Several days have passed since that abandoned farm first appeared in Harvest Acres... since the slaughtering of those poor toads that had dared go near the field of corn it overlooked and the revelation of the horrible monster that lurked within. Since that day, several more citizens had vanished from the Life Sphere. Their homes emptied with no trace of whoever had lived there. Any previous attempt to push into the corn field to find the creature again ending in nothing but more disappearances. The police force eventually deciding to close all investigation of the field until a more definitive solution was made.
It was these circumstances that brought the mage to finally come forward. He was used to hiding his power, Demacia was notoriously hateful towards magic of any kind. Letting even a small bit loose would bring the Mageseekers to his door and chains around his hands... But the Life Sphere was different, magic was accepted and even practiced by a good chunk of the population. And that meant he had no excuse now...
When the party finally arrived at the designated meeting spot, the sun would still be hanging high over Harvest Acres. The heat of spring running over the the green grass of the farmland. They were standing at the top of hill that overlooked the cornfield. It was impossible to see into what was within it, even from up here. The maize was so thick and tall. It seemed almost otherworldly. A veritable ocean of bright yellow and green and somewhere deep within it lurked a monster of terrible capabilities. One that had already slaughtered dozens if not hundreds in the short span of time it had arrived.
The mage turned back to the group as they reached the top of the hill. His hands clasped tightly over a dark brown book. The spine and covers wrapped in jet black tendrils that seemed to almost shift and squirm out of the corner of one's eye. He took a deep breath before finally pulling up his hood. Revealing a young man, likely in his early 20's, messy jet black hair swishing slightly in the wind.
"Thank you all for coming here. I can't do this by myself so your help is very much appreciated." His gaze turned back to the field as he put the strange tome away. His words were rather shaky, he didn't seem very confident.
"My name is Alcile and the monster that lurks in that field is something from my world. As such, I wanted to try and take responsibility for it. I initially intended to capture the beast and try to use it's powers for the benefit of the Life Sphere." He hesitates before finally continuing. "But I don't even know if the spell I've been preparing can even properly contain it... He shook his head, he couldn't think about the negatives right now. Instead he reached into his robes and pulled out a large purple gem. A small blue rune scrawled across the front of it. Bright blue light glowing off the stone as he held it out to the party.
"Regardless, if we're even gonna bother trying then you all will need this. It's a special crystal from my home world, it has all of the mana we'll need for the spell I plan to cast, but it's only got enough juice to do it once. So we're only getting one shot. If you find the thing, weaken it. Beat it to an inch of it's life and force the dark magic it houses to flee. When it does, raise this stone and aim the beam that'll fire from it. If you hit, I should be able to handle the rest from here."
(Alcile is giving the party a Catalyst of Aeons! This item is only usable in this thread and can only be used by one ally. Whoever holds it gets a passive +1 bonus to all Wisdom and Intelligence checks, including attacks! But, also note that carrying this item is a very great responsibility as whoever is wielding it will need to be around in order complete the sub-objective of this mission.)
