As has been mentioned before, this is a list for all current Essentus types. If I missed any aspects of the world or magic that can be thought of, post them here, and we'll see about getting them implemented. This is a sort-of in-character guide, too. Feel free to have your characters study up if they want to be a thaumaturge one day!
What is a Conjoined Element?
What is Essentus?
Essentus, in its most primal form, is a building block of Magic native to Elaam'a, Isonus's world. Within it, grand mages, thaumaturges, and wizards all use various mixtures of Essentus, manipulated directly or indirectly, in order to cast spells, and create new items. Currently, there are 57 different elements, separated into 6 base, and 51 conjoined elemental types, some omitted for the sake of sanity. Below is a full list of all Essentus types, Grandmaster Isonus's notes upon each one's uses, and how to create them.
Element | Extraction Method | Notes |
Aero (Air) | Use Essentus Filtration in a clean aired room | "The first element any mage touches, it's not widely used, but widely found." |
Liquidia (Water) | Dissolve base components of water. | "Often the eye of most life-based or healing based magics. Easy to obtain, as well." |
Ignitio (Fire) | Place Essentus Filtration system over a flame. | "A very straightforward element, with very straightforward applications." |
Justica (Order, Unity) | Decompose from compound elements. | "The single hardest base element, and equally the most valuable. The gold of its kind." |
Perdius (Chaos, Destruction) | Decompose from compound elements. | "Initially the result of an accident, and often where the first seeds of madness are planted in a mage's mind." |
Gaian (Earth, Ground) | Dissolve base components of dirt. | "Useful for many different formulas involving wards or protective runes. Gaian is easy to come by." |
What is a Conjoined Element?
A conjoined element is when two elements are combined to create a new one. Often nested into several different 'tiers', based on the complexity of the elements involved, these Essentus types are often used to create specific, specialized spells, items, wards, or runes, and are the backbone of most Thaumaturgy. Like above, these lists will separate all known elements thus far.
Element | Required Elements | Notes |
Gelious (Ice, cold) | Perdius and Ignitio | "I find little use for it, but it's a learning experience for all." |
Louxi (Light, holiness) | Aero and Ignitio | "This is where faith mixes with this craft, unfortunately. One should be careful utilizing too much of this." |
Motuum (Movement) | Aero and Justica | "The base block for all Golem creation Essentus of this element can animate rocks and sticks to move on their own." |
Permutatius (Exchange) | Perdius and Justica | "Easy for exchanging Dakrium (see below) to Vitreum. Or vice versa." |
Potentus (Energy, power) | Ignitio and Justica | "The single most used compound element ever." |
Tempestius (Weather, storm) | Aero and Liquidia | "Like Gelious, I find little use for Tempestius." |
Vacuuon (Nothingness) | Perdius and Aero | "For creation of... darker arts, this manifests as a counterbalance to the madness." |
Victius (Life) | Gaian and Liquidia | "Both as a drinkable substance, and as a... cure all for illness, this only met one thing it couldn't cure. Starvia." |
Vitreum (Rocks, Gems) | Justica and Gaian | "This? This is the beginning of arcane weapon and armor smithing." |
Dakrium (Underworld) | Perdius and Gaian | [Within is old text written in... what looks like blood] |
What is a Double Conjoined Element?
Much like a singular conjoined element, these are the result of a conjoined element and any other element put together, in order to create a new element compounded from any other two elements. These are often incredibly powerful, and difficult to make, only recommended to be fused by an expert, and used in recipes and conjuration circles that require intense power that not even conjoined elements in their most unstable forms can create.
A Word of Caution
There are more elements to discover... More strength to be had. Be cautious. Those that you find in this world without this guide may be your undoing, but... they may also be your greatest boon to ever cross your world.

Element | Required Elements | Notes |
Bestius (Creature, Beast) | Motuum and Victius | "Bestius is half of the equation for the recipe for Thoein. Strangely, sometimes it creates... Humanus. Man." |
Fama'al (Hunger, Starvation) | Vacuuon and Victius | "The start of any delving to discover sinful Essentus. Fama'al is desire itself." |
Erbaan (Plants) | Gaian and Victius | "Hedge mages fawn over this element. Feh... I don't find much use in it." |
Iteriono (Travel, Journey) | Gaian and Motuum | "Travel runes require great deals of Iteriono. Without this essentus element, no man, woman, or beast would be able to make the crossing between realities." |
Gra'aa'aaa'aaal (Slime) | Liquidia and Victius | "Gra'aa'aaa'aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal." "...I love saying it." |
Metallik (Metal, Alloys) | Vitreum and Gaian | "Though I have not discovered all its applications, even in my eons of existence, I still experiment with Metallik." |
Mortuuin (Death) | Perdius and Victius | More blood-like writing scrawls the page... |
Alacantatio (Magic) | Vacuuon and Potentus | "Hah! If Essentus had an Essentus Element, this would be it. The most redundant of every Element." |
Sanius (Purity, Healing) (Lit. Forgiveness) | Justica and Victius | "It cures... everything but Starvia, still. It even cleans the mind of madness." |
Tenengeni (Darkness, Blackness) | Vacuuon and Louxi | Even more blood scrawls cover this page. |
Slincala (Trap, Slow) | Motuum and Perdius | "It's... very simple. Time slows at its touch, but barely." |
Votalen (Flight) | Aero and Motuum | "Free birds, as they say, love this element. It... moves objects with weight, as if they were never weighted to begin with." |
