Tails was quickly dealing with his final setups for the match in the tourney. He did some final field tests to make sure his gear was still in good shape and took some priority to do some research. His history and abilities suggested he may be tough for the first round. Tails has calculated some counter strageties to the Beast's attacks and hoped this would help. With some final tweaks and adjustments, Tails put adjusted his Thunder Cannon's teleportation, upped the pulse on his magnet bombs, and made sure his Chaos Emerald Powered Cannon was fully charged. Putting his Chaos Cannon away, he put some last calculations into his Tails Boy and stored that with his bombs. Tails then locked up his lab and dashed for the stadium.

Tails made it to the stadium for his round of the tourney in part to his speed that can keep up with Sonic. Tails took a little breather as he waited for the traditions to begin. While he caught his breath he did a rerun of his plans in his head and was ready. He did a quick check to see if Sonic was in the stands. He did not want to fail in the first round, he needed to prove he can handle himself.

This tournament was an interesting concept to the oerix. Of course the general idea wasn't anything foreign, just some of the rules; of which he overheard from another party who seemed to just enjoy hearing themselves talk. The silver tongued human however had different opinions on it than Krexix. This test of strength and opportunity to observe others' abilities in a controlled setting would be incredibly useful.

Entering the stadium he noted how similar it was, albeit larger, to the bloody pits he was more accustomed to. The familiarity made sense though; only cowards needed environmental tools to win a straight up fight. Krexix positioned himself opposite the little orange fox, giving a good couple dozen feet of distance. The furry creature didn't look like much. Seemed more like a cute pet someone was playing dress-up with than a fighter. Appearances were very deceiving in this strange world though.

The large alien clicked one of his toe claws against the ground in a rhythmic tapping as he took in the area and his opponent. Making attempts to gauge what sort of things he should expect of this mammal Krexix found himself thinking of more human ploys based on the strange attire. A brief snort escaped him signalling his change of thought. The time for preparation was over.

The audience was jiving in anticipation, this was the first time that the Life Sphere had ever hosted such an event. A tournament seemed like such a natural contest to be held within this establishment. The pairing that was within the ring seemed quite odd, but the audience was still pumped regardless. It wasn’t quite the clash of big names just yet, but anyone familiar with the name Sonic would know Tails.

Speaking of Sonic, he was lounging about in the stands, waiting to see the scuffle between this creature and his best friend. He noticed that Tails began looking for him and offer him his trademark smile and thumbs up. That was until a concessions toad passed by with what looked to be chilidogs on his tray. The blue blur quickly chased after him.

The platform that hosted the ring suddenly split open, the finely physique figure that was Lt Surge slowly rising as though he was on an elevator of sorts. He wore his usual expressionless face, hidden behind his sunglasses as they shimmered from the sun’s light. He observed the two creatures that stood before him, his elevating mechanism finally coming to a stop. He grew a bit of a smirk as his eyes fell upon the nightmare creature that was Krexix. In a way, it reminded him of a Pokemon, none in specific but it looked like a powerful one at that. He wondered if it was an electric type, probably not but a man could dream. The other thing also looked like a Pokemon, but more like the cutesy ones that young lasses would challenge him with. Not his style.

“Well, well, welcome to the first round. I hope your ready pup, because this thing’s gonna tear your face off. You should both be aware of the rules, but we have a new addition to the old rules just for this occasion. You only have three rounds to beat the tar out of each other, so make each moment worthwhile. In addition, none of that fancy pants ‘Ultimate Attack’ stuff that are all the rage with kids these days. I want a good clean fight, no killing, though that might be unavoidable when spiky over here tears through you like a doll. No outside help either, this is a test of your abilities as a fighter and a fighter that has to hide behind another is a baby in my book, so along with losing the match, you will be a baby for the rest of your life. Have I made myself clear?”

Tails was filled with confidence by Sonic's gesture and almost chuckled when he was distracted by Chilly Dogs. Classic Sonic. That cheerfulness was interrupted by his opponent and the rising of the familiar Sargent Sunglasses... or something like that. He seemed to immediately criticize Tails and doubting his abilities. In fact it seemed like he couldn't go 5.675 seconds without again insulting Tails. He of course was somewhat flustered by this but he was too determined to let it get to him. "Yes, those rules are perfectly understandable. By the way, a proffesional Pokemon Trainer like you should know not to judge an opponent by appearance, Sargent Sunglasses," He replied.

In the few moments the ring made way for the rising elevator Krexix thought the terrain was going to be changing. Luckily it wasn't something as disappointing as that. Instead there was not a tall and proud human standing off the side, of who turned out to be the judge. The oerix eyed the man as he explained the rules, ensuring he had not misheard previously. It all seemed in order.

As for the flourishing text Krexix's mouth line crept into a smirk, though hard to tell with the various ridges and lack of tonal changes. The speech got a snappy reply by the little fox too. Krexix flexed his fingers in anticipation, ceasing the movements of his taloned foot.
"Acknowledged." His response was brief and to the point. Four onyx eyes locked themselves on the two tailed fox as the rest of him loosened into a ready stance for this fight to begin.

The hulking mass of a man snickered at the puny creature’s response. “What do you think appearance has to do with it?” he replied as his Raichu rolled along the ground with a jovial expression on his face, in the same sense a puppy would. “You’re like what, ten years old? That’s like pitting a Garchomp against a Lillipup, but whatever if you want to justify yourself in that manner be my guest. Come ’ere Raichu” the militant man answered as his pet rodent climbed onto his shoulder. He leapt off of the battlefield, with an impressive leap (that is until you noticed the Magnezone that was lifting his body off the battlefield like a lead weight). He threw a flag into the ring as he floated away, indicating that the match was to begin.

Tails was under the impression heroes in his world were 10, coming of age even, maybe he was incorrect. Either way Tails may be young, but he was one of the most intelligent people he knew. Oh well, Tails had a strategy to take down the powerhouse in front of him and prove age doesn't matter either. Tails was already ready when the flag was thrown down. He knew keeping his distance was important to win this fight. Tails pulled out his Omega Blitz Cannon and fired its massive beam at Krexix. The recoil pushed Tails back quite a bit which was half of his plan.

Assaulted just as the lumbering beast was taking his first steps. A tricky little fellow. The massive beam hit its mark dead on and left a strange almost sizzling sound on the braced alien. Krexix was able to protect any vital areas such as his eyes but otherwise the pains of battle began to ache. It was invigorating.

His body heating up with adrenalin Krexix revealed his wings and leaped into the air with their aid. During his ascent the being's camouflage was activated, which cued the soon after cease of his noisy buzzing so that he could complete his move in invisible silence. It was a fairly simple plan to figure out for the furry genius, though the trick would be determining where Krexix was coming down and if he was smart enough to account for maneuvering on Tails' part.

Being fairly battle savvy it could easily be assumed that Krexix would account for such a thing. The last moments of his positioning in the air with aid from his wings were used for this purpose. (Roll = 7) Of course estimations weren't always perfect so the massive creature would be coming down just off Tails' side effectively failing his leaping strike, however did manage to put himself within melee range. His disguise wearing off and revealing his location, if his landing didn't do it for everyone, Krexix rushed forward and attempted to grapple the little fox.

“Welcome Life Sphere! This is your resident cool chimp comin’ to you live from the commentator’s box. It’s about time my smooth and funky words reached all of yah out there. That creepy voodoo thing from the Mushroom Kingdom has been hogging the spotlight for far too long”

“Agreed, Omochao superior, MC Ballyhoo inferior.”

“Woah little buddy, no need to harsh anyone’s mellow here. We’re all yellow and happy. The hate can wait outside while we relax and watch this match”

“Do not refer to this unit as little buddy”

“Keep it chill, man. Let’s just talk about what’s going on down there. That freaky-deaky alien thing just went invisible, might give that lil fox boy some trouble”

“Affirmative it is unfortunate that the organic cannot upgrade its optics to spot the creature like I can.”

“…”

“I mean, Krexix is still gaining momentum!”

“Woah, that dude has two Xs in his name! That’s some radical stuff, man. That dude is a dude, right?”

“Affirmative, it has the traits and body shape of a male Oerix”

“What’s an Oerix, dude?”

The aliens' first move was invisibility, just as Tails calculated. The robot commentator said he can not upgrade his optics which was slightly inaccurate. Tails pressed the side of his forehead as a scouter like object covered his eye. The device calculated any disturbance and it caught Krexix trying to hide his location. Given his trajectory, he'll land to the side of the two tailed fox but Tails knew distance was still important, turning the scouter off, Tails rolled into a ball and revved for a second. After a comfortable charge, the fox rolled very quickly to the other side of the arena before the Oerix could grab him. After getting a good distance Tails jumped up with his arm cannon out and fired it at the alien.

Krexix watched as the speedy mammal dropped down to curl into a ball then dash across the arena. While he had anticipated good maneuverability from the little fox he hadn't quite expected it to this level. With barely any time to think the orange genius popped out of his balled shape and fired another blast from a smaller canon this time. The oerix still slowing from his charge had plenty of momentum to dive out of the way and redirect back to his opponent.

Recovering from his superbly executed dodge in a near run the oerix made another charge at Tails, his wings flared behind him ready to buzz to life and maneuver as needed as he barreled onward. Krexix intended to leap according to Tails' actions and feint a spin kick; his real goal to spit the large gob of adhesive currently gathering in his mouth.

“… And that is the species known as Oerix.”

“Dude! Dropping some heavy education on this crowd! See folks when you come here you’re not only watchin’ a banana slamma battle!”

“This mode of information is inefficient to looking it up in the data archive. It is Samus Aran approved.”

“Readin’ is for chumps! Funky Kong approves the way of learning through dueling!”

“Funky Kong does not have a degree.”

“Of course I do, I have my bachelors in chillin’.”

“That is not a degree.”

“Woah, the lil’ man with a big brain is proving you wrong Omo-man!”

“This unit is never wrong.”

“Dude, he’s got a teeny tiny doodad upgrading his eyes. Maybe he is inorganic after all!”

“… This unit did not predict Tails having access to McGuffin artifact, this unit shall update its data banks so that it does not happen again.”

“The match is rearing its tail already dude! You’re going to nap through the rest of it?!”

“This unit must update, it won’t take long, besides this unit has faith in you to fin- This unit should not lie, this unit shall update that as well.”

“Alright man! This crazy chimp will go on! I’ve got some tubular stories to tell the audience anyways!”

Tails went to dodge the first attack before he realized it was a trap by Krexix's movements. He went along with it by attempting to dodge his tackle until he leaped behind him. Tails used his Tails to propel himself away from the the alien's feint by spinning them up until he was behind him and then taking off to the other side before the kick could land. As he turned his head howwver he noticed some salivating. If his research notes are right, that should be the paralyzing goop he can generate. Dodging out of the way as the Oerix fired with his quick reflexes Tails turned back to the brute. While he would hate to use the same trick twice, his cannon was his only ranged technique while the Cannon recharged and he doubted the EMP Bombs would have much effect. The Hand Cannon returned to Tails' hand and he tried to aim better this time as he fired another electric sphere.

Tails' speed was becoming a problem. Or was he just slowed due to the hit he took at the start of this? His legs did sting a bit, though the adrenaline of the match pumping through his body did well to make Krexix forget the unwanted sensation right now. These moments of battle couldn't allow such distractions or those canons of Tails' would have already won this for him.

With the proper execution of his plan the oerix thought he would have this, jumping in behind the little orange critter to complete the plan. Unfortunately the dual tails of his opponent was used in an incredibly surprising, if not confusing, fashion: propellers. How it was even possible wasn't something Krexix was capable of considering even on his best day. The only thing that mattered to the alien was that it ruined any chance of hitting as Tails rocketed off across the ring once again. It was like playing cat and mouse; and was aggravating.

The large beast chased the fox immediately behind and there was a moment his rage filled instincts began heating up his body before Krexix had to actively cease the activation of his ultimate. If this was any other fight the young genius wouldn't have been so lucky. He did however allow his camouflage to heat up into activation to draw in the energy. Knowing this was an end all situation Krexix didn't even try to dodge as he charged forward in a final attack. Instead he prepared for the shot to minimize its damage and used the time Tails stayed motionless to aim and fire his weapon to get up close.

The oerix aimed to bring his open hand down swiftly and push Tails' head into the ground, Krexix's talons wrapped satisfyingly in the soft orange fur as he then moved to pin the little fox beneath his superior body mass. At least, that's how it went in his head seconds before he began enacting it. His camo would wear off partway through the swing of his arm downward.1d20+1

The fight is finally brought to a conclusion with Krexix crushing his opponent underneath his weight (Coolio rolled a 12). Lt Surge’s mighty Magnezone enters the battlefield to pull away the metal covered fox with its magnetic force while Electivire speeds in to yank the spiky beast away from the tiny canine. Both are placed at their respective sides of the ring, the crowd placing their bets on the winner with their cheers. Both of the fighters seem to have an even amount of cheers, though Tails’ seems more dominant due to it being easier to pronounce and shout in rapid successions. Not to mention that Sonic himself was a very loud individual and some followed along specifically because he was doing it, not because it was their opinion.

Although, the audience wasn’t the one to determine a winner in the end. That job was strictly for the Lightning American. No doubt behind those dark lenses of his was a countenance of true contemplation. Perhaps if the match was longer he’d be able to better determine which of the two was the most versatile and battle savvy. Their luck seemed to be at a stagnant equal. This was going to be a tough one.

The Electric type gym leader rose from his mighty battle throne, upsetting the Jolteon that was peacefully resting on his lap. His Raichu leapt onto his shoulder as he loomed over the arena, his vision switching between the two combatants below.

First though, his gaze honed on Tails. “Well, I gotta say not a lot of people, whatever you are, can leave this place a man in my eyes. You got promoted from baby status. Although pulling that visor from nowhere and not properly registering that for battle was a cheap tactic. Clever, but cheap.”

His head then spun around to the space abomination. “As for you, my praises from before stay the same. You really wrecked shop out there, good job.”

Surge’s line of sight returned to the centre of the ring for the time being. “Overall, the winner of this matchup is Krexix. The flow of the battle always seemed to be on his side of the court and on top of that he didn’t have to resort to pulling new technology from nowhere to aid him in the fight. Even without that, Krexix’s battle born skills really shined here, and it’d be a shame to see his streak come to an end this early in the tournament.”

With that, Sonic breaks from the crowd and calls out Surge. “You’re fired!” the hedgehog says as he points at the referee. The muscle bound lieutenant glanced back at him shaking his head. “No I’m not.” Then promptly walks off.

“… And after all that I learned that me and DK weren’t brothers. I shoulda been able to figure that out quicker, but you know some things in life are so hard to find the answers to. Oh wait, I think I missed the end of the match. Omo, did you catch some of that sick beating”

“....”

“Still offline, well this apex ape ain’t getting fired that quickly.”

“Systems rebooted. How did the match go?”

“They both gave up the fight, man. Hugged it out like true warriors on the battlefield.”

“Illogical.”

“Don’t worry, one day we will all believe in world peace.”
