A stadium for civilized combat... How proper. One would think that Giovanni would prefer to keep himself to the shadows, being the mastermind of a criminal organization. He was, however, once a gym leader, and stadiums for battles to take place in in an official capacity feel like home. So, he marches out, kept to only two Pokemon in the name of 'fairness'. Which, sure.  He was used to being the final Gym Leader, but he imagines this was a limitation that most Gym Leaders dealt with for new Trainers. Nothing new, and if they could deal with it on a day-by-day basis, so could he.

"I hope that you'll indulge an old man and give me a good fight." Hovering over his shoulder is Beedrill - his Pokemon of choice being Beedrill and Rhyperior. Between the two of them, he felt pretty confident in his ability to keep up with any opponent.

Honestly, Sol normally wasn't the kind of guy to go for a formalized fight. They're just a big pain in the ass for not a lot of reward more often than not, and 9 times out of 10 there were so many damn rules and regulations there was no point. It wasn't a real fight. What got Sol's attention... Was HOW this person was fighting. For the most part he could cut lose, but this guy was one of those Pokemon trainers he'd heard about. Someone who fought relying on the trust of another creature... It was too interesting to pass up on. Besides, he needed to learn his new limits anyway, he'd never had a chance to really test them.

So, in he stomped, his steps heavy as he 'smoked' on a piece of ammunition for Junkyard dog... And the moment he was truly inside the arena, he smirked, and violently CHOMPED down on the damn thing, putting out the fire and causing it to start flipping through the air. On it's way down, Sol slung Junkyard Dog at it, the beast of a weapon opening up and loading the bullet in the blink of an eye, before raised his hand and glared at Giovanni.

"I won't go easy on you old man. I hope you have good health insurance for the animals you're about to toss at me."

... Realistically Sol had no room to talk, given that had lived for a solid century, but that's besiiiiiides the point.

Giovanni drops a Pokeball, and out comes the largest bee that you've seen in your entire life. Dude says 'bzz bzz' and it sounds like a fucking jet taking off, and that stinger on the end just looks nasty. Doesn't look like the most sturdy creature in the world, though. Perhaps he's first subjecting Sol to a test of speed?



"Beedrill. Toxic Spikes."

[ Toxic Spikes - When an enemy rolls to dodge using DEX, regardless of success, they must also roll a 1d4 - and if they roll a 1, they are inflicted with Poison. If they are already inflicted with Poison, their Poison status is replaced with Toxic, which is twice as effective. Toxic Spikes last for two turns. ]

And on that note, the bee's stingers just begin to... eject. They coat themselves in poison and all begin to float around Sol - not inherently dangerous, but accidentally pricking yourself on them would be something of a nuisance for people who don't like poison in their system.

"Agility."

[ Agility - Increases DEX mod by 4 for three turns. Afterwards, there is a three turn cooldown. ]

...And Beedrill proceeds to just start moving really, really fast. Its wings start beating faster, clearly some kind of exercise to get ready for more movement. Of course, that would quickly be followed by:

Beedrill creates new stingers and coats them in poison, rushing Sol and attempting to jab them into him!

Sol was talking some serious shit... Now it was time to prove he could bring the heat. Sol did have that first thought of a test of speed fly through his head, but when he saw the spikes... The play clicked.

"Trying to lock me down with toxins. Clever bastard."

As annoying as it was to admit, he knew a good play when he saw one, and this definitely was up there. He'd make Chipp proud if the ninja were here. But there was one small problem. If he dodged he knew he was probably going to hit those things. It was just a hunch he had. So, as he saw the Beedrill shoot forward, he narrowed his eyes and raised Junkyard Dog in front of him, a bright green burst of energy surrounding him as the hit connected. An interesting method of shielding to say the least... And the moment the Beedrill's attack was over, the man smirked.

"My turn."

Suddenly he just went in and tried to fucking sucker punch the Beedrill, before slamming his other fist into its stomach, and finishing it off with a downward slash from Junkyard Dog.

Then, he suddenly whipped around, trying to DRIVE his knee into the Beeldrill as he leaped into the air, a snarl on his face as he flew.

However, there was something odd about it. It was slow, sloppy, it almost looked downright half assed. Sol wasn't putting in his full effort right now. And yet despite that, there was a strange ferocity to his attacks, which was only too pronounced by his final attack, as he span on his heel and coated his blade in flame, trying to SLAM it into the Beedrill.

As Beedrill darted through his attacks, Sol backed off with a click of his tongue. This was getting him absolutely nowhere, fast. Internally he was mentally strategizing, but that was when Beedrill came at him... He clicked his tongue, trying to dart to the side-

And let out a sharp gasp as his chest was impaled twice over, barely managing to not stumble into the spikes that had surrounded him, coughing up a small amount of blood. But as Beedrill withdrew... The wound was already healing, as he wiped blood from his chin.

"Tch. Note to self. Healing factor has been lessoned... And my stamina can't hold out nearly as long anymore. Congratulations, thanks to this dimension nerfing me, ya managed to hurt me good."

He didn't have long to rest on his laurels either... He made another jump to the side as Beedrill came in, hand on his hip as his eyes narrowed... He had to make this work-

Before giving another cough as he stabbed once more in the arm... The holes were quickly plugged, but the damage was done, as he narrowed his eyes. A small glare shot Beedrill's way as he growled, stomping the ground hard enough to make the impact clear to hear even from the stadium seats. And what didn't help... Was the toxic spike now digging into his back. Beedrill finally pushed him into a corner.

"Okay. Now I'm mad. This time I'm swatting that bug."

And with that statement he suddenly leaped at the Pokemon, intent on driving his knee into the Beedrill all over again... But this time it was different. He was faster than before... More vicious as he snarled. "BANDIT!"

With that one attack one thing was clear... This asshole was holding back. He walked into the arena and got stabbed because he wasn't trying that hard. Which raised the question, was he still holding back? The way he threw that knee, before spinning into the kick, made it clear he wasn't taking this fight seriously. Why? Regardless, he still was on the offensive, swinging wildly at Giovanni's Pokemon, starting with a swift kick to meet the bee in the air, which promptly switched into a slash from his sword, followed by a swift haymaker that surely would've broken a normal man's jaw.

And of course, Giovanni was quite proud of his Beedrill's ability to be a nuisance, but this kind of performance was something that he would expect from Beedrill.

"Ha. Don't be such a sore loser." Some fairly innocuous taunting as Sol begins the Johns process by complaining about how his healing factor was reduced, before Sol begins to strike back.

Finally - and perhaps Beedrill was just too caught up in how well it was doing to properly evade, but Sol does successfully smack the bug, which earns a look of displeasure from Giovanni.

As Sol keeps swinging, he lands one hit, one miss, and when the next one comes, a bubble pops up around Beedrill - finally caught him on the defensive. As for the last attack, though:

...No dice. Beedrill flits out of the way, giving an annoying 'bzzt' as it did - almost like it was taunting Sol. By now, the Toxic Spikes in the area have begun to dissipate, so it'd be a real shame if someone were to just-

Sol's best friends return to cover the field. He wasn't quite done being rude yet, though:

And last, but not least - the timing was about right for Beedrill's Agility to lose efficacy, according to what he'd practiced. It was a little odd to think that ol' reliable had stopped being so effective here, but there was no point in getting all melancholic about it now.

Beedrill is encompassed in a ball of light, shooting towards Giovanni to bump into him, before, at high speeds, shoots backwards Giovanni's waiting Pokeball. As a practiced motion, he returns the Pokeball to his ball, and grabs another, this time pulling out:

"Rhyperior."

In comparison to Beedrill, which was on its own a pretty big bee, Rhyperior was a fucking titan.

Rhyperior was not here to be a nuisance, it was here to tear shit up.
