Mary and Rose
Earth (Mega Man ZX) and Yoshi's Island (Mario) respectively [OCs]
Motto: "We clean up nice!"
Allies/Friends: Orphans, Each Other
Enemies/Rivals: Authority
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Backstory (Mary): Mary was orphaned in a maverick attack at a young age, found bruised and battered in the ransacks of her home. She was then brought to an orphanage, where she wound up becoming quite popular with the other kids for doing their chores for them and beloved by the staff for helping with what little work she could. Though it was difficult for the staff to let go of her, her dutiful and respectful nature lead to her being quickly adopted.
However, the family that adopted her turned out to be very dysfunctional behind closed doors and was more interested in her work ethic than they were interested in having a daughter. They wound up taking some of their problems out on her and could be rather violent at times. This eventually lead to Mary fleeing her new home. Her parents called the police on her, and after being brought back once she learned to avoid authority.
Mary wound taking shelter in an abandoned Metro Station in one of the shadier areas of town.
Much like in real life though, while the station itself was no longer in use the tracks were still used by passing trains. So while she was exploring it, she got caught in front of an approaching train, too short to scale the smooth walls and escape back onto the platform without a stairway or ladder. She attempted to run from the train to buy herself time and while she was running a voice called out to her from a crevice in the damaged tunnel wall. By sheer chance, there was a biometal hiding in the tunnel. Taking its advice, she reached into the crevice and touched it, megamerging with it! She then promptly used the broom it bestowed her with to propel herself up the wall to safety in the nick of time, saving herself from a gruesome fate.
She would later wind up making the abandoned subway station her hideaway home. She stole and scavenged to survive, and once she had enough to provide for herself she actually took in other street urchins and took care of them, making something of a rudimentary family unit on top of which she positioned herself as the mother figure. It did, however, take quite a bit of convincing for others to accept this little eight year old girl as their leader figure--especially the older kids. Being somewhat feminine, innocent, and even a bit cowardly, she didn't exactly stand out as a leader right away. However, with Model R's help and a bit of kindness she was able to eventually earn their respect.
Backstory (Rose): Rose grew up in Yoshi's Village on Lavalava Island, having wound up briefly trying to play Mom for the Fearsome five after Sushie left to assist Mario in defeating Bowser. She was a well-liked yoshi in her community, always peppy and cheerful and happy to help. However, she often had to work hard to keep the Fearsome Five out of trouble, and had to learn to fight the local jungle wildlife and Shy Guys to do that. She has explored everywhere from Jade Jungle to Mount Lavalava to the ocean floor in one incident. This resulted in her getting something of an undeserved reputation as a tomboy who tends to get in trouble herself, a point of light-hearted teasing from one yoshi to another. She is somewhat small for a yoshi as a result of her relatively young age. In spite of this, she had an on and off love interest in the form of a blue yoshi she was close friends with.
Eventually though, she set out to the mainland to get an education in a tiny boat, only to encounter Captain Syrup and her band of pirates on the way there. Having underestimated how hard crossing the ocean was and being quite hungry, she agreed to their help traveling in return for service and payment. However, after realizing she was traveling with thieves, she had a brief scuffle with them and fled to the Mushroom Kingdom.

Primary Attacks(3): Whack: Mary smacks or throws any variety of blunt objects at a foe. These items can be broken fairly easily by stronger opponents who target them with attacks, and she can only carry 6 of them at a time. She can, however, salvage items she finds in a thread to restore her 'ammo' if the thread creator describes them being around. While merged with Model R, she gains a ceratanium broom that cannot be broken so easily. (Does 3d8+4 damage; assume max damage for a crit) Frying Pan: Mary's most reliable weapon while un-megamerged. Does double damage if the target fails their dodge roll by 6 or more, representing a direct hit. (Medium Str Attack; Does 14% Damage) Roll Buster: This canister is normally hidden underneath Mary's skirt, and only appears while she is megamerged with Model R. She can whip it out and attach it to her arm to use it to blast someone with searing plasma! Can be charged at the cost of 1 extra combat action for 12% extra damage and +2 accuracy. This attack benefits from the effects of solar based buffs, such as Sunny Day for example. (Medium Dex Attack; Does 18% Damage) Special Attacks(3): Model R: Mary fuses with Model R, increasing all of her modifiers by +2 and granting her a +5 damage bonus. However, during every turn she takes an action while megamerged she accrues a charge of strain. If she uses haste actions, she accrues a second charge. At the end of her turn she makes a CON roll. If the result is less than 12, she gains another charge. She then takes recoil damage equal to the charges of strain she has. Strain reduces at a rate of 1 charge per round out of combat, 2 per round if she is allowed to rest her body, and 4 per round if she takes a nap, afflicting herself with sleep. Variable Weapons System: Only available while merged with Model R, Mary can copy and store weapons to use later! It takes an action to summon a weapon, and once she does it takes another action to switch to another stored weapon. The action cost can be negated, but she gains a charge of strain for doing so. She can store up to 5 weapons.
Ultimate Attack(1): None: I'll give her one later after she learns more about fighting and gains more of a fighting identity of her own. | Primary Attacks(3): Flutter Kick: Rose jumps into the air and rapidly kicks an opponent, attacking to overwhelm with a flurry of gravity defying kicks! Has a +2 to its accuracy and 1% recoil. 1 turn cooldown. (Light Str Attack; Does 8% Damage) Egg Toss: Rose tosses an egg at an opponent that, assuming it has no one in it, pops on contact! She can carry up to 6 eggs at a time, and she can create new eggs at a rate of 1 action per egg. The eggs have a +2 accuracy bonus. She can use eggs containing people as ammo for this move. (Heavy Dex Attack; Does 30% Damage) Ground Pound: Rose ground pounds an enemy, attempting to squash them! She leaves herself vulnerable in the process, suffering a -3 penalty to her next dodge. The target must then make a CON roll. If they roll 19 or below, they are stunned. If they roll 13 or below, they are also paralyzed. +2 accuracy. 2 turn cooldown. (Medium Str Attack; Does 20% Damage) Special Attacks(3): Mount: Rose can accept a rider of reasonable human size, whose DEX mod is buffed to match hers. Any attack that hits the rider has its damage split between them and Rose unless it is an AoE. Nomf: Rose can initiate a grapple using her tongue as a ranged weapon, pulling a foe back into her mouth! She can then bite then for 18% damage, or swallow them to afflict the Digestion Status. However, she leaves herself vulnerable when she attempts this, causing her to suffer a -2 dodge penalty on her next dodge roll. 1 turn cooldown. However, she can also spit the target back out. She can spit enemies at each other which does 20% damage to each if they hit. Or she can spit an ally at an enemy, granting them a 30% damage bonus to a physical attack and using Rose's dex modifier for that attack if it is higher than their own attack modifier. Egg Lay: This move is performed by initiating a ranged grapple using Rose's tongue. She quickly passes them through her body, trapping them inside a pink yoshi egg and popping them out. The egg functions as a grapple. However, damage from within to break the grapple is reduced by half. At the cost of an additional action, Egg Lay can afflict mini. Alternatively though, Egg Lay can be used to protect and heal people. If the person in the egg isn't attacking, they regenerate 1d10+10+(Rose's Cha Mod) every turn. If someone dedicates their turn to sitting on or embracing the egg , their warmth reacts with the egg and further accelerates the healing by an additional 1d10+10+(Sitter's Cha Mod) each turn. If the thread isn't in combat, you can timeskip healing in the egg by specifying that you are spending X minutes healing/sitting on the egg. For every minute, it heals as above, and it is up to your thread leader to interrupt you partway through that process if they want to stop you from healing. Ultimate Attack(1): None: I'll give her one later after she learns more about fighting and gains more of a fighting identity of her own. |
