    In the Kongo Jungle, not too far away from the Teldrassil Enclave, was a village of small, colorful elf-like creatures called Jinjos. Unlike the elves from the Enclave, however, the Jinjos were actually quite friendly, and lived in a surprisingly peaceful forest environment. The forest had become denser than it had been in a long time, but the area wasn’t quite as dangerous as many of the other areas in the jungle. How the village had managed to avoid destruction due to starvia infestation or aggressive wildlife was something that the Jinjos couldn’t answer with 100% certainty. Maybe it was just luck. Or, if the majority of the Jinjos were to be believed, it was due to the surrounding area being under the protection of the Jinjonator. Though it was more likely that the area was protected by the power of the Crystal Jiggy, but that’s a story for another time.

    Connected to the village through an underground passageway was Spiral Mountain. It was a relatively small area, but once housed a certain animal duo, as well as some rather cartoony wildlife. The place had been abandoned for a long time, though, as it had been devastated by the creation of Li. Nothing had been inhabiting it for a long time, but had recently become the base of operations for a group of hostiles. Green troll-things, dragon-like bat creatures, and more had moved in, and the Jinjos were terrified of what would happen if they tried to attack Jinjo Village.

    “So…how much longer will this take?” Kazooie inquired. She and Banjo had been waiting in the underground passageway between Jinjo Village and Spiral Mountain. The passageway once suffered a massive cave-in, but with the help of Mumbo, Jumba Wumba, and the Moles, the place was cleared out and its roof was reinforced with wooden supports in order to prevent future cave-ins. Unfortunately, the entrance to Spiral Mountain had to be boarded up to keep the baddies out. The boards could be removed once Spiral Mountain was cleared out, and that was why the two were there.

    “You said that people signed up for the mission. You didn’t lie about that, did you?” Banjo asked.

    
    “I didn’t. I’m just hoping they show up soon,” Kazooie explained.

   
     “Same here. They should show up eventually. Then we can get started.”

It wasn't too far of a trip for him towards the Kongo Jungle. Passing through the familiar mushroom territory was seeming more common than ever. The lower count of infected made the trips easier for him along with y'know, chance of infected encounters. He had still yet to see one but the idea didn't come near his interest with a ten foot pole. Keeping his distance was going to be the safest bet for now. Maybe a bit more firepower would boost his ego some. He considered his own abilities for a while as his boots moved from the barren kingdom to a vegetative mess.

Big tree, check. Pac looked up towards the sky where the tree seemed to break into the sky. Jeez, how do you get one that tall. He cupped a hand around his eyes with the other around his snack and spied curiously up at it a bit longer before returning to ground. Alright, the jinjo village shouldn't be too far from here. Pac tossed the bunch of grapes he had been carrying into his mouth and swiped his hands together. A little more of wavering through the thick vegetation gave him sight of the small village. If that was there, then where are the two Banjo and Kazooie at...

Some more moments of wandering around and tripping over a root led to a underground passageway. PAC-MAN cautiously lowered himself into it, taking slow steps as to not catch anythings attention. Last thing he wanted was to be caught off-guard down here. He continued along the rocky cave, taking glances around every now and again. Picking up a figure up ahead, Pac picked up his pace into a bit of a jog.

"Waka Waka!" He announced, greeting the bear and bird duo. They looked friendly enough. Pac smiled and looked around them to the boarded up wall. Well, couldn't be too much farther from Spiral Mountain. He was ready to roll when they were.

Just as PAC-Man would arrive in the area, a mysterious, ornate book would suddenly appear on the cave floor. Before anyone was able to take a closer look, it would spring open, and a...rather strange looking purple cat sprung out of the pages, gracefully back-flipping in the air before landing back down on the book that had summoned her. The cat looked around at the three others surrounding her, sizing them up. "Huh....honestly I've partnered with stranger people. Remember the weird tentacle-eye guy?" she says to...seemingly no one, until the book she's sitting on rustles it's pages, like they had caught in a breeze. "...Yeah, you're right, Book, these guys are probably nicer. Better then the rat, at least." Was she...talking to her book?

Noticing she was probably getting a few odd looks, Yuumi snapped back to attention, waving to her partners. "Oh, right...Hi! I'm Yuumi! Who's ready to kick tail, defeat our enemies, and maybe knock some cups over?" ....a strange one, for sure, but then again, she is just a cat. "I'm here to help out with this whole...infestation problem. Plus a spiral shaped mountain sounded cool! Is everyone here? Can we get started soon?"

Banjo and Kazooie's companions had finally arrived! It was about time, too. Banjo was ready to nod off and get some shut-eye. If it had taken just a few minutes longer, Kazooie would've followed suit. But they didn't need to now, as they finally arrived. 

Passing by the Jinjo Village, where some faint chatter could be heard if one got close enough, and stepping into the passageway, their first companion's footsteps were easy to notice. Looking forward, Banjo's face lit up. It was Pac-Man! Quite the honor, really. Yet another classic video game character, not to mention one of the biggest faces in gaming. Pac-Man was more than welcome on their team.

"Pac-Man! Good to see you, you son of a gun!" Banjo said happily as Pac-Man approached. He then offered to shake hands. If Pac-Man were to accept it, the handshake would likely seem oddly familiar to any movie buff. Kazooie couldn't help but roll her eyes.

That wasn't all. 3 might have been a crowd, but a crowd wouldn't suffice for this type of mission. The 4th (and debatably 5th) participant of this mission appeared, seemingly from nowhere. This was less of a familiar face. A technicolor cat? With a book? A living book that wasn't Cheato? VERY unfamiliar.

"Hmm... hey Yuumi. Don't think we've met before. Thanks for helping out," Banjo replied.

"Ah, you must be one of those 'MOBA' characters. Not exactly the most time-tested genre. No wonder you're a stranger."

"What's that supposed to mean, Kazooie?"

"Nothing. I'm just saying that MOBAs are kind of a new thing. It sure doesn't go back to the days of the Nintendo 64, from what I kno-"

"OI! WHO'S DERE!?"

An unfamiliar voice boomed from the other side of the boarded up entrance. Banjo and Kazooie's chatter must have alerted some nearby goons to their presence. This was bad. They had to do something, or the group would be attacked first. Luckily, Kazooie had an idea...

"No one!"

((Yes, Kazooie is actually trying to tell them that the group isn't there. For this, Charisma will be rolled. On a 12 or higher, it'll be a success.))

There was a long pause after Kazooie blurted that out. Eventually the same voice spoke again.

"Alright den. BOYZ! Let's get a moove on!"

Wow, those green things sure were stupid. And they spoke in a rather odd fashion. But it worked. Some loud thumps could be heard as the group moved away.

"Good thinking, Kazooie," Banjo whispered. He then turned his attention to Pac-Man and Yuumi. "Come on, let's remove these boards. Then we should be able to sneak up on them and attack them when their backs are turned."1d20

PAC-MAN gladly accepted the handshake.  He returned the strong shake with firm grip.  He hadn't seen the bear fella before but he's wasn't going to complain about such a thing.  The meet N greet was off to such swell start he didn't feel need to bring it up.  Quite the strong grip he laid down but Pac would expect such of a bear with their strength and all.  He beamed and gave a wink up the bird Kazooie in a playful manner.  This mission was off to a swell start.

He was surprised he didn't trip on the sudden book on the way in or was it already there?  Taking a step back, he was a befuddled to see a cat come out of the book.  That wasn't something you see everyday, he thought back in counter.  Oh, and it could talk.  That didn't bother him any as he had seen plenty of talking animals back in the Sphere like his friend Banjo here.  Magic books on the other hand.  He felt he had encountered one in the past.  Maybe two.  Something something ghost ink.  The yellow man gave a bit of a shudder at the memory of it.

But, yes! Back to the topic at hand.  Pac thumbed back to the wooden boards with question.  Now would be the time he wish he had his toolbox with him.  A hammer would do the trick prying them off but no such tools at the time.  Guess it be good ol' fashioned elbow grease to pull them down.  The four were tuned out for a bit as he began to walk over to the wall, hearing something a mobile or something.  Just as he was about to get a grip on one of the boards he found himself frozen.  He expression turned to one of panic as his hands hovered in the air and with a foot half way up.  Oh sweet mother fairy please help.  His mouth stayed shut as he attempted to not move a pixel.  It felt like an hour  but was likely maybe a handful of seconds before the person on the other side decided to move on.  He waited a few more seconds before letting out a huge breath.  Pac would turn back around to Kazooie and give a thumbs up before returning back to the boards.

Yuumi tilted her head in confusion, staring at Kazooie for a second when she greeted her. "Huh? A....moba? What's that mean?" She looked down at Book, but it flicked its pages, just as confused as she was. A strange couple, this bear and bird were, but it wasn't anything she couldn't work with. The yellow...circle thing, too. He looked like he could fight just as well, despite his strange-looking appearance. The yellow thing didn't look too happy to see her, though. Why would that be? Who wouldn't like a magic cat?

Unfortunately, that train of thought was rudely interrupted when a loud, gruff voice bellowed into the cave. Yuumi froze and remained silent, hoping that the owner of that voice, whoever they were, would go away. When Kazooie yelled out that no one was here, Yuumi flinched, expecting that voice to come barreling in here at any moment....but it never came. Once she heard to footsteps walk away, Yuumi relaxed, breathing a sigh of relief. "I can't believe that worked...These things must be really dumb if they fell for that." With a shrug of her tiny shoulders, Yuumi hopped off Book and walked over to where Pac-Man had started to pry the boards off the wall. Grabbing at them with her paws and teeth, she tried helping Pac-Man pull them off. She might not be strong enough to actually do that, but, by the Rift, she was gonna try!

    "Don't remove all of them. Just remove the ones on the bottom, then we'll crawl in," Banjo instructed. Those new Smash Spirits were doing wonders for his critical thinking, it seemed. That, or he and Kazooie planned it out beforehand. In any case, as the group removed the boards, it seemed like the Jinjos didn't do a very good job at nailing the boards in place. If anything, all the boards did was make it look like there was nothing of value on the other side. Considering how dumb those things were, though, that was probably enough.

    Popping off the boards on the bottom, Banjo and Kazooie crouched down and crawled until they reached the other side, Banjo giving a hand signal suggesting the others do the same. Of course, for Pac-Man, this was probably easier said than done.

    This was a good opportunity to look around Spiral Mountain. Unfortunately, it wasn't pretty.



    The place was still wrecked, much like it was in Banjo Tooie. The only major difference was the fact that some of the new inhabitants had apparently taken the time to construct some crude wooden huts and walls. This meant that some parts of the area were out of sight. Hopefully it would stay that way, otherwise the inhabitants would likely swarm them.

    To the left, the creatures from before, now revealed to be a group of three Gruntlings, were sitting next to the river, filling some waterskins with murky-looking water. Each of them had their backs turned, and were mumbling to each other about something. Banjo and Kazooie saw an opportunity to attack first and took it.

((Alright, we're getting into combat now. Since Kazooie was able to prevent the Gruntlings from attacking first last time, the group will be able to attack first. And since it's a sneak attack, everyone gets a +2 modifier to their attack rolls.

Now, as for the whole "Collateral Damage" thing, it's simple: Any move that would reasonably cause environmental damage counts as causing Collateral Damage equivalent to its damage. Moves like these include explosions in general (Like the Grenade or Clockwork Kazooie Egg), or fire-based attacks (Like Yuumi's Ignite or the Fire Egg) if they miss. This is a grassy environment after all. Don't want to start a wildfire. The group can cause 60% of Collateral Damage until Banjo considers it "too much." PAC-MAN watched as the duo dropped down and crawled underneath the boards.  Maybe he should lay off the grapes for situations like this.  He crouched down and waddled over to the crawlspace to have his roundness get caught on the board above.  One board taken off couldn't hurt, right?  At least enough to let him through.  Grabbing the board it was surprisingly easy to take off.  He set it aside on the wall adjacent and pulled himself into his classic form before he waka'd in.

Exiting the tunnel, Pac popped himself back up-right and took a look around.  It wasn't looking too good.  He spotted the village the mission flyer had mentioned and a few structures around them.  Jinjos they were called.  It was intriguing to see what the creation of Li could do to a place.  Only made him think of what could've happened to...

Banjo was running off towards the river where a group of creatures were drinking some nasty looking water.  Ew.  Pac moved his mouth around to the side trying to not imagine the taste.  Well, if it's water they want, it's water he'll give 'em!

Taking a leap above the two-clothed ones, a set of oranges mitts were held down where they emitted a flash of blue dots.  A shiny, red hydrant fell from Pac's hands and was dropped down onto the Red Grunt (A).  Plopping back onto the ground he looked over towards the B-variant Red Grunt and began to bite away in it's direction.

Once the boards had been pulled away (mostly by PAC-MAN), Yuumi scrambled underneath them after her new friends, flicking her tail behind her to beckon Book to follow. What waited for her at the end of this passageway....well it wasn't anything she expected.

When Kazooie had said "Spiral Mountain", Yuumi had pictured a pretty mountain range with peaks spiraling into the sky. This was definitely not that. This place looked horrible! Everything was knocked over! Yuumi shook her head with a small huff. Whatever Banjo and Kazooie wanted with this place, that was there business. But she promised that she'd help them, and so she shall!

Once the group was out of the passageway. Yuumi jumped back onto Book, who caught her in it's open pages. Time for some action! Seeing the other two spring onto the two grunts, Yuumi decided to lend Pac a hand. After all, why should he fight on his own while she turned the other fight into a three on one? She floated over to PAC-MAN on Book, hovering close to him. "Let me give you a hand here, chompy."

(PAC-MAN! Yuumi has Attached to you, and you are now her Anchor! For at least 2 turns, Yuumi is untargetable, but will take 50% of all damage dealt to you! In addition, you receive a 10% damage bonus to all attacks!)

As Pac would feel a wave of energy wash over him, Yuumi started flipping through Book's pages. She wasn't just gonna sit on the sidelines passively, no, she was gonna try to knock this guy over!

    "YA STUPID GITS! WHAT D'YA FINK YER DOIN'?!" the first of the Red Gruntlings shouted, as it felt Kazooie's beak stabbing into it. It was about to fight back with an overhead smash, but was interrupted in an unexpected way: A Fire Hydrant to the head, which hit it hard, and made a mighty THUNK.

    The second Red Gruntling wasn't any luckier. It was chomped on, then hit with a bolt of magic, which caused it to back up, nearly falling backwards into the river.

    The Gruntling felt like everything was in fast motion, but still made an effort to attack the yellow circle thing that was biting into it.

Pac-Man! Red Gruntling B is fighting back! Roll a 10 or higher in Dexterity or get smacked in the face for 12% damage.

    The First Red Gruntling also fought back, shrugging off the Hydrant to the head and attacking the Bear and Bird attacking them with a charging shoulder bash.

Banjo and Kazooie will need to roll a 12 or higher in Dexterity or be hit by the charge for 14% damage.

    The leader of the two Red Gruntlings, while still dazed from the Beak Buster, attempted to fight back. Unfortunately for it, the only thing it could do in its current state was flail its arms around wildly, with no specific target in mind.

I mis-remembered the effects of the Stun status last turn. Apologies. Still, since the Stun wasn't cured, Blue Gruntling will be flailing around this turn. Everyone! Roll an 8 or higher or be hit for 15% damage.

    Banjo and Kazooie weren't very lucky. The first Red Gruntling was able to crash into them before they could get away, knocking them back. As Banjo tried to get back up, he was punched in the face by the dazed leader, knocking him back down.

    "Alright. Looks like we'll have to finish these off quick."

    To do this, Banjo rushed over to the Gruntling closest to death's door, with Kazooie prepared to strike.

Deciding to give this fruit thingy another go, Pac held up a mitt and attempted to summon up an apple.  The red pixels began to stack up in his hand before collapsing and scattering off of his hand.  C'mon.  He gave it another go, managing to conjure one up and throwing it at the grunt before following after it in his retro form.

Yuumi remained floating beside PAC-MAN as he effortlessly avoided the Gruntlings attacks. Seems she had picked a good anchor this time around. As the yelllow ball started throwing fruit toward the red and blue monsters, Yuumi egged him on, though it seemed like she was doing nothing but throwing off his aim. "Come on, come on, get 'em!" Yuumi encouraged, still floating close to PAC on her book. Regardless of how she was not helping Pac's aim in the slightest, at least she was pretty gung-ho about everything.

As Pac's attacks failed to connect, Yuumi smirked a little. "Come on, you can do better then that. Here, let me show you!" Flipping through Book again, she points a paw forward, trying to set the Gruntlings ablaze!

The blue leader of the trio was punished for his wild flailing by being targeted by Yuumi, who was able to smack it in the face a couple times with some fireballs. These fireballs were too much for it to handle now, and the brute, still reeling from the Beak Buster from before, fell over and...well, for the purposes of the mission, it was dead.

Though one of Yuumi's fireballs missed their mark. Rather than hitting the Blue Gruntling, it missed and hit the ground in front of it, causing a burst of flames that burnt the surrounding plantlife.

The remaining Gruntling, somehow holding on despite the circumstances it found itself in, knew a losing battle when it saw one. If these intruders were going to be dealt with, backup was needed. The Gruntling pulled a blowing horn out of some sort of pocket on its clothing, and blew into it hard, alerting everything nearby to the party's presence.

"Ha! Take dat, ya gits! 'Ave fun dealin' wit' dem! Oi'm outta 'ere!"

The Gruntling ran off to the right. Banjo and Kazooie reasoned it was trying to seek refuge in the area with the tree stumps, or maybe a bit farther out. Whatever its intentions, some new enemies were arriving already. 

These enemies were Gruntydactyls, minions Gruntilda and her sisters once populated Spiral Mountain with, as if to throw salt into the wound. Three of these things swooped in quickly after hearing the Gruntling's horn blowing, and already looked poised to batter and bite the group into submission.

Three Gruntydactyls have arrived. You can target the remaining Gruntling if you wish, but he won't be participating in this battle anymore, and since he's fleeing, his Hit Threshold is now 15 for anything targeting Dex. Still, he'd probably go down if you so much as sneezed on him.

As for the Gruntydactyls, the first two will bite Pac Man. Pac Man! Roll 12 or higher in Dex or be hit for 13%!

The third will attack Banjo and Kazooie, who they will try to ram. 13 or higher Dex save, 11% damage on fail.

Banjo and Kazooie weren't taking any chances here. After last turn, the last thing they needed was to take more damage. They shielded the thing's ram attack and quickly retaliated with a Beak Barge.

Banjo and Kazooie's Beak Barge hit the Gruntydactyl so hard, the thing was thrown far and away, at least twenty feet in fact. Good start, the two of them thought. And they had only just begun, as well. The other two were still kicking, so the two of them swooped in themselves to deal even more damage while they still could.

He has really got to get a grip on this fruit thing.  He still didn't quite get it.  When was chucking fruit as someone any good?  He had tried to eat them before but they all tasted kind of flat.

The grunt tooting his horn had alerted a swarm of dinosaurs and it had caught Pac-Man off guard; two swooped in and bit at him.  He held his head after the assault and dove down to the ground.

Darned things had done his own job against him and he wasn't to happy about it.  A good ol' flip kick oughta bring 'em down to earth.
