The sudden sound of subtle rustling jogged Mr. Game & Watch back into the world of the wakened. It wasn’t a pleasant surprise though. It sounded very much like a certain stunt driver was sneaking into his room to rummage his snack drawer despite being told multiple times not to. The woozy flat man sprung from his bedsheets, an unwise decision considering that it made his head spin. The Lightweather staff must’ve taken a good chunk of sampling from him today.
While his vision was blurred, Mr. G&W couldn’t deny what he could make out. Half of his hospital room was blown wide open and amidst the rubble was what looked to be a giant unconscious reptilian monster. He cradled his head for a moment to correct his vision and reinvestigated the scene to notice that there was a slim metallic creature sitting upon the monster’s hide and watching a holographic screen emanating from its wrist. Its face lacked the capacity to express emotion, however, its jaw was lowered in such wonder as the projector displayed a festival of some sort, its backlit eyes sparkling as fireworks exploded on the screen.
The metallic man’s attention was quickly brought to Mr. G&W as he noticed his sudden leap into activity. “Oh, greetings!” Ghor introduced as he hopped off the unconscious creature. “You needn’t worry about him. He’s come down with a bad case of incapacitation” he added as he walked passed his mech suit, which had both its blades deeply lodged into the creature’s hide, presumably so deep that the pilot couldn’t dig them out, so he decided to leave it there.
Game & Watch sat back down on his bed, scratching his head as he looked at Ghor curiously. Ghor looked to the flat man, then back at the slain beast. “Right. This fine fellow over here had the bright idea to abduct you while the Life Sphere anniversary festival was taking place. Possibly a hired gun considering his level of intellect. He’d have trouble finding his own tail with both hands and a roadmap, doubtful he’d even know what to do with Shadow Bugs.” Ghor tapped his chin then looked through the giant hole in the wall. “Then again, the roadmap might be necessary…”
The flat man rubbed his head then looked to the calendar on his wall in both confusion and surprise. How could it be the Life Sphere’s anniversary festival already!? Upon quick inspect, he noticed that the calendar had Xs all over, not over days, just everywhere like a toddler’s art project. It wasn’t even on the right month either. His sense of time was so fractured that the anniversary came without him even noticing. Then it hit him. It was just another anniversary he spent bed ridden. So many events had gone and past, and he was here, doing nothing.
Without saying so much of a word, G&W’s quick series of actions spoke to Ghor. A particularly loud firework shot up into the sky and exploded in the background. They both watched it. “Mmm. It’s difficult” Ghor began as he looked back to G&W “When you don’t feel in command of your time anymore. You’re limited in what you can do and you sort of… fade into the background as you catch glimpses of what everyone else is doing. Sometimes feels like you’re doing nothing at all.”
Ghor began to pace as he spoke freely, in a stream of consciousness. “And as we reach these milestones, you can only think of what you haven’t done or have yet to do. There might come a time where we have more freedom to invest into the Life Sphere, sometimes we have less.” His pacing ceased as he approached the side of Game & Watch’s bed. “However, what I think is important is that we are here, regardless of our hindrances, and we invest our time when we have it.”
A 2-D puff cloud arises from Mr. G&W’s mouth and he reluctantly nods. As he looks over to Ghor’s wrist though, he boops a radiant button that reopens the video screen. Ghor’s eyes flickered to the holographic screen and positioned it upright. The cyborg proceeded to take a seat beside Mr. G&W and positions the screen out in a way that accommodated for both of their vision. The duo continued to watch the festivities together.
