Nino
Fire Emblem
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Motto: "Do my best!"
Allies/Friends: Hector, Erk, Lyn, Eliwood, and company from Fire Emblem 7
Enemies/Rivals: Sonia, Nergal, The Black Fang
Backstory: fireemblem.fandom.com/wiki/Nino (I will be going off the player choices where Nino fights the black fang personally, as opposed to being off doing her own thing while other characters handle it)
Appearance:
History On Li: Nino woke up on Li in Kongo Jungle alone, promptly going on a slightly impressive destruction spree as a comical assortment of monsters tried to eat her, barely managing to escape intact. However, by the time she found her way to the life sphere exposure to the starvia had targeted her vocal cords and rendered her mostly mute, making it extremely hard for her to talk let alone cast spells.
While she waits to heal, she took up a job as a courier. Though she isn't a very good one, considering she can't read the address on the stuff she's transporting. Regardless, she's out there doing her best, biding her time, making it work, and trying to get by in a hostile new world without any of her friends and family around to help her out.
Primary Attacks (3)
Elfire: Nino summons a ball of compressed fire energy and tosses it. When it impacts a surface, usually the ground, it erupts vertically in a column of fire. Her elfire tome has 5 uses, after which it enters a turn of cooldown. It then costs 2 actions to retrieve a new tome. It has a 40% chance of burning an enemy on a hit. [DMG 22%]
Fimbulvetr: A twister of arctic cold wind is conjured to draw all the heat and breath out of someone while giving them a brief opportunity to flee. Once the area around them is flash frozen, a burst of ice is conjured in the chilled space around anyone remaining in it. It suffers a -1 penalty to its accuracy and has a 40% chance of freezing. Fimbulvetr has 3 uses, after which it enters a turn of cooldown. It then costs 2 actions to retrieve a new tome. [DMG 27%]
Bolting: A bolt of lightning is called down to smite someone. Because the lightning is so fast it has to be dodged pre-emptively instead of reactively. The attack has a +2 to its accuracy and a 20% chance of paralyzing. Bolting has 2 uses, after which it enters a turn of cooldown. It then costs 2 actions to retrieve a new tome. [DMG 30%]
Special Attacks (3)
Improvised Spell: Nino can attempt to cast spells without tomes! It's not safe, but in a pinch it just might be worth it! Any attack can be imitated as an improvised spell, however the misfire chance raises depending on several factors. A misfired spell is treated like a critical failure with an added consequence, so for an example a misfire chance of 20% would raise the critfail threshold to 4 or below. The first time Nino casts any given Improvised Spell, it takes an extra action to cast.
Misfire Chances Table
- 20% (One of Nino's own attacks)
- 30% (A magic or energy attack Nino has heard the incantation for)
- 40% (A magic or energy attack Nino has to reverse engineer by observing its effects)
- 50% (Non-magical/energy attacks that don't emulate modern or futuristic technology)
- 60% (Religious Magic)
- 70% (Nino has to emulate modern or futuristic technology)
- 80% (A magic or energy attack that Nino has never seen before, but has had described to her)
- Additional Modifier: -10% if Nino is not under pressure from combat and can take her time. +10% for each mental status Nino is suffering.
Missfire Consequences Table (Roll 1d6)
- Unstable misfire, forcing Nino to spend an action suppressing it to prevent it from exploding it or something.
- Chaos misfire, afflicts Nino with disabled on a random stat with appropriate flavor text.
- Lethal misfire, afflicts a variation of mortal wound with a 2d20 cure threshold that represents some sort of internal dysfunction not immediately visible to the naked eye. If the cure threshold is 21 or above, she is also afflicted by disabled on dexterity.
- Explosive misfire, the spell explodes in a spectacular fashion, injuring Nino for 20 damage
- Felling misfire, a pressure wave is channeled through Nino's body, causing blunt trauma and knocking her out. She is afflicted with sickness, mind-melted, and sleep.
- Backfire, the spell Nino had been trying to improvise has the opposite of its intended effect, either reversing a buff's or debuff's effects or causing an attack to hit Nino instead--whichever is more appropriate. The secondary effect chances of any such spell increases to 100% if they exist.
Giga Excalibur: Concentrated wind energy is summoned around a foe and slashes at them from every direction in quick succession. This attack is very dangerous, as it is not only difficult to dodge, but lingers for long enough to allow someone to cast a second spell before it finishes, making that spell harder to dodge too, represented by a +2 to both its accuracy and each follow-up attack. This tome has 3 uses. After it is used up, it enters a 1 turn cooldown and it takes 2 actions to find another tome. [DMG 8% (Comboable)]
Exalted Words: Through rigorous experimentation testing Jaffar's patience, Nino has refined words of divine power so potent that evil beings cannot bear their sound. Their pronunciation is excruciatingly precise and exacting. It is effectively impossible to mimic her correctly without going through the same refinement process she did to perfect them as a result. And an evil being who so much as tries will find that the words feel like cacti on their tongues. To most of non-evil alignment however they sound exceptionally beautiful, and they are immune to its painful effects. At the cost of 1d4 recoil damage, she can shout the words to increase the damage they do by 6%. [DMG 8% (Comboable) to 18% and then 24% when shouted]
Final Smash (1)
Critical Strike: Nino performs an enhanced, critical variant of one of her normal attacks that makes it more devistating! Usually this means a bigger, more impressive variation on it. or a visual multi-hit. Something like that unique to the attack it modifies. The attack itself works as normal except that it's damage is boosted to a minimum of 30 if it was less than that and it automatically threatens a critical hit. Nino still has to crit confirm it, but if she fails it just does it's normal damage/secondary effects.
