The Life Sphere Mall....

So utterly bizarre....

So...inherently ominous....

So.....Not at all where we're going today.

Nope! Fortunately, the Mall was under yet another set of renovations. Seems to be a common occurrence for some reason. Instead, the target destination was a small building quite close to where the Mall was. A small little shop, almost chalet-like in it's appearance, with brown walls and white trim. It almost looked like a gingerbread house! Considering what it was selling, it seemed thematically appropriate, at least. Compared to the ominous aura the mall let off, this place was almost welcoming. As if it was trying to coerce a random passerby to stop what they were doing and go investigate, at least.

And in front of this very sweet looking building, a strange book sat on the sidewalk. Should one approach it, it would start to twitch, before it burst open, flipping though it's pages rapidly. And as suddenly as it started, it stopped, now open to the exact midpoint. Its pages started glowing brightly, to the point where it became impossible to read anything, before....what looked like a purple-furred cat leapt out of the pages!

"Woah! Good job Book! We made it!" Yuumi said, landing softly on her feet as she looked up at the now floating Book. Book fluttered it's pages proudly, and Yuumi smiled at it. "Yeah, of course you did a good job. You haven't failed me yet!" Book's pages fluttered again, more subdued this time. As if it was a little embarrassed. Giggling, Yuumi looked around the outside of the store. "Huh, I guess I'm the first one here. I hope the others get here soon though! I'm starving!" The magical cat looked to the candy shop with a glitter in her eyes. Seems she was really looking forward to this.....

A mirror appeared a bit away from Yuumi. It looked like an ornate mirror you would put on a wall that was just... hanging in the air and seemed to come out of nowhere. It definitely wasn't there a second ago. In the reflection stood a girl in a... colorful outfit. Colorful was the right word definitely before the reflection would make a running start before jumping out of the mirror and landing on the ground. The mirror then flipped around... getting faster and faster and faster until it shattered into a billion pieces that each faded away. "Okay, so the mall is there so the candy shop must be..." she began as her eyes went to her... destination?! "Wow, I actually got it right~! Yeah! I was worried it'd take me a few more tries..." she admitted as she glanced around...

"... And I'm the first one here? Huh, now that seems a little too good for me..." she said skeptically. Did she get the time wrong and she was late for the Grand Opening. Her eyes wandered for a moment before seeing the cat. "Oh, a cat sitting on a magic tome, you don't see that everyday... Wait, are you here for the sweets? Can cats even have sweets?" Farle questioned... well come to think of it she never considered what a cat should eat... she didn't exactly trust herself with a pet after all. Everything she touches has a habit of exploding....

A set of rhythmic thunks would resound around the road leading up to the mall as a woman, clad from head to toe in metallic armor and carrying a large, bright green shield, jogged up to the shop. Despite this being a simple opening of a candy shop, the knight had decided to show up fully decked out in armor. Was this a training thing? Perhaps she was suspicious of the place and had came prepared just in case?

...The reality would be far more embarrassing. Reva didn't have any clothes that were fit for walking around in public aside from the giant suit of armor she'd arrived here in. Could she get some more clothes if she went shopping? Yes, but the issue was that the easiest place to go and get said clothes was currently under renovations...

Her thoughts were broken as she saw the other two who had arrived. A young girl and... a talking cat? She had gotten used to the weird creatures that lived here, but... still. She couldn't help blinking twice as she saw Yuumi speak and float around on a book.

"So... you're here for the treats too?" She found herself scratching the back of her head as she said that. To tell the truth, she was here mainly to satisfy her sweet tooth, something that she hadn't gotten the chance to fulfill in well... years.

As the ornate mirror appeared before Yuumi, she stepped forward curiously. What kind of mirror was this? She couldn't even see her reflection in it! Just an image of a girl. That seemed to be getting closer. And closer...

Suddenly, the girl burst out of the mirror with a crash, almost scaring Yuumi out of her fur as she jumped back, holding Book in front of her protectively. Soon, the shock passed, and Yuumi came out of hiding, jumping on top of Book to float up to Farle's height. "H-hi! I'm Yuumi! Yeah, I'm here for the treats! The invitation said that anyone was welcome, so I decided I wanted to come!" Book rustles beneath her sharply "....Yeah, well, you're just gonna have to live with it, Book. We can have a night off once and a while. It'll be fine!" Yuumi said. Book fell silent, and Yuumi nodded, as if to end that particular train of thought.

That wouldn't have lasted too much longer regardless, because another new face showed up. Flying on Book over to Reva, Yuumi decided to say hi to the other new friend. "Hi! I'm Yuumi! You look...really well equipped for a candy store. Weird. Oh well. And yep! I want some treats too! I hope this store sells some good ones."  Book flicked its pages in annoyance again, but this time Yuumi ignored it. Good thing too, because just as the cat finished speaking, the door to the candy store opened with a chime, and out stepped who Yuumi guessed was the owner, a rather heavyset, yet kindly-looking old woman.

"Ah, welcome, welcome everybody! I'm so happy you could make it! I'm Ingrid Sweetstuff, but you can just call me Grandma. I'm the owner of this store, Grandma's Sweete Surprises! I just know that you all are going to have a good time, and plenty of sweet delights! Come now, you must be starving. Come on in!"

With that, she opened the door, and no sooner was she out of the way, then Yuumi lead the way inside. And what awaited them was.....certainly something alright.

Everywhere Yuumi looked, various candy and treats of all kinds lined the wall, and hung from the ceiling. you had your normal chocolates, gumdrops, candy canes, and other assorted confectioneries. However, if anyone looked closer, they'd notice some very....odd creations sitting among the candy....

From what looked like a cookie pizza...

To cakes perched on top of sundaes...

To the most decadent looking doughnuts that Yuumi had ever seen. She almost couldn't look around fast enough. To say nothing of the smells that assaulted her nose as soon as she entered. So sweet! Yuumi honestly didn't know what to look at first.

"Wonderful, isn't it? I may have gone a bit overboard while preparing for the opening..." Grandma said, still standing at the entrance, watching the three girls look around the shop. "In fact, I'm letting you girls take whatever you like home with you. Consider it a gift from Grandma for coming to her opening."

"Really? That's so nice of you! Thanks!" Yuumi said, purring slightly before turning back to the display of candy she was looking at. Now came the hard part. What exactly did she want?

"Huh, well that's fair enough. Good to just take a break from your goals and indulge yourself I think..." she said as she could practically feel the hunger consume her. She then looked to the... heavily armored woman that entered the scene. "Well, yeah, why else would I be standing here? The mall's closed," she pointed out before looking to Yuumi. "Oh yeah, I'm Farle," she introduced with a nod. "I haven't really had many sweets before... but hey, what better time to fulfill that hole, right?" she added as she looked back to the shop. No point in being unfriendly to them after all.

Just then the store owner herself came out to call them in. Seeing no point in wasting any time not in the sweets shop, Farle rushed in after Yuumi... Her mouth practically watered at the display of sweets. If she did not remember where she was before this she would of assumed she has died and finally gone to heaven.... Yeah right, she was probably too dangerous for that anyway... Still, she was not going to let that get her down as she looked to the grandma's offer... It was probably a bad time to say she did not have a wallet come to think of it so she was much grateful for the offer. "Really? Awesome~! Thank you, Grandma!" she practically beamed as she looked back to the cookie pizza. That thing had a lot of chocolate... which meant she could put it to the Mom and eat sweets at the same time! Who needs a lousy chocolate bar when you can get a cookie pizza! With this devilish plan in mind she reached out for the cookie pizza.

Reva found herself mostly chuckling rather awkwardly as the other two answered her question, the knight partially thankful that Yuumi didn't prod much farther into her current clothing situation.

Suddenly, the door would open before the three of them. That heavy set woman stepping out of the door and greeting them. The armored gal giving her a soft wave before being led inside.

As the three (or does Book make them four?) of them stepped inside, Reva's eyes widened. Even back before her world was destroyed, she'd never seen anything like this. The walls and racks filled to the brim with sweets of all sorts. There were even some hanging from the ceiling! It took every bit of self control the knight had not to gawk at the incredible display. She'd lugged her shield inside just in case something went down, but she nearly dropped it out of shock. Everywhere she looked she saw something that would likely make her mouth tingle from how sweet it was.

It was a strange feeling. She didn't doubt that others were feeling it too. But for her, it was far more intense. It was like she was drowning in all of this candy. Her mind was swimming from the sheer choice overload she was already presented with, she'd nearly missed the kindly old woman's offer. After shaking her head. She turned away from all of the sweets and gave her a warm smile of her own.

"I-I very much appreciate the offer ma'am. I'll definitely be taking a bit of this home. I just... need to figure out what..." So this was "Choice Fatigue"... She'd never been given such a dizzying amount of options before. Especially due to the state her world was currently in. Eventually her eyes laid upon one of those donuts. The knight gingerly pointing her finger towards one of them. "I would like to try one of those, please."

"Of course darlings, take as much as you like!" Grandma said happily, softly gesturing to the bright displays. Yuumi didn't need to be told again, and happily took a doughnut for herself to take home. Book, being, well, a sentient book incapable of actually eating, chose nothing, but instead floated beside Yuumi, it's pages turning rather nervously. It couldn't put it's non-existent finger on it, but something about this whole place felt....off. Like there was something hiding behind all the bright colors. But Yuumi didn't pay much attention to her friend's concern. She was too engrossed in the pastry she had picked out. With his nervousness going unanswered, Book fell silent, continuing to keep a lookout for anything strange.

After a while, Yuumi finished off her doughnut, thoroughly enjoying the pastry she'd picked out. It was pretty rich, so she was actually feeling kinda full. Slowly getting up, Yuumi hopped onto Book, who fluttered a bit in surprise before lifting her up like normal. "Mmm....Well, thanks for the sweets, Grandma! I'll be sure to stop by again sometime, but we should probably go. Can't spend all day eating sweets, right?" With a smile, Yuumi floated back toward the entrance. But a voice called out to stop her.....

"Oh, leaving so soon? But there's so much more to try!" Grandma called out, her voice having a...slight edge to it. Not much more different then normal, but enough to sound just the slightest bit off. Spinning around on Book, Yuumi turned to look at Grandma, who had folded her arms in front of her. "It's fine, Grandma, we can come-" Yuumi started before she was cut off by Grandma raising a hand. "I made so much...I'd hate for it all to go to waste."

At Grandma's signal, the sweets that were still around the store started to....float in the air around her? Silently, the old woman gestured to the three girls "At least take some to go!" 

With that, a cookie pizza that was on the stack Farle had took from spun towards her, trying to take head off with its....crust. Sure, that works.

Farle! The pizza is aggressive! Make a DEX check of 14 or higher or take 15% Damage!

Meanwhile, the doughnuts that Yuumi and Reva had picked out started throwing themselves at them, also aiming for the head

Yuumi started ducking and weaving around the doughnuts that were being tossed at her, trying to keep her balance on top of Book at the same time. After nearly falling off Book again, she stopped. There had to be a better way to do this.....wait!

When the next doughnut launched itself at her, Yuumi leapt right at it, her mouth wide open as she tried to snatch the doughnut out of the air!

As the doughnut flew straight at Yuumi, the magical cat grabbed the doughnuts in her mouth, swallowing them whole. Her stomach rumbled a bit as she tried to keep it down, but eventually, the rumbling settled and Yuumi got back on Book, feeling even fuller then before. In fact, her little stomach was starting to bulge downward a bit, squishing against her legs slightly. Book fluttered uncomfortably, not used to the extra weight.

New Mechanic revealed! If you wish, you can make a CON check equal to the DEX check required instead to Devour an attack instead of dodging it. On a successful check, you keep the enemy down, removing them from the fight. However, you also gain a stack of the Plump status. These snacks are pretty high calorie, after all! Along with the regular penalties, a Plump stack will also inflict a -2 debuff to any further Devour attempts. Fortunately, you may sacrifice an action to rid yourself of a stack. Should you have three stacks of Plump, you cannot bring yourself to eat any more.

Once she was settled, Yuumi took aim at the other donuts, her paw burning as she shot a ball of flame toward them!

Floating away on Book as the doughnuts was blasted, Yuumi floated close to Reva. "Come on, let's take these pastries down!" she said, watching said doughnuts float lazily toward them. Seems her magic was working quite well.

"We can't?" Farle questioned Yuumi for a moment... Oh right, dying by too much sweets was probably one of the more embarrassing ways to die... "Yeah, I'm sure my sisters would want to know about this place-..." she began before cutting herself off... Something wasn't right for some reason. She had a really bad feeling she could not properly explain. She looked back to the pizza for a moment... to see it moving. In a moment of shock she opened her mouth without really thinking about the consequences of that decision.

The food went down instantly but... something felt off. Did she gain weight that fast? She summoned forth a mirror to examine herself... Yeah, she definitely gained quite a few pounds from one sweet. There is just no reason to make sweets like that. She took a moment to jump up and down and get her body flowing until her reflection slimmed down and her with it. "Your food is delicious but I think it could use some less fat... and trying to attack us."

"Heat!" she declared, firing several bolts of fire to try and scorch the doughnuts. "I should of known free food was too good to be true..." she took a moment to lament after the fire spells were flung... Her aim was also wildly off as the fireballs were erratic and danced around their targets. "... And my magic is not much better..."

Reva hadn't even had much of a chance to really catch what was going on with Yuumi and Grandma. The mint haired woman to busy looking over all of the delicious looking treats in front of her. The knight only really catching what was going on when she heard the kindly woman's tone shift. There was a tinge of malice to it... it was unsettling...

The next thing she knew. The candy suddenly turned aggressive! Floating into the air and flying right for her!

At first Reva had readied her shield to block the assault, only for her to watch as Yuumi managed to evade the first wave and... swallowed them all?

It took her but a moment to properly understand what had just happened but she regained her senses just in time to watch Yuumi blast the second wave and Farle to narrowly miss the other. Slowing them enough for her to well... follow in the cat's footsteps.

Using the slowness of the pastries to her advantage, Reva dashed forward swept her shield forward. Blocking and redirecting the impact of the donuts as forced them ricochet up towards her face. Her maw opening wide as the wave swept forth inside. It was strange, she wasn't really used to eating all of this food at once, especially during combat. But perhaps it was the fact that she hadn't eaten well in years that drove her to actually try this out? I mean, her previous foes weren't so easily edible before...

As the train of thought passed. Reva found herself letting out a stifled belch as the last of the donuts vanished down her throat. Her stomach feeling a lot tighter as she felt all of those pastries settle down inside.

For a brief moment. Reva almost forgot she was in the middle of a fight as she wiped the crumbs from her mouth. Only for her to shake her head as she turned towards the older woman. Her shield once more at the ready as she positioned herself between Farle and the store owner.

"I understand that you don't wanna let all of this spoil, but attacking your customers is usually pretty bad for business..."

She felt that she was heavier from that little impromptu meal. But she wasn't too worried about it right now. All she cared about was maybe talking this lady down before she caused any actual harm...

"So please... Just relax. The food's great and I'm sure it can last a day or two longer..."

One by one by one by one, each of the pastry soldiers disappeared into the mouths of the three girls (Er....two girls plus Yuumi). However, despite her initial force disappearing as fast as it appeared, Grandma didn't look at all deterred. In fact, she looked positively giddy. And possibly like she had more then a few screws loose. Ignoring the words of both Reva and Farle

"Ha ha! Yes, it works! Finally!" The old woman celebrated to...pretty much nobody. Yuumi, still a bit unsure on her feet due to the new weight, looked over to the old woman curiously. "Huh? What are you talking about? What works?" she asked, hopping back onto Book while the unfortunate tome flicked its pages in surprise and discomfort as it tried to support more Yuumi then it was used to.

Still cackling to herself, Grandma turned to face Yuumi with a bit of a maniac look in her eye. "My living sweets! Each of you gobbled them right up, and they worked exactly as intended!" Grandma would poke at Yuumi's swollen stomach briefly with a bony finger, only for Yuumi to swipe at her angrily with her claws. "Hey! Don't touch me like that!" she hissed, though Grandma was hardly paying attention to her anymore.

"Humans, animals, even the mirror clone were all affected equally, ahahahaha!" Grandma cackled again before hurrying to the back of the store. "Now, I just need to make them stronger...more effective..." she muttered to herself, seemingly trying to figure something out in her head, before turning back to the girls and cat. "Ehehe..but where are my manners? Here, have some more, there's plenty where that came from!"

With a wave of her hand, another group of living sweets broke away from the piles in the room. Three of the most luscious, decadent looking ice cream floats tumbled to the floor, catching their entire contents in their glasses, before all three of their straws stretched out of the ice cream like some sort of periscope, and fired globs of ice cream toward the girls!

Farle and Reva! Ice cream is headed straight for your face! Make 3 dodge rolls of 14 or higher to avoid them, or take 18% for each roll you miss. You may also attempt to eat the shots, but be warned, the effects of doing so might be slightly different this time around!
