Character Name: Mari (Monster Racer)

History On Li: Mari was with two teams of her monsters one day, high in the mountains of Europe. She was hoping to train them against one another, so that they could become even better racers then they already were. But when the subspace wave hit her earth, the legendary monsters that lived on it cried out in pain and their combined power unintentionally opened a portal near Mari.
This portal intrigued Mari and she jumped into it, while her monsters followed her into it without any hesitation. Arriving in a wasteland environment, Mari’s monsters stuck close by her. As a group of infected closed in on them, dealing with them in haste Mari and her monster did what they did best. They ran. Not knowing where she was, Mari and her monsters just ran in till they found the Life Sphere. She was offered shelter and medical help, once she’d arrived.
Storied History: Mari came from a place where monster were discovered, that have a desire to race other monsters. This discovery leads to the establishment of a racing league, which spanned all seven continents of Earth and lead to creation of the Star Seven. Who were champions of the racing league, Mari herself was an inspiring racer who went to get her racing license from Star Island. Passing the test with flying colours, Mari picked her starter monster Cuboom who she later nicknamed Storm due to its purple grey colouring. Soon she was on the fast track to racing glory as she went around the world racing in tournaments, first beating the Star Seven of Oceania and befriending several monsters along the way.
She soon went onto Asia where she ran into an evil group, which were restricting the racing tournaments in their own area. But after a brief intrusion into their hideout to find the local Star Seven, Mari was able to thwart their plans by defeating their members in a few races. Continuing on to other continents and their respective trophies, then she’d battle the respective Star Seven of the region. Along her travels, Mari fell in to other kinds of trouble. When she was in a plane crash on the way to Eurasia, and had to walk through wastelands of snow just to get back to civilisation and help those that survived the crash with her.
Going on to beat many of the Star Seven, and befriend many monsters along the way. Who she either had joined one of her teams, or breeds it with another monster to get an even better one. When in South America, Mari was having trouble beating the Star Seven of the region who was second best in the world. In hopes of beating the man, Mari bred some of her monsters and come up with a brilliant monster in a Purrl she called Augustine (Because of its yellow/gold colouring). As well as that, she befriended a Noxout who she called Sapphire. In a tight race to the finish, Purrl won the race for Mari and she went on to race the world champion in Europe.
As she travelled around Europe to train herself and her monsters before the race, she befriended more monsters and found more adventures in places like Stone Henge and Mount St Etna. After Mari and her monster became strong enough she took on the world champion, and during a hard, long and neck to neck race. Mari won by the skin of her teeth, and became the world monster racing champion. But that wasn’t the end of her adventure, because she had a friend who had been following her around the whole time and helping her out. When returning to Star Island, she was challenged to a tournament in a secluded underground location. Where she went up against not only the Star Seven but other strong racers she met along the way, after hard races through them she came to race a person called the legendary racer. It turned out to be her friend Misaki, and after a brief explanation and apology the two raced against one another.
It was one of Mari’s hardest races yet, as Misaki had a legendary monster as her race partner. While Mari was falling back on her trophy winning Augustine, but in the end through sheer determination and a bit of cunning Mari won. And the legendary racer title was bestowed upon her, with the express condition that she protected the monsters in her team and around the world.
Monster Teams

Cuboom (Storm) – Is a playful and loyal monster that’s been with Mari since her start in racing, always curious and ready for a race. Storm has went through thick and thin for Mari and alongside her, she’s Mari’s best monster with a perchance for running on sand at full speed without issue.
Primary Attacks: Bite, Slash & Pounce
Special Attacks: Charge – This isn’t an attack exactly, and is more like an electrical charge. It can hurt anyone/thing near Storm, by arcing over to said person if they’re electrifiable. Other then this, it’s used to increase the strength and severity of its Cublast.
Lunge – Much like the Pounce, Storm jumps on a foe and pins them down. But instead of just knocking them, Storm bites into their person. Often aiming for vital parts, and if Storm has used Charge recently. A slight electrical charge will erupt from its fangs, and into the person it laid it’s fangs into.
Cublast – Three balls of electrical energy surround Storm, and he shoots forward towards a foe. Causing a triple blast effect and protecting her from damage on the first blasting charge. When Charge is used before this move, the energy balls don’t increase in number. But they do increase in speed and severity, while his charge forward is that much faster.
Purrl (Augustine) – is a monster that Mari bred specifically for beating the South American Star Seven member. But after she won that for Mari, Augustine became an integral part of her team and helped her win many more tournaments. Being a bred monster meant she had skills no normal monster had, she was equally skilled moving across sand as she was fire/lava. While her movement in water is unparallel, even when one compares here to a fish.
Primary Attacks: Bounce – Augustine bounds into the air, and comes down onto a foes head. Tail Swipe – Much like a low kick, Augustine swipes her tail at a foe’s legs in attempt to trip them up. Head butt – Charging at her foe, Augustine slams full speed head down. And head butts them in the gut or any area she can hit accurately.
Special Attacks: Power Spur – A counter move that works, when Augustine is attacked. She attacks back with twice the force that hits her, usually using one of her basic attacks as retaliation.
Hyper Speed – Augustine uses this move, to get an increase in her speed. This allows her to move faster then normal. She’ll essentially disappear for brief moments. While in hyper speed she can trip up a foe as she speeds by, or escape danger.
Fiery Temptress – Augustine engulfs herself in flames, which raise high above her person. Using this she can burn those above her or around her, when using her hyper speed before hand. She can run around with the fire going, burning anyone that comes across her path.
Noxout (Sapphire) – Is a monster Mari befriended in South America, and who helped her win against the Star Seven of the region. At first Sapphire was a little stubborn with Mari and acted nonchalant to her, but soon come to be a big part of Mari’s team and soon grew to like the young girl. Sapphire is unparalleled when running on or near fire/lava, and has no ill effects from those elements.
Primary Attacks: Slice – And upward slice of Sapphire’s claws. Gouge – Sapphire lunges at a foes chest, and digs her claws deep into their chest. Ripping them out moments later, or wiggling them around first for extra pain. Tail Mount – A strange move Sapphire jumps on a foe, and sticks its large tail in the foes face. Momentarily blindly the foe, and disrupting its movements.
Special Attacks: Charisma – Sapphire uses its tail and general charm, against a foe much like the move attract. This however is not restricted to gender, and will enthrall a foe into a daze or make them submissive/suggestible.
Thrust Claw – Blasting forward in a burst of speed, Sapphire claws at her target with high speed claw strikes. Sometimes she’ll spin around and hit again, as long as she has room. Sapphire can repeatedly use this move on a foe, with a low chance of being hit.
Stink Bomb – An attack where, Sapphire creates a ball of poison from her tail. And then lobs it at her foe, but not before lighting it on fire. She can hold back the fire, and live the poison balls rolling. Causing anyone that hits it, to become poisoned for a couple of posts.

Wolfreez (Rarge) – is a monster Mari befriended late in her journey, but become a quick member of the team when he helped her win an important race. He’s a steadfast and loyal monster and racer, who always stands by Mari whatever the trouble maybe and has saved her life on more then one occasion. Rarge is skilled at racing on both fire/lava and snow capped environments, not being hindered by either element when exposed to it.
Primary Attacks: Launch – Charging forward, Rarge slams into a foe with the full force of its body.
Lunge Roll – Much like a lunge, Rarge jumps at his foe and onto their chest. But instead of pinning them, he sticks his claws into them. Then he rolls forward and tosses them away, by retracting his claws.
Pounce Flip – Rarge pounces on his target, with all the force a jump of his could muster. And once he hits their chest dead on, Rarge flips off and pushes the target away. Back flipping safely to the ground, afterwards.
Special Attacks: Power Charge – A move that does nothing except strength Rarge’s body, and once implemented all of Rarge’s charge based attacked are increased in strength. Including those both basic and special in nature, they’re increased by two fold their normal damage.
Searing Burn – A flame surrounds Rarge, and anything that touches him or who he touches gets a nasty burn for two posts, before it putters out. This can be used in conjunction with charging attacks, or even his lunging roll.
Frozen Flame – The flames on Rarge’s back flicker faster and also get larger. Causing a reverse effect of his Searing Burn, and freezes anything he touches or is touched by. Like his Searing Burn, his Frozen Flame can be used with most of his basic attacks. But isn’t compatible with any flame based attacks, because of the conflicting temperatures.
Quercus (Grey Bark) – Is a nine foot tall Treant type monster, that runs well on fire/lave despite its appearance. Runs like the wind when on grass, and is as fast as the devil in the water. As a being personally, Grey Bark is rather docile and obeys its master commands. Found in the ruins of Stone Henge, Grey Bark is a top racer despite its size and tree like nature. The flowers on its leaf like hair often bloom when it’s in a good mood or when it’s won a race.
Primary Attacks: Bash – Using its size and strength, Grey Bark bashes its target with one of its branch like hands.
Head Smash – Much like it says, Grey Bark uses its head and smashes its target. Standing Square in front of its target and quickly dropping on one knee, bringing its large head down hard and fast.
Knee Break – Grey Bark grabs his target by the head, and slams them into its steel plated knees. Often cause the target to be dazed for a short time afterward.
Special Attacks: Floral Display – Although the flowers on Grey Bark’s head is usually to show happiness, certain types of flowers it has in the back of its Grey foliage. Come out from around the sides of its head, and starts to bloom beautifully. This hypnotizes the target, making them fixate on the flowers. While vines launch out and grab the foe, strangling them for a short time before tossing them away.
Solus Beam – From its big read eyes, Grey Bark emits a beam of solar energy. That heads in a straight line, towards whatever’s within its path. This can hit with the force of a speeding car, and cause serious sunburn if exposed for too long to its rays directly.
Uproot – Stomping on the ground briefly, Grey Bark claps and dashes forward. Grey Bark starts to run around its target, making it dizzy and often falling over afterward.
Skeldon (Nephite) – is a skeletal like creature, that vaguely resembles a dog of some sort. It looks like nothing but bones with a heart in its rib cage, apart from this Nephite is a reasonably calm monster. Well work around with Mari like Storm does, and although it doesn’t cuddle up to her or anything. Nephite holds Mari in high regard, because she helped it become a brilliant racer. Unaffected by fire/lava and is extremely fast on grassy landscapes.
Primary Attacks: Gash – Using its elongated claws, Nephite takes a gash out of its targets body. Either somewhere like its leg, or another place more vital.
Tail Spike – Using the pointy end of its tail, Nephite strikes at its target several times.
Down Slash – Jumping high into the air, Nephite comes down with both claws ready. And rends its targets as it falls past it, causing bleed damage from the large wounds.
Special Attacks: Glare – With it’s piercing red eyes, Nephite stares down its foe. Its eyes light up and paralyses anything or body, that Nephite is directly looking at for two turns.
Disassemble – A two styled move that works when Nephite is attacked. Or when Nephite itself chooses to disassemble, letting its skeleton fall to the floor in pieces. Is not only a good evasion move, but highly disconcerting and often off putting to many attackers.
Distorted Time – Going into a levitating disassembled state, Nephite floats in a ball of black energy. This rips at time, anything that clips the black bubble. Or any of the bubble Nephite drops while in motion, becomes disorientated and there movement slowed for one post.
Ultimate Attack: Triple Finisher – Depending on the team being used, Mari can invoke her monsters to make a combined attack. Due to the not entirely hostile nature of Monster Racers, their Ultimate attack is often related speed and fast moves.
With Storm, Augustine and Sapphire, the move sends in Storm first to either pin or distract the target/s.
While also charging up its electrical output and using its Cublast energy balls as a medium of surrounding the area with electrical energy, as the balls of electricity orbit a ten metre or so radius. Augustine starts running around the enclosed area, with her Fiery Temptress power going at full blast. This removes the oxygen from inside, cuing Storm in on leaving the area. And then Sapphire logs stink bombs through the array.
With Rarge, Grey Bark and Nephite, the attack is similar in performance with other monster or elements replacing others. Such as Grey Bark playing the speed runner and Rarge being the distraction and elemental damage, using its heat and cold powers to add to the storm. While Nephite tosses balls of distorted time into the area of effect.

Any Other Information: Despite being a champion, Mari is just a normal 12 year old girl. With nothing special about her, aside from what she’s learned from training with her monsters. Such as survival skills and running fast for long periods of time, but only to the standards that a normal human can go. She has no relatives to speak of, as her only family is her monsters and her friend Misaki. When out in the field, Mari only has three monsters with her at a time. Forcing the others to stay home, where they protect her place and laze about. Back on her world, she had a whole ranch to play with. With loads of monsters to race with and to breed, but since she’s been lost on Li. She’s had to relay on her six monsters that accompanied her.
