TORIEL DREEMURR

Alignment: Neutral Good.
Motto: "Ah, do not be afraid, my child."

Enemies/Rivals: Asgore Dreemurr.
Backstory: "You've taken an interest in me? I'm flattered!"
Appearance: "What is it, my child? You look as though you've seen a ghost!"
History On Li: Toriel has made the most out of her life on Li. After arriving in a world where monster-human segregation doesn't exist, she put her nobility behind her. Now that she didn't have the Ruins to maintain, she could finally pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a school teacher. She was able to find her way to Hylia's Grace Academy, who were more than happy to have her. There were never enough courses to provide a comprehensive curriculum for the multiverse, but Toriel contributed everything she possibly could. Now, she happily teaches courses on Lorekeeping and Non-Playable Humanities. Teaching warms her heart. Caring for her students fulfills a need she never knew she neglected. All is well. Except, there's one small problem-
Toriel died. She was killed before she ever stepped foot on Li. The Boss Monster has no idea how she met her fate, but she can't seem to get the idea out of her head. Memories of her death will come like vague apparitions. They're frightening, but they never give her anything concrete. The only thing she knows for sure is that she sustained a grisly gash to the stomach. How does she know? Because the scar is still there. It's a constant reminder that she's a visitor here on Li. She'll never arrive at the truth unless she goes back to the Ruins. Her fractured memories may haunt her, but they might also carry the secret to getting her home.
Primary Attacks
Hot Paw: Toriel imbues her paw with embers. This cooks food, warms hearts, and produces a gentle flame to read by. [DMG: 8% Tags: WIS, Light, Combo.]
Fiery Wisps: Toriel produces a colony of fiery wisps. Toriel controls every painstaking movement this attack makes until its magic burns off. Always causes burn - unless otherwise stated. [DMG: 5% Tags: WIS, Medium, Burn-Inflicting.]
Ensnaring Flame: Toriel attempts to surround a single opponent with a ring of fire. That enemy rolls DEX opposing her WIS. If they roll lower, that character is now ensnared for a number of turns equal to half of Toriel's WIS modifier - rounding down. If the character may attempt to leave the circle before the spell ends. If they do, they take 5% DMG and re-instigate the DEX v. WIS contest. Every failed escape attempt adds the half-modifier as though the spell were re-cast. This spell has a cooldown of three turns. [DMG: 5% Tags: WIS, Heavy, Opposing Check, Cooldown.]
Special Attacks
A Heartwarming Hug: Toriel reignites an ally's soul with a magic-infused mom hug. Heals 1d6+CHA with a 50% of healing any Lesser Status, or heals 1d4+CHA while automatically curing any Lesser mind-affecting Status. Requires one turn of cooldown. [DMG: N/A. Tags: CHA, Healing, Curing, Cooldown.]
Spear of Ruin: The Dreemurr's birthright. The spear reminds Toriel of her fractured relationship with the king. It's also her most offensive spell. When she conjures the Spear of Ruin, she may elect to launch it at an opponent. That results in a clean 23%. No muss, no fuss. If she uses the Spear of Ruin this way, she'll need 3 turns of cooldown before she can use it again.
She may also use the spear as - well, a spear! Toriel may opt to assume a parrying stance with the Spear of Ruin. On that turn, she does no damage. If she receives damage at any point between that point and her next turn, she negates it. Instead, she deals half of the damage she would've received - plus a percent-value equal to her base WIS score. Toriel is too slow to parry attacks with the Light or Combo property. When Toriel uses the spear in this way, she cannot do it again until the battle ends. That applies, even if she does not manage to parry anything with the attempt. [DMG: 23% or 1/2 of incoming attack + base WIS. Tags: WIS, Heavy, Versatile, Negates Damage, Cooldown.]
Non-Combat Special: Indecisive Cooking
Thanks to her heat-inducing magic, Toriel can prepare dishes on the fly. She begins play with a number of ingredients equal to her WIS modifier. These ingredients determine how many pastries she can craft per mission. The pastries each have a Turn Until Ready dial that determines how soon they can be used. A pastry with three Turns Until Ready cannot be used until Turn 3 of combat. When a pastry is baked, it has a cooldown equal to that dial.
Note: A pastry does not have to be eaten the turn it comes out.
Some pastries will reference a "Caretaker Die." Toriel's Caretaker Die is determined by her rank. As she progresses, the value of the Caretaker Die will increase. As a Smashling, her Caretaker Die is 1d4+CHA.
Pastries to Prepare
ABC Tea.
Turns Until Ready: 1.
Sharing tea with someone is a great way to get to know them! When Toriel shares this drink with someone, roll her Caretaker Die. Add the result to any Charisma or Wisdom check the fighter makes to discover something new or learn someone's emotional state. The resulting roll also determines how many rounds of combat the bonus lasts. If Toriel makes ABC Tea outside of battle, the fighter may retain their bonus until they fight again.
Slice of Snail Pie.
Turns Until Ready: 2.
It's fun to cook with snails! Just as they're Toriel's favorite ingredient, Snail Pie might be Toriel's favorite recipe! When a fighter consumes a slice of Snail Pie, roll two of Toriel's Caretaker Die. Heal HP the result. HP gained this way cannot go above your maximum HP value. Toriel can't use the Snail Pie on herself. How's she going to get anyone else to try it when she's eaten it all?!
Cinnamon Bunny.
Turns Until Ready: 2.
Sans got this recipe from a woman in Snowdin. Toriel promised she'd make it for him - but she can't remember if she ever kept that promise. Hand this heartwarming dish to anyone with a status ailment that prevents them from moving. Just smelling the Cinnamon Bunny gets that fighter back on their feet! Toriel cannot use the Cinnamon Bunny on herself - how can she prepare a dish if she can't move?!
Legendary HERO.
Turns Until Ready: 2.
Toriel used to make these for the Royal Guard before they went on their patrols. They're delectable seafood sandwiches which help a fighter grow big and strong. If someone eats this, they gain the Mega status for a number of turns equal to Toriel's CHA modifier. Eating the Legendary HERO while digested causes the Swallowed Whole to be cured - as though the fighter had dealt the 40 damage themselves. Toriel cannot use the Legendary HERO on herself - unless Swallowed Hole. She's trying to watch her waistline, but she'd want her enemies to be mindful of their diets, too.
Final Smash: "I give my LOVE to you..."
Toriel imbues herself with liquid determination to turn back the hands of time. Toriel may only do this when the majority of her party has formed a strong bond with her. When Toriel activates this move, the party's HP and cooldowns restore to how the were 4 turns before this move's activation. Since monsters have an adverse reaction to determination, Toriel will not be able to return with them. After one use of Final Smash, consider this character retired.
