"Hn... I don't wanna go to Egypt, grandpa. There are vampires there~"

Moaning in his sleep, Shiya's body shifted ever so slightly in the bed where he was accommodated. It had been several days since the boy had been initially admitted, completely unconscious. During that entire time since getting completely owned by the Starvia, the unconscious youth had not woken up even once, even after being hooked up to numerous tubes and healing fluids to tend to his injuries.

Since the initial drop off of the teen's body to Lightweather Hospital, not a single person had even been to visit... which honestly worried the staff. It wasn't like they could just keep him there forever, but it would be cruel to simply evict him. It's not like the boy was trophified or anything, heck he regularly would mumble things as if he were simply sleeping... so what were they supposed to do with him?

Upon entry through the hospital's front doors, a person would spot a typical bustling as doctors and nurses rushed this way and that in order to see patients they were supposed to or find some reason to slack off. Manning the front desk was none other than one of the well loved Nurse Joys, adorned in a white uniform with her large pink hair rings capped underneath a white cap and blue cross. Upon approaching Nurse Joy, she would perk her attention off of the magazine the woman had been studying intensely, its contents unknown beyond the hastily hid title of "Train-boy magazine"~

"OH! Um, h-hello there. Can I help you with anything?"

Down from the soggy gray skies above the hospital, shone a brilliant light that poked a gap in the clouds.
Down from the heavens descended a winged figure. The angel of death? Perhaps the angel of life itself?
As this figure unsteadily landed, one could confirm it was in fact an angel...or a really ugly dove.
As the light from above that brought him fourth dimmed away, the angel limped forward.
He bore many a medical wrap on his person.
A cast on his arm, some gauze wrapped around several places on his wing,
and a little band-aid on his cheek with a kiss mark on it.


“Good morning Nurse Joy. Is Shiya here?”
The angel asked, an obvious crick in his neck from how he struggled to lift his head to greet her.

Not in the least disturbed by the injured angel boy descending from the heavens down to the hospital's doors, Nurse Joy greeted Pit with a smile. "Ah yes, you're here to see Shiya Kirigaya~?" Biting the end of a pen between her teeth as she flipped through several pages on a list, the rose haired medical professional returned her sight once more to the anxious Angel. "Such a dreadful case. I remember he was barely breathing when he was brought in."

"He's in room 204B. Take the first left down the hall and the door should be on your right." Replying almost too nonchalantly, Joy's gaze briefly darted down to the clock behind the counter before back to Pit.

"Visiting hours end at 10:00, so do try to hurry. Try not to keep your hopes up though, the poor boy's been completely unconscious ever since he checked in a few days ago. His injuries are mostly healed but we don't really know why he hasn't woken up yet..." Finishing her explanation off on a rather sullen note, the Nurse Joy brightened back her expression into a friendly smile before waving goodbye to Pit. "Take care."

“Yes! That’s-Oy! T-that’s his name.”
Put nodded yes, only to be immediately reminded of the crick in his next.
Upon hearing what the nurse said about Shiya’s condition, the look of concern bled across Pit’s face like an open wound.


“204 B! Got it! Thanks!”
Pit weakly shined a grateful smile at Nurse Joy. He hobbled off in the direction she pointed him in all the faster.
The Lightweather hospital was much bigger than any one Pit had ever been to before. The ones he was used to were little one-room facilities. He’d stumble in as an eggplant and a bibbidy-bobbidy-boo later, he was an angel again. It surely took more than a de-eggplantifying spell to fix the injuries everyone on Team First to Fall suffered. And by the sounds of it, none suffered worse than Shiya.

…Sure Schezo lost an eye, but…

Pit closed in on the door counting to B under his breath. Upon finding 204 B, he reached his fist out to knock on the door, but it lazily drifted open as if not being shut properly.
Deciding the door let him in, Pit slowly looked across the room to find his friend laying motionless in bed. Not trophified, but apparently alive and hooked up to more machinery than the Light vs Dark servers.


“Man… I can’t tell if this is Shiya’s room or Mother Brain’s.”
Pit reeled as he slowly made his way up to Shiya’s bedside.


“Shiya? Are you in there? It’s me, Pit.”
Pit softly called out to the unconscious patient.
“Remember? From Team First to Fall?...”


“I uh… I brought a gift basket for you.”
He presented, lifting said gift basket up from under his arm.
“It’s got all your favourite stuff in it:”
Pit said as he ruffled through the basket for some examples.
“Nacho chips, Game Fuel soda, an airhorn, and even this neat cap!”

Stirring in his intense slumber at the sudden introduction of what may relatively be his only friend, Shiya's mouth gaped before low mumbled words began leaking from his unconscious body.

"Hnn... Thaz a cool song Pit..."

With the absence of his conscious effort to mask its natural form from view, the area where Shiya's right eye normally would be instead presented a hollowed out and scarred void from where it lacked the organ. As the teen mumbled in his slumber, at each word the most faint hint of EnerGy sparking past the blackened gaouge may be observed, yet he remained otherwise mostly the same.

"Hnn... soaring through... skies~ Enemies... dish... hnn... stir fry~"

Whatever he must have been dreaming about, it must have been nice by the way that the red robed boy hummed some sort of tune under every other word and raspy breathe.

Pit looked up from Shiya’s gift basket to quickly notice the patient showing signs of life.
It wasn’t until Shiya began to mumble stanzas from said song, since Pit recognize it.

“Hey...”
He smiled in recognition of the victory song he wrote himself.
Pit wasn’t happier to hear his song than he was to hear that Shiya could sense he was there and could still communicate, albeit scarce and randomly.


♪“Gracious goddess of light watches from up above”♪
Pit began singing softly like a lullaby, picking up where Shiya left off.
♪“At dinnertime I always show the cook some love!”♪


“…I wonder what kind of hospital food they serve you here anyway.”
Well Shiya was far from okay, but at least the reapers weren’t coming for him any time soon.
He was unconscious but could still sense someone at his bed side.
If only there were a way to pull Shiya further out of his coma-like state.

Though that little ditty seemed to bring a smile on Shiya's sleeping form, beyond that the boy continued to remain unresponsive and soon fell back into silence. Soon afterwards though, as if detecting the presence of another being in the room, one of the monitors displaying data on Shiya fizzed out before displaying a green wavelength line for a few moments and then an erratically glitching keypad of sorts. A red light blinked overhead and for a moment it looked almost as if the strange monitor's top attachments swiveled to stare at the angel boy like some sort of eyes. Before long, a crackling electronic voice emitted from the monitor as well seemingly addressing Pit.

"~Hello guest. It seems you are having difficulty in awakening a patient. Allow me to be your personal guide to get you started~"

"I'm a model 6 of the Handyman's Robotics and Human Repair System personally customized for patient destr BZZZT care, but you can call me HandyUnit."
"Please enter your name as seen above the keypad and I shall guide you to the best of my pre-programmed ability through this task."

“Thank you thank you! You've been a wonderful audience! Goodnight!”
This was fun. Even if Shiya wasn’t going to wake up today, Pit was still feeling glad he came.
And if that wasn’t going to wake Shiya up, it didn’t seem like he was going to.
Unless Pit tried the airhorn or something…
But suddenly, breaking the resting silence as if to jump scare Pit, a monitor reactivated and…pointed in his direction?
Was it… was it talking to him? Was this where Pit placed his drive thru order?
No I guess not. Guess that burger’s gonna have to wait.


“They have machines that can wake up Shiya now?”
Pit scratched his head in bewilderment.
“Man… First the Vitality Sensor now this. What will Dr.Mario think of next…”


“Enter my name? Okay...That sounds…easy enough.”
Pit smiled to hide a nervous face.

“…Okay don’t panic Pit, It’s just like naming a save file.”
Pit coached himself.
“You can do this. Shiya's counting on you!
...Why couldn't I just count my name instead of spell it?”


“Now let's see.. Pit… Pit… Pih-Ih-Teh.
...How many H’s are there in Pit?”

"*BZZT* It seems that you had some trouble with the keypad."
"I see what you were trying to type and I will auto correct it for you. One moment."
"Welcome, EGGPLANT  GODDESS."

A bright button flipped open from its case, as if on cue after Pit's "name" had been entered into the console. "It seems that SHIYA KIRIGAYA doesn't feel like waking up." Upon closer inspection it would reveal that this large, red, and quite obvious button was connected to several wires that seemed to connect directly to the patient's beg strangely enough...

"Let's give him some motivation." 

"Press the red button now to administer a controlled shock. Maybe that will energize him enough to get up and healthy."

“Eggplant what?”
Pit groaned in confusion.

“I Knew Pit had another Y in it!”

“Would make a good troll screen name though…”
Pit imagined what an eggplant goddess would look like. Perhaps an Eggplant Wizard with makeup.
He shuddered.

“…Focus Pit!”
It was at that moment Pit noticed the big red button served to him.

“Ooh!~ Red!~”


“Man if medicine is this easy no wonder even Mario can do it!”


“Clear!”
Pit announced like a cardiologist.
Pit promptly pushed the big red button…but…it wouldn’t go down.

“Huh?”
Pit tried to push it again, and again, he even pounded it. It wouldn’t go down.

“Huh. Medicine Is harder than I thought!
Stupid thing must be jammed!”
