Ashe's eyes widened as Chell began her speech. Apparently even Chell could deliver a rousing speech if she was feeling lucky enough. The figure seemed to hesitate, staring Ashe and Chell down for a moment before raising her blade. Ashe pulled Chell against her, pre-emptively preparing to dodge a strike, only for the girl before them to harmlessly strike the air. Her blade seemed to rip through the fabric of reality, leaving a tear in the air that led somewhere not strictly familiar to anyone in the group. It was bright though, sunny even. The inside of a building..?

The tear in reality began to suck in air like a vacuum, drawing in the infected horde as it rushed the combatants. They vanished within, violently pulled into the portal by an unknown force. Ashe protectively held Chell close in fear that they too would be pulled in, but to their likely surprise neither of them were. Suddenly, the tear bulged outwards and an explosion of energy popped out into the room. It filled the group, healing their grevious wounds entirely.

(Volga, Ashe and Chell's damage has been reset to 0% and the horde has apparently been dealt with. Chell is still paralyzed, but she's likely feeling a lot better regardless.)

Ashe blinked several times in amazement at the mercy being given to them. The figure struck her blade into the ground and stood at attention. "...Now, it's fair." she remarked coldly, beckoning the group with her eyes. Ashe would hesitate a moment before turning her attention back on Chell. "How're you feeling now..?" Ashe asked, eyeing the other girl inquisitvely. Depending on how strong Chell was feeling, Ashe would be willing to put her down now. Alternatively, the idea occured to her of trying to carry Chell on her back. That might allow the two of them the ability to fight if Chell still wasn't feeling like standing on her own. "Do you think you can hold on if I put you on my back?" Ashe asked. She seemed to have a plan.

Meanwhile, Volga and Chell were free to make the first attack.

Chell braced herself as the enemy raised his blade... And by brace herself, she moved slightly before she realized it was going to take too much effort to make a defensive stance. When he opened some kind of black hole she knew instantly she stood no chance even as Ashe guarded her. She was too weak to survive such a powerful suction...

... But oddly she did not feel any pulling sensation... And the turret seemed fine too as well as the Companion Cube. Only the infected were being pulled into the vortex. Only when her body suddenly felt a lot more rejuvenated did she fully understand. So he got rid of the enemies and healed them so the battle was fair... It would appear her speech had worked on the foe after all.

Chell still was felt the numbing paralyzation but it was nowhere near as bad before... But she did not feel fully comfortable leaving the side of Ashe yet. Chell did not feel her body would let her pull agile manuvers right now. It was best if she let Ashe move her around for now. At least until she felt she recovered enough from the paralysis to move her body in an agile fashion.

Chell gave a thumbs up as she vowed to be silent again. But then she pointed to her back with her thumb to tell Ashe she would rather be back there right now than her arms or her own feet and that she did feel enough strength to ride piggyback right now. Chell then aimed her Portal Gun at the ceiling above the enemy and opened an orange portal before shooting a blue one right next to the companion cube so it would fall in and hopefully it was planned so it would land on the warrior's head.

Unfortunately her calculations were a little off as the cube kept moving to the side as it fell. It moved to the point it passed where it would of hit him. The Turret though was back on it's feet and had a red targeting laser on the enemy. "You are sighted," The turret called before firing it's missles at the awakened Aile.

[Dragon Knight Volga]

Volga watched in surprise as the mystery woman conjured a portal that sucked the infected into a strange, sunny place. The energy burst from the portal closing healed what little damage he had sustained, repairing his armour in the process. The Dragon Knight was pleased that the playing field had been levelled and unleashed a blast of fiery breath at the stranger.

Aile just sort of glanced at the companion cube as it fell dishonorably next to her. She seemed confused as to whether that was supposed to be an attack. Before she could stab the companion cube in retribution however, a laser guided missile took her off guard and blew her away from the cube. Staggering backwards, Aile raised her blade and struck out at the incoming breath of fire. Her blade cut through the flames, and a force not unlike wind seemed to cleave through the flames. It diverted most of the flame breath away from Aile, but some of them still yet licked at her.

The woman appeared to have taken very mild damage from the attacks. Her blade dissipated and she pointed the hilt at Chell's turret. The way she was holding it and the way the opening in the hilt glew made it immediately clear that Aile's sword was, in fact, also a gun. She would proceed to discharge an enormous blast of plasma from the relatively tiny gun. The blast soared towards the turret at high speeds. She would then repeat the process with Volga, before turning her attention upon Ashe. Turning her gun down, the blade re-emerged and she promptly sliced the air with great speed. Her blade seemed to cut the air itself, launching a piercing shockwave racing across the ground at Ashe and Chell.

(Ashe, Volga and Chell's Turret are the targets of Aile's enormously powerful charged attacks! The threshold to dodge is 22. The threshold to block is 18)

As Ashe helped Chell onto her back, guiding the other's arms around her neck and the other's legs around her waist, she suddenly became aware of a plasma shockwave coming right at them. Ashe recognized that she had no time to dodge, and attempted to block the attack by folding the thick armor on her arms over her face to shield the most vulnerable area of her body from harm. She could have also turned her head down and let the helmet take the blast, but she didn't want to put Chell at risk. Thankfully Ashe's bravery would pay off, and though Chell would feel a jolt as the shockwave rocked Ashe's body, she herself would take no damage and Ashe's damage would be minimal. Ashe would then reach past Chell's leg and grab one of her laser shots from it's holster, using her other arm to help support Chell's weight. Chell falling off would be disasterous right about now, and so she wasn't feeling confident enough to depend on her strength just yet.

Luckily, one laser shot was all she needed to put Aile in a corner. Ashe peppered the area with buster shots, limiting Aile's movements and racking up some chip damage on the boss.

The turret's opticals watched as the women seemed to be pointing their sword at it. This was humorous as guns beat sword any day... Well, that was unless the sword was also a gun which caught the turret off guard. The turret sparked and spun in circles as the blast hit the turret while it was underestimating the foe.

Chell helped Ashe position her on the back of the other as much as possible, mostly by co-operating. When they both finished did they notice the plasma flying at them. Chell clinged tighter to brace herself from the impact on her ally. However, it would seem the attack did little to Ashe so Chell loosened her grip a little. Chell then looked to the Companion Cube and got an idea. She first opened a portal above herself and Ashe and then shot another connecting one to get the Companion Cube to fall down onto her. She grabbed the Cube with the Portal Gun and getting the proper angle without hitting Ashe on the head and firing the Companion Cube to fly at and bash into the warrior.

Volga was caught off guard by Aile's sword. He had expected her to lunge at him and did not have time to try dodge the enormous plasma blast. Instead, he attempted to block the blast by  allowing the fire within him to ignite, making his armour glow with a red shield aura.

Unfortunately, that did not quite go to plan as the blast managed to send the Dragon Knight flying backwards. That wasn't about to stop Volga, though. He got to his feet and breathed another fiery jet at Aile.

Aile raised her blade to block the companion cube, but was a tad slow in reacting and was promptly struck in the face and peppered with a number of bullet shots up her thigh. The bullets hit some very vulnerable areas, namely the inside of Aile's legs, and even managed to stagger the girl. She stepped back and almost seemed to fall, but rather than collapse Aile drove her fist into the floor with such strength that it shattered into a dozen pieces and collapsed, debris flying everywhere as the group inevitably fell into the basement.

Ashe was a very quick and mobile girl, but she was unfortunately weighed down a bit by the other girl on her back. She did have the good sense to put the person she was protecting before herself, however, and only Ashe would feel the ill effects of a chunk of concrete slamming into her gut. It broke on contact with her armor, but she could still feel the blow strain her body a bit. As the dust settled, Aile lunged forward and attempted to drive her saber into Chell's Turret, apparently thoroughly pissed off by its witty remarks and sensible tactics. She would then attempt to follow this up with a vertical slash up the turret's body.

Meanwhile, Ashe checked quickly over her shoulder to make sure Chell was alright before deftly spinning her laser shot in her hand. One might notice that the oddly designed weapon had not one barrel, but two on opposite sides of its ring-like structure. Ashe would fire off a reflect shot from one of the barrels before quickly spinning to the other and firing off a second shot. Mo barrels, no problems.

Chell watched as the strange warrior thrust her fist into the ground and there was a sudden shaking. She put her face into Ashe's ponytail to keep from the debris getting in her eyes. She kind of needed those to see where to put portals after all. The turret meanwhile had to defend for itself. It got hit by a hefty chunk of debri as it fell but that just pushed it away from any additional debri... Did not push the sentry away from the madwoman though.

The turret was slashed brutally by the enemy but it did not do much to it's shell... Which is surprising because Chell did not remember turrets being durable at all. The turret landed on it's legs with a spark. Still, the turret kept it's laser focused on the enemy. Chell looked at the debris that covered the basement floor and got an idea. Chell looked for debris the right size and shot a portal behind the enemy. She then threw down blue gel near a chunk of debri to make it jump up. She then shot a portal under it so it would fall through and use the momentum to hit the enemy in the back.

Aile seemed satisfied as the turret went into sleep mode, only for a block of debris to smash into the back of her head. Ow. It looked like it hurt anyway, but Aile merely turned upon Chell now that her turret was down. Her aura seemed to ignite like fire, turning a bright red color. Aile's face was twisted into a hideous scowl, full of malice and fury. One could even say it was a little intimidating, and Ashe might be inclined to agree with you. Aile lunged for the two girls, leaping across the room in a single enormous leap propelled by the jets on her feet, and attempted to catch Chell.

...Luckily for Chell, Ashe wasn't about to abandon her. Unluckily for Ashe, this meant she was now the new target of Aile's attack. Aile's purple blade cut off Ashe's escape. Ashe turned and held up her busters to try and ward Aile off, but she didn't have enough momentum to complete the motion before Aile struck her. What followed was a brutal series of seven quick and devastating attacks to Aile's body. Chell's guardian was being sliced and diced before her very eyes, and the only reason she didn't succumb to a similar fate was because Ashe did not back down or buckle under the strain. Was she... still standing?

"O-Oh... Geez."

The pain was immense. In a mere second, Ashe had suffered a series of mortal wounds. She could feel her body starting to fail her already. One of her arms felt like it might come apart at any moment. Looking down at herself, Ashe was distraught to find several deep cuts into the shoulder and forearm of the aforementioned arm. When Aile had attacked her, the first thing she had done was try and disarm her. A mystery fluid was running down her armor, which told Ashe she wouldn't have use of that arm for much longer. Several other nasty cuts had been made along her legs and torso. She had seen much better days but even in the face of overwhelming damage, she did not fall. Perhaps if she had been a human the sheer amount of damage she had just taken would have rendered her unconscious on the spot. But well... she wasn't quite human, now was she?

Ashe's reflect shots bounced about the ruined room for a couple of moments before they both managed to find their way back to Aile. To Ashe's dismay, Aile proceeded to drop to the ground and slam her fist into it. A blast of plasma erupted from around her, blocking both shots and rendering her all but invulnerable as Ashe watched. Worse yet, peering through the beam revealed that Aile's own body was rapidly regenerating inside of it. Ashe cringed. A bit of fear entered her heat, but she wasn't about to stand down and let this monster shrug off her attacks.

No... Now was a time to act, act while her body was still in a workable condition.

"Hey, Chell. Be ready to run if I go down, alright?"

Perhaps Chell had once believed Ashe was only repaying a favor, but the teenage heroine had long since gone above and beyond to repay that favor. Now that she stood there, ready to die if things didn't go her way, perhaps Chell might recognize that there was something more to this one's actions. Ashe lifted both of her busters, straining her damaged arm to its limit as she forced it to move, taking aim at Aile. Her targeting system began locking onto points all over the other's body, the barrels of her laser shots glowing dangerously with energy.

"It's time to finish what that oddly familiar girl started! HYAAAAAAAAAH!"

Ashe began to wildly spin her busters, shot after shot flying out with rapid speed. The force of her Giga Crush impacted Aile's shield, dozens of bullets crashing against it. For a moment, it might seem as if not even her final smash could breach the impressive display of power. However, all of a suddenly the beams began to destabilize and an explosion of plasma followed, sending Aile skidding across the room as Ashe's attack overwhelmed her. As Ashe finished, she winced and her arm gave way, falling limp at her side.

...Only for dread to build in her heart as Aile began getting right back up. She was wounded, but far from dead. And Ashe had just made the mistake of overextending herself.

It would seem a block of debris was all it took to set off the dangerous women that appeared out of nowhere. The raging sword user came flying at them and Chell watched as... Arle took a paticularly brutal beating from the similar looking girl. Chell watched as the wounds on Ashe's body were quite terrible.

This was when Chell realized this was a little far for a favor. She did not have to take all that and be torn into such a painful looking state. Chell was felt strange as she always had to rely on her own wit and physical ability to survive to this point... She can not remember the last time there would of been anyone actually willing to go this far to protect her. Her will to survive was one that has always been on a strictly independent path.

And of course, never before was she really concerned for anyone else's survival. As long as she was able to live, she was going to fight for that life... But Arle's actions was one she was not prepared for after a long time of isolation and tests. This went far beyond protecting someone else for what they did. Chell has always had a stubborn urge to survive in her past... But this was the first time she really felt the same notion for someone else's survival. Even the Companion Cube she adored she was willing to sacrifice... But Ashe's actions were of her own and not using a box to your advantage...

Chell decided on a course of action and let her arms and legs drop from Ashe's back. She still felt the numbness from the chewing but her willpower was forcing her to ignore it. She walked in front of Ashe and stared down Aile as she reached into her ruined lab rat attire. She took out two pieces of food and handed them back towards Ashe. She did not really need the meal as much as she did. It may of also been a sign of thanks. Hard to tell from that game face really.

Chell shot an orange portal at a seemingly random spot on the wall. This was part of her setup in the combo she had planned. She then shot a blue energy ball at the mad girl before running right at her. She threw down a bottle of blue Repulsion Gel to give herself a momentous leap at Aile. She put herself into the position to dropkick Aile mid leap. After she performed her dropkick, she quickly shot a blue portal below herself. Using the combined momentum, she flew out of the orange portal and prepared a flying kick at Aile.

(The roll for the Blue Energy Shot was 19, the roll for the dropkick was 15, and the roll for the flying kick was 21)

Chell then quickly got between Aile and Ashe. She seemed insistent on taking any damage for Ashe head on.

Despite Volga's attacks, Aile seemed determined to keep her focus on Ashe and Chell. He saw another opportunity to make an attack as Aile sliced Ashe mercilessly. The Dragon Knight engulfed himself in flames and leapt into the air as he transformed into his true Dragon Form. Volga then swooped down at Aile in a vicious and fiery attack.

Before Ashe knew what was going on, Chell had dismounted her and damseled her by handing her food. Ashe accepted the food with her only functioning arm. Huh... Food. She guessed she'd have to see how little she could chew. While Ashe was busy trying to scarf down the provided food, not that it would make a huge difference in her terrible condition, Aile was struck repeatedly by Chell's forward guard in spite of her paralysis. The lone warrior blocked only one of Chell's hits as she backpedaled. The blows seemed to shatter armor and seriously hurt Aile, judging by the way she recoiled after each blow. Such was her distraction trying to fend off Chell's attacks that Aile was completely blindsided by Volga's attack.

...The scene was ugly. Following Volga's attack, one could see that Aile's body was falling apart. She had been mortally wounded, and it looked as if she might collapse at any moment. Aile glanced betwixt the three with madness in her eyes. She staggered forward, but the movement appeared very painful for her. Her gaze intensified on Chell as the other took a protective position in front of Ashe, impressing Ashe and infuriating the downed warrior.

Then... Aile did something erratic. She giggled at Chell, a large shudder running through her broken body. Aile's body proceeded to begin glowing white hot and she managed to raise one of her arms, turning her blade towards Chell. She seemed to smile, content with knowledge she would never share. And then... Aile dropped. She began striking he ground with her broken fists, sending out wave after wave of explosive plasma. Each punch unleashed several waves of plasma that covered the entire room, unfortunately rendering it difficult to protect anyone. Seeing as how the plasma filled the entire room like a gas, the attack would prove virtually impossible to dodge. ...Virtually.

(There are three explosions of plasma occurring. Roll thrice to for each using your strength or constitution modifier. The threshold for each blast is 18.)

Ashe was unfortunately unable to resist the blast scorching her body. It had hit her hard too, and she could feel herself starting to lose what little control she had left over her muscles. Worse yet, the building itself was buckling under the strain of the repeated blasts. The plasma did an incredible ammount of damage to the building and it was beginning to disintegrate, the ceiling and all that laid above it coming down upon the group like a rainstorm of deadly debris. This was the point at which sealing all of those doors earlier would come back to bite the group. There was only one available exit to the building, and even escaping it wouldn't garauntee them safety, as shrapnel was bound to explode outwards uncontrolled.

(Volga! The building is collapsing on you! If you are caught in the collapse, it will deal a flat 60% damage. You may roll dexterity to attempt to escape or strength/constitution to attempt to block the debris. The threshold for escaping completely is 18. The threshold for getting lucky and only taking partial damage (30%) is 14. The threshold for hiding under Ashe is going to be 8, which prevents all damage. You may also attempt to block the debris falling on you, which has a threshold of 20 using your strength or constitution modifier. Chell does not need to make this roll, for reasons below.)

...Luckily, Ashe and Chell did have one thing going for them. They had eachother. More importantly though, Ashe had another body.

"Get Down!"

Ashe lunged forward and, at the risk of being rather rude, tackled Chell. It was life and death, and she unfortunately didn't have the luxury of being polite if she wanted to make sure they didn't all die. Ashe's body flashed a bright white color and within a moment, the form of bifrost was now towering above Chell, his massive fortress of a body providing a shield not even a collapsing building could hope to get past.

...And lo and behold, Ashe's now superbulky body held under the strain, Bifrost's heavy armor warding off the debris well enough that Chell didn't have to worry about injury. Volga would also be safe if he managed to take shelter. The collapsing building sounded like thunder as it crashed against Ashe's body, a pile of debris forming around the group as it all came down. Only after the thundering noise stopped would it be possible to hear anyone else speak. Ashe shook some debris off her head. "I... I think we did good, guys." she stammered out, her voice somewhere between Bifrost's and her own. One could just hear the weakness in it. "Rrgh.. I can't.. move." Ashe would go on to lament. It was then that she realized she had pushed her body too hard.

Ashe de-megamerged in a flash of light and just sort of staggered forward, collapsing bodily on the ground. She was not dead, but her injuries were severe and had caused her to lose consciousness. She would doubtlessly perish if she were left here. If one were to look around for a sign of Aile, they would see only destruction in their wake. Judging by how much difficulty she had had walking before the collapse, one could surmise that she had been crushed by the collapsing building.

Model A began to worriedly float around Ashe. He was probably freaking out, but the only person that could hear him was passed out on the ground.

Chell watched as the lone fighter seemed to be trapped in a corner now. With the dragon warrior's fierce fire striking she was sure they could bring this monster down. That hope was partially ruined as she started throwing the most powerfully violent temper tantrum she has ever seen.

Chell quickly overpowered the first wave of energy with her will and strength. This was short lived however as she easily overpowered by the next strike. The flinch she took from that cost her dearly though as she was hit full on by the next. The stubborn woman fell backwards by the force of the attack and felt it difficult to get up with her paralysis. The turret was in sleep mode so it took all the blows and started sparking considerably. This spark ended however as it blew up when it was crushed by debris.

Speaking of debris, Chell's eyes widened as the debris were about to crush her too. Figures the first time she has grown attached to a real person in forever would be her end. Well, that what was thought until a familiar blue tint surrounded her vision above her. She was shocked he came back at first and instinctively looked back from Ashe to see she was missing.

Chell was trying to figure out what was going on as the debris made a crashing sound above the person that shield her... Who turned back into Ashe and Chell understood the situation. That was the second time Ashe has saved her in this one mission. That would explain why the croc sounded so weird. Chell did not understand how she did that as Ashe fell to the ground but she quickly sat up and looked around.

... There seemed to be no sign of that mysterious attacker now. It would appear they successfully forced her to retreat or something. Chell sighed and shakingly got to her feet and looked down at Ashe... It was going to be a pain hauling her back but she definitely deserved it. Chell picked up the unconscious friend and placed her on her shoulder. Chell did not pay much attention to Volga as he did not leave nearly as big of an impression on her that Ashe did. With that mission completed, she carried Ashe back to the Life Sphere so she can get some proper attention. It was a little difficult at first since she needed to work through the remaining paralysis but she was feeling better in time. But it was worth doing after all Ashe did for her.

[Dragon Knight Volga]

Volga was glad that his attack had seriously damaged Aile. However, she retaliated with a fit of rage that outdid his own. He attempted to block the plasma blasts by heating his armour so it glowed red again.

Unfortunately, the Dragon Knight only managed to block one of the blasts, the other two doing substantial damage. To make things worse for Volga, the building started collapsing. He saw Ashe had turned into Bifrost and made a dive to get under her.

Unfortunately, he was too slow and didn't manage to get under Ashe or block the debris. Thankfully, he sustained minimal damage and was able to fly back to the Life Sphere.
