Pit sighed flatly at his critical failure at javelin throw.

"I was always better at Archery than javelin anyway!"
Pit shrugged as he fired some arrows into the golem's back while it was distracted with Schezo.

Soon the room itself called for everyone's attention as the golem broke a support beam, sending chunks of the arch way crashing down at our heroes.

Getting damage in with those arrows is quite the uphill battle for him as it is. Only one of the arrows did some damage, the other two were simply deflected by the shield. However, he should have focused himself to dodging the debris first, as it had knocked him out. Upon Pit getting knocked out cold, Schezo got a little bit anxious. Sure the golem is surprisingly not giving Schezo much trouble, but having to go one on one against it would likely change the tide against him.

Alas, Schezo has no time to try and wake him up, as the golem did the charge once more. He evaded it nonetheless, but it still has more to go around. The eyes light up, firing another beam at Schezo.

There was very little way to go around the lasers. If he guarded, his shields would certainly shatter the moment he disengaged. And Schezo himself isn't the fastest guy around, so he's pretty much taking the hit nonetheless. He's starting to struggle to pick himself up now.

"Not good...seems I have to fight back with less restraint! Areiado!"

To Schezo's dismay, his signature spell didn't even do a thing. Oh boy, this isn't looking good for the Dark Wizard. Pit better get up soon or Schezo's going to be in bigger trouble.

Pit groaned rubbing his head.
 
“What happened last night?-Oh right! The golum!”
Pit snapped back to attention remember what was going on.

 
“Schezo! I gochu bro!”
Pit called, rushing in to strike the golem in the back.
Pit came in with an Upperdash uppercut and followed up with a twin blade combo

Pit pondered. An idea traced a smile onto his face.

Pit blew a special whistle to summon his Centurion Troops down from the sky.

And one of Pit's centurions managed to land a hit. It isn't much, but every point counts.

Huh, so this angel's also a commander? Fascinating. It's best I keep up.

Schezo got up off the ground, attempting to chip down on the golem even further. He held out his sword, pointing the tip of it at the golem to cast his spell...

"Shadow Edge!"

...and while it was the only spell he could muster at the moment, it left a sizable impact. Ah, but it still continues to fight, taking the trident and swinging it in a wide fashion in an attempt to attack Schezo, Pit and his army. Smart move, as strength in numbers could easily be its downfall. Knowing that Pit also had those Orbitars, using the laser would not be the smartest move.

It's turned out to be a good thing that the golem made such a large target and Pit made such a small one.
Otherwise the Centurions would have had a harder time hitting it instead of Pit.
Pit still had to worry about doding, however.

Pit gasped as the golem back swang his trident at Pit.
But he wasn't going anywhere as long as the golem wasn't.

“Come on boys! Don't let up!"
Pit commanded as he kept wailing on the golem's back.

Why won't the golem break down!? It's at a sliver of armor left, and it's still in fighting shape. Schezo, still prone on the ground from ducking under the swing, got up, and went in for the finishing strike with his sword.

And with the second strike plunging into a vulnerable point into the golem, its functions locked up. It fell to the ground, emotionless...but that isn't the end of it. It is machinery after all. Sparks are flying from it and began to heat up rapidly. It may be defeated, but it's about to self destruct. You know what that means? Duck and cover.

Poor, poor Schezo. Sent flying halfway across the hallway by an explosion. Once Pit gets to him, he'll notice that Schezo's covered in soot and a half-burnt cape.

And despite proving too much for Pit and even his Centurions to handle, thanks to Schezo's skill with thesword, a vulnerable point was struck and the golem finally fell to the floor.

"Huh?”
Pit asked in anticipation.exclaimed in surprise


“Alright! We Did It! Way to go boys!”
Pit sighed in triumphant relief.
The Centurions cheered along, covering up their embarasment at how terrible shots they turned out to be in the end.

But they may be celebrating too soon. Sparks started to flare and fly out of the golum's rapedly heating husk.

“Huh? Hold on...”
Pit inspected curiously.
 
“Uh Oh! Hit the Deck, Boys!”
Pit gasped as soon as he realized what was about to happen.

Pit dived behind the fallen arcway and his Centurions dived down to share his shelter.

Two casualties happened, but they weren't Pit or Schezo's. Schezo...struggled to get up, coughing some soot from the explosion. He was hurting all over, but he'll live.

"Ngh...That is most unpleasant. You alright there?"

Schezo looked around, noticing that there's nothing in the immediate perimeter but the entrance of the castle. There were just bits and pieces of the golem sprawled around as he traversed, pretty sure that there's no immediate threat to get to them. It was totally empty. Unguarded.

He dragged himself, just ever so slightly getting close to the light. Once Schezo got to the entrance, he took notice...of how incredibly far he is from shelter. The blue bubble in the distance is in view, but it might take him a while to actually get there. Rending space-time uses a lot of power, and even still, it only really works well on locales that are familiar to him.

"I'm out...but how AM I to get to that shelter like this?"

With that said and done, the duo is home free.

When the dust settled, the olum was nothing more than pieces littered across the hall.
Pit and Voitheia the Centurion finally emerged from their hiding place.

 
“That was nuts!
Did everybody make it out okay?”
Pit asked, quickly looking around to make a head count.


"Voitheia is heah."
The Centurion accounted with a salute.

Sadly, he was the only one who escaped the blast.
Two Centurion trophies lay inert on the dusty ruined floor.


"Apwyn! Xiliam! NOOOO!"
The Centurion cried out in despair for his fallen comrades.

Pit felt terrible about this.
He cared deeply about all his Centurion subordinates.
They were family to him, and he always hated putting them in the way of the harm he faced every day.


“They were brave soldiers.
They gave the ultimate sacrifice for the mission."
Pit eulogized with a comforting hand on Voltheia's shoulder.

Pit picked up the two trophies and cradled them in his arms.

“Don't you two worry.
When we get back to Skyworld,
Lady Palutena's going to fix you both up good as new like she always does!”
Pit promised.

He wasn't lying either.
Lady Palutena would typically revive her fallen soldiers.
This had even become a problem in recent years as many Centurions have flimsy for lack of motivation to toughen up.
Despite the bittersweet nature of their victory, Pit still felt a victory song was in order.

♫ From Golem's patroling to expolsive defeat!" ♫
♫"What Goddess of Light began Captain Pit came to end! ♫
♫ "We're gonna ask her to revive our fallen friends!" ♫

This succeeded at lifting Voitheia's spirits.
Between the two of them, they were both looking forward to going back home after all of this madness.


“And we've Definitely gotta check in on Secretarius.”
Pit sighed, remembering the earlier mix up at the office.
"Didn't you hear, Captain? She went home sick today."
"Is that so?"

As Pit and his Centurion walked and flew threw the exit, Pit found Schezo contemplating just how he was going to get to the shelter from there.
Pit looked at Voitheia and smiled back at Schezo.
 
“Maybe we can give you a lift!”
Pit generously offered.

"Eh?"

Schezo turned to him, hearing about the offer to fly him to the Life Sphere. Considering Schezo is covered in ash and pain, and the Sphere being on the other side of this world, he's going to need it.

"I appreciate it. There's little chance of a safe arrival in my current state-"

Schezo felt something fluffy in his possessions. It turned out to be that teddy bear he found, and he completely forgot about it the entire time. Well, too late to use it now, but it might come in handy in the future. He never did find out what it did.

Pit explained simply.
 
“But while we're at it,
Man you look in desperate need of a hot spring.”
Pit chuckled, pot calling the kettle black.
Pit handed the trophies to Voitheia and took Schezo by the hand.
 
“Uh. Beam.-Us.-Up, Lady.-Palutena!”
Pit called in his best Captain Kirk impression, tapping his laurel crown like a head set.
And surely enough down came the heavenly light to beam them up and out of there.

Schezo was jerked into the sky with the beam of light. Well...it's a quick way back, but should he really bring a guy whose name means "the gorgeous god defiler" into the heavens?
