Backstory: Here and Here
Appearance:
History On Li: Some time after the defeat of Giygas, about a month or so, Paula called Ness and planned on visiting him in Onett. A trip where she rest in Onett for the night as it were. Twoson was a direct neighbor to Onett, and with the lack of supernatural hostilities, a walk alone was a fine idea. The girl had packed up the important things for a picnic, her basket filled with goodies and snacks for both on the road and to give to her friend. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary at first, the wooded area between each town the same path as usual. Yet, perhaps she had left far later than she thought, as the sky grew a red-orange as though it were dusk. The girl shrugged it off at first, but her psionic powers tingled with the signs of danger.
Last time her powers went off like that, she had been kidnapped and needed her friends to rescue her.
Wilted trees and ruined architecture soon littered the world around the PSI user. None of this was normal, nor was this Onett. Odd creatures attacked her on sight, those crazed, bloodshot eyes terrorizing the poor thing at every turn. Yes, she knew how to fight, but last time she did anything of the sort the girl was surrounded by allies. Praying was not helping either, or at least, not much. Paula found her way to a form of sanctuary known as the Life Sphere. Grasping the situation was difficult, the young girl just about to cry upon realizing she was not going home anytime soon. She prevailed over her emotions, however, opting to try and make the best of the situation by assisting the Life Sphere in survival.
Primary Attacks (3)
PSI Fry Pan: Though a weak excuse for a weapon on its own, Paula's frying pan has saved her bacon on more than a few occasions. Surrounding it with psychic energy, the girl uses a telekinetic pulse to send it flying at an enemy. The force hits hard, but enhancing an object in such a way means the frying pan does need a quick rest as to not break it by accident. [Heavy WIS Attack, 22% DMG, 1 Post Cooldown]
Swirling PSI: After several adventures of practice, she learned to creature pure, psionic energy to use as an offensive maneuver when elemental PSI just does not cut it. Though the girl rushes in near her foe, she uses an array of psionic twists, turns, and spirals to shoot this psychic force around her. This is great for aerial combat, as this allows her to use the psychokinetic energy to control her jumping and descending capabilities. However, this does not allow her to fly or anything of the sort. [Medium DEX Attack, 12% DMG]
PK Fire Alpha: One of her main uses of PSI abilities is pyrokinesis. Diamond shaped, red particles unleash from her fingers, assaulting her opponent in swift blast of fire. her practice has allowed the girl to do this in rapid succession, albeit, at the weaker Alpha stage rather than her more powerful versions of this PSI. [Light WIS Attack, 6% DMG, Fire]
Special Attacks (3)
Defense Down Omega: Up to 4 opponents she can see are surrounded in a blue aura, an arrow like effect moving down their bodies and weakening their defenses. For the duration, all affected enemies take a -2 to any Defense rolls versus attacks. [WIS Attack Roll to HIT, 3 Turn Duration, 3 Turn Cooldown]
Offense Up Omega: Up to 3 targets she can see, including herself, are surrounded in an orange aura, similar colored arrows rising up and above the selected targets. For the duration, all those affected gain a +2 to attack rolls. [3 Turn Duration, 3 Turn Cooldown]
PK Thunder Gamma: Creating lighting through her abilities of electrokinesis, she chooses up to 3 targets and sends these bolts at them. The strikes have a deal a decent amount of damage, as well as a chance to STUN her foes. Using this again may take the girl some time, however, as it requires quite a bit of focus shooting these out... before she tended to let PK Thunder hit at random for sake of ease. [Medium WIS attack, 14% DMG, Lightning; 60% chance to STUN; 2 Turn Cooldown]
Final Smash (1)
PRAY: Clasping her hands in front of her, the girl sends out a powerful message of tranquility, requesting the aid of her family and friends. Through sheer willpower, as well as converting positive thoughts and feelings to supernatural energy, a brilliant wave of light shoots around the battlefield in numerous beams. All enemies are hit in a repeated fashion by these beams of light, taking 25% damage each. In addition, Paula and all of her allies are healed for 15%.
Other Info:
- Although fanon tends to make Polestar her surname, Japanese sources with a more official tone denote it as Jones. In respect to both, Jones is her actual surname in this rendition, but noted that some kids and the preschoolers she helped take care of back home called her Paula Polestar.
- Due to it being a vital part of her role in Earthbound, she does possess a powerful telepathy, which allows her to even speak with animals and creatures of all kinds.
- While another difference of the Japanese versus English versions, this version of Paula mixes the cutesy and fragile rendition from Japan with the more strong willed and battle ready in the English translation. Best of both worlds!
