    The ruins of Hyrule Castle Town would normally be quite a sight if not for the melancholic atmosphere and desolated appearance. Every piece of stone had been withered down to near structural instability and all symbolic paintings and insignia referencing the royal family of Hyrule had all but faded away. If one were to explore further into the castle town, they would find partially burned buildings, empty stalls, and foreboding silences as nothing could be heard among the abandoned streets and pathways besides the occasional moan and growl of an infected. However on this day, something different could be heard if one strained their ears to hear past the light drizzle of rain. The steady pit-pat of leather boots impacting the withered stone as a solitary figure slowly made his way through the abandoned streets, a look of utter desolation and complete shock on his face.

"..." The muted boy, garbed in green uttered no words as he continued to marvel at the utter destruction of a once violent kingdom.

    As the coming warriors would notice upon entering the castle town and approaching Link, the noise of disturbed infected were steadily but surely growing louder. Should they waste their time and not clear this area soon, a hoard may be upon them...

{MISSION START}

Midna floated toward the crater, remembering once again the devastation she felt when she first stumbled upon it. But now wasn't the time to dwell on that. She had someone to find.

Looking in the distance, she saw a figure wandering around in the wreckage, clearly not knowing where to go. As Midna got closer to him, however, she recognized the clothing and the familiar green hat

"Wait,  is that....LINK?! Is that you?!" Midna shouted, hardly able to believe what was right in front of her. She raced forward eager to unite with her long lost friend once again.

[Mari]

Not far off down the street, a figure cloaked entirely in an ornate black fabric stepped into view, unrecognizable save for the design of the cloak itself. This design might just be familiar to Midna and Link if they took notice of her presence. Soft features made themselves apparent around the figure's face, which was mostly obscured by a veil scarf. A moment would pass as the figure took notice of Link and Midna before Zelda slipped one of her hands-free and lowered the hood to more fully expose her identity.

...It really wasn't the weather for such heavy clothing, was it?

Regardless, now that she had made sure she wasn't a spooky stranger she steadily made her way over to the duo at a leisurely pace. For once, she was as mute as Link. It didn't seem like she wished to speak, for one reason or another.

    Link seemed to not have noticed either Zelda or Midna's approach, as he continued slowly walking in no apparent direction through the demolished streets and hazed air. If Midna were to attempt at touching Link in any way she would find that she passed completely through the Hylians' form, as if he were merely a mirage. No matter what she would do, the result would be just the same as her passing through the despondent hero. Feeling a cold sensation run through him though, Link stopped moving entirely as he visibly looked around to see the cause of the feeling; his eyes completely passing over the two still though.

    Suddenly a bright light appeared over the intangible Hero that seemed to rise out of him, the triforce symbol on his hand and also Zelda's hand would glow in response. The light continued to grow brighter as it rose above the trio until suddenly out from it formed a familiar creature from the old forests of Ordon.

    "Fallen heroes of Hyrule, heed my words for my time is short." The spirit of light that once resided in Ordon's forests explained in haste as it slowly flickered in and out of visibility. "Thy ally, whom has sacrificed much to the kingdom, is almost lost to the realm of twlight which has encased his being. The stone of evil he had always kept upon his person has slowly been infecting his body with residue of the realm between day and night, although always held back from fully encasing his being due to the chosen hero's strength of will." Turning his head forlornly at Midna for a moment, it's form disappearing once more before it flickered back into view albeit duller and transparent. "Just as the land was once encased in twilight, so was the body of the hero stripped of his light when his will to fight had left him."

    The forest spirit's voice waned once more as the light between its antlers shrunk considerably. Finally reappearing though with a pained expression on its face, the spirit tried to continue its explanation to the two and finish its duty. "My power wanes. The forests of Hyrule are no more, and only through its people have I lived on. Even those quickly lessen in number and I fear my light and Link's may go out forever... So I implore you, fallen princesses of light and twilight; collect the tears of light scattered among these ruined lands if you wish to save the one who's resolve has never wavered until now, as well as this forgotten land..." With that, the weakened spirit's light shrunk and vanished back into the tiny ball of which it came from before floating down not to Link, but to Zelda and Midna.

    The light morphed and changed in shape until it's form became that of a vessel which would look quite familiar to Midna.

You've got the Vessel of Light. With this, you can reclaim Link's lost light and save him from his Twilight Infection!

    "Make haste, vessels of light and twilight; for time is of the essence. Retrieve the 4 Tears of Light and return to this area before the time of Twilight, or else's the light of the hero will be lost and twilight shall engulf this land for all of eternity..."

    Time is quite limited as it seems the current time is midday. The group has two options currently in which to go from their current position in the destroyed castle town. In one direction lies a decrepit path into Hryule's broken alleyways, though a light can be seen slowly retreating into there. In the other direction, several creatures' loud noises can be heard slowly riling up down the more open but still dangerous streets of the castle market; in all likelihood, they have a Tear of Light within their possession.

Midna raced forward and put her hand on Link's shoulder, trying to get his attention. To her surprise, though, her hand past straight through Link's shoulder, as if he wasn't actually there. Link looked around, as if he had actually felt Midna touching him, but it seemed that, despite looking straight at her, he didn't see her.

Midna's face fell as she realized that her friend was not actually here. She heard a soft rustling of cloth behind her, and when she turned around, there in front of her stood Princess Zelda, quiet and unmoving as  she watched the scene before her. "Princess...Zelda?" Midna whispered, as if trying not to break the atmosphere of this scene. Rising, she looked Zelda in the eye and said "It's been a long time, Your Highness"

Suddenly, a bright light shone from Link's image, and someone who Midna thought she'd never see again appeared, flickering in the air above her. It was the Light Spirit Ordona.

Listening to Ordona's words, Midna felt saddened by Link's situation, but was determined to save him. Grabbing the Vessel of Light out of the air, Midna turned to Zelda and said "We have to help Link, and fast!. Where do you think we should start looking for the Tears?"

[Mari]

Zelda was a tad ... surprised to say the least. However, she remained entirely silent as Ordana spoke. She was at least paying attention, judging by her respectively attentive gaze. It wasn't until Ordana was gone and Midna spoke to her directly that Zelda spoke, and even then it seemed ... reluctant. Her lips trembled with indecision for a moment as she opened them to respond, but the moment passed and she finally addressed Midna.

"It's been a long time, Princess Midna..." Zelda replied ever so softly. She seemed a bit distant, her spirit burdened by the immense weight of standing in the crater that was once her kingdom. One could see how much it hurt her to be here if they met her eyes, something she'd been avoiding doing up until this moment. She'd been silent because she had never stopped mourning, but this predicament had forced her to end her silence earlier than anticipated. She glanced about her surroundings for a moment, observing that she couldn't see a single thing of value to their search. "Right... But I won't be able to help in my current form. I cannot see them." Zelda explained.

She then gently shifted one of her arms from underneath her cloak, cloaked in her evening gloves, in offering to Midna. "...I may not be your loyal pup, but it is time I took his place. We need each other... and Link needs us." Zelda explained, seeming to request that Midna use her twilight magic to turn Zelda into her own animal form. For reference, Zelda's animal form is a big hen, a rather large cucco if you will.

(OOC: Fluff Post; as decisions and such remain the same. Continue on with dialogue and picking of the previously stated choices in the next posts please)

    The wind howled as the world around Link slowly began growing more dark and painted in shades of yellow and black. Like a bomb going off, a shock-wave rippled through the air with him unknowingly at the center as the world around Zelda and Midna began slowly becoming encased within the twilight. The wind became silent, the world became darker, and the air grew even colder. Zelda and Midna must make haste if they are to prevent the land of Hyrule and possibly even all of Li from being transformed into a land of eternal twilight! As the twilight also encased Zelda, the Triforce symbol upon her hand glowed in response to protect the Hylian from its dangerous effects. In response, Zelda's form began contorting and transforming into a shape unlike that of a regular Hylian could achieve. Finally after an extremely painful, but necessary morphing of Zelda's body in adaption to the environment; Zelda was now replaced with a Hen/Cucco of large frame and size that bore markings resembling that of the Triforce and complex symbols of unexplained origin.

Midna watched as the air around Link grew dark, and the immediate area was covered in the beautiful twilight that had plagued Hyrule once before. As the wave of semi-darkness washed over the two of them, Midna felt strengthened, glad that she had arrived in her element. But now wasn't the time to revel in the twilight. The had to save Link. She looked over at Zelda, and,despite the seriousness of the situation, let out a giggle.

"Ehehehe! I'm sorry Princess Zelda, but you do look rather silly." Midna said.  Still laughing, she hopped up and sat on Zelda's back and directed her toward the alleyways of the destroyed city.

"I think I saw a light go down there as the twilight fell. Let's see if we can catch up to it." Midna said.

[Mari]

Zelda collapsed as she was subjected to the agony of having her body physically rearrange itself on a dime. Truly, she hadn't been expecting quite this much ... trauma to occur when she'd volunteered for the role. A woman's scream of alarm was carried out across the wind before being abruptly silenced. ...Zelda soon got herself back up and shook herself off, ruffling her newfound feathers. She clucked at Midna rather sorely at the other's comment but seemed to be ready and willing to carry her.

( . . . It's not a very flattering look, is it.) Zelda mused aloud in ... uh, cluckinese. She began moving off towards the alleyways in search of the tears of light.

    As Midna and 'Cuccolda' made their way down the alleyway that mysterious light had been seen, nothing seemed out of the ordinary so far... except for of course the destructive twilight slowly spreading around the land of course. As the group made their way further and further down the street though, they came upon an empty lot with partially broken pavement and a collapsed wall where it must have signified the borders of a building.

    If the group were to go inside of this, they would find a strange light seeming to emanate from a chandelier hanging off of the partially destroyed roof above them. It's too high to reach and there doesn't look to be any way to reach it from their current positions; even with Midna's ability to float there were simply too make stray boards and broken debris in the way to get to it cleanly. It seems that its time for some good ol' fashioned Hyrule puzzle solving!

(Roll Wisdom to see if you can notice anything else about the room that may aid you in retrieving the light glowing in the chandelier. The higher you roll, the more you can figure out and use the environment to your advantage. Optionally, you may attempt to simply attack it with some form of a projectile; but risk enraging, damaging, or scaring away whatever it is.)

Midna looked around at the wreckage that used to be Castle Town. What a terrible place this had become, and now with the twilight coming back to claim it once more...no, they couldn't let that happen, not with Link's life on the line.

Her and Zelda chased after the light, following it into an old building. It seemed to have nested itself in the rafters. There was too much debris in the way for Midna to grab it though...

"Hmm...I don't see a way we could get up there. Maybe if we got to some higher ground, you could fly over to it. What do you think Zelda?" Midna asked.

The cucco princess's gaze fidgetted about the room rather erratically as she observed her surroundings. Hearing Midna's advise, she turned her head and emitted a meaningful cluck in response. Huh. Seemed like she agreed. But now--Where was she going? Zelda rushed back out of the building and looked about, clucking idly as she once again looked about. After a moment of speculation she bounced on over to a building across the street and began scaling it with Midna. Unlike the building they'd been in, this building had plenty of access to higher ground and she was able to quickly reach the top, hopping up onto the roof's edge and perching there.

It was then that Midna would likely be aware of what Zelda was thinking.

There was a hole in their target building's roof, through which a faint glimmer of light could be seen. A moment would pass as Zelda waited to make sure Midna saw what she did before she took a step back and jumped! Thankfully, her new cucco form was well suited for the task of gliding over and the duo were gently falling towards the chandelier.1d20+5

Upon leaping from the roof and back into the suspicious, broken building's hole; the roof of the adjacent structure Zelda had left would collapse in a rather large CRASH. The wreckage would pile in a smokey plume before finally settling in a crisscrossed blockage over the bottom floors entrance and sealing it shut.

As the two of them began gently floating down to the top of the chandelier, they would notice what seemed to be electrical sparks crackling under one of its fabric folds. Closer inspection as the two came close enough to peer in would reveal-

"SCREEEEEEEEE!!!!"

Leaping out from its place of rest, the Shadow Insect had become disturbed by the sudden noises caused by the two twilight beasts. Screeching loudly with bug-like talons raised, the twilight-corrupted beast aimed to scratch Zelda right out of the air!

(CUCC-Uh, I mean *ahem* ZELDA! The Shadow Insect is attempting to clip your wings in a surprise attack! Since you were very perceptive though, it should be relatively easy to escape this monster's wrath~ WIS Roll a 10 or higher to dodge, else you'll receive 10% damage and be subsquently knocked out of the air.)

The furious insect's eyes suddenly glowed blackish purple as a fiendish aura surrounded it. Flapping its wings at a rate nearly invisible to the human eye, the Shadow Insect turned its attention right to Midna almost immediately after Zelda. Electric energy charged in its wings before without warning arcing out in black-yellow streaks at the mini Twili.

(MIDNA! YOU GUNNA GET ZAPPED since you were pretty unaware of the situation. Roll a 18 + WIS to escape or else receive 16% damage and be inflicted with Paralysis!)

"Whoa!" Midna exclaimed, as Zelda took off to the other building. Midna could only just hang on while Zelda scaled the other building "Zelda, what are you....oh, I see" Midna said. Zelda's plan was becoming clear to her when she saw the clear path of flight to the chandelier in the other building.

As Zelda took off, the beam she had been standing collapsed and blocked off the entrance.

"Well, guess we're not going back that way..." Midna thought

When they landed on the chandelier, and electrical zapping sound was heard, and a Twilight Bug crawled out of the fabric draped over the chandelier. Midna wasn't surprised. The tears of light normally took this form in twilight. What Midna didn't expect was a bolt of lightning to come shooting straight after her. That wasn't normal!

The bolt caught Midna off guard, and she was hit off of Zelda's back. When she got up , she felt a strange sensation. she felt...slower? That's the closest she could guess.

As strange as her new form was, Zelda was still the bearer of the triforce of wisdom. Her body might not be intact, but her mind very much was. She saw that attack coming from a mile away, and her only regret was that she couldn't protect Midna. There was no greater insult than a steed failing to protect its rider. Zelda clucked out what was probably the wittiest one-liner in all of Hyrule, as far as anyone knew anyway, before rushing the shadow bug in retribution. Joining Midna in her bid for revenge, she began to peck at the shadow bug! Meet your natural predator, you tiny bug scum.
