Hello everyone,
So for the entire 8 years we have been keeping this place alive together, Site Wide Missions have always been a thing. For those that are newer and have not participated in them yet, they are basically big missions that move the story arc severely forward changing a big chunk of the story for the better and the key word is progression.
These missions involve our main arc characters such as Samus, Mario, Sonic, Arle, Toadsworth, Eggman, Bowser, Captain Falcon, etc and typically involves a mission that calls to arms the entire Life Sphere to help in some manner. Some examples include the Life Sphere Invasion and rescuing Samus. They can be looked back on in ION as an example, here is the very FIRST sitewide mission we ever did:
Emergency Tactics 101
The unique aspect about these missions is they are typically ran by an admin or the staff as a whole coordinated effort with no mission character slot limit, everyone and anyone can join! The only catch is that though everyone's choices in these missions play a part in its progression, the end result will almost always be the same trying to move the plot a certain direction, but HOW to get there is up to how everyone roleplays. And these kind of missions types are one of the VERY few that may involve going to the Essence Extraction Point with no rank limit or even defending the LS from a massive attack.
They also allow for ULTRA ULTRA SUPER rare loot in the plenty for everyone! Sometimes even unique things specifically made for YOUR character and also coin bonuses. Those are all the cool things you get from it...now for the cons that have always been concerning to more than one or two of our members, which is where the poll comes in...
With so many people involved in these missions and on different schedules around the world with work, school, life priorities and other things, there was always a tough time keeping everyone consistent in posting in these missions as their characters. And there would need to be a skip rule added that once a deadline is given out, and there are a few who don't make the time limit, they would have to be skipped in these threads to keep the story moving along. As we have always typically done. Some did not like that.
The other catch is, that these missions can be VERY chaotic with so much going on at once! There were always concerns with how characters interact with eachother in these threads and how the struggle to give everyone equal attention in these missions is always apparent. And its also ALOT of work for staff to keep track of all the posts which can sometimes lead to missed information or overlooked responses to some characters actions from the mission goers. Which can lead to frustration.
And finally, not everyone likes or appreciates being skipped and some have believed it unfair to expect a deadline in these situations. We all have different muses and things that make us tick creatively. And no one person here is exactly like the other in that sense. This is also an issue for reasons of time constraints and life juggling for writers who can feel ousted by the mission process.
And at the same time those that choose to not participate, which is ALWAYS the option if they wish, are always going to feel like they are missing out in some way.
So...friends...I am leaving this to the majority in your hands. No third option, sorry. Yes...or no.
Do you want us to continue these sitewide mission events for major story arc opportunities, or keep to our individual mission processes without creating these giant circumstances?
Vote away! Deadline for the polls closing is open at the moment. No immediate rush on this, but I may give a warning to poll closing if we feel the feedback has been significant enough to make a decision. The floor is yours in this topic to state your thoughts as well.
Keep in mind this thread is monitored by staff at all times, and unfriendly debates and flaming in any way of others will NOT be allowed.
Thank you for all that you do for this website and being a part of our nearly 9 years together I am excited to see the results.
