Backstory: link This is an AU Krystal non-strictly based upon the Kursed bad ending from Star Fox COmmand. In this AU, Krystal thought better of herself than to sit on the sidelines and not fight just because Fox said so. She was a strong independent woman, after all, and she was doing a good thing by fighting for the galaxy, right? Problem. Fox wanted her back, but she wasn't ready to accept he had changed and refused. And she was frankly sick of their relationship dynamic. She had never wanted to be his damsel in distress, and she resented that he had pushed her into that role.
What she didn't realize was the way the entire galaxy would turn on her just for saying no to the 'esteemed' Fox Mcloud. As it turned out, the Starfox team had a bit of a cult following, and she could no longer show her face anywhere without getting looks and comments she didn't appreciate. They didn't just mock or insult her. She was unpersoned. And as Krystal quickly found out, you could only be so unpopular before general lawlessness followed. And she could only deal with so much harassment and cruel comments before she began seeking ways to escape. She changed her look. She fled to quieter parts of the galaxy. Somehow, her lamentations of being cursed became her new identity. People addressed her as such, and she reluctantly accepted the new name with just an awkward K interjected at the start to remind her of who she was.
She became a bounty hunter to survive, and her newfound distrust for others lent itself to a quiet personality that gave her a very intimidating reputation she often felt was unwarranted. People acted like she was some sort of psycho just because she would ignore unwanted conversations and advances and wouldn't smile for anyone anymore. But could they blame her?? She didn't trust them. She couldn't trust them. And she was frankly sick and tired of glimpsing into the minds of those who gave her their attention just to get blasted by lewd thoughts. Perhaps it was for the best that they believed she was some kind of hardass psycho though. If a reputation brought her employers looking for a toughass girl to do a toughass job that paid well, it wasn't all bad was it? She could really use work...
Krystal quickly realized, however, that she didn't really like her job. She liked helping people. She liked the intimacy of being able to make and hold friendships. The only people mercenaries got hired to take care of were people who needed jailing or shooting. She was so lonely... And she was beginning to feel a deathly numbness where there should've been a drive to live and fight for a better tomorrow. She hated that feeling, and more and more she found herself desperately wishing she could've gone back and took the offer to rejoin Star Fox , no matter how much she resented it at the time.
But even on a chance encounter with Fox, she now found herself unable to speak to him. The drive just wasn't there. And if it had been, she probably would've just gotten upset and yelled. And what was the point of that? ...It was then that Krystal cam to terms with the idea that this was her life now. There was no escape.
...And she couldn't take it anymore. Using what little supplies and travel fuel she'd managed to acrue, Krystal plotted a course for a wormhole anomaly and decided to try her luck finding out what was on the other side. She knew she wouldn't have enough fuel for a return trip, but maybe if she were lucky she'd find something cool... If not, well--She supposed she was fine with whatever happened.
Appearance:
History On Li: Krystal crash-landed on Li after several days of floating through space without fuel, the life support systems still working at least. She initially got into a fight with her would be rescuers because she refused to speak to them and was mistaken for being hostile, which then became a self-fulfilling prophecy when she tried to gun down her rescuing for attempting to subdue her. Thankfully several days of poor sleep and poor nutrition had done a number on her and her aim was less than steady, making her a weaker foe than usual. She was subdued and brought to the Life Sphere Police HQ where investigators were able to determine she wasn't a serious threat and was just really anti-social, and let her go after a series of warnings about not doing any number of stupid things to make sure she didn't wind up back there.
Krystal wound up retreating to the black market where she could have relative privacy and be forgotten about for the most part, and where her attitude could garner her some minor respect once in a blue moon. From there she was content to hide away from the world, subsisting off free food and half-heartedly training to keep her form fit. Paralyzed by indecision, she spent years just kind of existing without purpose, only to eventually summon whatever remained of her drive and begin pursuing bounty hunting work again.
Primary Attacks (3)
Quick Draw/Fire Bolt: Krystal draws a blaster and fires several times in quick succession, gunning her target down before they even have a chance to reach for their own. Alternatively, she can launch small fire bolts from her staff to the same effect. Has a +2 to its accuracy but a 2 turn cooldown (Light Comboable Dex/Wis Attack; Does 8 Damage)
Fire Blast: A charged firebolt is launched from Krystal's staff that explosively expands on contact with any surface, scorching its target! Has a 100% chance to burn. 1 turn cooldown (Medium Wis Attack; Does 12 Damage)
Staff Combat: A good thwack upside the head will send anyone reeling and tilt the course of battle. The trouble is hitting your mark, represented by a 10% chance of afflicting the mind-melted status. That and sore hands and arms from recoil over time, represented by the user taking 1 recoil damage. 1 turn cooldown. (Heavy Str Attack; Does 22 Damage)
Special Attacks (3)
Illusory Disguise: A magical disguise is conjured to shroud Krystal's true identity. It grants her a +2 bonus to any roll that involves convincing someone she is a specific person, and a +4 bonus to any roll that to convince someone she is a non-specific creature. The illusion is semi-corporeal, allowing others to touch it and feel it as if it were real. However, it does not grant any powers or abilities associated with the form. If a disguise is enough to prevent her from being attacked and lower an enemy's guard at the discretion of logic, she can make a sneak attack whose accuracy roll is considered to have been her disguise roll, the defense roll of which was the roll to see through it, hitting her target for 1.5x normal damage. However, disguising and making this sneak attack are separate actions.
Frost Vortex: A thick vortex of ice and snow is projected from the head of Krystal's staff, blasting anyone too close to her. If this attack hits, the target must also make a CON roll against the attack's accuracy to avoid being frozen in addition to the attack's damage. On a confirmed crit, the freezing is guaranteed. The basic form of this attack has a 1 turn cooldown.
Alternatively, the polarity of the frost vortex can be inverted to pull someone in instead of blasting them. If they fail their CON roll, they are shrunken down and frozen inside a permafrost crystal. This afflicts both the frozen and the mini status, but increases the cooldown of Frost Vortex by 1. If they are KO'd or otherwise helpless at the time they are trapped in the crystal, the statuses last indefinitely until they are revived or freed.
Regardless of which variant is used, this attack isn't fire-and-forget and must be sustained. This prevents one from dedicating their attention to dodging, represented by a -2 dodge penalty to a dodge next turn. (Heavy Wis Attack; Does 28 Damage)
Force Field: A protective force field is conjured from Krystal's staff. This multi-purpose counter attack uses a WIS roll against the incoming attack roll to time the attack, reflecting ranged attacks at a new target of Krystal's choice and violently shoving anyone in melee with her back, dealing 6 damage and stunning them so that she can deliver a light or medium attack of her choice as a free action. If she fails her initial counter roll though, she simply takes the hit.
It can also simply be used as an offensive attack by running up to someone and activating it, which acts similarly to the melee variant. 2 turn cooldown
Final Smash (1)
Killing Blow: A reckless and devastating attack that involves powering through an opponent's defenses to get up and close before driving the sharp edge of Krystal's spear through their skull. When Krystal uses this attack against a foe that has attacked her last turn, she must take the last attack or last combo-attack they used against her, though any secondary effects are put off until after the final smash completes and she will not succumb to damage until after it completes either. Afterward, she is afflicted by severe exhaustion for 1 turn. This final smash does 80 damage
