Big metal guy, robot suit, gang of lackeys.  Yup, that sounds familiar.  Maybe this one wouldn't be incompetent.  Give him a bit of challenge.  Although, he would admit that it was pretty fun to make a fool of them.  Pac-Man looked back over to the hole when the alien mentioned the trap door.  He didn't recall noticing it back there.  That would definitely be worth checking out.  Spinning back around at the mention of a trophy, he understood what that meant.  He was up and ready for that.

The sudden skyward shot caused Pac-Man to stumble back, losing his balance and falling onto his bottom.  Well, that sort of worked out.  He got back up once Samus had finished with the alien and brushed himself off.  Better than what could've happened.  Pac-Man gave the Arachnus a nod in Samus' direction with an amused look.  Someone's a little uptight.

Pac-Man smirked at Samus' stern words as she ventured off into the trap door. 

"Aye aye, captain!" He jokingly remarked, sending off a salute before carefully descending after the purple-N-white robo... wait wasn't he here to beat up robots?

As the charging beam grew brighter, the Arachnus buried his head in his claws, spouting “aw no!” at the last possible moment before the cannon finally fired off. There was a good few seconds where the creature just stood there frozen, expecting to fall over dead at any moment, but it miraculously never came. He patted down his body, just to be sure that there wasn’t a hole somewhere that he wasn’t aware of, the pain being absent due to shock, but he was in one piece.

With big eyes and a shrivelling turtle-like neck, the Arachnus listened in silence as the infamous bounty hunter outlined the next few important steps of his day. He sheepishly nodded, only once so as to not offend the huntress. A gust of relief swept over him when she finally turned her back. He appreciated the round man’s attempts at lightening the mood, but all he could offer him back was a glazed expression with a look of deep thought. He rubbed the back of his neck. “…I’m gonna go back home and rethink my life…” he muttered to Pac-Man as he gently removed the satchel from his person. He then curled up into a ball once more and sped off into the distance.

In the meantime, the trap door easily gave way to Samus’ furious fist, however, her tactless approach severed a wire that was hooked onto it.

The following drop down the hole was not considerably long, a twenty-meter fall at worst. Upon landing at the bottom, the team would find themselves in a dark tunnel, a short one at that. The craggy walls would quickly open up to a much wider cavern, one so filled with floodlights that it offered far more light than the surface. It was a spacious area, quite open save for the occasional crate or stalagmite. At the opposite end of the cavern was a metallic structure that was half-submerged into the wall. It was a fortress, armed with two turrets at each end of it.

Within the open space, there appeared to only be three figures. A skeletal mechanoid facing opposite two space pirates. By the looks of it, they were consulting one another over the results on a data pad. The machine angrily swiped the device out of the space pirate’s hands. “How could you not perform such a simple task!” Ghor hollered at his underlings, slamming the data pad onto the ground. “The auto-turrets require meticulous maintenance! We already have the Life Sphere breathing down our necks! We can’t have them exploding when they send in their operatives!”

One of the space pirates tilted their head in confusion. “But they follow your schematics perfectly.”

“Perhaps to the untrained eye.”

Before the conversation could carry on any further, a third space pirate came rushing out of the metallic complex. “The silent alarm has been triggered!” the creature alerted through huffs of breath.

Ghor’s bright eyes briefly scanned the landscape of their hideout before falling back on his trio of troops. “Find the trespassers” he ordered with a stern point of his finger. Without any further hesitation, Ghor rushed back to the compound with a clear sense of urgency, making sure to shut the blast doors behind him.

The three space pirates were left to their own devices, looking to each other strategically and barking at each other in their garbled language before splitting off. The three went to separate corners of the underground plaza, inspecting behind clumps of rocks and overturning crates for the sake of seeking out their quarry.

The hideout provided the group with plenty of options in terms of places to hide. The immediate exit to the tunnel had plenty of craggy protrusions that allowed for a sneaky individual to infiltrate without being detected. Better yet, two of the space pirates were inspecting nearby quadrants, though at opposite ends. Perhaps they could be taken out quietly.

Challenge!:
You can quietly tiptoe from cover to cover. With how brightly lit the cavern is though, keeping stealthy won’t be easy. To move forward, you must succeed a DEX roll of 14 to avoid detection. If you fail, the pirates will be alerted to your presence and commence combat.

If you have a ranged weapon, you can try to shoot out the lights for the sake of making stealth a bit easier. You must succeed an attack roll of 13 to successfully shoot out a light. If you succeed, the cavern will become darker, decreasing the difficulty of stealth checks by 2 for you and your allies. Should you fail though, the space pirates will be alerted by your presence, drawing them closer to you. This will increase your stealth checks by 2, but decrease your allies’ stealth checks by 1.

If you succeeded the forward moving stealth check, you have a chance at making a stealth takedown of one of the pirates. If you succeed a DEX roll of 16, you have successfully taken down the space pirate without bringing attention to yourself, feel free to flavour text your takedown. If you roll 13-16, you still manage to deal half of the pirate’s total health, but all the pirates will be alerted to your presence. If you roll 12 or lower, your takedown fails, dealing no damage to the pirate and all the pirates will be alerted to your location and commence combat. A successful takedown will decrease the difficulty of your next stealth check by 2.

Regardless of what action you take, even if you choose to not take any, you must make a stealth check at the end of your turn. To successfully stay hidden, you must succeed a roll of 7. Keep in mind whether you got any negating or additional modifiers from your previous actions. If you fail, the pirates will be alerted to your location and commence combat.

It was good that he was careful when he entered the hole or else he would have tumbled down it helplessly.  It was quite the drop but Pac-Man threw him self in, slamming down onto the ground with a well-timed butt bounce.  He sprang back up into the air upon hitting the floor like bouncing on a trampoline before sticking the landing, hands raised up to catch the crowd.

Looking ahead, he could see a group wandering about.  He could hear somewhat of what was said with the yelling.  More importantly to go find him and the other two.  He took to looking around the area.  The spot they were in was good but it wouldn't do much in terms of moving forward.  It also wouldn't help in the fact that he was pretty much a bright yellow sun on legs.  Nonetheless, Pac-Man looked back at the two for a moment, thinking on the matter.

"We aren't getting anywhere standing around."

And with that, Pac-Man took his boots onward and carefully made his way forward.

Maybe it was how many light there were, or maybe he lost his footing, or maybe the fact that a bright yellow ball was moving about but it caught the guards attention.  Pac-Man stood there with that same smile on his face.  The scenario didn't really seem to faze him.

"Acknowledged, proceeding with descent." KOS-MOS would say, dropping down onto the depths of the area, her being an all metal android would put her at a potential disadvantage because of the fact that when she landed, the metallic floor would easily collapse alerting more than just the Space Pirates, but also Ghor to her presence.

As for stealth...  She would take to moving swiftly to avoid being detected...  Unless by some unlucky reason they had a metal detector.

Thankfully for the Combat Android, not only did one come her way, but was also so ignorant of the danger that it never saw her coming, let alone notice her suddenly speed blitz them until it was too late...  Simply put; KOS-MOS could easily become the ultimate assassin, though in her defense; she was indeed created for the extermination of the Gnosis, so she was already a Weapon of Mass Destruction all wrapped up in a humanoid package...  She secretly hoped that Ghor didn't take notice of this fact.

Clunk! Samus landed onto the ground with a trademark 'Super Hero Landing', Posture for the back not being something on Samus's mind it seemed, as she progressed forward and observed the Tunnel ahead. Brightly Lit, Moving shadows in the distance...Yep. Space Pirate Territory. Now, Samus would obviously consider the first option to be stealth in this here tunnel, But with her Power Armor, Stealth was not exactly viable, Nor necessary. Samus was a walking tank at this point.

However, There was a factor stopping samus from that. Pac-man and Kos-mos. Team mates. Samus didn't want to charge in guns blazing and cause them to spring into the fight, Nor did she want to cause such a ruckus that it would cause the space pirates to flee out of any hidden doors. Then again, If this locale was important, perhaps they wouldnt flee on the offset....Regardless, Samus decided to take it stealthy.

The trio patrolled the perimeter with a keen eye and even sharper wit, so it was a surprise to no one that once the dawdling bright yellow sphere tiptoed toward a position of cover, it immediately caught the attention of the two guards in the vicinity. They very quickly hobbled over to Pac-Man’s location, wasting little time and raising their blasters for the sake of making quick work of whomever dared to invade their base of operations.

The last of the trio was not aware of their invader, mostly because he was on the other side of the cavern and facing away from the scene. He continued his patrol as normal, eyes glaring from left to right. In a split second that he couldn’t even process, KOS-MOS sprung from the shadows and snuffed out the space pirate’s life. He was reduced to a trophy, in the same way that he and his crew had done to those looters back at the crater. Due to KOS-MOS’s excellent subtly, she remained undetected by the other space pirates. The same could not be said for her teammates though. It leaves her with a choice.

Choice Time!:
With KOS-MOS currently undetected, she can continue her operations in the shadows and move forward to the base proper. To remain undetected, KOS-MOS must succeed a DEX roll of 13. If she does, she can move forward toward the base’s door and attempt to hack the lock.

Hacking the lock: KOS-MOS can roll up to 3 d6s, 4 if her INT stat is above 14. Once the dice are rolled, she can pick any combination of the dice, so long as it is equal to 9. If she is not capable of making a 9 out of the dice she has rolled, the security pad will lock her out indefinitely.

Alternatively, she can blast the door open, but due to the material it is made from, it will be a difficult nut to crack. KOS-MOS must succeed an attack roll of 16 with an attack that deals 20 damage or more, otherwise it will simply deflect off. Much less subtle, but it gets the job done.

If KOS-MOS doesn’t want to abandon her teammates, she can forgo all of the above options and join the fight instead. This means that the first attack she makes will be a guaranteed crit (so, no need to roll) since the space pirates are not aware of her presence.

The choice is yours.

As the two space pirates approached Pac-Man’s location, Samus popped out of cover to snipe out one of the lights, failing miserably at that. Regardless, the duo was much less eager to get in close, leaping backward out of shock. One of them raised his wrist communicator. “Finx to all units, Samus has been spotted! Reinforcements to my coordinates, effective immediately!” The creature suddenly leapt into the air, two drone-like jets arose from behind him. An electric tether shot out from both of the drones, attaching to the one named Finx, allowing him to hover in the air.

The other raised his wrist communicator as well. “Enable auto-guns, voice authorization: Krogg.” The space pirate looked upon the duo with a sinister gaze, a muffled laugh as he heard the whirring sound of the mechanical turrets attached to their base moving and locking on to their intended targets, Samus and Pac-Man. A high-pitched whine insinuated that the turrets were readied and charged. “So much for the great Samus Aran” Krogg cackled confidently.

Just as the cannons were about to fire though, the turrets echoed a powering down sound, the barrels falling limp, followed by a trickle of smoke rising out of them. Krogg’s confident stance remained, though he was clearly left in stunned silence. A split second later, a scythe-like blade sprung from his wrist and Krogg’s back boosters launched him at Samus with near Mach speed.

After getting in close range with Samus, Korgg proceeded to slash at his enemy in rapid succession in a cross formation.

The drones sputtered as if they were barely holding together, like they were jerry-rigged by some sketchy Black Market mechanic, but they were functional. More importantly, one of them opened to reveal a glowing light, which only became stronger the longer it charged. Finally, a beam of light ejected from its orifice, striking the area where Pac-Man stood with a mighty explosion.

The aerotrooper swayed in the air, zipping around like an insect so that he didn’t remain in one place for too long. The drone hanging over his other shoulder opened up as well, revealing a small cannon of a different variety. This one launched a missile that spiraled toward Pac-Man location, to which Finx followed up with a cocking of his arm cannon. The weapon released a familiar beam of heat, a Plasma Beam modelled after Ghor’s design. The beam of heat followed Pac-Man should he attempt a mode of retreat.

KOS-MOS would promptly ignore the door for now and decided to deliver Finx a surprise lethal energy beam from their blindside.

KOS-MOS blindsides Finx with an X-BUSTER, since it is an automatic critical hit, Finx will take 64% damage by blindside, KOS-MOS is now under the effect of -2 WIS modifier for 3 turns.

Followed by three R-Cannon blasts in a Combo chain...

Another strange looking thing had began it's approach.  Pac-Man watched the two airborne gadgets carry it around for a second too long as one fired out a beam of light at him.  Without much time to think, he quickly pulled his arms up in front of him and closing his eyes tight.  The beam of light swept an explosion across him as he stood his ground.  Pac-Man cracked one eye open to see that he was still standing to his surprise.

The next few hits did not have a miraculous results.  Pac-Man just as quickly dropped his arms and attempted to hop out of the way of the missile only to be struck by it and blasted back.  The following heat beam wasn't pleasant either as it followed right on his tail.  The nasty lick of heat caused Pac-Man to let out a "Yow!" as he placed a hand over the mark.

With this guy wanting to stay up in the air, it was probably in his best interest to bring him down to earth.  Pac looked behind him right quick and spotted a large enough crate.  Jumping up onto it, he took a second to ready himself before leaping out towards the aerial attacker and swiping his boot out at them.

"Really wish i didnt spend last night on paperwork!" Samus barked at herself, Somewhat blaming carpal tunnel of signing off on paperwork and lab research for her lowsy cannon fire, as suddenly, a Whirring of Turrets prepared to fire upon them, as Samus stood back, ready to aim fire at the Turrets once more-- Her Cannon fire against there's, only to see it...Fizzle out and fail. Huh? Samus looked up to the turrets, and under her helmet, smirked. "Thank's, Ghor." Samus said, Thinking Ghor was playing some trickery. It was then that Krogg boosted at Samus, Attempting to Ram her over, to which Samus instead took to the ground, Curling up into a Morphball, And rolling directly past Krogg's feet!

 Well, The Reason would show itself as Samus's Arm cannon whirred with a sound of Charging energy, The Whirring stopping with a peak of green light coming from it's base. However, Unlike the Turret's before, Smoke didnt come forth, But instead, Samus aimed the Cannon directly to Krogg's Back, Near the Spine.  "So much for the 'Great Space Pirate's, Right?"

KA-BOOM! A Massive Blasmic Explosion burst from Samus's Arm Cannon, Like a Giant Green Wall slamming into Krogg like a Truck speeding down a freeway with no driver, Would be unleashed in the form of the Battle Hammer!

The aerotrooper cackled with delight as he watched Pac-Man struggle to outmaneuver his onslaught of death. The low-tech maze runner didn’t seem well equipped for his advanced weaponry, and that fact amused Finx. The compartments on his weapon pods opened again, glowing with power as Finx shouted “pray now and maybe you’ll get your cake in the after-” before he could finish that sentence though, a flash of light erupted from behind him. Out of terror, the creature spun around to investigate its source, only to be speared through the chest by KOS-MOS’ X-Buster.

The sudden and surprise hit caused Finx to be blasted backward, grasping at his chest in anguish. “There- there’s another one!” he alerted his partner with bated breath. With renewed focus, the creature closed the hatches on his weapon caches and redirected the power to his jet boosters, twirling out of range of KOS-MOS’ next pot shot. As he came to a stop, he raised his wrist to his chest, activating a light based force shield that bounced the R-Cannon’s next energy blast off. He then dipped as the last of the barrage came his way, the beam just narrowly passing over his head.

Just when Finx felt like he had a moment to breath, KOS-MOS suddenly summons a set of gatling guns from thin air, aiming them directly at him. Without much time to react, the Space Pirate pulled his hand to his chest again, activating his force shield. The bullets of the weapon acted like hard rain sprinkling onto a windshield.

Almost forgetting about his round and yellow playmate, Finx narrowly noticed that he was suddenly behind him. Impossible, how’d he get in the air so quickly!? It mattered little though, with a slight reeling back of his person, Finx managed to scrape by, the aerial energy of Pac-Man’s attack being inches away from his face.

In the course of dodging Pac-Man’s attack, Finx managed to position himself underneath the spherical man, possibly the worst place he could be. His enemy capitalized on this perfectly by using his downward momentum to trounce on Finx. The Space Pirate managed to finagle his way out of the first strike, but he didn’t expect his foe to ground pound a second time. His spherical body smashed against Finx’s back apparatus, causing the electrical tethers to weakly flicker and the drones attached to them to sputter and smoke.

As the bounty hunter rolled between his legs, Korgg’s head followed like an ostrich ready to poke its head into the ground. He tried to follow Samus’ movements with his eyes, but got sidetracked when his partner alerted him of a third intruder. “Another one- Where’s Kargg!?” he spouted in rage, head darting about until he found his third squadmate lying on the ground over yonder, trophy form already activated. His expression hardened.

With little time to react, Korgg activated his force shield, the power beam deflecting and flying off some other direction. Unfortunately, staying statutory as he did made it very easy for Samus to reposition herself, directly behind him and waiting for the shield to fall. As if he had a danger sense, his brain flared with a buzz. When Samus smashed her cannon forth, the Space Pirate left twenty feet into the air, doing an impressive backflip in succession with his movements.

As Korgg was daintily flying through the air like a trapeze artist, there was a massive booming sound, unlike anything he had heard before. His head twisted toward the ground, only to be met with a shimmering wall of concentrated pain, a beam of green light slamming and launching him further off into the distance. His limp body smashed against the metal plating of their base before he flopped back onto the ground.

Korgg’s head lifted, gaze shooting over to his even worse for wear comrade. “Hold the line! Ghor will skin us alive if they interrupt him now!” He leapt back onto his feet suddenly. His chest puffed out, back arched as a sinister blue and black aura burst from his body. It still lingered as he settled himself and pointed at Samus. “Laugh while you can. Soon everything will be corrupted, including you!” he hollered as raised his weapon. Much like himself, it surged with pure Phazon energy, especially when it fired. In a single round of fire, a missile and a beam of plasma erupted from his gun, both barreling toward Samus.

Finx hit the ground with a slapping thud, flat on his face. He was barely holding himself together, nearly on the brink of collapsing completely. When his partner restated their mission though, he set his sights on Samus with a sinister grin. In his condition, he had little chances of doing any major damage, but with his jet boosters he could make one explosive divebombing attempt. He sprung onto all fours and readied himself for take off, preparing himself to become a living torpedo. All that resulted was some puttering from his engines, not even moving him an inch. The round one disabled his rocket pack!

Finx’s head whipped around to face Pac-Man once more. “You’ll pay for that, Pac-Boy!” he shouted as he revealed his pulse cannon and let out a concentrated beam of plasma

As much as the yellow man made for a good and satisfying target, he couldn’t just merely forget about KOS-MOS and the critical injury that she made him endure. He had a special barrage for her. Try as he might to get his Particle Cannon to work, it was linked to his dysfunctional jetpack, so he would have to resort to blasting her away the old-fashioned way. Still lying on his side like the wounded soldier he was, he propped his weapon up and sprayed away with his pulse cannon, ensuring that he’d soften her up with a well-placed missile first.

Samus threw a passing thumbs up to Pac-man and Kos-mos as they took care of there own space pirate threat. "Good work. Give me a moment, This one'll be joining his friend soon." Samus would say, Putting hand to her arm cannon and striking a Familiar Pose. But then, Her pose faltered as Korgg took a...Shocking turn of events, his chest expanding out with a shimmer of blue corruption. Samus narrowed her eyes through her visor, and shook her head. "You idiot." Samus would say bluntly, As she aimed her cannon to Korgg. "Ive been corrupted before...And i'll never see it happen again." Samus said, full of determination!

A Missile was launched at her! Samus would suddenly narrow her eyes, a Metroid's Ferocity in her eyes as she suddenly moves!

"Subject unit Ghor is the least of your problems." KOS-MOS said in perplexed tones as she promptly erected a very special bubble shield around herself to annul Finx's onslaught, said bubble shield looking exactly like the titular Zohar from her native universe.
KOS-MOS bubble shields the attacks: {65-10(activation penalty)-19(missile)-8(pulse cannon)-8(pulse cannon)-8(pulse cannon)=12 shield durability remaining!}

Once KOS-MOS dropped her shield, she would immediately open fire on Finx again...

However the energy attack seems to be a distraction as Finx would soon find that the Combat Android was closing in on him for a diabolical kill combo...  Which should have been a little better and also served as a distraction to allow one of her allies to land the finishing blow if possible.

Finx remained grounded, his wounds leaving him vulnerable and incapable of springing back into action. Being a space pirate though, he’d fight tooth and nail to keep invaders from ransacking their base of operations, even if it meant his own death. As it would seem, death was closer and closer by the minute. KOS-MOS aimed her weapon at Finx, so he flopped over to his other side, what felt like a vain attempt at dodging.

Much to his shock, the energy blast sailed directly past Finx, almost as if she wasn’t aiming for him at all. His head poked up, darting from side to side to figure out where she could have possibly been aiming. It wasn’t at his partner, was it some kind of trick shot? Before he could find the answer to that himself, he turned to face KOS-MOS again only to be conked on the head by her R-Blade. An eruption of light exploded from his head, his body being enveloped in brightness before it was reduced to a trophy.

After firing off his rounds at Samus, Korgg’s body began to violently spasm, the blue hue of the phazon corrupting his body becoming stronger. His head reeled back, a cry of anguish. He could barely process what was going on around him, the state of shock freezing him in place for a moment, though as he saw the beam of ice barreling toward him, he flexed his body inward, summoning a wall of energy to absorb the damage for him. That was all it could take though, shattering upon impact and knocking the space pirate back a bit.

The ethereal tendrils continued to wildly squirm and wriggle out of his chest, but the blast from Samus’ cannon was enough to snap Korgg back into the reality of the situation. “Ah, a price to pay” he muttered, the pain of the corruption causing his voice to go a bit hoarse. “But it is you that’s the fool, Samus! Too blinded by ethics to see the true power of phazon!” he loudly announced, the blue aura in his eyes glowing.

The space pirate nimbly dodged the Power Beam, performing a combat roll to the side. As he landed back on his feet again, the blue energy radiating from his body pulsed again, causing his body to cease up as he motioned to leap out of the way again. This made him a prime target for Samus’ missile, exploding smack dab in the middle of his phazon filled chest. He writhed in pain, nearly falling forth, but he managed to stop himself, his eyes glowing even brighter.

As if his body was acting without his mind’s input, Korgg’s body launched forward, helped by the jet on his back. He launched toward Samus once more, forming into a shoulder checking position as his body flew through the air.

His head finally rolled around to face Samus proper, now that he was up close and personal. His battle scythe flipped out of his arm like a switch blade and began to slash and stab forth in a wild manner, the tip of his blade glowing like the rest of his body.

After unleashing his furious swipes, Korgg quickly turned his head over to KOS-MOS and Pac-Man, noticing his fallen comrade and figuring he should cover his back now that it was three against one… for the time being anyways. He pulled a grenade from his ammo belt, gripped it tightly, transferring a radiant energy from his body into that of his explosive weapon. He proceeded to lob it overhead, the grenade bouncing onto the ground between the duo, threatening to consume them both in a fiery blaze if they didn’t get out of dodge in the next couple of seconds.

In the meantime, the catacombs of the underground lair began to echo with the sounds of footsteps, an army’s worth of feet scattering against the ground. It didn’t originate from one location either, the multiple tunnels leading into the cavern gave off a hint of this sound, some showing the spiky shadows of a legion of space pirates shambling forward. Clearly, when Finx called for backup, he wasn’t just calling one or two other space pirates, he was calling in a swarm of them!

With less than Grace, Samus was rammed into by the Space Pirate, Skidding back and losing her grip to the ground, almost stumbling over until recaching herself, Giving a shake of her head. She had nothing to say...Nothing she *could* Say. This Space Pirate Sacraficed itself to the Phazon. And so, Samus would only focus on dodging!

"Goodnight." Was all Samus would say, before a Triple Power Beam Blast was sent right for Korgg's head to blast it off!
