Beginning playback…
Undyne awoke in an unfamiliar location. Her head was throbbing, and she could barely make out her surroundings. Where was she? After a while, her vision cleared up, and she took a look around. She was in an alleyway in an urban environment, but it clearly wasn’t what she remembered during her time in the underground. It was too...bright. Looking up, she found the reason for this.
There was sky above her head. She wasn’t underground anymore. She didn’t understand. How did she get there? She tried to remember what led up to this, but she couldn’t recall anything, and her headache intensified. There seemed to be some major gaps in her memory, and why that could be eluded her.
She went out and found some Life Sphere residents. Many human, many obviously not human, and some that seemed to blur the line between the two. She explained her situation as best she could, and she was escorted to LightWeather Hospital. There, she was given a basic explanation of where she was, apparently a planet named Li, and that she was supposedly from another universe. However, it seemed as though there was nothing they could do regarding the gaps in her memory, and most of her friends back home were not known to have ever existed on Li (and the ones that were had dropped off the radar some time ago).
Understandably, Undyne was heartbroken, and spent quite some time hoping that she would simply return home. Unfortunately, that never happened. Eventually, she decided that if she was stuck on this planet, she might as well make the most of it. She had been told of the death and suffering in this world. She knew the people of the Life Sphere needed her. Thus, with newfound determination, she carried on, hoping to put her combat prowess to good use...
Primary Attacks (3)
Punch [8%]: A simple series of jabs. Where’d she learn to do that? Good question. Maybe she has some boxing experience (Light Attack, Strength).
Spear Stab [16%]: A stab forward with one of her spears. A move with decent knockback, and not much else (Medium Attack, Strength).
Suplex [22%]: For the wrestler in all of us. This move can be used during a grapple, but it isn’t actually necessary. This move has two variants (Heavy Attack, Cooldown 3, Strength).
Target Suplex: The target is suplexed. This gives the move a 50% chance of disabling the target’s Strength Stat during their next turn.
Boulder Suplex: A boulder is suplexed onto the target. If the target of the move cannot reasonably be suplexed themselves, this variant must be used. This variant gives the move a 75% chance to paralyze the target, as the target is crippled, just in a different way...
Special Attacks (3)
Spear Trap [20%]: Those spears aren’t just for CQC, you know. Undyne spawns a spear below the target, intending to skewer them. This attack targets Wisdom, instead of Dexterity (Heavy Attack, Cooldown 2, Wisdom).
Mini-Spear Shot: Three small spears are thrown towards the opponent, which they then home in on. Each spear deals 8% damage, and has a +2 modifier to hit. This is because the move was intended to be faced head-on
Green Attack: This magical spear swipe is intended to stop opponents in their tracks, so that the only option they have is to face Undyne head-on (See above). A target hit by this attack is given a green tinge and is magically bound to their current location. The target is forced to become stationary, unable to move from their current location unless forcibly moved. The target is given a -3 dodge penalty on their next turn. If the target has a shield, this becomes a -5 dodge penalty, but to compensate, the target’s shield takes 3% less damage from all attacks (down to a minimum of 4%), and the activation cost is reduced to 5% (Strength Vs Dexterity, Cooldown 3).
Final Smash (1)
UNDYNE THE UNDYING:
(Artwork by Opiu)
A stronger form. Undyne doesn’t know where it comes from, but feels like she should. Aside from the new look, she receives an instant 30% health regeneration, as well as an increase in power and toughness. Her Strength and Constitution modifiers increase by 2, any negative status effects affecting her are removed, and damage inflicted on her is decreased by 1/4th (Rounded Down). This transformation lasts for three turns, and Undyne receives a -2 to Strength and Constitution rolls during the turn after the transformation ends.
Other Info:
- An idea I’ve been tinkering with for a while. I decided to spice things up by creating an ambiguous backstory, which I think fits well with her home game’s theme of memory. First time I’ve created a transformation Final Smash, too. Feedback is appreciated.
