Backstory: Link
History On Li: After the whole Time Distortion bonanza and an arduous battle against many different figures from other worlds and System No.XX, Team RWBY had emerged victorious, and they managed to go back to Beacon, just in time for the Vystal Festival Tournament to start up.
As she made her way to the stadium in order to watch Yang's match against Mercury, a wormhole had opened up in the middle of the street, which promptly began to pull Ruby in with overwhelming force. Much as she tried to resist, the wormhole proved to be too strong, and Ruby was pulled in...crashing face-first on the street of an unknown world.
She was subsequently sent to the hospital to take care of injuries. Once released, she was thrust into the Life Sphere. Seeing the city knee-deep in trouble, Ruby resolved to do what a Huntress-in-training does best - to help people.
Primary Attacks (3)
Basic Atk 1: Crescent Rose: Ruby’s weapon, a high-caliber sniper-scythe that she designed and built herself. Crescent Rose has two modes that reflect the two weapon types, and Ruby can switch between the two without trouble, creating some interesting mix-ups. At the cost of 1 aura she can increase the accuracy of this attack by 1 as petals flow with her slashes. [STR/DEX, DMG 8% ~ 18%]
Basic Atk 2: Buzzsaw Blast: Ruby leaps into the air and falls while spinning with her scythe, slamming it down once she lands, before following up the strike with a shot from her rifle. At the cost of 4 aura or a -1 to her next dodge roll, Ruby can perform an EX version that deals extra damage. [Normal: DMG 22%, EX ver.: DMG 30%. 1 turn CD]
Basic Atk 3: Corkscrew Slice: With the help of momentum from a gun shot, Ruby leaps into the air and rapidly spins Crescent Rose around herself a number of times before doing a finisher slash. The attack can be initiated up to twice more in succession until invoking the cooldown at the cost of 6 dust each or a -2 to dodge. [DMG 30%, 3 turn cooldown]
Special Attacks (3)
Special Atk 1: Aura: In the land of Remnant, any being with a soul (with proper training) can manifest its power in different ways. Ruby can still tap onto this power on Li, which manifests as this passive ability.
- Ruby’s Aura replaces her Shield.
- Aura HP is calculated with Shield HP + 100 taken from Ruby’s normal HP.
- If Ruby is hit, the attack will deplete her Aura instead, until it is broken. Her Aura takes 10 extra damage if an attack connects.
- Attacks/things that would normally bypass Shields will not fully bypass Aura. Instead, they'll deal 5 extra damage to Ruby (alongside the previously established 10 extra damage).
- Aura regains 15 HP for every turn Ruby is not hit. It also can be restored by healing spells. It won't regenerate on turns she uses Aura to enhance attacks.
- Ruby can use her Semblance, Petal Burst, to grant her 6 points to her DEX for 2 turns. This costs 20 Aura HP to use, and has a 1 turn CD. If used, Aura won't regenerate that turn.
- She can also use a technique known as Petal Burst Reversal to skillfully initiate her Semblance and make another strike at the enemy faster than what is normally possible. This costs 10 Aura HP and has a 1 turn CD, providing her a free Attack Action for that turn. Like Petal Burst her aura won't regenerate the turn she uses this.
- While her Aura's active, Ruby gains 2 points to both STR and DEX.
- If Ruby’s Aura is broken, Ruby will lose 2 points on every stat along with the passive bonus, and cannot use Petal Burst or Dust attacks.
- With a broken Aura, it’ll take 3 turns of Ruby not getting hit for her to regenerate it. Healing spells will not accelerate the process, healing Ruby's normal HP instead. If successful, the Aura comes back with a third of its normal HP, and the penalties inflicted with the broken Aura are reverted.
Special Atk 2: Crescent Rose (Rifle Mode): Ruby shifts Crescent Rose into its “rifle mode” and proceeds to shoot a bullet the opponent. The bullets can inherit different properties and elements depending on the Dust cartridge Ruby decides to load into Crescent Rose. (1 turn CD)
- Dustless, the attack does 22% damage with no secondary effects.
- Using Fire Dust, the attack deals 18% damage and inflicts Burn. If the enemy is attacked with Ice Dust afterward, they’ll be inflicted with Soaked instead.
- Using Ice Dust, the attack deals 18% damage and inflicts Freeze. If the enemy is attacked with Fire Dust afterward, they’ll be inflicted with Soaked instead.
- Using Lightning Dust, the attack deals 18% damage and inflicts Paralysis. A critical hit will inflict Stun on top of Paralysis.
- Using Gravity Dust, the attack deals 10% damage and inflicts Heavy Gravity. This status effect hastens Combat Action penalties, allowing only two unaffected Combat Actions, as well as inflict a -1 penalty to dodge rolls. If used, this attack gains an extra turn of cooldown.
Special Atk 3: Shot Recoil: Crescent Rose’s rifle has some powerful recoil, one that Ruby likes to use to her advantage when situation calls for it. Using up an action, Ruby can use the recoil of Crescent Rose’s shot to either dart around the battlefield or power-up attacks. If used offensively, the recoil-boosted attack gets a 15% damage boost. If used defensively, Ruby will get a +3 bonus to one dodge roll. 3 turn CD.
Final Smash (1)
Petal Dance
Approaching the opponent with a shot recoil, Ruby attacks an opponent with a series of varied slashes, before trapping them in a spinning Crescent Rose before finishing them using a recoil-boosted slash. 60% damage, single target.
Other Info: This Ruby comes from Volume 3, more specifically the point where the Tournament Arc was going to start to take a turn for the worse. Because of this, Ruby is not aware of the power of her silver eyes.
Ruby is very reliant on Crescent Rose to fight. If she's ever disarmed and unable to get it back for some reason she loses Shot Recoil and Rifle Mode and her Primaries are imitations of their usual selves but all do -8% damage since she's not skilled in hand-to-hand like her sister.
