It's that time again for an open Cool Match! The theme this time is the darker part of my spellcasting roster... Also Yellow. Ironically most of these choices are shared with the original Cool Open Challenge. The gig is the same as Up Close and Personal, 1v1 and you can suggest any alternate rules aside from that. Your choices are the themed ones below.

Maleficent was merely observing the arena atop a floating rock, technically in arena space. Witch was talking with Farle and Amithree and Yellow was next to Witch wondering how she was roped into this again.

Vanitas wanted to get his mind off the challenge he had fought against the one known as Ecolo. Taking over his body was the worst feeling and it really got him in the mood to kill something, rather vent his frustrations in the arena once more. A corridor of darkness appeared in the middle of the arena as a horde of Unversed poured out from the corridor surrounding the girls from all sides. Last to come out was a masked boy who had been used to fighting for all of his life, Vanitas would make his presence known this time and he would not let some stupid girls ruin his fun. 

As he took notice of all of the girls talking amongst themselves, Vanitas felt a dark aura among the people here in the arena. Gazing up toward the source he would notice the witch who he felt that he recognized somehow. He had no clue who this was though but his hatred seeped out of his body in the form of more Unversed as his emotions became known to all. 

Taking off his mask now felt like the correct thing to do for some reason. He also had no idea why this was but as he revealed his face he may or may not have gotten some shocked looks due to his appearance. 

"You there on the floating rock. Get down here so we can fight! I don't know who you are, but your aura feels familiar and I hate that." Perhaps some of his Unversed ran into her and those that escaped back to him gave him this familiar feeling? Or maybe she was connected to Sora and by proxy connected to Ventus. Either way he had this burning desire to destroy her and that was exactly what he planned to do. 

~Vanitas challenges Maleficent to a battle!

Maleficent looked down at the boy as he called out to him... Something about him rang familiar but that voice definitely set off her frown. Not to mention his impudence was very reminscent of him as well... "... You are foolish to sense my power and yet challenge me regardless..." Maleficent regarded. She however did not get off her perch just yet. "Very well... I'll accept your challenge but know this. You are facing all the powers of Hell when you challenge me!" she declares spreading her arms as green flames erupted from her body and a very dark aura was felt over the stadium, clashing a bit with Vanitas's own. An oppressing force to any that weren't like them for sure.

(Powers of Hell activated. Maleficent gains a +2 to her Wisdom and deals extra damage in accordance to her WIS Mod)

She then pointed her finger towards Vanitas and thorned roots would rise up all around him, trying to ensnare and bite into the Keyblade Wielder with their thorns. Maleficent would then disappear from her granite throne as the rock was now hurtling down towards the Darkness Being himself aiming to crush him into the ground. Maleficent would then reappear in a rise of jade flavored darkness and staring down the point of impact. Something tells her he won't be felled that easily but she could very well be disappointed. "For I am the Mistress of All Evil, Maleficent!" she declares proudly.

As the hag came down from her floating pebble she then called him foolish for challenging her. As she introduced herself as the Mistress of All Evil Maleficent that definitely got his attention. "Of all Evil? Please, do you really expect me to believe that an old hag like you is capable of such a thing? But do tell me when you are done rambling, so I can bury you in the coffin that you belong in." Vanitas mocked Maleficent quite obviously. Vanitas moved to block the thorn attack with his bubble shield before it could ensnare him with a vice grip like tendrils. His bubble shield decreasing from the hit as it started to fade.

65% - 27% - 10% = 28% left.

Then Vanitas would take this opportunity by attempting to dodge the rock that Maleficent was just standing on as it would collide toward the ground where he was standing.

Just barely dodging the blow Vanitas jumped high into the air as the rock collided with the ground to supposedly smash anything below it, but not Vanitas. As Vanitas was still in the air at this point he would summon the keyblades from the Keyblade Graveyard as he then started riding on them to fly around in the air.

~Keyblade Ride: Upon activation of this skill Vanitas is granted a boost of DEX of 4 for 3 turns giving a +2 modifier. Any attacks that land during the time period this skill is active have a 10% chance of Mortal Wound on the foe per attack.

"Let's go." Vanitas declared as he rode on the keyblades flying through the air toward Maleficent.

Sending Keyblades toward Maleficent in a flurry of attacks as he flew around the stadium he would use these in tandem with his own keyblade, the Void Gear before summoning it, as if they were the same thing. 

"Dodge this!" Vanitas taunted Maleficent.

~Void Gear Combo: Does 8% damage + 10% chance to Mortal Wound per hit, flavored to be the keyblades from the graveyard as what is likely to hit Maleficent.

Still flying around using the Keyblade Ride technique, Vanitas would then summon his own keyblade the Void Gear and pointed it at Maleficent. "Actually I changed my mind, you won't get a burial. I'll just turn you to ashes instead!" A ball of dark flames started to form around the tip of the Void Gear Keyblade as it was promptly fired off at Maleficent. 

~Dark Firaga: Conjures a giant ball of black fire at the foe that explodes in a massive inferno on impact. This attack has a 50% chance to ignite the foe with a Burn. Costs 20 MP. (Heavy Wisdom Fire Attack, 20%) + the 10% to Mortal Wound because of Keyblade Ride.

"... Why, so many keyblades..." Maleficent noted as Vanitas rides around on his storm of legendary weapons. "Insolent fool. You best start believing..."  Maleficent states in clear denial of pass defeats as Vanitas came towards... However instead of making a move to dodge she just stood there and take the first pass. As the second wave came she turned into a green ball of light and moved out of the way. However the next series managed to strike into her. Neither blow left any wound or much of a reaction however. In fact she was just smiling as she held up her arms and conjured a forcefield that blocked the firaga and reduced it to smoke.

It's little wonder you weren't on my watch," she remarked smugly before a heavy force would overcome Vanitas. "Your power would serve much better in my hands!" she declared, draining Vanitas's dark power as he would feel weak very fast.

"Now kneel!" she declares as thorns chase after Vanitas and attempt to wrestle him off his Keyblades and hold him tight. Sickly green flames would climb the cursed plants before attempting to lash out and burn Vanitas as well in their blazing inferno. "You'll find it will be you reduced to ashes, pitiful boy," she adds mockingly.

"HAG! GET OFF THE POOR KID!" A voice declared as the audience boo'd and a few objects hit Maleficent from the stands turning her gaze to them. "Silence or you shall feel my wrath too!" she declares just threatening the audience.

It's a Critical hit. Vanitas feels his power drained as Maleficent takes a huge chunk out of his energy reserves aka his health. Feeling his power fading fast he would have little time to dodge the other attacks headed his way but he would try regardless.

This wasn't looking too good for Vanitas now, he picked the wrong opponent to go against and he was already feeling very weak from the onslaught of attacks from the witch. 

"I'm not giving up yet you old hag!" 

Now it was his turn to attack, would he even be able to do anything against this witch?

"Fine well I have my own ways of dealing with pests myself. Show yourselves my Unversed!" 

Flat d20 for Summon Unversed: Summons an Unversed based on the number rolled, if it is a 20 it will summon a Greater Unversed.

It's a 20! Vanitas summons a Greater Unversed!

"Now witch can you handle two of us? Come Vanitas Remnant!" 

A dark aura surrounded Vanitas as out from the original Vanitas came a very powerful Unversed with an appearance similar to Vanitas except black and white with a very familiar symbol that Maleficient has seen before long ago on its helmet. 



Vanitas Remnant: Has all of Vanitas' stats and moves except for Summon Unversed and his Final Smash. Has 100 HP, 50 MP, and no bubble shield. Lasts for 3 turns. Has it's own turn after Vanitas.

Now there were two to deal with and would make this match much harder for Maleficent. 

"Now then my Remnant get me out of her grasp!" 

Vanitas ordered his Remnant to attack Maleficent to escape the Grapple he was in. He would use this chance to try to swing his Keyblade at Maleficent once more before leaving it up to the Renmant. 

WIS Roll for Void Gear Medium:  Does 18% damage if it hits plus 10% chance to Mortal Wound because of Keyblade Ride.

Now it was the Remnant's turn. 

The Remnant wasted no time in its assault against Maleficent and started with a Void Gear Medium leading to a Dark Spiral and finishing with a Dark Splicer attack.

WIS Roll for the Void Gear Medium: 18% damage on hit.

WIS Roll for Dark Spiral: Does 26% damage to Maleficent if it hits and recoils for 4% damage to the Remnant.

The Crowd didn't seem to care enough now to give him any appeal. Still this whole turn of events may change the outcome of this battle in his favor.

"... Two of you? Hm... So you used your darkness to create a dark version of yourself created from your own inner darkness. How quaint. Is this a last ditch effort? I am getting a vague recollection of you are, now. The Unversed..." Maleficent pondered before putting forth a green barrier to intercept Vantitas Remnant which held for both swings before it shattered into green dust... Which didn't seem to pretrube her in the least. She then got hit by both of Vanitas Remnant's strikes but continuing to barely wince.

"... Are such insignificant creatures. They are born from emotions to inevitably serve one master? Not only useless as servants... when accompanied by such power as yours it is no surprise they vanished from the worlds with no trace for 11 years..." Maleficent remirked with a smirk. "Your puppet does not frighten me. This battle is over. Remember this day when you have mocked the Mistress of All Evil!" Maleficent declared as she maintained the vines' hold on Vanitas and she held her hand skyward. A great big portal of darkness opened up in the sky as a giant meteor came out of the corridor rift and the giant celestial meteor made for it's impact point on the arena. The dark fairy faded away as the arena was engulfed in a massive explosion... a barrier shielding the audience from the blast more  because Malefienct wanted them to see this end and also save herself from incriminating herself yet.

"Return to darkness!" she reappeared after the aftermath of the blast... highly doubting Vanitas was in fighting condition to finish off the Remnant. A dark beam erupted from a portal behind her to disintegrate whatever was left before the dark power fueling her left and she raised a brow with a frown to see if anything remained after her final magic attack.
