Backstory: No wiki. This is a slight AU, as if these guys lived in the game world. Still, this doesn't take place in the actual canon used here, unless it's possible that it is. It is said that Sonic met Eggman before Sonic 1, and there's no info about his time on Christmas Island, so there's room for these guys to be in-game canon. So strap yourselves, because this is a long story.
In a very remote land known as Christmas Island, the Kingdom of Acorns, known as Mobotropolis, is homed to one little princess, Sally Acorn. She...had worse luck when it comes to losing her loved ones. Her mother died shortly after her birth, and Sally once had a friend named Nikki who died of NIDS. Nikki's father, Dr. Ellidy tried to digitize her consciousness in hopes of saving some part of her. He was disappointed when she responded with no emotion and noted that she had no designation. Despite this, he chose not to delete her, and he later gave her handheld form to Sally Acorn. The king named her after his wife, Nicole.
While Sally lived a slightly strict life in training to be the heir to the throne, her father wasn't cruel as he let her play in the kingdom with her friends. She, alongside Bunnie, Rotor, and Antoine, explored the island, looking for adventure...which it's a very peaceful and boring place, so no such luck to find some excitement. Until there had been gossip among the children of the island of some sort of blue demon wind that blasts around the island, causing destruction wherever it goes. Though this sounds like nonsense, Sally went to investigate the forest...
...and a blue wind blasted by, knocking her off a cliff.
During his time with Sally and her friends, Sonic got the hang of platform-hopping with Sally, he helped Rotor fix up an old bi-plane he found long ago, trained under Bunnie in martial arts (and accidentally learned how to do his trademark Sonic Spin.), and Antoine...well, he found someone to tease. Sonic grew rather fond of them, especially Sally. They explored the island together, competed against each other in games, Sonic fondly grossed her out with his love for chili dogs, and most of all...
...he actually admitted that he was from the Knothole Village orphanage, in the Great Forest (or Wood Zone), ran by an old owl lady named Longclaw, with who he was rather close. But when she passed away, Sonic bottled up his turmoil by doing what only thing he knew...run. This was quite relatable to Sally, for she shared that she lost two people she loved. But it's best to move forward and be with friends, and not let the past slow you down. They grew close from that...Sally, more so.
The island was peaceful...but there was a man there who bore a rather dark presence around him that the king seemed oblivious to...Dr. Ivo Robotnik. Long ago, the kingdom had a troll wizard, named Naugus, who became corrupt from his own magic and almost destroyed the island. But the doctor's genius helped him create a device that banished the wizard to another dimension. Thanks to his "contributions", Robotnik was granted full access to the kingdom's resources, which assisted in his conquest to obtain secret scrolls that tell of the seven wonders of Mobius, the Chaos Emeralds. Robotnik took over the kingdom, and imprison the king, to establish the beginning of his world empire, and use special energy within the island, called Chaos Energy, to power his machines.
His reign caused destruction all around the kingdom, scaring the people away. Her nanny, Rosie, scooped Sally off before she could desperately find her friends and make sure death didn't take them, too. The people hid in Knothole Village, where Sally found Rotor and Antoine there, and Sonic helped other kids into the village...but Bunnie was absent. Sonic wasted no time heading back to the city before Sally could stop him. It took a while, but Sally caught up with Sonic in her kingdom, now turned into a black robotic city called Robotropolis, and he rescued Bunnie, whose legs and left arm were encased in robotic armor. Robotnik had a vile device called the Roboticizer that traps people into robots. However, they can't get it off Bunnie because she sustained some severe injuries from Robotnik's attack that left her paralyzed, and the robot parts helped her walk and use her arm.
With the gang reunited, Sally vowed to free her kingdom with her friends, forming the Freedom Fighters. They go in Robotropolis, taking down generators and factories to slow down Robotnik's hold on the island, rescuing people Robotnik captured, and so on. Sonic and Sally had many disputes on how to do things. Sonic wanted to bust in and take down Eggman, but Sally didn't want to charge in recklessly. But Robotnik's mining of Chaos Energy was causing earthquakes that threatened to destroy the island. So...yeah, they had to end this now. So Sonic rushed into Robotnik's HQ while the Freedom Fighters took down generators that powered the security (and also rescue Sally's father), allowing Sonic to have his final showdown against the evil egg-shaped doctor, Robuttnik, as he called him (but now deemed him Eggman instead), and his mining machine. After a fierce battle, the destruction of the machine knocked out all power on Robotropolis, forcing Eggman to flee from the island.
Though the kingdom had a long way to go to return to its former glory, the island was freed and Sonic and the Freedom Fighters were hailed heroes and celebrated. While Sonic helped rebuild the kingdom, Sally expressed her worries that Robotnik might return, because he gained information from the scrolls about the Chaos Emeralds, and the energy he minded was only a micro-taste compared to the emeralds. So Sonic vowed to go and find Eggman and stop him from gaining more power to terrorize Christmas Island again. Sally wished to come with him, but she can't leave her kingdom behind. It's her duty to one day be the queen. With Rotor's biplane, the Tornado, Sonic was able to leave the island, at last...
...but not without saying goodbye to his friends, especially Sally, who gave him a warm goodbyeyou know it's a kiss XD, hoping she'll see him again. But sadly, because of her duties, and Sonic's constant battles against Eggman, it was very hard to see each other again.
As the kingdom was rebuilt back to the way it was, her father tasked her as the kingdom's diplomat and representative for the kingdom, and hope to gain allies to help them against Robotnik should he return. Since then, Sally and her friends traveled the world to establish alliances and connections, like the land of dragons, Yurashia. They befriended a powerful yet clumsy dragon named Dulcy. Sally also had some free time to do what she loved...exploring and archeology. Her findings were donated to Mobotropolis' museum or nearby settlements that needed it.
During their travels, Rotor discovered programming within Nicole, unlocking a hologram protocol. This allowed Nicole to manifest a holographic form that allowed her to interact with Sally and demonstrated her first signs of real emotion by expressing a desire to see the stars. These signs come and go, leaving Nicole back to her robotic tone. But she's getting there.
So these days, Sally and her friends just travel the world to establish world relations and explore ancient temples...
...and Sally hopes to see Sonic again.
History On Li: One day, exploring an ancient echidna temple, Sally and her friends found a large ring-shaped structure ancient echidnas called the Eternity Ring. It is said to travel between dimensions, but can only be activated by sitting the ancient language on the ring. Just before they decided to take it back to Mobotropolis, Nicole read the language, activating the ring. It caused a vortex, pulling in those close to it...which were Sally and Nicole.
Primary Attacks (3)
Neon Fire [Light WIS DMG 7% combo] - Nicole rapidly fires pixelated bolts at a foe.
Stun Hack [Medium INT DMG 12%] - Nicole creates a spark that explodes on her enemy. But against an enemy that is a robot or uses a high-tech suit is a different story, for it has a 50% chance of paralysis on such a foe.
Digital Construct [WIS Heavy DMG 26%] - Nicole constructs digital energy into blunt weaponry, whether its a hammer, mace, club, and hammers it on her foe. Also has knockback. 2 turn cooldown.
Special Attacks (3)
AI Update - Nicole is a ever learning AI who can construct anything she observes by downloading the data of any non-magical damaging special moves. All special moves she learned are stored on her Smash Journal. In any Thread she is in, she may bring one of these 'Learned Moves' with her to any thread she joins there on, Or can replace 'AI Update' with one of the 'Learned' special moves. This sacrifices two of her actions.
Digital Firewall - Nicole summons a digital wall that can block attacks that uses stats: DEX, WIS, or INT. This increases her WIS MOD by +2 for only this turn after an opponent's attack against her, or someone else, then roll a WIS roll to beat the attack roll. This sacrifices three of her actions. 3-turn cooldown.
Sally's Leadership: Sally uses her leadership skills to guide Nicole or and her allies to victory. This increases Nicole's and all allies’ MOD by 2 and additional 2% damage for one turn. For each allies, Sally must roll a CHA dice, and if it rolls over the ally's CHA stat, the buff is successful. 3 turn cooldown.
(Note: This cannot be used if Sally is KO'd.)

...and a blue wind blasted by, knocking her off a cliff.
But thankfully, that same blue wind just flew right on her, catching her. Sally found herself in the arms of a blue Mobian hedgehog with styling red sneakers...
...named Sonic the Hedgehog.
He explained that he just likes to run around the island, just trying to entertain himself because it's so boring. It's like being in a prison trapped in the middle of the sea. He didn't mean to wreck wherever he runs, for he doesn't have full control of his speed. Where he lives, he was secretive about it, but he was all alone. Sally wasn't going to have that, and she rather she can help him get a handle on his speed, so she invited Sonic over to her group...much to the dismay of Antoine, who is in love with her, and doesn't trust this blue troublemaker.
Sally found herself in some sort of city under a giant energy dome. Finding out more information about the world, and its struggles, Sally had to put aside trying to find a way home. As much as she's afraid of how worried her friends and father are for her, she can't leave these people to their suffering against the virus Starvia. But when she learned who's in charge of dealing with the virus...
...well, she hadn't seen Sonic for so long, that it'll feel awkward seeing him now. What if he forgot about her? But when she learned how some fake framed him for making a global-destructive bomb, and the people now don't trust him...well, she has to help her old friend...
...too bad that this is a different version.
