Roller hit his mark and quickly put his hands back into position as he was prepared to roll some more. However first he had to deal with the retaliation of a certain mutant fox.

The Infected Roller was not expecting any kind of attack. This did lead into shock as some mystical force cut right through the Roller. The Roller stumbled back but kept itself braced for a fight and was still ready. Then it seemed like the man in green got down from the ceiling and had some kind of Vacumn Cleaner.

The robot seen there was no good to come out of that thing so they curled into a blue ball and rolled against the power of Luigi's vacumn. It seemed he was more than successful to as the vacumn did not even come close to sucking up the faster robot. However, it became too fast and launched into the wall and roccichted off of it came flying at Luigi's face. The Roller then would bounce either off of that or the wall and fly at Ninetails.

Ninetails growled as his attack failed to destroy the robot unlike almost every other enemy he had hit.

And it got worse.

The thing flew at him like some guided missile, well, that looked like it would hurt!

"Awah come on! Stupid Sucker!” Luigi growned, tapping the intake with his palm as if that could fix the malfunction somehow.
Before it could do anything else, the Roller got away and and and riccocheted off the wall toward Luigi's face.

Luigi had to think fast, all he could do is flinch and shield from the rotating orb coming at him, and retaliate with some rotation of his own.

And it was just barely enough to bat the Roller away toward Ninetails.
Luigi said something, but he was spinning so fast that it was completely distorted and muffled.

The roller flew at Luigi who bounced the Rolling Robot away with a swift spin. The spin even seem to put a heavy dint in the badnik as it was repelled at Ninetails.

The blue pinball tried to uncurl and move away as it seen the tails. However, the dent caused by Luigi prevented it from opening back up. Purple sparks covered the blue badnik as it tried frantically to open up but just kind of looked like it was malfunctioning. It's pain was ended as the mutant Tails's tails shot up and skewered the robot. A pop effect sounded before a battery fell out of the destroyed robot and fell down. It would seem the coast is clear for now.

Ninetails flattened his ears as metal rained onto his head, tails flopping on the ground as he gasped for some air. His moment of weakness, however, was only temporary as he quickly regained his composure.

"Hehe-ha-ha-HA!" He laughed triumphantly, eyes wild and smile maniacal, "Nothing can defeat us! Come, human, onward!" He seemed in a good mood, confidently trotting on, pausing only to pick up the Drill Arm one of the enemies had left.

Luigi slowed down and stopped spinning, quickly regained his bearings and saw Ninetails finishing move on the Roller.
The battered Italian sighed in relief that that annoying armadillo was finally dealt with.

"Yayhay!” he cheered, snatching the Double Cherry and the Battery and storing them in his pockets. "We-a did it!”
The plumber proudly marched across the room and claimed his true prize; the wrench.

"Yeah! Let's-a Go!” the confident Luigi agreed, proudly twirling the wrench like baton.
Luigi followed Ninetails lead from there.

As they walked down the halls of the sunken Flying Battery, they would soon come across Metal Sonic who stood in the room looking around. It's clear he was looking for something but it was not entirely clear what he was looking for. Luigi's Dual Scream then went off and Tails was on the screen looking urgent. "Guys, bad news! There seems to be another power source coming right for you! It seems even more powerful than Metal Sonic. I suspect it has something to do with the Starvia!" Tails stated urgently.

As the call went on, a sound like buzzsaws cutting through the air sounded behind Luigi. Suddenly a buzzsaw like blue ball sped right at Luigi as if it was going to go right through him and towards the target of Metal Sonic.

Metal Sonic quickly rolled to the side as the buzzsaw came past Luigi and at him. It was not going as fast as one might expect from it honestly. The buzzsaw then uncurled to reveal another Sonic Doppleganger... As it sparked purple and a purple aura overcame it, it was probably safe to say this was the other power.

Metal Sonic got into a battle stance as the other robot revealed itself. Metal Sonic quickly jumped and then rocket propelled itself for a kick to the other faker's face.

The other faker easily sidestepped the kick as Metal Sonic bounced off the wall. It looked like this guy was slippery.

Ninetails was still riding high when they encountered metal Sonic, he didn't even feel angry on the fact that the thing had fled. "Metal animal," He barked in a light manner, "You must come with us, unless rotting away is a preferable alternative." He didn't even hear the buzzing saw sound coming closer and closer.

As such, his fur spiked up as the other metal animal, obviously a twin of their Metal Sonic burst in. His eyes blazed as his sky-high mood dropped back to earth, "Face me coward!" He howled angrily, "How dare you interrupt a god in his objectives!?"

His tails smiled despite his fury before spitting the same substance that have proven to harm these metal animals, or robots as humans would likely call it.

Luigi's proud march slowed down into a tiptoe at the sight of Metal Sonic. This tip toe slowed down to a freezing stop as the Dual Scream went off.  Luigi tried his best to stop the ringing and open it as to not startle Metal Sonic and trigger a hostile reaction.
"Aww, the Bad News already?" Luigi groaned "It's the very thing we are-a here for isn't it." he sighed, knowingly.

Luigi saw the object approaching him in the reflection of the Dual Scream screen. Luckily this was soon enough that Luigi could duck onto the ground and out of the buzzsaw's way. Luigi's could cowardly duck out of danger like a pro. The buzz saw whizzing through the gap between Luigi's head and his cap. Luigi caught his cap and put it back onto his head.

"Mama Mia! What's-a Matta Fo You?" Luigi barked before getting a good look at Mecha Sonic. "Who?" Luigi did a double take. "There's-a two of you!"

"L-Luigi to two-Tails, I've-a think we've-a f-found the other power's source..." Luigi relayed into the Double Scream nervously. "Ten-a-four on the Starvia, o-over."

His first reaction was to pull his cap down over his eyes. But what was the point of that? It's not like the Mech would go away if they ignored it. no. Luigi had to stay and fight this machine like a man. It's what has to be done. It's what Mario would've done.
"We're-a going to en-a-gage it in battle, I repeat we're-a going to engage it in battle, over and-a out."

Luigi raised his cap from over his eyes and bravely secured it in its propper place.
"Okie...Dokie. Here... " Luigi took a deep breath of courage. "...We Go!"

Luigi started off by firing three fire balls at the infected Mecha Sonic. They were a good start-up destraction upon which Luigi could strategize based on it's reaction.

Mecha Sonic quickly rolled into a spiked ball and hopped away from the muddy shots. It would seem the mud was not accurate enough to hit the slippery enemy. Luigi however was much more effective as every fireball hit it's mark and caused the surprise enemy to stumble back. He sparked a little at how much the attacks heated him off. In retaliation, the mechanical hedgehog held his hand forward as a yellow ball formed before firing a massive beam of plasma at everyone.

Metal Sonic was swift enough to roll out of the way of the attack and scanned it's info. He could use an attack like that for battle. Before Metal Sonic could follow up however, Mecha Sonic curled up and began firing himself against the room. He bounced through the air off the walls like some kind of pinball, threatening to hit anyone that did not evade.

The final version swiftly dodged the attack by ducking to the ground. As the attack ended and the inferior clone uncurled, Metal Sonic was quick to follow up. He began by curling into a ball and jumping into the air as he locked onto Mecha Sonic. Metal then fired himself at him in a homing attack.

The Homing Attack would of missed if it was not for it's tendency to lock on. Mecha Sonic sidestepped it but the lock-on managed to curve enough to still hit the Mecha copy. Metal did not stop there however as he uncurled. Metal Sonic began charging a plasmic ball in his hands before firing a similar beam down upon the Mecha Copy.

The beam hit the prototype with immense force. The beam seemed way more gigantic and powerful than even his own version. The heat of the plasma could be filled across the room. Mecha Sonic fell on his knees and sparked from the blow. He still seemed to be in a fighting position though. Metal Sonic jumped back to continue the fight.

Luigi was admitedly very happily surprised to see his fire balls having an effect. This gave him the confidence to stand and fight
And the very next thing he did...

....was dive out of the way of a Death Beam.
"Waaaah!" Luigi wailed, ducking for cover. Perhaps it was best to stay fighting from a distance. Sticking to what worked, he fired 3 more Fire Balls at Mecha Sonic.

Metal Sonic swiftly dodged almost everyone of Luigi's as he sidestepped one. He then batted away another fireball before getting hit in the chest by the next. He gave a flinch but this was not enough for the Luigi Rocket to hit. The prototype faker rolled out of the way before attempting to counter by booting Luigi in the back of the head.

(Roll a 14 or higher to recover in time before getting booted in the head. Take 15% damage if you fail. Can not be blocked)

Metal Sonic meanwhile copied the move that Luigi just used. He then decided to adapt a stance as he jumped at the other imposter with a spindash towards the other robot.

Metal Sonic however was stopped with the other robot pushing him back with his hand while he looked to Luigi. The true Sonic was not one to be ignored however and he uncurled and jumped back. He got into a stance as he prepared himself to strike. And in a moment the robot jumped at his enemy with a jet powered flying kick in his own variation of the Green Missile.

And Metal managed to land with a devestating kick that nailed him against the wall. He however was quick to curl into a ball before launching a kick at Metal Sonic.

And Metal Sonic was able to jump back and glared at the other faker as he stopped by Luigi. Mecha Sonic made to reach for Luigi and hold him in the air by his neck before looking to be forming some kind of energy in his chest.

(Luigi must roll a 13 or higher in DEX to evade the grapple. It requires a 13 or higher to break free. Does only 2% damage but it looks like he is planning something. TartoonHand94)

"Oho-oh." Luigi whistled in disappointment as his Green Missle missed. He couldn't just lay there feeling sorry for himself either, as Metal Sonic was about to lay a boot in the back of his head.

Luigi managed to roll out of the way of Mecha Sonic's foot like a log covered in moss. Although a rolling stone gathers no moss...anyway,
"Huh, nowadays the machines can do-anyeverything!" Luigi humpfed as Metal Sonic outdid his own Green Missile.
"Well, better leave' it up-a to them-a then..." Luigi tried to roll away, perhaps abandoning the fight.

He could "run", but he couldn't hide as Mecha Sonic then grabbed Luigi by the neck and hoisted the dazed plumber into the air by his long lanky neck. Luigi only had seconds to get himself together and react.
"Gackle!" Luigi squawked as the metallic manos squeezed around his throat.

Luigi managed to slither out of Mecha Sonic's grasp like a wet noodle and fell back down.
Upon landing Luigi took advantage of his position bellow Metal Sonic and bounded back up to Super Jump Punch him.

Mecha Sonic fell forward as Luigi managed to dodge his grapple. The taller copy of Sonic was left vulnerable as he was soon pounded by Luigi's Super Jump Punch. The metal enemy hedgehog flew back from Luigi's force and slammed against the wall with intense force. The robot fell and sparked as it took heavy battle damage from the unlikely duo. He looked like he was now in a state that put him at a severe disadvantage.

The Mecha Sonic glared at Metal Sonic and Luigi in intense rage. After a few moments he suddenly flew through the roof and out of the Flying Battery. It would appear Luigi has defeated Mecha Sonic and rescued Metal Sonic as he did not come back down. "... Faker has fled..." Metal Sonic confirmed as he got out of his fighting stance and looked over to Luigi. "Green one. You wanted to see me?" the copy demanded info out of Luigi.

Either way, Luigi has accomplished his mission even if the other one is on the loose.

After Super Jump Punching Mecha Sonic, Luigi fell upside down, back down to the ground, landing head first then falling onto his back.
"Aye! Copper Popper!" Luigi moaned, gripping his fist in discomfort after punching Mecha Sonic so hard. He cracked his knuckles and his hand felt better.
He shuddered at Mecha Sonic's glare and scurried back up to his quaking feet, only for Mecha Sonic to... Run away?

"Hey! Where'd-a he go? He fly away like yellow Pidgit!" Luigi laughed. "Ay! does this mean we-a Won?"

"Yahay! That feels-a so nice!" Luigi spun his cap in celebration.

"Up-a Top!" Luigi cheered, inviting Metal Sonic for a high five. He opened his eyes and seeing the machine's cold stare at him scared his five away.
"A-a-actually, e-yes. I-I was. I-er I mean-a I was s-sent to find you." Luigi stuttered. "H-here, I'm-a call Tails, he wanted to find you to." He added, redialing Tail's number into his Dual Scream.
