Backstory: Not much is known about Gorgon for a backstory, but in this instance I will have to make some use of my own knowledge and what I can perceive as possible...
In regards to sources, there are two variations of Gorgon, the first being a monstrous bull whose breath causes petrification, and the aptly named Medusa of Greek mythology whose very gaze turns victims to stone, the former and latter are from Dungeons and Dragons and were introduced in the first iteration of the franchise. The Gorgon seen in Puyo Puyo Quest takes after the Medusa iteration and is a humanoid monster girl with some snakes as part of her hair, and the ability to turn people to stone with just a glance.
The difference between this Gorgon and Medusa is how they use their powers, Medusa more reliably uses fear based on the myth, this Gorgon does not; in fact she is quite timid and refrains from looking at people with her eyes and so wears a blindfold over them, allowing her snakes to see for her as they act as her eyes because she can't control he power that well, she is also the biggest coward amongst others, frightened by birds larger than her like the Garuda, She is also shy and shows a little empathy when she wants to comfort someone with a hug, her snakes somehow know what Gorgon would feel and emulate those feelings as well, comforting Gorgon herself when she feels scared or nervous.
Gorgon's shyness also sparks her being a slow talker, instead of speaking coherently, she speaks much like a shy person would, and is prone to becoming silent for long periods at a time.
Gorgon's Empathy is not without it's drawbacks however, as she is also susceptible to being made sad or frightened by acts of racism -more specifically, racism against non-humans like herself; especially if it comes from another non-human- to the point where she often can be seen crying in silence, her tears turning into little stone pebbles as a result of hearing things that would make her feel shunned.
History on Li: A most curious circumstance often occurs when you least expect it, and this is true in the case of Gorgon. She was always minding her business and popping Puyos with great pleasure and keeping herself preoccupied with nothing more than keeping out of other people's way, though to be frank she wasn't exactly the best in terms of keeping her power in check as she more often than not wound up Petrifying her opponents that she had no choice but to wear a blindfold or have others wear one of she wasn't.
As though it was karmic justice, while one day as Gorgon was popping Puyos again, she accidentally summoned a portal through this that uncerimoniously dropped her onto Planet Li, right on the roof of the Lightweather Hospital, where she would settle down and make camp, of course she was asked by the people who worked there to fine an actual house to live in with all due respect, and helped her out with the situation somewhat since she was basically a little kid who was exceedingly nervous and had a tendency to keep a blindfold to her eyes out of not wanting to turn people to stone.
Since Gorgon was now in the relative safety of the Life Sphere, she usually sticks to the fountain and any trees that were nearby, though in one instance she was attacked and swallowed whole by a Garuda, and only regurgitated to prevent her from being turned into giblets by a massive icicle stalagmite courtesy of Warle, resulting in her fear of birds that were bigger than her, which was exacerbated slightly by Thanatos using his Shapeshifter abilities to turn into a green Chocobo.
Even then, Gorgon would rather stay close to specific people, or those she would know altogether as she is not exactly a fighter, which she tends to avoid unless she is forced into defending herself.
Standard Attacks:
- Venom Spray: (DEX, 5% dmg, 10% poison chance)the snakes spray venom at the target, dealing damage and inflicting Poison.
- Maddening Wail: (CHA, deals damage based on the targets INT, targets INT, multi-target) Gorgon let's out an ear piercing scream that hits foes hard, this scream not only targets the foes INT stat, but deals damage based on their INT stat, three turn cooldown.
- Venomous Mist: (WIS, 8% dmg, 70% chance of Poison)Gorgon and her snakes exhale a poisonous vapor that has a high chance of poisoning the target in addition to dealing damage.
Special Attacks:
- Gorgon's Gaze: (CHA, 25% chance of both Fear/Horrified and Paralysis) Gorgon removes her blindfold and unleashes a horrible death glare that deals no damage, but can inflict both the Fear/Horrified and Paralysis status at the same time Simultaneously. Three turn cooldown
- Remedy: (CHA, heals status ailments) Gorgon's Snakes bite into the target and injects a healing remedy into them which purges the target of any Status abnormalities on them, this does not work on those who are Swallowed Whole however, and can only be used if the target is outside of the tummy. This has a cooldown period of 4 turns due to the strain it puts on Gorgon and her Snakes.
- Petra: (WIS, targets DEX, 5% damage, 10% chance of Petrification(Freeze))the most terrifying ability of any Gorgon - human or otherwise - is the ability to turn their targets to stone with a glare or their own breath, and with this Gorgon, it is extremely dangerous to all who face her, which is why she wears that blindfold, but once that blindfold is off, Gorgon unleashes a powerful beam from her eyes that deals damage and has a ten percent chance of trapping the target of her ire in magical stone.
Final Smash: TBA{Leaving this unfilled for reasons}
Other Info:
- The Compile-era Gorgon is more bull than humanoid, whereas the SEGA-Era Gorgon takes after the Mythological monster known as Medusa
- Gorgon is completely terrified of any bird larger than her, as a result, she is enemies with the Garuda. This is less so for Thanatos since he is a Shapeshifter and a deity to boot, still doesn't like his turning into giant birds to scare her.
- Since this Gorgon cannot control her power that well, she wears a blindfold to prevent people from looking into her eyes directly, May God help you if she is forced into removing the blindfold...
- Is a bit of a crybaby.
