The Kart Racing
Small Update (7/20): Some changes were made for kart caps in order to allow for more customization. Small buffs to Ice Mine and Electroweb.
• This thread's post order consists of me > everyone else > me again.
• To calculate the kart's movement, you’ll roll a 1d20. This’ll determine the distance you’re gonna cover. The one with the highest overall distance will be the leading racer.
• At every 60 Distance covered, the character will get an Item Crate, thus receiving an item. The item received is determined by a roll made before the Distance roll. Whoever is in first will roll a 1d3, second to fourth will roll a 1d5, fifth and sixth will roll a 1d7, while seventh and eighth place will roll a 1d8. The character can opt to maintain the item and use it at a later occasion, but be forewarned that they can only hold one item at a time.
• Throwing items require a 1d20 unless stated otherwise. Likewise, dodging items requires a 1d20. In the case of a tie, the winning roll goes to the attacker.
• In simpler terms, a post's roll order goes like this: Dodge item > Item Crate > Item Use > Distance
• Your karts do not share the same stat spread as you do, however you can customize their own stats to your heart’s content! ...well, sort of.
The karts have 4 different ‘disciplines’:Speed: Affects Distance rolls.By default, each kart has 10 in each stat (or 0 Mod). Karts have 8 free stat points that you can distribute unto the stat disciplines. The cap for each stat is 16 points (or +3 Mod) for positives, and 6 points (or -2 Mod) for negatives. The stats must add up to 48 points at the end.
Tech: Affects item throwing and dodging.
Acceleration: Affects Distance loss. If you’re hit by an item, you gain or lose 5 extra Distance per Acceleration Mod. (e.g. +1 Acceleration would cut a 20 Distance loss to 15)
Luck: Affects Item Crate dice.
• The Item List goes as follows:1 - Koopa Shell: This item kinda speaks for itself, doesn't it? No Koopas were harmed in the making on this item. Targets opponent in front or behind the character. Opponent loses 30 Distance if hit.• In the case a dice roll ends up with a negative result, it'll be rounded out to zero instead.
2 - Ice Mine: A mine that kinda-sorta resembles a snowflake. Better watch your step when this is in play! Can target opponents in front or behind the character. Opponent loses 18 Distance and has a -3 penalty to their current Distance roll if it hits.
3 - Electroweb: An electrical trap that, well...resembles a spider web. May or may not have been inspired by a certain Pokemon. Targets the racer behind or in front of the character (if there is one, anyway). Opponent loses 22 Distance if hit, and will inflict a -2 penalty to their current Distance roll.
4 - Turbo Boost: A handy little tool if you need to get a quick speed boost. Gives a +6 bonus to the current Distance roll on the turn it’s used.
5 - Boomerang Cutter: A weapon based on data regarding a strange robot. Targets the two opponents in front of the character. Opponent loses 25 Distance if hit.
6 - Super Engine: The Turbo Boost's more long-lasting cousin, so to speak. Gives the character a +3 bonus for their Distance rolls for 2 turns.
7 - Spiny Shell: This vicious monstrosity soars through the skies in order to ruin someone's day...the leading racer's, to be more specific. Has a +2 bonus to its throw. Leading racer loses 50 Distance if hit.
8+ - Invincibility: Whether it be a magical voodoo mask, a starman or a potion, this item makes you invulnerable to any attack thrown at you. You also get a +8 to the Distance roll the turn it’s used on. Lasts until the next turn’s Distance roll.
• This is a 3-lap race with 175 Distance per lap. In other words, whoever manages to accumulate 525 Distance first wins the race.
• I'll attempt to place a 15-day deadline on posts. If you miss your post by then, you'll get knocked down 3 positions. Miss the other one, and you'll be disqualified!

Mission Brief: It's an average day in the Life Sphere...but then suddenly, the TVs and radios all turn to static before passing up a message.
"Greetings, citizens of the Life Sphere! I am Emperor Velo XXVII, ruler of a galaxy far, far away! Word of racing prowess between some of your finest warriors has reached my ears, and I decided to create some...entertainment around this domed city. I have constructed a racetrack at the Rainbow Square, and I require competitors to, as you say, 'burn some rubber'! Any willing participants for Velo's Nitro Challenge, sign up at the form I've placed in the Sunshine Circle! I hope to see you soon..."
With that message relayed, the TV and radios return to their natural programming...

Sub-Objective 2: Reach 1st place.
