So, normally my shtick around here has been a poll a week sort of deal, but this week I’ve decided to switch it up a little.
Remember when we announced sub-locations being a thing? Me neither. It got some traction, but not enough to fill out the board with enough new content. What we will be doing every week from this point forward is focusing on each location in need of sub-locations (which is all of them at the moment), creating a batch of ‘em and then boot up the polls to see which will become sub-locations (right now, we are looking for a minimum of three per location).
So, we will be going in order of which they appear on the board, which means Mushroom Ruins is the first location that we will be focusing on. Whether they be from a Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, Wario, or somewhat like-minded series/game, we need YOUR suggestions on what should be in the Mushroom Ruins. Please read the parameters from Mari’s original post on this subject to get a good idea of what we are looking for.
Priority #1 - Distinctness from the parent location: So for example, a sub-location in Mushroom Ruins should not simply be another part of Mushroom Ruins. Toad Town for example would be a sub-location we'd have to deny for not being distinct from its parent location, as that is already the primary setting.
Priority #2 - Roleplay Opportunities: Locations suggested should provide a wide variety of potential missions that could be hosted there. If a location seems more like an individual mission gimmick that caters itself to one specific type of mission, it's probably better off staying that way rather than becoming a sub-location. The same goes for locations that characters can't logically normally access.
Priority #3 - Iconicness: Locations should be representative to the series, as opposed to being stuff that has been randomly made up because it sounds fun. Making your own stuff up is great, don't get me wrong, but because of the issue of clutter we probably won't be accepting custom sub-boards at this time.

Evershade Valley
Description: A ruined district of withered mansions that is and was known both for its large number of ghosts. In the skies above it, a celestial body known as the Dark Moon has a pacifying effect on ghosts. This could be a civilized habitat for ghosts, perhaps a domain over which King Boo can rule, that like everywhere else can constantly fall into trouble.
Rogueport Sewers
Description: A humongous expanse of twisting pipes and filthy mazelike corridors travel far and wide throughout the kingdom. It's said that an elusive underground city and the legendary Thousand Year Door guards the entrance to a place of true evil somewhere deep within the sewers. Many of the corridors are flooded, however, and the environment is highly toxic making travel difficult. The surface is said to be haunted by spirits of Rogueport's past.
Lavalava Island
Description: This offshore island is home to a tribe of yoshis that has evolved into a warrior tribe in response to the ongoing threat of the starvia. They're very defensive of their tropical home and can be somewhat distrusting of visitors. Aside from the jungles and the beautiful shores, a dangerously active volcano themed dungeon calls the island its home.
The Chai Kingdom
Description: Large bamboo forests are the norm in this far reach of the mushroom world, with an oriental walled city and palace serving as the hub of the kingdom's affairs. This kingdom was somewhat isolationist in life and now serves as a fossil of an age supposedly long past. The creatures here may look familar, but they're only distant cousins of the Mushroom Kingdom's denizens and fight quite differently.
Little Fungitown
Description: A town above the skies which safe ground are a bunch of giant mushrooms. In spite of being relatively safer from the virus plaguing the world, the town is mostly desert save for a few wandering souls. Being from the no-longer-neighboring Beanbean Kingdom could provide any explorers some sort of interesting loot, though it is generally advised to consume food from there with extreme caution.
