Viridi calmed down and got to her feet as their must be a way out of this predicament. Thankfully, the light was returned by Palutena so that was out of the way... Wait... Viridi's raccoon sense is tingling... Great, of all the times for scavenger to appear they just had to choose to come when she was an eggplant. Viridi was not about to be a snack for some ravenous rodents.

Viridi was a lot better at evading the hungry mouths of the evil raccoons. She stepped to the side and leaped over them until they got tired of chasing her. She was extremely tempted to taunt Palutena for being snacked on by rodents.... but she was currently incapable of speaking so that has to wait.

Palutena shuddered as she was snacked on. It was an entirely unpleasant experience, full of pain, disgust and humiliation. It was to her relief, then, that she was finally able to break the eggplant wizard's curse and resume her full form in a show of light and widely spread wings.

"Uugh... These wretched creatures!"

A shudder ran down Palutena's spine. Once she had recovered her composure, however, she would gently scoop Viridi up into her embrace using her wings. She would then pull the shorter girl up to her chest, where she would transfer Viridi into her arms and finally onto her shoulders out of reach of the raccoons. Palutena was free, but Viridi still had some time (until the end of this post) until she would turn back to normal. Even wounded, she was far less vulnerable than Viridi in her current state. After she finished guiding Viridi to sit on her shoulders, she would fold her wings around herself protectively, her body beginning to absorb light from around them.

"Take care not to look directly at me, for your own safety."

The warning was clearly directed at Viridi, but the infected obviously heard it as well. Then again... They were zombies, far too stupid to show hesitation in the face of a mere threat. Instead, the raccoons once again converged upon Palutena. Sure, she was no longer what most people would consider edible--but they cared not for this detail. They had had a taste and wanted more.

This time, Palutena was able to deftly ward off the raccoons with her wings, floating out of the way and misdirecting their attacks with large flaps of those divine appendages, all the while heroicly protecting Viridi from harm. Gee, wasn't that nice of her? It was almost as if she wouldn't wish the fate she had just suffered on anyone. ...Or maybe she just didn't hate Viridi as much as Viridi hated her. One or the other.

Viridi watched as Palutena suddenly reverted back to normal. She made a rather show off way of doing it with all that light and angel wings. Viridi looked to the Raccoon's general direction and was caught off guard as Palutena picked her up and plopped her on her shoulder. Viridi was not exactly comfortable with Palutena's slow self protecting her at all but she had little choice at the moment.

... To Viridi's rather shocked surprise, however, Palutena managed to ward off all the raccoons with ease. Huh, looks like Palutena is skilled in some form of self defense after all. Viridi then glowed with a small light as leaves, flower petals . water and small chunks of earth flew around her. The small pieces of nature transformed the Goddess back into her rightful childish form. She then moved to get out of Palutena's grasp and land on the ground to dust herself off.

"Now that that is over, let's never speak of it again," Viridi stated before looking to the raccoons.

Viridi then summoned forth some of the flower petals that healed her to fly by her side. She then ordered the flower petals to fly and destroy those Raccoons after they have sharpened.

The flower petals cut into the raccoons, slaying the two that had been attacking Viridi earlier. Not having had the opportunity to nourish themselves, they were too weak to withstand the attack at all and collapsed.

"Agreed"

The response was uncharacteristically curt. She didn't personally understand why Viridi was indignant, given that she was the one who got eaten, but she wasn't about to correct the smaller goddess. More importantly, she was about to drastically change the meta of this fight. The gold adorning Palutena's body began to glow brightly, the only warning the raccoons got before they were enveloped by an enormous pillar of light around Palutena.

The Raccoons were all obliterated and, perhaps more importantly, the blast ripped through the overhead clouds. The eternal darkness was pierced with an otherworldly shriek of pain and the world around Palutena and Viridi was washed away by a bright light, fauna that hadn't seen the light of day for quite some time withering under its warmth. Nearby, one could see the eggplant wizard. He appeared dazed and confused, blinded by the flash of intense light. Just past the eggplant wizard was a set of large ruins. One could see various mutated creatures gathered about, as well as a series of trophies. None of them appeared to be Pit's from a distance.

"...Did I brighten up your day, Viridi~?"

The smug remark was delivered in a particularly sugar sweet tone, Palutena passing by to head towards the ruins. She seemed intent on saving those individuals, even if they weren't who she came there for. One might notice, however, that the clouds were slowly closing back up. This light would not last for long. Palutena seemed to ignore the eggplant wizard until she reached him, at which point she promptly took advantage of his blindness. Her halo left her head, floating over to the eggplant wizard and grabbing him with magical strength. It then proceeded to just kinda haul him off into the distance, the wizard wildly spraying spells into the air as he was dragged. None of them stood a chance of hitting their mark.

Viridi watched as a few foes were destroyed by her flower petals. It would appear some of them survived though but that was only to be finished off by Palutena. The light not only finished off a majority of the foes but it also brought light to a ruins that had some trophies. None of them looked like Pit so Viridi was about to not care but it looked like Palutena was heading that way...

... After making a pun out of her attack. "Your jokes are about as dim as the darkness," Viridi replied as she followed her reluctantly. She did at least carry that annoying eggplant away at least.

"Why so grumpy, Viridi~? I'm only trying to make light of our situation~!"

The reply came quickly, the goddess of light unfazed by the questionably polite joke about her namesake. Once again her tone was sweet, making a mockery of an otherwise serious situation. Far off and out of sight, she would finally deal with the eggplant wizard by raising him into the air and violently throwing him against the ground in retribution for the humiliation he'd put Palutena through.

And it worked! The eggplant wizard was unable to escape her ethereal grasp, dashed against the ground like a sack full of eggplants. Hopefully, he would not immediately come running back. As the girls neared the trophies, Viridi might notice that the darkness was rapidly returning--but wait. Something wasn't right about the way it was acting. The clouds hadn't actually closed yet.

"I wonder how long these people have been waiting to be rescued..."

Palutena seemed to worry aloud as she reached one of the scattered trophies. Perhaps the collapse of whatever structure had lain here had slain the unfortunate souls before the starvia could. ...Was that fortunate? This whole trophy thing was a little messed up when she thought about it that way. "We'll have to bring them back to the Life Sphere to recover." she explained to no one in particular, using her ethereal grasp to pick up the first rescued civilian.

Just then, the unnatural darkness began condense together into a blob before the girls' eyes. A vaguely humanoid figure began to take shape, towering over them.

...By the size of it, they were in for a tough fight. Shame they hadn't found Pit yet. Maybe he could help!

Viridi simply rolled her eyes at Palutena making another pun. Guess she did kind of sign up to be put through this. Hopefully they find Pit soon or the Goddess of Nature might get a headache. Viridi was not as interested in the trophies as Palutena was. None of them really looked that important to her.

... Her attention was more caught by the darkness... It seemed to be acting differently than how it was before. "... Uh... Ms Sunshine, I think we have another problem at the moment!" Viridi pointed out as the darkness formed into some kind of monster... And it looked extremely powerful on top of that.

"Ignore the other people for a second! Try and see if you can find Pit. I will draw his attention while you look! Maybe he is near by with all these people around. I am in a much better condition to take hits. When we find Pit you can focus on the others!" Viridi commanded.

Sure, she had some guts to think she can command the Goddess of Light, but right now she felt there was little options. She was not the one nibbled on and she seemed healthier than Palutena is right now. She might of not had as much luck when it came to coming here. Either way, she was confident she should draw attention for now. Following that mindset, Viridi pulled out a miniture Reset Bomb and threw it at the dark cloud. Maybe the vines and plants can restrict it... but she was not too confident or reliant on darkness being pinned.

Palutena turned her attention to the shadow monster, examining it thoughtfully for a moment. But wait--was Viridi giving her orders? Oh that was beautiful. She supposed she had no objections, though she couldn't help but feel that it was a bit of a stretch that they might find Pit in these particular ruins. ...Then again, it wasn't like he could just be anywhere--right? It made sense that he might be where they'd found several other trophies.

"Yes, my lass~"

Palutena had feigned a subservient tone, poking fun at Viridi's authoritative tone. None-the-less, she appeared to listen. The goddess of light floated over to the ruins, immersing herself in the mess. What even had this structure been, anyway? Some sort of enormous loop-de-loop? ...How absurd!

Meanwhile, the shadow monster faced Viridi down. It towered over her, closing in at a steady pace. Her miniature reset bomb ripped through its body, scattering a smoke like toxic substance into the air. However, Viridi was right to be doubtful of her ability to pin the monster. The monster's gaseous body effortlessly slipped right through the plant's grasps and it closed in on the smaller of the duette, silently looking down at her as it raised its massive fist. What did it feel like to be punched by a toxic gas monster? In this case, it was likely to give off a strong burning sensation. Hold your breath and maybe you won't have to find out what happens if it gets inside you.

...Meanwhile, Palutena made an effort to search the wreckage.

...And to her mild surprise, she managed to discover a familiar trophy! ...It was trapped underneath a rather large boulder. She'd have to lift it before tapping the trophy.

Using the power of her halo, she would levitate the rock off of the familiar trophy to find...

Palutena would deposit the boulder nearby and for once land, bending down and brushing some debris from Pit's frozen face. A gentle sigh escaped her lips, one of satisfaction. ...She'd been searching for Pit for some time, and now she'd found him. It was more than she could've asked for, but everything she'd wanted. Caressing Pit's face, Palutena would discharge a bit of magic to tap the trophy, activating the process that would bring Pit back to life. Pit would awaken to Palutena hovering over him, leaning over and displaying a rather bright smile offset by the steadily encroaching darkness overhead.

"Sleep well, Pit~?"

“…Like a sleeping Towtow...” 

Pit groggily replied in a daze before realizing... 

“…Hey! I’m Alive? I’M ALIVE! Woo-hoo, YES! I swore I’d be an angel by now for sure!”
he cheered trying too fast to move. 

“…oww…what happened last night? Must've been some party...Wh-where am I?” 

Pit groaned, feeling his temple with his hand, checking for lumps. He stretched his wings and rubbed his blinking eyes. The bright light took Pit’s dilated pupils off guard and he had to quickly shield them before they adjusted. When his vision cleared, the first thing Pit saw was the first person he’d want to see; Palutena’s warm, literally glowing smile, shining down on him.

“Lady Palutena? ...Lady Palutena!” 

He scrambled up to his feet, dusted off his tunic, straightened his laurel crown and bowed down on one knee, dutifully genuflecting before the goddess he devotedly served.

“I’m so sorry to keep you waiting!”
Pit apologized,


“I have no idea what happened!
One minute I’m investigating the surface like you asked, next minute the earth’s quaking and then…everything just went…dark!”
he excused, hanging his head in shame.

“But I'm So happy to see you again!" 


"So um.. What's going on anyway?”

Pit finally asked, completely clueless.

Viridi was not surprised as her attack did nearly nothing on the darkness. She had another idea to take down the cloud of darkness but there was another threat at the moment... She made to move as a slammed a toxic fist upon her... However she was unable to get out of the way as it slammed on her. And while she tried to evade, it absorbed into her natural form easily and she was beginning to feel very sick.

Viridi was not about to give up as a blue streak of light burst onto the scene. Viridi quickly got into the Lightning Chariot as it flew through the toxic air quickly. Viridi stood on the high speed chariot and pulled out a Cracker Launcher she took from Dark Pit. Viridi aimed at the cloud of darkness before firing two shots at the monster. Hopefully, Palutena was able to find Pit. She did not really have time to check.

"Well, I have good news and bad news Pit. The good news is that you're right on time. The bad news is that you were an angel all along~"

Palutena teased Pit in response to his comments, smiling pleasantly while Viridi was busy trying not to die. Clearly she could handle herself, right? "I've been searching for you for a long time." Palutena would explain softly, pulling Pit into a rather abrupt hug and wrapping her luminous wings around him as she rejoiced in having finally found recovered her favorite angel. "Viridi and I came here to save you." she would go on to explain, letting Pit go. "Speaking of which..."

"Pit, your first course of action is to help Viridi and I defeat this enemy!"

Palutena would direct Pit to the fight. Meanwhile, Viridi's cracker launcher ripped through the shadow monster. The attack dispersed a large cloud of smoke back into the air as the monster was dissipated into the surrounding area, however, it wasn't down or out yet. The monster's toxic scattered body began to flow around Viridi, surrounding her. It would then close in on her, attempting to smother the goddess by denying her oxygen.

Palutena's hug for Pit took him completely off guard. 

His eyes started to water, a pink blush painted his cheeks and a single tear of joy signed it.

He couldn't help but hug her back, and hug her back he did, with all his might.

“Lady Palutena...Thank you.” 
Pit cheered 
“Thank you so much!"
In the warm glow of her godly embrace, Pit felt safe and secure again for the first time in what may as well have been years.
He was home again. He was whole again.
“I missed you so much! I'm so glad you're back to lead me!”
Pit sniffled trying to wipe that embarrassing tear off his face.

“Viridi? She's here too?”
taking a moment to look up over Palutena's shoulder.
Pit spied the Lightning Chariot zipping through the air with Viridi at its helm, shooting the Shadow Monster with a Cracker Launcher.
“And… It's the Lightning Chariot! I haven't seen ol' Phos and Lux since..."
Pit hiccupped without finishing his sentences. How the tables have turned since then.

He had to save Palutena then and now Palutena's come to save him. 

And Both times Viridi was there to lend a big hand. He owed Viridi for his rescue just as much as he did Palutena. 

There was no question that Pit would have her back now. And need his back up she did, the way the toxic cloud engulfed her.

“Aye Aye Lady Palutena!” Pit saluted.
He ran around her to get a better shot at the Shadow Monster.
“I'll show you just what you saved me for.”
he promised confidently, brandishing his palutena bow and taking aim.

“Hey FogFace!” 
Pit called out to the Monster
“Don't you know that smoking is hazardous to people's health's?"

Well I am Pit, servant of the Goddess of Light,
and I'm hazardous to Your health!”

Viridi watched as her Cracker Launcher shots tore through the monster of darkness. Looks like this will not be that hard after all. Well, that was her thought until the darkness moved towards her again. She quickly motioned for the Lightning Chariot to pick up and out manuver the clouds.

And the Lightning Chariot was successful as it performed a shuttle loop and bolted quickly away from the dark air. The Cracker Launcher was still her best means of offense right now. She did not fire immediately though as she noticed arrows being fired at the monster. She then looked down to notice Pit helping out. "About time you get up from your little nap, Pit. Now let's take down this vile thing," Viridi stated before firing three more Cracker Launcher Shots. Did not work so well last time but she might as well use up the ammo in this thing.

Two of Pit's arrows and two of Viridi's Cracker launcher Shots ripped through the shadow monster, once again dispersing its gaseous body. This time, two wide shockwaves would rocket out at in retaliation against the two active combatants, threatening to knock them over and potentially leave them with some gross chemical burns should they be hit.

(Roll twice to dodge both shockwaves. Dex roll. The threshold to dodge is a mere 11, but if the first shockwaves hits you the threshold for the second rises to 13.)

"Why do you think I saved you, Pit?"

The question came as Palutena tailed Pit to join the fight. She was a bit late, but better late than never--right? Palutena raised her staff, discharging two rapid blasts of light at the smog monster in an effort to give her allies some covering fire.

Both shots struck the shadow monster as it reformed, aggravating the surprisingly sturdy creature. Palutena wasn't finished yet, however. She could tell Viridi was very sick, and as much as they did have their differences she did find herself a bit concerned for the smaller goddess. Who knew how deadly that smog was if you inhaled it? ...And besides, being sick was gross. She'd consider it a favor to herself to help heal the other. Spreading her wings wide, she turned her gaze to the sky and called down a heavenly raw of light to pierce the clouds. Just moments from total darkness, the light once again seared the warped landscape, burning the shadow monster's unholy body with immense strength and healing Palutena and her allies a bit in the process. The warm light was perhaps a refreshing change from the chilling temperatures the constantly eclipsed sun likely offered the area.

"You don't look like you're feeling too well, Viridi. Maybe you should stand back and let our hero us what he's capable of for a bit?"

Pit fired three more arrows to see if the first batch weren't just beginner's luck.

Pit confirmed, satisfied, blowing off his aiming finger like it was a smoking gun barrel.
Pit didn't have much time to be proud of himself.
The Shadow Monster quickly cast two wide shockwaves in retaliation against him and Viridi.

Pit nimbly hopped out of the way of the first shot, but he wasn't nimble enough to dodge the second one.
One of his wings caught on fire.

“Wuaha hot hot hot!" 
Pit began to panic "Fire on the starboard side!”
Pit scrambled around and dropped to the ground and rolled the fire out.

Luckily, by the time Pit got the fire out, not much damage had been done.
Just a few scorched feathers but he was fine.

Pit got back onto his feet just in time to see the Auto Reticule move.

“Excelent shot, Lady Palutena!”
Pit marveled at his mistress's masterful marksmanship.

Pit's wonderment wouldn't end soon, as heavenly light would soon bean down from the sky.
Pit recognized this light, and gladly spread his arms and wings open to receive its healing powers.



“Now That feels good again."
Pit sighed contently
Next best thing to a Hostspring!”
Feeling refreshed and reinvigorated, Pit would gladly take over for the goddess he served and the goddess who helped him in his dire times of need.

“Leave it to me, Lady Palutena,”
Pit stepped up, ready for duty
“You two earned yourselves a break.”
Pit engaged the Shadow Monster, anticipating its next move.
