Backstory: At the young age of five, Ashley Hyakuta began to grow more comprehensive with language and aware of her surroundings, properly communicating with her parents in complete sentences and beginning to accelerate her understanding of the world around her. It was at this point in time that she then offered herself to assist with her father's experimental biology work. Despite some of his father's protests, he began to allow infrequent trips into his workspace, taking on the mantle of keeping a close eye on both work and his daughter.
A close bonding between the unknown and Ashley's mind began to surge forward, piquing her curiosity and bringing newer, more exciting things to her attention with each new step taken around the lab. Perhaps unluckily for the father, one day his attention began to slowly divert back to his work efforts and away from Ashley, just long enough for Ashley to walk into a glass cylindrical chamber! The chamber, detecting the presence of a living, breathing organism, quickly shut down and began an automatic routine, trapping Ashley inside and beginning to undergo a highly experimental molecular process on her heart. The father, in all of his attempts to stop his prototype, failed to override the process, and watched in horror as his daughter was tested on.
Then, something went horribly wrong. A massive explosion, followed by bellowing smoke began to surge from the chamber. Chaos was strewn across the entire laboratory, making it impossible for the father to locate her daughter and try to rescue her. Minutes later, police arrived to respond at the scene, and the father was charged for misuse of highly reactive and dangerous equipment within his residing neighborhood.
Ashley, meanwhile, was nowhere to be found. As she woke up floating in a large lake nearby her prior home, one notable thing became apparent to herself: Despite the explosion happening from within the chamber, the only particular damage she suffered was a minor concussion, resulting in the loss of a fraction of her memories. Among those memories was her name, failing to recollect it. After an hour of turmoil, she settled on moving onto a nickname, the first thing to pop into her mind. That name would be "Harmless".
A week later, she began to realize a very notable change in her body, and the core reason for how she had survived the disastrous explosion within her residence. Stemming from her heart and residing within her interior body, was an orange/silver-colored Aura, that seemed to have an innate reflex to protecting and empowering her to combat life-threatening situations. She had little scientific explanation behind the matter, as she did not have access to her father's scientific notes at the time, nor the comprehension for something so experimental. What she did know, however, was that she had at least one tool out of her limited toolbox to make some kind of a living, and perhaps foster an independence, despite her grieving for her family.
Fast forward several years, and Harmless began to make an independent living off of the land, before eventually becoming recruited to an academy of trained warriors, otherwise known as the Robot Fighter Academy.
The Robot Fighting Academy has always been able to produce top-notch students. Harmless was no exception. Quickly learning the fundamentals and some advanced techniques behind hand to hand combat, boxing, and aikido, she quickly became a competent fighter. The only thing she truly lacked at that point was experience, and a masterful understanding of the arts she trained under.
Assisting her success was, of course, her Aura, of which she still had little proper knowledge on. What she did conclude, however, was that this aura could be physically manifested from her hands to perform various special commands. Such unique moves included launching an aura sphere from both of her palms (a-la Hadouken!), creating a slightly convex barrier equivalent to photo-kinetic construction, and so much more she has yet to develop.
...
So why is she on the planet Li?
As it turns out, during a particularly tense moment involving a hyper-reactive quantum generator at a planetary space station, blowing up said generator was a one-way trip to messing with parallel space and time. This resulted in multiple copies of Harmless getting thrown each and every way, whether through creating many realities in the same timeline, or even displacing her entirely from her home! To simplify explaining the matter, Harmless seems to have warped in after an even more disastrous event with experimental technology occurred.
Being sent in as a projectile from orbit should have ended her completely. However, thanks to her aura, she seems to have survived entry, let alone crash-landing into the strange world. Waking up to the new surroundings, she once again has to adapt to the new circumstances, and pray she doesn't fall to a third disastrous outcome...
Appearance (Art credit to NantheDark on Deviantart):
History On Li: Harmless's experience on Li was summarized in the following actions: Running away from many a thing the majority of the time! Several hostile encounters and no familiarity with anyone has resulted in her being rather paranoid of this strange world, despite her relatively good morals and intentions. It doesn't help that her entrance wasn't exactly... subtle... leaving little room to doubt for word to spread about her appearance.
Thankfully, Harmless is relatively resourceful, pooling her supplies with what foraging she could afford to do during her uninvited stay. In addition, her aura and abnormally good immune system provide a defense against Starvia, at least to some degree. Her movements seem to be slowly approaching the Life Sphere Central, unknowing of what could await her yet again, and being on guard for even the friendliest of faces...
Primary Attacks (3)
The Fundamentals: [Light, 3-12%]
True to her close-quarters combat training, Harmless enjoys getting up close and personal, dealing damage with various punches, kicks, and body checks to attack her opponent. Un-empowered strikes typically combo into one another with ease, attacking at least three times for roughly 3-4% per hit before ending the combo.
Crouching Sweep: [Medium, 9%]
A personal favorite, Harmless quickly sweeps a leg at an opponent's ankles to catch them off-guard. If the target takes damage, the move has a chance to inflict the Knockdown status on the opponent. (The move will only inflict Knockdown if Crouching Sweep is the last damaging move Harmless used against the target.) The move cannot hit targets that are levitating or actively flying. [2 Turn Cooldown]
--
Knockdown: To check if Knockdown applies, the target rolls a d20 DEX check against the attacker's attack roll. If the roll ties or fails, the target is knocked off their feet, resulting in Knockdown being applied. The knocked down individual must spend an action getting up, and must make a 1d2 Mixup roll at the end of their turn. (Once this is done, Knockdown is removed from the target.)
Next turn, Knockdown is removed, and the attacker gets to make a 1d2 Mixup roll. If their Mixup roll matches the roll the defender made last turn, their first attack automatically hits. (Knockdown cannot be applied again as a result of the Mixup roll guaranteeing an attack hitting. This is to prevent repeated Knockdown loops.)
--
Lancer One-Two: [Heavy, 24% Total]
Nicknamed as such for the straightforward, thrust-like punches, Harmless throws two incredibly powerful, aura-boosted lunges at a single target. Albeit incredibly strong and devastating, the recoil on the move leaves Harmless open for much longer than her other moves.
When using the move, Harmless gains a +2 to hit if the opponent has a lower DEX stat than her. After using the move, Harmless receives a -3 Dodge penalty from all incoming attacks on her next turn.
Special Attacks (3)
Editor's note: Not all Special Attacks use reserves of Harmless's Aura. Aura consumption is provided as a % of the overall containment, which is restored slowly (6% per Player post) during strenuous activity and quickly (Fully restored) over longer breaks/proper rests.
Aura Ball: [Special, 12%]
The first attack Harmless learned to use by concentrating a spherical mass of Aura and launching it in a desired direction. For a comparison, travels much faster than the average Hadouken, but not much further. The quicker speed has a notable upside and downside: While the projectile will hit its target earlier than they may expect, making it a potent anti-air option, it is not nearly as safe when blocked. Harmless is in even bigger trouble if the target dodged or reflected the attack! [0 Turn Cooldown, 10% Aura Consumption]
Aura Barrier: [Special, 0%]
Swiping her hand across a desired direction results in creating a four-foot tall, six foot wide, two inch thick, floating, orange/silver barrier. It floats a fixed distance in front of Harmless, two inches above the ground.
While the Barrier is active, it has 25 HP, and will soak up damage directed towards Harmless. The barrier cannot receive status ailments. Harmless may fire an Aura Ball through it while it's active, amplifying Aura Ball's damage and causing the projectile to becoming homing. Doing so consumes the Barrier in the process, but it results in 2.5x damage, and gains a +2 to hit. [2 Turn Cooldown after Barrier expires, 35% Aura Consumption]
Windmill Toss: [Special Grapple + Attack, 18% Total]
When the opponent is within striking range, Harmless may opt to grapple her opponent with a Grapple check. Succeeding results in her opponent being swept off their feet, swung around in her arms in a full loop before she jumps high into the air and slams them onto the ground!
Windmill Toss gains a +2 to hit when the opponent failed to damage Harmless on their turn. Alternatively, it has -2 to hit when the opponent has damaged Harmless with an attacking move on their turn. She cannot use this technique against opponents suffering from the Knockdown status. [0 Turn Cooldown, no Aura Consumption, 2 Actions]
Final Smash (1)
Aura Shatterboom: [Special, 28%] Kicking her Aura into overdrive and exceeding her limits, Harmless's eyes begin to glow a bright orange as she massively empowers her hands with dangerous levels of Aura. After a brief windup, she claps her hands together in front of her with impeccable force, resulting in a massive shockwave of Aura that hits all foes within the same vicinity. The final smash pushes back all opponents and entities with incredible force, almost guaranteeing at least 20 meters of free space around her when used. In addition, the resulting overclocked Aura is normalized, restoring her Aura capacity back to a full 100%.
Other Info: Small details about Harmless's former life, friendships, self thoughts, and other miscellaneous info will be explored as time passes. For now, have a general overview at her personality and morals:
Harmless is generally friendly and happy-go-lucky, whenever the mood calls for it at least. Her mood can easily swing with whatever situation is presented in front of her, especially if it is one she is unfamiliar with. Her general social skills are present, though could use a bit of refinement in some spots, as she tends to falter when sharing personal perspectives or weak opinions about topics.
Being good-hearted by nature, Harmless likes to go with whatever makes sense to her. Her common sense can be lacking sometimes, but she learns fairly quickly, opting to fix her mistakes rather than prevent them in the first place. Although this learning process has lead to disheartening results in some instances, she never let herself get down. She values the perspectives of friends and strangers alike, being open for knowledge and constantly attempting to get a grasp on the unfamiliar.
Her Aura recovery rate is 6% per post by her player.
