Arrow Rinehart

Shadow stood on the left side of the stadium, silently waiting for the opossum scheduled to appear at any moment. Sparkster seem rather interested in having a battle with Shadow, so of course the hedgehog was more than happy to oblige. The Ultimate Life Form had been accepting any challenge he could see how strong everyone was. He wasn’t at all interested in giving up his title. He was still the Ultimate Life Form whether he won or lost a fight, and no one could talk him out of that fact.

But, the fact still remained, he wasn’t going to underestimate any foe any more. ...As far as he knew of course. There were still some exceptions.

There weren’t many people watching as Shadow didn’t really make a spectacle of it. Wasn’t really his style. Despite his title, he never really fought for attention or any of the sort. Rather he fought to prove himself, and perhaps get stronger. Whether improving his strength was even possible or not, Shadow couldn’t tell. But seeing as there were those stronger than himself, he hoped the fact was true.

The hedgehog could see some people leaving as Shadow wasn’t interested in giving them a show before the opponent showed up. He didn’t care. He wasn’t interested in them. He was interested in his opponent… that’s all.

As if on theme, the Rocket Knight came boosting out of the open space, boosting around the side of the arena in brief. While he'd held both fists out before him, the gauntlet clad opossum waved and saluted to the people onlooking. While he was not one to know if he had any charm, he certainly was going to just greet them all with his waves. "Good Day to you all, thank you for coming out!" unaware of many of the rules, including the appeal, he'd come for his match with Shadow. The one thing that had drawn him here, was learning of the Ultimate Lifeform's skills through word, and spending a bit of time in his presence. Still as he hovered about the ground momentarily, he'd landed around 20 feet from his opponent and waved at him with a big smile, a little gesture of a shoulder bow given to him in request.

"Good Day to you Shadow! I thank you for the opportunity to face you today, allow me to show my gratitude by giving you the best match that I can muster." eager as he was, he knew that battle was something that could go up and down, they'd have a set number of rounds to determine a victor and he'd be sure to try his best. In that stead, he stood tall, fists curling strong as he reached up and grabbed the base of his beloved partner and drew it from its sheath. The Emblem Blade was a sword that had a great history, wielded by his foster father before him; it helped him save the Kingdom of Zephyrus no less than three times, would it fair as well against Shadow and his powers? He'd only ever heard of them in passing, but was now putting that to the test against his skills.

After a few test swings with his blade, he'd gotten a feeling for it and granted a second salute to Shadow, a sword raised before him and a small head nod, before he directed the sword back to its sheath. Though his hand remained upon it, no doubt this was some trade of the Elhorn swordplay trade. He'd offered the crowd a very small part of the swordplay and not a combination of his jetpack in action with it...yet. The battle would leave plenty of time for him to show that off, he imagined.

Shadow opened one of his eyes, glancing at his opponent before smirking at him. "Bout time you decided to show up." He stated simply in his same Shadow fashion. He didn't actually mind waiting, but Sparkster didn't have to know that. He dropped the smirk before giving Sparkster a serious expression. "You sure you're up for this? You won't win without knowing what you're up against."

Honestly, Shadow, would he be here if he wasn't one hundred percent certain?

Good point, but I've fought people who made the same mistake before.

Fair enough.

"Well," Shadow clenched his fists tight, pulling both of them back, as he allowed a similar smirk to return to his face. "Ready or not, here I come." With that, Shadow rolled into a ball and dashed right at the marsupial at full speed. Sparkster may have seen Shadow's speed, but this was the first time the opossum was actually facing it.

The results were... not bad. The first attempt wasn't that great, but it seemed to improve the more he dashed at the knight. The hedgehog didn't unroll, however. Instead, while still rolled into a ball, he bounced up into the air, and launched himself at Sparkster in a Homing Attack.

p_1d20+3 (Shadow used Homing Attack! His DEX Stat allows for a +3 in each roll. Should this attack make its mark, it'll cause 12% damage. On top of that, the next attack used after Homing attack will have a +1 increase in its roll.)

And a pretty solid one, too. "Getting tired yet?" Shadow asked after unrolling from the ball he formed and leaned one of his feet backwards, speaking as if he'd known for a fact that he hit Sparkster, even if he didn't. "Well, snap out of it, because I'm not finished yet." With that, Shadow ran to the opponent at full speed, a yellow streak following him as he ran toward Sparkster at the speed of sound.

Once that was done, Shadow skidded to a halt before facing Sparkster, folding his arms over his chest as he did so. He stood quietly, paying the audience zero mind.

"Yes, let's make a bit of a show of this!" though eager he'd had no real certainty that he'd be doing so well in this match up. Not that it really mattered, he was pumped and his heart was already beating quickly and his eyes honed in on Shadow. Here it went, it would be a test of strength, speed, wits, and just pure ability!

Well this question ran through his mind there was an  exact question to be met, was he truly prepared for such speed? He'd watched Shadow move, well what of it that he could at least, his hand rose and he'd intended to try his best to block an incoming strike with the flat of his blade. At least that was what he tried to do, just how fast was his friend? Well quick enough that the blurred form was something he could only hope his training allowed him to stick and move against. 

oLBQHnYCp_1d20+1 The first attack was actually one he followed, he'd sidestepped it and managed to avoid the strike aimed for him, though he tried to stand ready, his footing was a little bit. "Whoa..!"


p_1d20+1"Oof!" a backwards stumble from the first connecting blow sent him into a stagger a moment, but his keened in on the blur coming in for yet another strike!


p_1d20+1There was no better luck with dodging the second, he'd been pelted twice by powerful, staggering blows that forced him backwards. Though as the knight had been hit by increasingly hard strikes, these had forced him to lost his footing. Though he was not yet tired, instead he raised his blade again, showing a stamina to match being pummeled by foes many times bigger (not that it made the strikes hurt any less!), he'd not be done so easy.


p_1d20+1He had enough time to see it coming, but even the attempt at readiness was too slow, another shot sent him into a backwards stagger. He really not feeling very good about his chances so far, but he was not going to be intimidated this easily. Aside from yet another grunt, he did not utter much of a sound, his focus made him a different person completely.


p_1d20+1While it was no opening, he'd finally dodged something again, a quick boost from his jetpack sent him into a brief sidestep, just finally capable of showing off some of his watchful eye. He wasn't used to the speed yet, but after getting smacked up by these attacks so consistently in a row, it seemed that a tiny bit of fortune found him.

Having learned a valuable thing from the attacks that had been aimed upon him, suffering some blows had already caused a grin to awaken across his face, as he brushed some dirt from his armor. "Oh boy, you sure do know a thing or two about being impressive...good shots! Allow me to reply!"

The Rocket knight took flight, boosting forward with his Emblem Blade held forward, and with that first burst, he aimed to see if he'd strike true with an intended surprise for Shadow, with the aims of striking him with a surprise maneuver.

p_1d20+2  Elhorn Swordplay [STR DMG 7% Combo- First Strike]- Sparkster struck with all of the skill within his blade hand, a whip of the blade down in an adjacent sweep, with a small yell accompanying the first of the assault's attempt on the hedgehog, he followed up with the next blow quickly. 

p_1d20+2Elhorn Swordplay [STR DMG 7% Combo- Second Strike]- The following swipe was a horizontal one aimed around waist level on Shadow, a follow-up strike that had a bit of a sloppy and speedy attempt to keep the attack going. He was a bit eager perhaps? It was going to show in his attempts at something of an assault.

p_1d20+2 Elhorn Swordplay [STR DMG 7% Combo- Third Strike]- The final of these slashes had been a rising one aimed adjacently across Shadow's chest, with the blade giving a fresh amount of force behind the strike, the final of the flurry had been ended gracefully with a spin that ended on a moment perfect boost in reverse. Even though this did not mark the end of the assault, in fact that was just the opener.

"You are indeed, one heck of an opponent, I can only show my joy! I haven't ever had anyone to truly test my mettle against who was not friendly!"  odd word choice perhaps, but here Sparkster was, smiling wide with a strange sense of joy, even as his Emblem Blade gained a bright glimmer to it, something of a strange orange-blue hue that followed suit on the retreat of Sparkster and was whipped down hard in Shadow's direction. 


p_1d20+1Burst Shot [DMG 26%] [1 Post cooldown]- The signature attack of the Emblem Blade was again released in some haste, while it was a bit sloppy in release, Sparkster was not disappointed in how this was going, oh no, in the spirit of a good match. One could only do what they were capable of, in fact, it blossomed into a small playful grin on his face.

That look was not one of someone who was trying to completely crush their foe, but rather one feeling spirited, a great sense of kinship through passing off blows. He couldn't be sure that this was shared with Shadow, but regardless even if it was one-sided, he felt this rather fun, enjoyable bond with the Ultimate Lifeform through his attacks.

p_1d20+2Burst Beam [DMG 14%, 40% Chance of Burn if it hits!]- Therein the energy of Sparkster's second long range attack was still a little rough around the edges, if anything it was an attempt to show his heart through his attacks. But while he was certainly in the right place mentally, he might have been a touch lax with his control. This way of fighting could be haphazard, but seemed to be integral to Sparkster's very person as a whole.

p_1d20 (Roll for appeal!) After landing from his last attack, there was a momentary boost from his jetpack in order to help him find a landing and stikc it comfortably. He did happen to pay the crowd a genuine smile and a wave of his hand, doing his best to show that he hoped they too, were enjoying this as much as he had been so far! Though it seemed they were ambivalent to him, neutral towards his new face, that was something that didn't matter, they were here for battle and not for a wave it seemed.


Even though eyes soon honed in on the Ultimate Hedgehog within a few moments after addressing the crowd. "I cannot say that I may win, Shadow. But I do hope to show you some of the spirit of the Elhorn Rocket Knights through my blade." the words spoken in humility, with a bit of grace that followed his physical elegance upon landing, he hadn't removed his eyes from Shadow. But still, raised his sword before his face, blade edge towards his face before lowering it in a salute manner, before taking something of a readied stance once more.

Shadow was pleased at the results of his attacks. Some people found the need to underestimate him just because they're not convinced he can back up what he claims. Hopefully this was proof to them that he wasn't fooling around.

Not that Sparkster was one of them. Quite the contrary, it seemed. But it made Shadow wonder what the marsupial's strategy even was. Was he trying to get Shadow to let his guard down by buttering him up? Cause if that was the cause, it wasn't really working.

Or was it?

It seemed Shadow was "celebrating" a little too soon as the marsupial tried to slash at Shadow with his sword. Shadow made an effort to try to avoid the attacks.

HAWduG7Yp_1d20+1 (Shadow's attempt to dodge Sparkster's attack. Thanks to his fail on his Dash attack, his dodge roll, which is normally a +3, is lowered by -2, which makes the roll a +1. Lucky for Shadow, he was still just fast enough to barely dodge the attack.)

Due to his lack of recouping from his Dash attack, Shadow was barely able to duck from the first swipe by leaning backward, though the sword was just centimeters away from his face as he did so. He was only slightly luckier as the hedgehog was barely able to sidestep from the swipe. The same couldn't be said for the last strike. Sparkster's final attempt was so precise, it caused the hedgehog to yelp as the sword swiped at his chest. Shadow squinted one of his eyes shut, but he wasn't going to be down so easy.

Shadow couldn't help but smirk at Sparkster's comment. "You're not so bad yourself." Not one to dwindle on words, Shadow simply left it at that as he noticed the sword in Sparkster's hand suddenly changing. The hedgehog's confidence only ascended from there. He felt like he may have been right about the opossum's strategy.

Lucky for Shadow, it wouldn't really work as well this time around. Shadow made an effort to wait for the attack to present itself...

Shadow jumped backward away from the attack, a seamless and perfect dodge! Once that was done, Shadow landed firmly on his two feet, keeping a firm eye on the marsupial.

Shadow jumped up as the beam opened fire at the hedgehog. He then started his jet shoes, landed on the beam and ran toward the Opossum with the same yellow aura surrounding him as before. It seemed as though Sparkster's attack was being used against him somehow, because Shadow seemed to be more precise this time around, but the hedgehog was more or less just showing off here.

Next, Shadow jumped into the air and swiped his hand across from in front of him, sending three lightning bolts in Sparkster's direction after calling out, "Chaos... Spear!"

p_1d20+3 (Shadow used Chaos Spear! His WIS stat allows for a +3 in each roll. Should this attack make contact, it'll cause 3% damage initially, but it will also inflict the opponent with a Speared status. This will allow Shadow to use the Spear Pulled technique, which will cause an additional 5% damage every Spear Pulled is initiated. Speared can stack the damage of Spear Pulled. Spear Pulled can be avoided via CON stat.)

Once that was done, Shadow rolled into a ball before descending directly toward Sparkster, aiming another Homing Attack at his opponent. He would attempt to bounce off of Sparkster's head and land on the other side, but would end up on the other side of Sparkster regardless.

Shadow straightened himself out and the smirk on his face didn't seem to waver. He didn't know what it was, but he felt like he was actually having fun in this fight. It wasn't as enjoyable as his fights with Sonic, but he quite liked fighting this Sparkster person. Those last two attacks, even though they were dodged quite easily, still seemed rather powerful. The hedgehog would have to make sure to avoid attacks like that, because if he was hit by them, it would've done quite a number on him.

p_1d20-1 (Shadow's appeal... Not much better than last time, but I guess they have to acknowledge that Shadow's doing pretty well.)

There seemed to be a couple cheers for Shadow, though they still seemed more eager for Sparkster to win. Not that they were too happy either way. Shadow didn't give two spits, but it seemed like the crowd was just in a bad mood today.

There was a good term for it as he had the first exchange at least score a blow, certainly he was hoping for more luck, but now it was just going to be a matter of a test on his end. The jetpack was active, but now it was going to be up to those sharp eyes of his to watch. He hoped to keep himself safe, but also had no illusions about the odds of failure being present. It was the fact that Shadow was that was fast that made even more entertaining, as the opossum had never met anyone faster than himself before coming across the Ultimate Lifeform. 


7HQA7rfMp_1d20+1 A bear attempt at trying to dodge, though he was certainly aware of the attack, he'd boosted back in an attempt to dodge, and nearly succeeded! But still, he was clipped by it and sent backwards, with an attempt to regain his balance after that first connecting shot. That Dash attack was quite the doozie to get clipped by!

p_1d20-1The fact that he'd been hit first by the swift blow only caused him to open up his guard, he had not expected something of a bolt attack, an energy strike that found its mark upon him and forced him into a responsive stance, or the best of one that he could manage.

p_1d20+2Though for one reason or another, he did avoid the influence of the Spear Pull at that second instance, he couldn't be sure of the how or what, but only that he was still presently stuck to the spot. Though his focus on the attempt to repeat whatever he had, was certainly a thing of fortune.

p_1d20+2"Ngh!" a bit of a grunt at the foreign display of pain running through him on that second strike, he'd let his will not be shaken, as the next pang of the jolt seemed to bring him around to getting his act together. Certainly, he had a moment to prepare for the next attack from the speedy hedgehog. There was a challenge in facing such foreign powers and part of him simply was thrilled by it, he didn't want anything less than to embrace what he'd come here. 

As a true knight was bound to dedicate themselves to anything, this battle helped something blossom within him, even if just the pain of experience when confronting new and unique abilities! 


p_1d20+2It was another connecting shot, there was just no luck on that side of avoiding a hit. After the shock had shaken him up, he'd ended up getting banged up through another round of them. But he was still pretty hardy, it was just how the marsupial was built. After all he knew best the only way to save a kingdom was taking some lumps. 

"Quite the fierce foray you've unleashed upon me, but it only increases my fervor for this contest!" If anything he had going for him, it was a nice, tenacious spirit that backed his choice in combat, either way he did not let the poor defense stop him. He rose completely, and after dusting his knees off, he'd actually looked up and headed straight into an attack.

With sword pointed out ahead of him, the jetpack's unique hum sounded off as he brought the sword forward in another thrust of close range strikes. He'd known it was his best bet against the hedgehog, so now it was a matter of seeing about getting one of these blows off against him if possible. "Ha!" the first blow launched at the black hedgehog with an opening slash!



p_1d20+2Elhorn Swordplay: [STR DMG 7% Combo- First Strike]- An angled slash coming in quickly with his first rush attack, though swift it too was a bit rough given the shock of pain still running through him, he was mustering speed and strength, but lacking his usual technique.


p_1d20+2Elhorn Swordplay: [STR DMG 7% Combo- Second Strike]- Sloppier than even the first strike an attempt at a backhand slash shifted upward again, as he used the swiftest angle for cutting. This was not a flailed strike, but anyone could tell it was made with more haste than it should have been.


p_1d20+2 Elhorn Swordplay: [STR DMG 7% Combo- Third Strike]- Apparently finding some tiny semblance of recovery after the near wild swing upward, he brought his sword down hard, aimed for Shadow's shoulder to see if he could catch the hedgehog with one of these slashes, he'd seem about this of course.


p_1d20+2Burst Vortex:  [DMG 32%, 7% recoil]- Having gotten his act together considerably since that swordplay attempt was nearly disastrous, he launched into a full charged, boost strike at this range. At the range he was, the aim seemed to be true as he broke out into a corkscrew rush with his sword angled for Shadow's torso. It was one move so fast that as he bounced off of the wall and angled himself right back towards Shadow for one last attack. 


p_1d20+2Flip kick: [DMG 16%]- At the last possible minute, the opossum knight tries to be fancy in his own right, attempting a flip kick to spring off of the hedgehog's side or torso with the aim. Something that he couldn't be sure would find its hit, rather he seemed prepared to accept the miss and find a landing some feet back from contending companion. 

p_1d20Another brief wave offered to the crowd and even though he'd been the one almost solely subject to the beating, he was content still to stand tall and proud, otherwise not much worse for the wear, he'd taken worse blows  in the past. Though it did not take away the fact that he was hurting, only that his pain threshold had him standing firmly and tall. He wasn't showing off any winces just yet as it appeared to be. The crowd had not cared and Sparkster did not either, he simply addressed Shadow and with some well earned respect from his opponent. 

"Another exchange and all I can say is that there is no doubt why I am taking the lumps during our passes. It has already proven to be worthy of surpassing any expectation I've had, this is truly a thrill in itself. Let's continue!" with nothing but good will at this point, he couldn't help but break out in a fresh smile, he was still in the way of showing great spirit despite being the one on the losing side of this. Honestly it just made it more exciting, it wasn't too the death, perhaps that was part of what brought his elation? It was a genuine contest, something that he'd always hoped to have back home and simply never could.

Shadow the hedgehog was quite pleased with himself and his progress. Spark started off rather sturdy, but was currently starting to struggle under the pressure Shadow was pushing.

However, Spark was far from done as he swiped his sword at Shadow’s direction, causing the hedgehog to jump backward, just barely missing the hedgehog in the first swipe. The second one wasn’t even nearly on mark as he dashed to one side. While the last one was better, it still wasn’t quite there as Shadow leapt over the opossum, his ego increasing with each dodge.

Of course, as always, the pride goes before the fall as the opossum made his next attack as Shadow was mid air. The hedgehog tried to use his jet shoes to push himself out of the way, but ended up just centering himself for the attack to hit his torso. The hedgehog grunted as the attack made its bullseye, causing the hedgehog to flip backward and tumble across the arena.

The hedgehog’s eyes sealed shut as he shook his head before glancing up just in time to see the opossum try to kick him in the torso again, but this time he was ready.

Shadow managed to jump clear out of range of the kick before spreading his stance out and forming a smirk on his face again. Now it was his turn to retaliate, and boy did he have a retaliation up his sleeve!

The hedgehog vanished in blue and made an attempt to dash at Spark three times. None of these attempts were particularly spectacular, in fact the second one was the only one of the three that wasn’t mediocre.

Still, the hedgehog had more than that to go off of and started skating toward his foe again at full speed. Shadow’s dash attack seemed to be a recurring attack in this battle, but the more he could trip up Spark, he felt, the more progress he could make in winning this fight.

Finally, after such a spectacular attack, Shadow finished it off with… a terrible Homing Attack. Goodness, it would have been a miracle if Spark was actually hit by that attack and not anything else. Shadow was almost ashamed to even acknowledge that attempt as his own, but oh well. He had to end this retaliation somewhere, and at least his Dash attack (hopefully) didn’t let him down.

Defensive Phase

If anything, he was finding something filling within his body as he braced himself for reaction. This was the brilliance of someone coming to light, this was the assault of the Ultimate Lifeform on him. His eyes sharpened and focused on each of the attacking moment building up within him. He'd felt an excited tinge take to him, as once more he was preparing to try and dodge Shadow on each the upcoming attempts. It was time for him to see just how he was going to manage it, while muscles tensed, he bent his knees and prepared at this degree. 

uzrTFDfRp_1d20+2A skillful dodge employed on his part, as the opossum moved himself to the side of the attack just barely, though finally he was able to feel Shadow's movement somewhat! He was getting excited for his ability to avoid even one attack with some modicum of success. Though he was a little off balance, his eyes followed the Ultimate Lifeform's direction, as though he wasn't entirely a match for the speed, he was used to high speed movement.

p_1d20+2 Though able to follow with the movement of his opponent, his reaction was somewhat on point. Shadow struck him on point, though the sturdy knight absorbed the shock and rolled with the attack. It was in this way that while he could not escape that he'd taken damage, his pain threshold and focus allowed him to prepare to step true on his next movement.

p_1d20+2 On that final of Shadow's Dash was dodged handily by the knight who boosted at the right moment to evade the strike. Even though this did not account for his present standing. He was focused and using the moment he had to study Shadow's movements between his boosts. Even if he could not predict him, he could use the techniques in his own boosted motions, in a way it was the more practical mind of his at work enjoying every success of Shadow's against him during this contest.

p_1d20+2 A sentiment that was something carried into the spectacularly aimed strike, as despite being prepared to move and even trying to move away. An insufficient amount of boost being used had still earned Sparkster another momentary failure of dodging. He was certainly soaking up a lot of punishment, but either through tenacity or spirit alone, he was still grinning even after the force of the blow sent him down. He rolled quickly along the ground and tumbled twice before rising again, turning to meet Shadow's gaze with a smile that was fresh in his eyes. "A splendid strike! It seems that though I learn from your offensive actions, I am still taking quite the beating."  naturally there was nothing less than admiration in the admittance.

p_1d20Though that last attack of Shadow's ended up still hitting its target, as something about the prior attack just through him off. Though he was prepared to make each step count, his eyes were somewhat adjusted to the pace of his movement, nothing could help the lag between mind and movement. But damage taken or no, It seemed that he was preparing himself for an offensive of his own now, and despite the onset of fresh ache running through his body, he was still pumped up for this. As if he were born for this act coming, he felt ready and had hopes for his own successes. But that was up to the dictating surge that came to him during his assault tactics.

Offensive Phase

Finally along the means within his body as he let his fingers gripping firmly as he'd grinned a moment at this point.  Of course, this thing had become something that had blossomed  of the moment. With that boost gathered during his last moment as he dug his boots into the ground, prior to looking ahead of himself and his mind shouted to him 'Attack now'. The timing was perfect and even before the sounds of the arena itself it was quiet for a moment, he'd boosted forward and rushed with his blade forward before him.

He'd trusted in the one thing that had been revealing some of Shadow's finesse with dodging, so with this he thrust the weapon towards the hedgehog with the angle of his attacks. Tally Ho!


p_1d20+2 Elhorn Swordplay: [STR DMG 7% Combo- First Strike] Striking true with an aim of his strike, the first blade was brought down adjacently, with the sharp look in his eyes. He'd felt the cut was one aimed true, and while he brought it down towards the Ultimate Hedgehog, he'd made aim in the assault.

p_1d20+2Elhorn Swordplay: [STR DMG 7% Combo- Second Strike] A second strike brought across horizontally followed his action, with even more grace than his first strike. Finally he was picking up some steam with his swings and finding confidence backing another swing.


p_1d20+2Elhorn Swordplay: [STR DMG 7% Combo- Third Strike] But that clumsy foot of the knight had him stumble over his tail, he'd stepped to the right before he allowed that momentum to carrying him forward into his final action. Despite the last of the slashes being so sloppy, it set him up for something that he felt might be beautiful. As it was imagination that drove his very actions to be so true.


p_1d20+2 Burst Drill: [22% DMG) As soon as he fell low in the angle of his aim, the jetpack boosted to life and sent him into surging spiral. Goggles falling over his eyes as at this close range, he rushed forward in a brilliant shimmer of blue and yellow flames as he hoped to aim true!


p_1d20+2 None the less here, he'd found himself trying to be fancy once again, though coming down with the aim of his blade in Shadow's direction. The haphazard aim of his guided the bolt in Shadow's direction, but he'd be stunned if it found its target. It was very poorly aimed after all. He'd held the intent, but his clumsiness emerged once more in battle. He knew he couldn't escape it, but it was one thing that he'd always wanted to keep better control of in battle.


p_1d20  There was something about the kind of attack, he'd found himself striking an appeal, was there something biting the crowd? He had no words for it! He'd waved after the last movement away from Shadow, it had been a spiraling motion while he smiled widely at the crowd. It seemed some of that charisma that he wasn't sure he had was getting somewhere? He was overjoyed to hear some real cheers from the crowd! "O-Oh, thank you all!" finally the knight felt like he was doing his part for their onlookers!

This time around, Shadow didn't have trouble dodging most of Spark's attacks. It seemed to be a running theme in this fight, actually. Shadow's speed seemed to overwhelm Spark quite a bit. Hitting Shadow had been a difficult thing to do for the most part. Every now and then Spark would get lucky, but Shadow didn't lose on luck alone.

Shadow easily dodged each swipe of the sword, with his eyes shut (just to show off). He stepped to the side as Spark tried to swipe down at him, jumped over the second, and jumped away from the third. Those were all too easy!

However, Shadow grunted as he was once again impacted by the burst drill, skidding on his feet backward as one of his eyes were clamped shut. Still, the hedgehog was far from finished, and was clearly still much better off than Spark was, the smirk still plain as day on his face.

Finally, Shadow merely stepped to the side to avoid the final slash, causing Spark to miss the finale of his assault. It was now Shadow's turn to show what he was truly made of. If Spark thought he had Shadow figured out, he was sadly mistaken. It would take more than this fight to know Shadow, truly.

Shadow’s smirk widened. It seemed as though the Opossum was having a hard time against Shadow’s skill, so it wasn’t hard to assume that the hedgehog was starting to get cocky. That didn’t mean he wasn’t taking this seriously, but Shadow was certain that Spark wasn’t going to last much longer. This meant that the hedgehog had the opportunity to show Spark exactly what he was made of. “Spark,” Shadow’s smirk grew a bit. “I’m impressed at your capability of keeping up the fight for this long…”

Shadow clenched his fists and pulled both of them back. “But I think it’s the start of the end of the fight. Time to show you my true power!” Shadow let out a roar as a red aura began surrounding him, a boost that could be felt even by the audience, so one could only wonder how Spark felt. Shadow flashed one more smirk before running to Spark, purple energy forming in his hands. Though it may not have appeared that way, Shadow was distorting time and space in his hands, ready to unleash a powerful attack on Spark.

p_1d20+3 (Shadow used Chaos Boost! It's a non-damaging move that uses the WIS stat, so each roll is raised by +3. This move allows his next WIS roll to increase by +3 and the damage increases by 7%. However, it also increases any recoil damage by 2% of damage points, and it has a 3 post cool down. Shadow will also lose 1 action in the next turn.)

The Chaos Boost seemed to have intensified this attack even further, allowing the darkish purple attack to be mixed with red. “This is the Ultimate Power!” Shadow shouted. “Chaos…. Nightmare!” Shadow unleashed the power by folding his arms over his face and pulling both arms back unleashing his power. A wave of energy blew around the stadium, causing Shadow’s quills to be blown by the energy. Shadow let out a little pant, but he was still eager to keep going.

p_1d20+7 (Shadow used Chaos Nightmare! Because of his WIS stat, his previous Homing Attack, and Chaos Boost, Shadow received a +7 in each roll! Should this attack make contact, it'll cause 25% of damage with a 5% recoil. However, thanks to Chaos Boost, it'll cause 32% damage with a 7% recoil. It has a cool down of 1 turn.)

Next, Shadow rolled up into a ball and dashed toward spark like a wheel, intending to cause even more damage than he already had. Shadow aimed for the knight’s legs, hoping to make a point with each attack. The hedgehog finally ended his assault, panting at the end of it. It had been quite a while since he put that much effort into his attack.

Defensive Phase

There he was still standing on two feet, somehow the knight had made it this far into the match and had still shown nothing but the stalwart spirit. Even before the billowing pressure, whereas he should have been scared or at least shown some sense? There was nothing but burning blood inside of him, not a cry for revenge over the lumps he'd taken or even a wish to strike back. More now to watch and witness, his own thoughts on the chances of winning? Were actually not really high on his mind, he was an optimist in moderation and examined everything carefully. It was strongly against him, yet that was a knight's duty, the desire to fight against adversity and it left him here eager to see more of what the Ultimate Lifeform had in store for him.  


9nUd3VrYp_1d20+2 Even before the Dark wind, he felt and both saw blasting before his eyes, something that was more a living metaphor, as the first strike came, he'd been hit critically. Something that had likely torn the earth asunder before the strike, at least it toppled him with ease and sent him into some degree of a wrangling ping pong ball in effect. He was airborne, a place that he'd been often, though under his own control.
p_1d20+2 It was during the first of the attacks that instincts saved him a single moment strike, though only short lived in its nature, he'd felt something was honing during the match.
p_1d20+2 Though the instinct was short-lived even as the next speedier than the last blow hit him, his eyes remained closed. The force again sending him off in another direction, one that set him up for the final of the strikes.
p_1d20+2 Landing that last blow planted the former flying knight to the ground, the marsupial should have been dazed, even perhaps was? But if it were the case, he showed little signs of it.

Offensive Phase

Both upon rising from the ground, with a sign of the physical damage wearing upon him, armor or no, he was bleeding from a few places upon his form. One from his lip, another to the side of the right eye, but he did not seem to mind it. As despite as pain this grit and torment of each blow had torn into him, he was left with a determined smile upon his face. Hand briefly shaking before a hand gripped at the side of sword hilt, as the Emblem Blade had always been returned to its sheath upon the completion of a swing. His eyes now resting on Shadow as used his gloved gauntlet to wipe the blood from under the eye and away from the side of his mouth before speaking. 

"Never have I been so thoroughly thrashed, while in the face of this bout leaving me less and less with the grasp of victory. I don't find myself minding it one bit, quite the contrary! I'm having the time of my life, in spite of it all and I have you to thank for it! In every great lesson there is two that shall come, and I believe I'll take the greatest pair of lessons from this. Regardless of this outcome Shadow, I shall look fondly upon my first bout in the Stadium as a fortuitous one!" more words of admiration, spoken in only the most earnest means. There was little more that he could think to say before he began his counterattack.


Somehow he was still standing and was going to put everything into his next attempt: the fates were not so kind to his attempts, but he could have cared less! The spirit of battle carrying on as he began once again with a trademark that Shadow had seen several times now. The sword hilt was gripped tightly as the blade was drawn as lightning speeds!

p_1d20+2 Flip Kick [16% DMG if it hits!]- Starting off with a forward variant of the usual back flip kick attempt, he swept both heels forward overhead, using a natural balance as he open up for his follow up attack.

p_1d20+2 Elhorn Swordplay: [STR DMG 7% Combo- First Strike] With beautiful execution of the first sword slash, the blade singing from its sheath as he brought it down overhead in a fluid motion. It was whipped in Shadow's direction with surprising accuracy.

p_1d20+2 Elhorn Swordplay: [STR DMG 7% Combo- Second Strike] Much to follow up its first swing, the second one held even more grace than the first. Without losing any strength, that sword strike was brought from the ground level in a rising back swing, with that blade tip swept in the Black hedgehog's direction with the intent to bite into the super strong fellow! 

p_1d20+2 Elhorn Swordplay: [STR DMG 7% Combo- Third Strike] However well Sparkster managed the first two swings, his third was full of his usual vigor and clumsiness to boot! Even though he wasted no time in lowering his stance for his coup de grace of a move. As he counted on this next being his actual last attack that he'd get off for the round. Those feet planted firmly while he dug in and held fast for just the last of the charge, it was about that time to take flight.  

p_1d20+2 Burst Vortex: [32%, 7% Recoil] The most explosive of the maneuvers came in a fast rush of his sword coming forth in the show of a full on blaze of light, with the heat burning from the jetpack as the blinding speeds pushed him into a violent array of an assault. With the speed sent into motion of a spiraling opossum with his blade held fast before him. There was both the heat of determination of the tenacity of a brave and often clumsy knight giving it his all!

p_1d20 But it seemed that the crowd was simply not impressed with it nor his speech, though he didn't care. He was in it for the sportsmanship and of course the Knight's duty to see anything  to its end, Win or Lose!

Shadow’s smirk retained his confidence as the knight managed to stand up despite the beating he received from the hedgehog. This fight has proven to be both challenging and a thrill for the Ultimate Life Form, and that was no complement that Spark should squander. You know, if Shadow were to ever say that out loud, which he probably wouldn’t. Shadow’s confidence in his victory may have been too soon because the fact that Spark didn’t black out from Chaos Nightmare alone meant that Shadow was in for a wallop.

And a wallop he was in for…

Shadow easily dodged the first attack once again, leaping backward away from the kick, but then the hedgehog was hit in the head by the sword, and then hit again on the side. Shadow managed to jump over the last one, squinting one eye shut as he tried to gather his breathing.

However, the knight knew better than to give Shadow that chance, and drilled into Shadow at full force, knocking the hedgehog at full force. Shadow grunted as he skidded to a halt, panting as he smirked at the knight. “Not bad…” he sighed, wiping some sweat away as he managed to straighten himself out, allowing a blue energy to envelop him. “But not good enough…”

Shadow vanished and attempted to attack the Opossum at the speed of light. The first Chaos Snap attack was horrible, but the second one was almost on point. The third one… well it was almost as bad as the first, but not quite.

p_1d20+3 (Shadow used Dash! Shadow's DEX stat allows for a +3 in each roll! Should this attack make contact, not only will it cause 15% damage, but it'll lower Spark's next dodge roll by -2 (You know, if it didn't know him out somehow). If Shadow misses, his next dodge will lower instead.)

Shadow, unable to do much more thanks to the previous Chaos Boost, finished his assault with a decently aimed Dash attack, running at full speed nearly breaking the sound barrier. Shadow was planning to finish Sparks off with a boom, but that all depended on how well Spark would retaliate.

Shadow ended up on the other side of the arena, holding out a clenched fist as he must’ve tried to punch the marsupial in the face. Now for the result of all of Shadow’s effort… would Sparks still be standing, or had Shadow just one the fight?

p_1d20-1 (The crowd seems to be speechless... No one dare say a word as they anticipate what Spark will do. An audience that started out disinterested in Shadow seemed to have been won over by his performance during this fight.)

Defensive Phrase

If anything could be said about the Rocket Knight is that he was surprisingly showing just enough ability to dodge where he could over this. His body primed for battle before he moved to evade striking that was aimed at his form now, if now more than ever dodging was going to be on point. His battle hardened bodied primed in a near implausible way as despite his beating, he tensed and held onto himself hard. Fingers gripping tightly the sheathed blade as he fell backwards in his step as he let off a back step over the first of the speedy hedgehog's attacks.

_rtR73t7p_1d20+2 (Dodge!) While the move Chaos Snap was incredibly strong, it seemed that being stricken by it had honed the Rocket Knight's reflexes! He stepped backwards and evaded the first strike while his eyes sharpened, his footwork got sloppy.

p_1d20+2 (Hit!) The second blow hit him and sent him into a stagger as for a single moment he nearly collapsed, before amidst the stepping back action his foot firmed and dug into the ground. Prior to him throwing himself backwards after the successful strike of Chaos Snap.

p_1d20+2 (Dodge!) The third blow was dodged like a pro, certainly he was learning something amidst the contest! More fierce than any serious fight he'd had thus far, even this here, he managed to avoid the worst of the Chaos Snap.

p_1d20+2 (Dodge!) And those eyes narrowed again during the final attempt, certainly he couldn't keep full track of Shadow's speed, instead he threw himself into the response an instinctual shift. Only narrowly boosting backwards as he only narrowly evaded the strike, one that he could feel the force behind. Had it hit him, he would have been flat on his face and he knew it, sure enough the opossum gripped his sword hilt a bit firmer while he looked ahead.

Offensive Phrase

How to respond to this particular thing? He'd looked at Shadow with sweat dripping from his face, more of the effort showing itself in heaving muscles. He was still standing somehow, he'd let instinct be the guide and with the jetpack on standby now gathering a charge, he'd evaded enough of the strikes for this to count. He gripped his sword hilt and spoke once more, true he had done well to keep pace so far, though it was clear who was the one who was out of luck here. He'd felt the end drawing near, but since he'd come this far? There was no reason not to throw himself into the fullest of the contest's conclusion, as he knew it now: either he'd succeed or fall. "As I stand and breathe consciousness still, somehow, I will only do what I know best Shadow. To return the favor as best I can, I know not if it was good enough. But let us see!"


p_1d20+2 Elhorn Swordplay [STR DMG 7% Combo- First Strike]- With his body tossed into a forward motion again, though he'd certainly lacked the grace of the previous execution and brought those heels forward, his sword came down in a rapid sword draw slash. An overhead blow that was slopping, but speedy, something that he paid little mind to as he re-sheathed the sword and prepared for its next strike. 

p_1d20+2 Elhorn Swordplay [STR DMG 7% Combo- Second Strike]- Finally that sword sheath drawn down from the sheath in a rapid, an attack of his body using both torque and momentum behind the swings in order to bring together his chaining combination, something suited to maximize the pace of the improving, but still sloppy sword slash.

p_1d20+2  Elhorn Swordplay [STR DMG 7% Combo- Third Strike]- The last and probably most beautiful of the sword slashes had been one performed in mid spin, just a moment prior to his aimed strike. One more fitting the talent of his sword and while he was only just finishing the last stroke, his heel dug in for the last choice action. Whilst parting his feet, he kicked off of the ground and glided into his action.

p_1d20+2 Burst Vortex: [32%, 7% Recoil] Suddenly in that rapid boost, he'd grunted from the recoil of bouncing off of the wall. There he'd bounced off of the arena walls at blinding, near relativistic speeds. Something about the maximum boost being used always caused its recoil, though as he continued through it. He shrugged off the effects, feeling the cold pinch of his attempt on the edge.

p_1d20+2 Burst Shot [26%] It was his last hurrah, a final moment of reaching the zenith of his boost's end before he pointed his sword down at the Ultimate Lifeform and fired down with a hard slash: one final plasma charged burst. His heaving chest came to show that as he landed with a 'thunk!' he'd stumbled backwards and managed to remain standing, just how had he  withstood the pressure of his own flight? He was in wonder over how stubbornness kept him standing. Staggered, but holding himself up for show now, it was the last round for him regardless.

p_1d20 The crowd is actually very cold to this and over the part, the knight was still smiling wearily while holding himself together.

Against the odds, Spark still managed to stand, but it seemed as though there wasn’t much left in him to give. The Opossum was hanging by a thread, and if he were to get hit again, he would fall. To be fair, Shadow wasn’t doing too much better. The hedgehog was at the edge and may have taken one too many risks in this fight for a normal person’s liking. But Shadow was far from normal. He liked living on the edge…

...That just made victories all the sweeter!

Spark came back, swinging his sword at Shadow, which he dodged with ease, leaning back and jumping as he normally did… well, all but the last swipe, which managed to hit him on the side as the hedgehog was landing from jumping over the second swipe. Shadow winced in a bit of pain, but managed to recover as he prepared to avoid the one attack that could decide it. The one that had made its mark on Shadow since the start of the fight. Would Shadow finally overcome Burst Vortex?

And by the skin of his teeth, he’s done it! He’s finally managed to avoid the powerful Burst vortex, rolling himself up into a ball and leaping right over it! Shadow’s confidence seemed to burst as he faced Spark’s final attack to try and end this fight.

Unfortunately for Sparks, he was also able to avoid that one by skidding to the side, turning around to face his foe.

“You know, I honestly didn’t expect you to survive that last stream of attacks I had,” Shadow admitted. “In some ways, I did underestimate you. I didn’t expect you to last nearly as long as you have.” Shadow spread his feet apart as he was preparing for his attack. “But I’m about to finish it here and now. If you want to survive again, don’t blink.”

That’s right! Shadow intended to win this using his speed!

Shadow’s final assault began with his Spin Dash attack, the hedgehog rolling up into a tight ball and spinning himself like a wheel at Spark. He’d come back again two more times, turning himself with… decent accuracy despite not being able to see. (Or could he?) Still, those attacks seemed like Spark could dodge them with ease, though even one of those could knock him out. That’s not even including what he had in store for the grand finale!

p_1d20+3 (Shadow used Homing Attack! Shadow's DEX Stat allows for a +3 in each roll! Should this attack make contact, not only will it cause 12% of damage, it'll also raise his next attack roll by +1.)

Shadow’s second attack was an almost perfect Homing Attack! Once again, the hedgehog rolled up into a ball (see? This is called Homing Attack! How do hedgehogs see when they’re rolled into a ball?), and launched at the marsupial at full speed in case all of his Spin Dashes somehow missed (which is very likely).

p_1d20+4 (Shadow used his Dash attack! Shadow's DEX stat allows for a +3 in each roll! Should this attack make contact, it'll cause 15% of damage! The rest is irrelevent, he will be KO'd if he's hit. Critical!)

However, even if Spark managed to dodge Homing Attack, there was still one more trick up his sleeve that was elevated thanks to that attack… his Dash Attack! The hedgehog, once again, started skating at full speed, once again trying to break the sound barrier with a yellow aura around him, but this time was different! Much like the Chaos Boost effect before, Shadow’s Dash attack seemed to be incredibly potent. In order to dodge this one, Spark would need a miracle, and he probably knew it.

Once again, Shadow ended up on the other side of the arena, though this time Shadow jumped and flipped, allowing the yellow aura around to dissipate, almost having to bend on one knee as the fight seemed to want to drag on. Honestly, Shadow couldn’t blame it. This fight was just too fun! Still, the hedgehog panted a little, clearly not able to take much more of this as he listened for what became of Sparks.

aYX27s6Fp_1d20+2 In truth there was no attempt at a blink, as the buckling knees under the force of the last hit. Hardy natured as he was, the guard fell slack after some half managed defense. Shadow's speed was just what it was expected, it was far too fast for him and even improvised, he'd fallen to his knees with his arms up. Though if anyone was paying enough attention the lack of movement showed exactly the expected result. His head was slack, neck muscles having eased, even the tail had drooped. And certainly his bod was in a posture that spoke readiness, but there was nothing left to give.

To his great expectation of the battle, it had come down to Shadow's speed and his sword proving just slightly too slow. Though it was nothing less than splendid, the contest now done, Sparkster remained where he knelt/rested as one content and now, it was up to the announcer of said match to call it.

Shadow turned around for the second Spin Dash but then unrolled and skidded to a halt as the marsupial seemed to be down for the count. The hedgehog just barely stopped in time to keep himself from hitting the knight again and waited a bit for a response to see if the Opossum was truly down for the count. The referee seemed to finally show up, counting from one to ten in increments of seconds. “One… two… three…” he counted them in order until he reached ten. “...Nine… ten!” And with that the whistle was blown by the referee, causing the already weakened Shadow to clench an eye shut again as it pierced his ear drums.

“Wait, who the heck are-?”

“And that’s the match! Spark is down and out, which makes the winner…”

“Wait, when did you even-?”

“Shadow the Hedgehog!” Before Shadow could even finish his thought, the man grabbed Shadow’s arm and raised it to announce him as the winner.

“I thought I said no announcers and no referees!”

“Shut up! Your fight was boring without me!” The man spoke with his chin high, still gripping the hedgehog’s arm, in which Shadow wasn’t very thrilled about.

“You will release my arm and get away from me, or I will drill my fist through your skull so hard that it’ll end up on the other side.” With that threat made perfectly clear, the referee gulped, gently put the angry hedgehog down and backed away.

“O-our winner, everyone!” And with that, the mostly apathetic crowd went wild as the fight was finally over! ...Well, Shadow would’ve argued that it was rather short, but everyone was entitled to their opinion. And even if they weren’t, well it was none of his business.

However, now it was time to deal with the matter at hand… Spark. The exhausted knight had most definitely had enough, and it was clear as day to Shadow. The hedgehog wasn’t doing so well himself, but he was doing much better than the marsupial. The hedgehog knelt down and made the effort to try and help his opponent onto his feet, though Spark’s height made things a bit awkward. Shadow squinted an eye shut as he made the effort to try and help the marsupial off the stadium and into a medical facility.

Shadow smirked at his exhausted opponent. “You did good.” Shadow said low enough for only Spark to hear. And with that said, the two were off the stadium and headed for some much needed medical attention.
