So Cauldros was a bit disappointing, because of that no poll this week. Luckily with there only being two submissions, we can neatly tuck Neither Plains right into that slot and won’t have to worry about what to do with that place again. (And then Mari submitted new Sub-Location after updates were already made, so I’ll just shove that submission here since it already fits the theme anyway).
Let’s move on to the next parent location then, shall we? Second to last, we have Icicle Peaks. Some of you may be wondering ‘how could we possibly make Sub-Locations for Ice Climbers, they literally only had one game’ and good on you for thinking that because those were my thoughts exactly! If you guys want a challenge, feel free to make an Ice Climbers Sub-Location that follows the guidelines below, but for the sake of making this easier on us all, let’s try to aim elsewhere. Since the Ice Climbers were meant to represent retro games in SSB, let’s go take that route instead.
So, we want three Sub-Location that hail from the retro NES days, franchises that required you to boot up that old toaster to play some classic games that seem to be all the rage these days. Now, not everyone might be into the idea of the ol’ 8-bit worlds, because let’s face it there wasn’t always a ton of lore tied to them, so we have the franchise rule in place.
As usual, 100 coins will be awarded to the three locations that get picked (if we get three suggestions that is), with a poll that will follow up next week.
Priority #1 - Distinctness from the parent location: So for example, a sub-location in Mushroom Ruins should not simply be another part of Mushroom Ruins. Toad Town for example would be a sub-location we'd have to deny for not being distinct from its parent location, as that is already the primary setting.
Priority #2 - Roleplay Opportunities: Locations suggested should provide a wide variety of potential missions that could be hosted there. If a location seems more like an individual mission gimmick that caters itself to one specific type of mission, it's probably better off staying that way rather than becoming a sub-location. The same goes for locations that characters can't logically normally access.
Priority #3 - Iconicness: Locations should be representative to the series, as opposed to being stuff that has been randomly made up because it sounds fun. Making your own stuff up is great, don't get me wrong, but because of the issue of clutter we probably won't be accepting custom sub-boards at this time.
A good template to fill out when suggesting sub-locations would be:

A good template to fill out when suggesting sub-locations would be:
Name of Sub-Location:
Parent Location:
Description: Describe the location as it should appear on Li, or as it appears in-game
Role in Parent Series: Tell us about the location's significance in it's game(s) of origin
Suggestions as of now:
Irradiated Midgar - as suggested by Mari
Description: The ruins of a once great metropolis stand as a testament to humanity's arrogance. The heavily polluted city and it's surroundings are now overgrown with wild and potentially mutated vegetation, with some of the once great city having outright fallen into the sea. Rumor has it that powerful magic still waits to be tapped, lying dormant within the city's crumbling infrastructure. Be wary of lingering too long, as prolonged exposure to the residual mako energy that haunts this place may cause "mako poisoning", a potentially deadly paralytic and hallucinogenic condition.
Gelid Murasame Castle
Description: At first glance, this Edo-period castle next to the gigantic mountain's surface level seems like nothing special. However, this place is filled with ninjas, monsters, and demons that will not hesitate to attack any unwelcome figures. Aside from that, the castle is home to an alien living inside a gargantuan statue on the highest floor that is the source of all monsters inside. The alien has tremendous evil power, able to bend the castle floors as it sees fit and can corrupt anyone to do its bidding. A resolute heart and well-equipped body are necessary if one is to brave this mysterious castle.
The Painted World of Ariamis
Description: The work of a talented painter sits hidden in a massive cavern near the base of a mountain. A painting that dwarfs even two-story buildings with ease draws in and traps those that get too close, sucking them into the painting and trapping them within the world terrible world it depicts. It is a frozen, snowy, lifeless land. An old and decrepit, yet massive, stone structure sits atop a mountain surrounded by sheer cliffsides, proving to be the main area of interest. The undead haunt the area, empowered by whatever magic gives this place life. From giant rats and humans to dragons and abominations that defy explanation, the area is extremely hostile to those that enter it. The only way to escape the painting is to climb to the top of the cathedral and jump off the mountain. It's said that a giant woman in white guards over the cathedral, guiding those who reach her to leave but becoming hostile if they do not.
Throat of the World
Description: The highest mountain in all of Li. According to the natives of Skyrim, humankind was born at its peak. The snow here never melts, even when brought to warmer climates or subjected to intense heats. It's very common to find dragons around the summit, many of which take mortals climbing it as a challenge. The bottom 75% of the mountain is home to what's aptly named as "The Seven Thousand Steps", a stone staircase leading up to a monastery known as High Hothgar sitting at the 75% mark of the climb. Although its previous inhabitants were seemingly slaughtered by the starvia for their arrogance, decades of research into a magical 'voice' lay waiting to be discovered, perfectly preserved by the inhospitable climate.
Corrupt Naberius
Description: At the base of the mountain lies a tundra that is connected to corrupted forests to the south, and some ruins to the north. The native beasts have been classified as Aberrations, with the inhabiting Darkers evolving to such a state themselves. The forest, overrun with Aberration beasts, is dyed orange like Autumn; while the ruins, in contrast, are abundant with Darkers in spite of the green and flowers that bloom. Caution should be exercised when fighting the Darkers, as it is difficult to purge their corruption after their death.
