The Black Market district was as dusky and gloomy as ever. Even with the sun being present in the sky, it seemed like the sleezy atmosphere shrouded the area in murkiness. Through the hustlers and street thugs, there was a lone Pokemon walking amongst them, combing through the crowds with his bladed arms. One familiar with the Pokemon universe would easily identify it as a Bisharp, others might simply think it was a regular person dressed in maroon armour.

The Bisharp moved with purpose, head drawn forward and peering left and right. His eyes scanned anything and everything, though seemed most interested in the stalls that were strewn about rather than the people that lurked among him in the streets. He continued forth until a specific vendor caught his eye, one with a sign advertising berries, poffins, and other various Pokemon-themed snack items. His eye twinkled, as though the very presence of the vendor was a challenge designed for him to overcome.

Stopping in his tracks and ducking his head down, the Bisharp slowly hid himself within the bustling pedestrians. He nimbly navigated through the city folk, squeezing through the crowds of people huddled around the food stand and snaking his way around until he managed to creep up against the side of the structure. Right in front of him were crates filled with a wide variety of berries, but just within the sight of them was the salesman, though they were a bit too busy conversing with customers, trying to break the best deal possible. Sudden harsh movements would easily be picked up, so the Bisharp moved slowly, grabbing the fruits and then sticking them to the pikes on his body for safe keeping. The more he grabbed, the bigger his dastardly grin became.

He became a bit too overzealous though, picking a Sitrus berry that was perhaps too close to the vendor’s eye for it to be so easily swiped. Mid conversation, the shopkeeper’s eyes fell upon his crated wares, catching the thief in the act of snatching their stock. Before the salesman could raise their voice, the Bisharp jumped to his feet, with narrow fiendish eyes. From his bodice erupted a pulse of pure darkness, a kinetic wave of energy that knocked the shopkeeper off their feet and rattled their rickety store front to the point that it nearly threatened to collapse completely.

Without any further hesitation, the Bisharp took the opportunity to make a break for it. Bringing his arms closer to his chest spikes, the creature attempted to conceal his ill-gotten gains and stormed through the crowds with his head mounted spike thrust forward, in case people didn’t get the point about getting out of his way.

Considerably rattled, the shopkeeper couldn’t do much in terms of stopping the thieving creature. The best they could do was shout “ey! Get back here!” uselessly out into the open. Considering the Black Market’s reputation, there was little hope to hold out for a hero within the crowds of plenty. That presumption could easily be proven wrong though.

The Black Market. Home of the scummiest of criminals and scammers this side of the Life Sphere. Just the kind of place Vanitas would fit right in. Things were unusually busy in this side of the market as Vanitas was out doing his own little amount of shopping while looking around for something interesting to do. Thing was he felt pretty off shopping for food in the first place but with his taste buds now fully being used now he wouldn't exactly feel right going shopping anywhere else for food, he could easily scare the pants off of anyone that tried to swindle him.

Because it was the black market he could pretty much get away with socking someone in the jaw if they messed with him, and he'd let them know that he meant business if they did. Hearing someone call out for another to 'get back here' it usually meant someone was trying to steal from the black market. Not usually the one to care Vanitas would just ignore that man's cry for help, that was until something was running straight at him with a bladed edge sticking from its head ready to impale anyone it got near.

Summoning his keyblade suddenly Vanitas would attempt to block the attack of the bladed helmet that this creature was trying to attack him with. "Big mistake." Vanitas would say if he stopped the creature in its tracks. "You chose the wrong person to mess with." Vanitas grinned behind his helmet as he moved to kick the creature off of his keyblade and back down onto the ground. This motion would likely spill the food that the Bisharp had taken from the food vendor. Again, Vanitas did not care about the food vendor or the food that was stolen, if someone messed with him they were going to get hurt in the process.

It would seem that caution wasn’t on everyone’s minds within the huddled crowds. Not too far into the Bisharp’s stampede, he was met with unexpected resistance, a man who decided to take the bull by its horns. Blade was met with blade, a clash that the Bisharp was confident in fighting regardless of the fact that he was trying to make a kick escape. His metal hooves dug into the ground, a combative stance that allowed his head mounted blade to fight back the sword-like weapon his challenger possessed, however, what he didn’t expect was that his opponent would fight dirty.

A sudden and swift kick to his side was enough to make the creature buckle under the pressure. All of his strength was focused onto his head mounted weapon, so all that momentum forced him to tumble to the ground face first. His hard head smashed through the tiles on the ground and his arms splayed out in a failed attempt to save himself from a sudden faceplant. A few of his stolen items rolled out of his reach, though most remained kabobbed to his spiky bits for the time being.

Watching the berries tumble away wasn’t what upset him though. The fact that he let himself be bested in one-on-one combat was infuriating. The Bisharp’s metal gauntlet pounded against the pavement.

The crowd quickly gave the two their distance, a ring forming around them as though that small area became an impromptu arena. The citizens that dwelled within the Black Market knew a fight when they saw one. It even looked like there were bookies scoping out the two combatants, readying themselves for a marketable bet should the conflict carry out further.

Eyes were on him now, so there was no ducking out. With his prone status, he had to think sharply, and quickly. Lifting himself slightly, Bisharp swung his body around, sweeping his legs against the masked man’s in an attempt to stagger him. With that momentum, Bisharp launched himself off the ground and away from his opponent, allowing him to land on his feet again. He faced the blade wielder, adopting a defensive stance and allowing his foe to take the next move, his menacing eyes challenging him to try and make that same maneuver again. “Bish…” the creature muttered.

As the creature was knocked to the ground by his sudden kick, Vanitas knew that it was likely going to fight back after that. Thing was Vanitas wanted this fight, not just because he was extremely bored with the daily activities of the Life Sphere but because he really did love to test himself in battle.

Vanitas looked over toward the incoming crowd who circled around them, making a bit of an arena for the two to fight in. In the corner of his eye he could see through his mask that there were others trying to profit off of this situation with people likely taking bets.

Taking his eyes off of the creature for a moment was a mistake as his legs were swept under from the creature's attack. This did not make him fall however, as he caught himself mid-fall by placing his hands onto the ground for a well timed backflip back down onto the pavement. "Good. Let's see what you are made of." Vanitas said as he took a stance with his keyblade, the same stance he always used.





Testing the waters he would see how much this creature could take. However he would not use any magic if he could help it, or summon Unversed. There was a crowd around him after all, and even though he didn't care about hurting the others, he did care if they got in the way of his battle.

Vanitas inched closer to the creature then suddenly and without warning attacked it. His Keyblade, the Void Gear, would be used to attack the creature with a few swipes in both diagonal and horizontal directions. However these were not random movements, these attacks were precise in every manner.

Each time Vanitas attacked he made sure not to leave himself wide open for attack but closed in just enough to land a decent hit. First he would go for a diagonal slash to each of the creature's thighs in one swift motion, if they hit he could possibly cripple the creature from even moving much at all.

The second attack was a horizontal slash aimed at the creature's chest, as it was the most unguarded area of its anatomy from what he could tell based on how it looked. These attacks were made to work together as hitting the thighs would make the creature buckle under the pressure then the next strike toward the chest to weaken it further. "Is that all you got? Stealing food isn't the only thing you are good at is it?" Vanitas taunted the creature even if his attacks somehow missed or got blocked. "How pathetic!" he said with a grin behind his mask.

Bisharp’s faceless enemy moved with subtly and skill, clearly someone with a disciplined background, at least when it came to fighting. That was about all he could read from his opponent, the lack of any distinguishing features made him particularly hard to predict. It was almost intimidating, if not for Bisharp’s own history of rigorous combat training. With his bladed gauntlets up, he was prepared for anything that the swordsman might throw at him. Or so he thought.

The masked man moved suddenly and swiftly. Before he even realized just how fast he was, the man was directly in front of him, swinging his blade wildly, yet purposefully. The first swing went straight for his thigh, an unexpected target, but as soon as the creature could feel the pain rushing through his leg, he immediately recoiled back, giving up his defensive positioning for the sake of getting clear and out of the swordman’s range. Hobbling back, he nearly stumbled into the crowd behind him.

The wound itself wasn’t as bad as it could have been, mostly surface level damage considering that his nearly metal hide absorbed most of the damage. That didn’t stop it from hurting though. He grunted as he brushed at his wound. Reckless. Short sighted. He should have seen a hit like that coming, he was better than that. Should be better than that. All of that echoed in his mind, only confounded by the next words that the masked man uttered. Pathetic.

The Pokemon fortified his stance, eyes drilling on his target. The feeling of physical pain was washed away in that moment. All he saw was a man without a face, one that he imagined having big poufy white hair.

Without any further hesitation, Bisharp rushed forward with the speed of a Rapidash, angling his head down as if he was going to ram his foe with his helmet pike again. At the last moment though, reared his head off to the side and pulled all of the momentum of his dash into his swatting arm. He batted at the masked man’s side, ensuring that the blade on his gauntlet was facing his foe.

The creature was in enough of a blind fury that whether his first hit connected or not didn’t matter. He leapt up into the quickly afterwards, hardening his mitt-like hand rearing it back like a cocked piston as he ascended into the air. Upon descent, he fired his fist forward, crashing it either through the tiled flooring or the dome that the man was wearing.

The crowd grew enamored by the intense blow for blow, the mysterious nature of both combatants and their skilled movements made the streets of the Black Market seem like a miniature version of the Sunshine Stadium. Better yet, no one had to pay for their seats. The more interest that was invested into the fight, the more scrutinous eyes fell upon it. From the back of the crowd, the low rumbling of massive footsteps arose.

The minute details of the environment were not noticed by the Bisharp, no, instead his focus was applied specifically on one person, the masked man whose very existence challenged his battle prowess. Worse than that, his strength. Losing the berries that he diligently worked to steal was a minor thought, barely an infraction. It was a matter of avenging his wounded pride.

Just as the Bisharp motioned to strike his opponent, he felt his body seize up, as if something was holding him back. Literally. He peered back over his shoulder, eyes glancing past the rim of his helmet to see that his elbow was in the powerful grip of a big black paw. Rolling his eyes up the length of the blobby arm, Bisharp’s vision would be met with the vacant expression of the pink face Bewear, one that would quickly explode into a low-toned roar. The creature only let go of the Bisharp’s arm specifically so that it could follow it up with a quick and sudden bear hug, one that the Bisharp didn’t have the opportunity to escape from.

Of course, the Bisharp squirmed and did all it could to jab the Bewear with the spiky bits that it had its arms wrapped around, but its spongy plush body made it difficult to puncture its flesh. Besides, at the sound of a familiar feminine voice, it ceased its struggles. “There you are!” the voice claimed from behind the crowd.

The clacking of heels against the tiled floor echoed through the area until Lusamine emerged from the crowd, flicking back her massive cone of hair once she wasn’t clustered by people anymore. “We’re going to have to cut back on your free roam time, you had me worried sick” she spoke like a concerned mother, circling around her big bear companion so that she could look at Bisharp directly. His eyes shied away with a groan.

During her movements, Lusamine narrowly stepped on one of the berries that fumbled out of Bisharp’s hands, looking back at him with a shake of her head. “Out stealing food again? Tsk, what’s so wrong with the food we make you, hm?” she asked sweetly, patting his metal cheek. She didn’t expect an answer, though had one of her own considering that she had a son that was remarkably similar to the Bisharp. The correlation of that thought process came pretty natural to her.

After properly addressing the Bisharp, her attention turned to the masked man behind her, a hand placed to her chin and a friendly warm smile on her face. “So sorry for the trouble. This one is my responsibility” she explained, pointing back at the Bisharp. “He’s a bit of a handful at times, but he’s a real sweetheart when given the right amount of tender loving care. Hopefully he didn’t hurt you too bad. The Aether Foundation can certainly reimburse you if he has.”
