflipping off his target, Captain Falcon performed a perfect three-point landing, smiling at the electrified Viewtiful Joe. While he pulled off an incredible combo, it was certainly no time for him to get cocky. After all, he was in the pits just before that last turn, it was most certainly anyone’s battle, and his singed suit was more than enough proof of that. In fact, he doubted he’d be able to pull off another successful Falcon Punch before the end of the match.

“Heh, you wouldn’t believe how many times someone at the bar asks for a Falcon Punch and ends up in the hospital!” he hollered as Joe got the gumption to make his counterattack. Captain Falcon stood at the ready, both fists clenched at his sides. “Not everyone has the stomach for it!”

To avoid Viewtiful Joe next lunge, Captain Falcon performed a series of backflips, gaining a massive amount of distance in the process.

Which was almost instantly made trivial by Joe’s sudden rocketing kick, closing any distance that Captain Falcon had previously made, and lending himself to be kicked in the ribs mid-backflip. The unexpected hit made the racer flop to the ground with a thud. Utilizing the sheer power of his well toned abdomen, he flipped himself over, as if he was going to hop back onto his feet, but at the last minute, with his body flying through the air sideways, his feet glowed with a flaming fury. He rocketed through the air, feet first toward Viewtiful Joe.

That wasn’t quite enough for him just yet though. After smashing his feet against something, Joe or the invisible air particles where he once stood, Captain Falcon was shot into the air thanks to the recoil of his kick. As he twisted his body about, doing his best to position himself in the most advantageous way possible, he aimed his feet at the groundward Joe. As if he was entering terminal velocity, Captain Falcon’s feet were set ablaze again, barreling toward the ground like a missile about to strike. “FALCON KICK!”

Upon contact, the Falcon Kick exploded with great fury. Captain Falcon’s stomping kick caused a crater to form under his feet, perhaps more powerful than even he expected. He leapt backwards, landing both feet on solid ground and placing his hands on his hips, admiring his handiwork. He’d give any form of explosive destruction a ten out of ten, but if he had to be critical, perhaps his performance could use some work. Could have used an enthusiastic “YES!” or some other killer catchphrase.

As soon as his eyes fell upon Viewtiful Joe again though, Captain Falcon’s fists tensed. His enlarged and clenched veins were visible even through his jumpsuit. “Ch’yes!” he hollered as if the words were rolling through his throat. “Yes! Yes!” he repeated with a series of fist pumps. “You’re right! This is a real fight! Yes! C’mon bro, punch me in the jaw!” he hollered, pointing to his jawline with all of the excitement of a frat boy daring his buddy to punch him in the gut.

Joe made to dodge the first Falcon Kick as he was trying to keep up with Captain Falcon. He was definitely feeling a little slower than before but then again that might be just what he needs right now. If he was slower then he just needed his opponent to be even more slow. But right now he would focus on dodging these attacks.

Joe gets hit by the Falcon Kick which made him feel the pain as it singed part of his outfit. The burn marks clear as day on his red and white costume. "Ow! Okay that hurt." Joe was not even a moment into it as another Falcon Kick took him right on and landed square in the jaw.

Joe was really feeling worn out now. He was at low health now at it was starting to show. However Joe was not out yet and he still had a few tricks up his sleeve. 

As Captain Falcon challenged him once again and to hit him in the jaw Joe would very much oblige.

Fail. "Heh I'll do more than just that. You can bet on me giving it my all!" Joe again felt pretty exhausted but he was not out yet. 

"Time for a little insurance first, can't be too careful." Joe uses his Take 2 ability on himself by taking out a Director's Clapperboard and clapping it shut before putting it away. If Joe is defeated after this is used on the previous turn he revives back to 10% health with a -1 Mod to all his stats on the next turn. This revive effect can only be used for Joe once per thread. 

Next Joe would ensure his survival by spending another VFX bar to increase the damage output of his next attack with a 1d8. 

Lastly Joe summoned his Six Cannon once more to give him a real punch to the face with an energy blast. 

"How's about an energy blast to the face? Think you can handle that?" Joe said with a light chuckle. 

"C'mon Six Cannon!" Joe summoned it then readied the cannon to fire. "Fire!" Joe said as he shot the energy blast right at Captain Falcon. 

Feeling the sting of the recoil Joe would smirk as he knew that if he was taken out next round that Captain Falcon would be in for a surprise with his Take 2 ability.

The punch to the jaw didn’t come just yet, but Viewtiful Joe seemed like a guy who delivered on his promises. There was nothing that Captain Falcon wanted more right now than to feel the adrenaline rush that came with dislodging his jaw. In fact, he almost had the compulsion to smack himself in the face just to get the feeling going. For that very reason, he merely stood there as Joe began to set up his counterattack, caring very little about how he was preparing and what he had in store for him.

His clenched fists shook as if he had Parkinson’s, the anticipation for what was coming next nearly giving Captain Falcon a heart attack. Just then, Viewtiful Joe pulled out the Six Cannon once more. The logical half of his brain aired on the side of caution, but it was heavily outspoken by the daredevil part of his brain. He wanted this so bad. He would have preferred a good ol’ fashioned knuckle sandwich, but the dare to take the hit was too much for him to pass up on.

Joe asked if he could handle the Six Cannon, to which Captain Falcon grinned. “Let’s find out!”

As the cannon fired, a blazing beam of pure hurt, Captain Falcon’s logical brain piped up one last time. He could dip out of the way; it was almost possible. Daredevil brain kicked in though, shoving logical brain into a race pod and launching it out of his mindscape. There was no room for logic in a fight between bros.

As promised, the beam hit Captain Falcon squarely in the jaw, knocking him off his feet and flat onto his back. As the heat from the beam simmered off, the police chief’s torso rose like a vampire from a coffin. His jaw was crooked, his lips misaligned as a result.

He sat there for a full second, as if he was processing what just happened. With one whip of his head and a bone crackling echo, his jaw snapped back into place. “HOO-AH!” Captain Falcon loudly proclaimed as he hopped back onto his feet. His triangular eyes burned with a passion unlike anything he showed before, his arms shaking with immense power and testosterone, the likes of which not even a bull shark could produce.

Captain Falcon broke out into a light jog, which quickly elevated to a run, then a full-on sprint. Dust from the stadium kicked up in his wake. Barreling toward his opponent, Captain Falcon reeled his fist back, it now glowing with a fiery energy. As he encroached on Viewtiful Joe’s position, he released a flaming uppercut.

Suddenly, Captain Falcon leapt off the ground, rocketing toward his opponent regardless of where he ended up after his last attack. The wall of fire disguised his movements, allowing him to spring from out of view and jab at Joe with his mighty Falcon Knee! The rush of it all caused his mouth to gargle with nonsense like “HUWAH!” and “DOOH!” as his elbow came slamming down next. Captain Falcon proceeded to break the combo string of attacks with a double slamming of his fists, trying to knock his foe back to the ground, a satisfied “CH’YES!” following suit.

After finishing off his combo, Captain Falcon allowed himself to descend into freefall, taking on the pose of a skydiver. As he fell toward his opponent, electricity began to surge from his body, glowing like a transformer about to explode with electric energy. The faster he fell, the stronger his surge became, until, at last, he either connected with the ground or Joe himself, causing a series of explosions to burst between their physical forms.

From the dust and smoke of the Falcon Dive’s explosions, Captain Falcon ascended, performing a series of backward airborne somersaults, as if he was a different blue speed demon. He landed perfectly on his own two feet. His suit was tattered and ravaged, his helmet had several cracks, including his visor. His face was almost completely purple from all the bruises, but regardless of all that, he held a big dumb grin and a thumbs up, to which the crowd adored.

Joe noticed that Captain Falcon was starting to run low on steam after that last big hit. Well that's what he thought until he came at him again with another string of attacks. Joe made to dodge them too.

For the last two hits Joe thought up something fun that might get the crowd roaring with excitement. Joe would fake getting hit before ultimately being 'defeated' by Captain Falcon. With him down and seemingly out Joe would activate the Take 2 and come right back up and strike a Viewtiful Pose!

That would be one for the fans to see! So Joe did that and took the blows that were very likely going to miss, not wanting his Take 2 to go to waste after using it and got sent flying into the arena wall after taking the last two hits on purpose. "Oh no I guess I wasn't good enough." as he passed out on the ground. 

Then suddenly as people would all assume he was down for the count, Joe started to glow with a strange light. His wounds were healing and his body moved back into place as he jumped back up off the ground and struck a pose, just as planned. 

"Lets rock baby yeah!" Joe exclaimed as he got right up after those attacks, the very attacks he had taken right on to show off like he always would. An exciting explosion going off behind him to show how cool he was as he posed.

"I'm not out of the race yet Captain Falcon! I decided to show you a little more of my power and that's exactly what I am going to do!" 

Joe surprised all as he got right back up with the attacks he took right on without dodging. "Now then time I show you what it's like to fight a true hero! Slow Motion!" 

Time seemed to slow down around Joe's body as he in turn got faster from this ability. 

"And now here's one last Six Cannon!" Joe would aim one last Six Cannon at Captain Falcon. This would be either a hit and Joe won or a miss and Joe likely going down for good this time, well at least not dead but definitely knocked out.

Joe would spend another VFX bar to increase the accuracy of this last attack by +1.

It was the calm after the storm, the dust from the impact crater was settling very slowly. It momentarily clouded Captain Falcon’s vision, making him unsure of what happened to his opponent after his flurry of attacks. While at first, he had his chest puffed out and broadly displayed, he soon fell into a slouch, panting heavily while he could catch his breath. He didn’t think the match was over just yet, but without any sign of his opponent, it was a free space of time to recollect himself just in case there was more to come.

Squinting through the airborne debris, Captain Falcon could see a hint of Viewtiful Joe’s costume in the distance. By the looks of it, his body impacted against the coliseum wall and he tumbled to the ground, almost lifelessly. The audience quelled into silence, along with the chief of police himself.

“Is that a knock-out I smell, Big Top!?” MC Ballyhoo chimed in over the loudspeaker.

“Is that what that is? I thought that was just you.”

Before the verdict could properly go out, Captain Falcon turn toward the crowd, his jaw crackling a bit as he pasted a smile on his face. A bit of his flaming falcon energy circled around his body as he balled his fists in a celebratory fashion. The captain raised his fists to the air, pumping them proudly as a ethereal falcon burst from his body, cawing as he proclaimed “ch’yes!”

The audience cried in uproarious applause, though it strangely wounded down at an accelerated rate. Odd, they usually cheered for longer than that…

"Lets rock baby yeah!"

The triangular eyes of Captain Falcon expanded into full circles as he heard those very words arise from behind him. In sudden shock, he whipped his head around, feasting his enlarged pupils on a not-so-knocked-out Joe, who looked strangely healthier than he had a moment earlier. Witchcraft! “HU-WUH!?” he blurted out in surprise. Worse yet, he had his Six Cannon readied and trained right on him. Viewtiful Joe was right, he couldn’t possibly withstand another blast from the Six Cannon and there was no way his feet were faster than his trigger finger. Unless…

The shot was fired, the blue and yellow beam slicing through the air and converging on Captain Falcon’s person at the speed of light. The flashing lights reflected off his damaged visor, but his eyes honed with precision. His arms folded across one another and he shouted “FALCON SHIELD!” A small bubble formed, enveloping his body like a pair of wings. The bubble burst under the pressure, but it was enough to subdue the blow to the point that the blow back only caused his heels to dig into the dirt. That said, he was certainly on his last legs.

Captain Falcon lurched forward, huffing, and puffing. “Don’t” he muttered breathlessly. His head sprung up, his eyes locking onto Viewtiful Joe. “Don’t count your falcons before they hatch!” he loudly proclaimed as he forced his legs into one last glory charge.

The match wasn’t over, and it looked like Joe was ready to fall at any moment. A light gust of wind might be able to knock him down. Captain Falcon had to favour speed and precision over power, luckily, he knew exactly how to do it. His sprint formed into a leap, his body forming into a dive kick that was being propelled by his fiery falcon energy, torpedoing toward Joe.

As his flaming feet extinguished themselves, he flipped himself forward with the aid of his ignited fist. The swooping motion of the raptor boost being brought down upon Joe’s helm.

The sluggish raptor boost was followed up by a quick series of jabs, Captain Falcon’s body moving so fast that he could barely process which of his limbs were being thrust against his opponent, the fatigue from battle quickly settling in. If this wasn’t it, he could see himself dropping before he could make anymore counterattacks.

At his final strike, Captain Falcon propelled himself past where Viewtiful Joe once was. He successfully made a three-point landing, his knee digging into the ground and his head rolling back in exhaustion. His parted lips huffed heavily, but he kept a smile for the audience. His dedication to keeping the audience entertained seemed to be giving him some major credit, as the crowd seemed to adore him.
