The gathered crowds roared at the fantastic stadium that was set up. It was something fantastic to behold and was more like a roller coaster in some areas than an actual race track. 

Several loops for racers with more futuristic cars was set up; and even hover tracks from F-Zero. While other areas for more conventional mounts were set up as the track had been measured to be perfectly fair no matter what path one took. 

There were several different paths, but they all were close enough for racers to see one another; unless of course they got smoked. 

The first area was a Green Hill Zone inspired area from Sonic's land as the racers would take the fantastic starting line that had a Latiku floating ready for them to begin. 

"Here we go! This is gonna be one for the books!!! These racers all look like they're ready to throw down!" 

The crowd was visible on the entire track via hover platforms and floating seats as well. 

Confetti fell from the skies as the racers would be set to make their appearance and take their marks. 

• Roll 1d20 to determine your mounts speed for the round.

• Attacking your opponents with ranged attacks and magic are allowed. Melee is allowed if you can get close enough as well. A successful hit will allow you to pass the person in question by +1 score/distance. Roll a 1d20 when attacking with ranged or melee if close enough, roll a 1d20 to dodge as well. Only one attack per round allowed in the race. If you hit a person behind you, the person behind them may pass them. If you hit the person in last place; you're just mean. Can only try to hit a person one place in front of or behind you.

• Roll your DEX (1dDEXstat) to see how well you drive. If you roll below 5 you crash and everyone will pass you.  

• Roll your STR to perform a speed boost and catch up to the racer ahead of you. One boost allowed per race. Whoever is in the lead after 10 Rounds (Laps) will be the winner. Can win by 1 if it comes down to neck and neck!

Link would ride up, waving to the crowd on Epona; his prized mount. The baby girl never failed him! She was still growing; just right for his size as he would literally gallop up to the starting line and with a mighty "HYAAAAAAA!" would rear her back up epicly putting on a little bit of a show for the crowd as he raised his sword and galloped about. 

Oh lord....I'm up against Captain Falcon, I hope he knows what a big fan I am. Doesn't matter...I'm shooting him with an arrow first chance I get!

Link takes his mark, waiting for the other competitors to arrive as he would sheath his sword and swing his legs waiting. Inspecting the tracks ahead best he could as he got a more determined look on his face.

"Uh, Crazy Dave, you sure this is a good idea? There's a legendary driver we're going up against... and that dude has a horse!"

"Don't worry, Bob, we'll make it through just I like I passed my driving licence in 93! Oh wait I failed that test..."

"... My name's Cob."



Dave would pull up to the line, pan secured tightly with a bungee chord he found, riding a massive ear of corn on wheels. There appeared to be some sort of Popcorn machine attached to the end of it, humming with energy. The ear of corn, rolling it's eye, would then pull up next to Young Link and Epona.

"Oh, look, George, there's a crowd here! Hello Crowd! Are you here to race?" Dave would smile, showing his 3 remaining teeth and waving at the crowd.

"Crazy Dave... Do you think we'll win?"

"Have you seen my car? She's about yea high, with a fridge, and a time machine, and a portable jacuzzi, and she talks like my mother did! Well, I think, I only met her once before she gave me to the milkman."

"...We're doomed."

The hum of the Blue Falcon could be heard from a mile away, but it was nothing compared to the heavy metal guitar strums that blared from the vehicle’s speakers. As the sound grew nearer, the crowds parted like the red sea, allowing the famed F-Zero racer to zoom right through without issue. The adoring and cheering fans could hardly even see the vehicle as it passed, it was just a big blue blur followed by a vortex of wind that shook them asunder.

As the Blue Falcon approached the starting line, it spun about like a race car that had its tire burst, violently whirling as though it was out of control. When the tip of its nose lined up with the starting position though, it stopped on a dime and perfectly nestled itself next to the odd corn shaped wagon. The canopy flipped open as the parked hovercraft continued to hum. “Ch’yes!” Captain Falcon loudly blustered with a fist pump. His grip was so tight that one could hear the leather scrunching.

Captain Falcon leaned over his console so that his triangular eyes could feast on the competition, though perhaps that phrasing was a bit too literal with the corn husk parked next to him. It was a bit odd, but he was hardly a stranger to bizarre racing vehicles. He merely looked at the near toothless rider of the contraption and displayed his rows of pearly whites with a grin. “Sweet ride, bro!” he called out with a thumbs up. “Hope you got enough popcorn for the show you’re about to see!”

Looking past the corn husk car though, there was a small child riding a horse. He looked familiar though… Green tunic… Blond hair… Pointy elf ears… He looked like that Link guy, but he was way too young. The guy he fought with in the Subspace Emissary event was definitely an adult last time he saw him. Then again, his friend Arle seemed to jump between being a toddler and a… full grown adult(?) all the time… or maybe Little Arle was her daughter. Either way, it wasn’t something too out of the ordinary. Maybe one day he’ll race Baby Falcon. Wouldn’t be the weirdest thing that’s happened in the Life Sphere.

Regardless of the young Link’s identity, Captain Falcon offered him a two-finger salute, a friendly gesture to a competitor, then focused his attention to the road ahead. All the loops, warped roads, and boost pads reminded him of home, a calming and meditative feeling. He took this brief moment to close his eyes, steadily breathe in through his nose, then out his mouth. No reports, no police drama, just him and the road.

Gripping his controls, he was ready to go.

Blues had been up for this race ever since he had seen it on the mission board, racing was always something he could get behind especially with his Red Striker of which he rode up to the starting line with ease. The hum of his engines were eager to be revved up and moved to the head of the race. Giving himself a brief introduction as his prized kart rode up to the starting line Blues would whistle his trademark song.

Once Blues rode up to the starting line he would notice the likes of the legendary Captain Falcon, who's skills in battle and racing were known rather well amongst those in LI. There was someone who looked like Link who was also reported for his immense bravery and skill in battle, though he looked rather young compared to the reports. Then there was this other guy with the Corn on the Cob style race car, Blues did not know of him but he must be skilled enough to race here right?

Engines humming and Blues ready to pedal to the metal. He was ready to go and it showed. "Well then let's make this a race to remember!" Blues said as he adjusted his helmet and scarf, making sure they were both on tight for the race. "Let's go!" Blues said ready to get started. Blues had his buster and shield at the ready just in case anyone tried anything.

Latiku would drop down over the roar of the vehicles and cheers of the crowd. Holding a flag as a magical giant stoplight would float down next to him. In a familiar sound via Mario Kart, the countdown began. 

Latiku would count down with his fingers.

Beem...Beem....Beem.... BEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!

Link would be waiting patiently as he would hear someone coming, he would turn his head to spot a......WHAT IN GODDESS' NAME?! "Hyaaaaaaaaah!" he would panic and pull out his sword at the god damn monstrosity approaching the starting line. 

He kept a serious yet adorable expression towards the thing that was actually Joe's corn car as it approached the starting line. When it talked Link's eyes literally widened even more as he looked at the person driving it....who appeared to be talking to either himself...the crowd...or someone else. With a confused expression; Link thought the guy seemed nice enough; but still turned his eyes warily and comically one last time as he sat on his horse next to the Corn Car....and was that a damn popcorn machine on the back? 

I've seen some crazy crap in my day...maybe crazier but this. Eh, I guess it's no crazier than a talking owl or talking animals....right?' Wait...what's that sound.'

His thoughts were interrupted, as Link would be met with sheer excitement as he actually saw the Blue Falcon rumbling toward him as the crowd parted ways and cameras flashed. Link's eyes would comically turn to stars as he sat literally mesmerized. Epona would literally smack him with her tail and give him an annoyed whinnie and grunt as he rubbed the back of his hatted head with a smile of embarrassment. When Captain Falcon blasted off toward the start line, Link would get an interested expression as the car would literally spin in a circle while moving forward; smoke kicking up as it came to a halt perfectly in it's starting position. Link would then get a nervous sweatdrop over his head metphorically at this move. 'Holy crap....' he thought to himself. The heavy metal sounds blaring from the car. Link was tempted to show him a thing or two as Zora Link about metal; but it would have to wait until after he tried to kick his butt in this race. 

Then, Protoman would finally appear as he came humming right up to the line, seemingly ready to go as he merely commented let's get this thing started. 

Link would also ready himself as Latiku would appear. Getting a face way to determined for most ten year olds. He readied himself. The countdown began, the last beep was heard as Link let out a mighty. 

"HYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" as Epona would let out a fierce cry in response, one heard across many battlefields, but today, the track!!!

Epona would rocket forth so hard at the final beep that a literal shockwave would appear at the starting line. The horse moved with legendary, unnatural speed faster than even some cars could manage. Link's hat flapped in the wind behind him as 3 tracks appeared before him on the path ahead.

Grinning with excitement, Link chose 'obstacle' as he moved Epona to the left; his hat and clothes roaring in the wind as Epona's hoofbeats literally moved so fast they left sparks. He approached a draw bridge as it began to raise to challenge him. It would move upward but way to slow for Epona's current speed as he would literally leap over it and the river it ran over causing the crowd to go wild. 

Next he approached what seemed to be swinging logs on a track as he approached he realized he was right. Standing on Epona in a fancy display; he would actually crouch down and in a slow-mo perform a leap. Hopping across the swinging logs stepping once on each with his foot as he would leap back onto Epona's saddle with a split. "HYAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" he would yell again with a confident smile on his face as he made a hard right on a wide curve heading into what looked to be a bunch of thwomps from the Mushrom Kingdom waiting for him up ahead.

The intensity of Captain Falcon’s excitement nearly gave him a heart attack. The waiting period of the starting line was a nearly lethal substance, hopefully his enemies couldn’t find a way to harness it. The seconds that dragged on like hours would quickly wash away as their final rival for glory came upon the starting line. Far be it from him to not get a good eye on the competition.

Captain Falcon knew not of this Protoman, but if there was one word he could describe him, it was stylish. Always good to see people appreciate the helmet and scarf combo, bonus points on the colour combination. All he needed was a nice navy-blue jumpsuit and some yellow gloves. It was a given that he was easily the biggest competition out of the three, given the fact that his choice of ride seemed to be the most up to date in terms of technology. That said, apparently the course was balanced so that any driver/rider had an equal opportunity, so it could be anyone’s game. ‘Could’ being the optimum word.

The Lakitu finally came down and those familiar lights flared. Captain Falcon didn’t even need to have his eyes open, once the final beep blared, he knew it was time to go. He revved his engines until he felt that burst of speed thrust him forward over the starting line.

The engines of the Blue Falcon gave off a lukewarm hum, struggling to accelerate from its starting speed. There was something certainly wrong when a horse was outpacing a state-of-the-art racing machine from the future. With confusion, Captain Falcon looked down at his control console. The poor girl must’ve been gun shy from the lack of racing it done in all these years. A grease monkey Captain Falcon was not, so what the technical issue was, he had no clue, so he just petted the console like it was an animal and spoke to it in hushed tones. “Shhh, you’re doing your best, I know.”

Accidentally, as he was stroking the console, he flipped a couple of switches that he probably shouldn’t have. The mix of inputs suddenly kicked the engine into overdrive, rocketing the hovercraft forward and directly into the Zero-G loops. Briefly, his arms flew into the air, like he was riding a rollercoaster, but his hands quickly gripped back onto the console. He had to steer himself well if he still wanted to win this race!

There was a trick to these loops, he knew this well. He hadn’t won numerous Grand Prix with this knowledge! Hugging the walls of the track while in mid-loop gave an extra speed boost. Not by much, but F-Zero races were all about shaving off milliseconds. As his vehicle continued to loop around the track, he guided toward the wall, very carefully. A grin grew on his face as he could feel the Blue Falcon growing one iota faster than it had previously, but he over-estimated the distance. His vehicle wobbled and the horrendous sound of metal scrapping against metal rung through his ears. He was too close! He quickly jerked the Blue Falcon away from the wall, avoiding a near crash as his vehicle stabilized.

That was a rookie mistake, and he nearly knocked himself out of the race! Too much time crunching numbers and not enough on the race track. That said, the race was still early, but by the looks of things, the young Link was still in the lead by a long shot.
