After the defeat of Solaris, Death would wave farewell to his Gargoyle associate, and would go into hiding so as to maintain his secrecy and silence within the Life Sphere.

Deep within the Black Market, countless undead minions whom served the likes of Bowser and King K. Rool knew the Grim Reaper as a great friend to them, helping them out with their problems and being informed by them of news from the Life Sphere quadrants other than this place. Death somehow grew concerned with this place and would take it upon himself to serve as the one who patrolled the Black Market at night, it was a thankless task as he would be on the lookout for potential threats.

In fact, the reason for Death taking up the post of patrolling the Black Market at night was because of an incident that happened two weeks prior, and with the growing rumors of Absolutionist attacks, Death was soon joined by all of those who were undead, helping him in patrolling the place at night, their eyes peeled and their nostrils flaring as they sought out suitable watch points in the Black Market where they could easily spy on others without being detected during the day, and relay that information to Death when they gathered at night.

This was dubbed by all who have heard of these occurrences; 'The Reaper Patrol', and it stuck as none of the black market citizens would dare to come out in the dead of night only to be faced with a living bone pile on their front porch.

However, someone did appear at the dead of night...A cloaked woman.

The woman began to walk down the Black Market, noticing the lack of people standing around looking at items, even if it was late at night. She can tell it was because of the new patrol that was in the area reducing people in the area, as they probably don't want to face them what with everything else that was going on at the Life Sphere currently. The Woman knew it was a bad time to be joining the Sphere, but she had nowhere else to go. The only other place that she would find sanctuary in would be in the Starpiece Meadows.

And there was no way she would be welcomed in any reformed kingdom. Hell she wasn't welcomed here either, there was a bounty that was placed on her.

But with her old camp, gone and she needed a place to take care of her companion, the Woman had no choice but to return to the Life Sphere. There was also another reason as to why she's here.

To find someone that she's close too. She vanished and she's looking for answers.

And she knows that the Black Market will have answers, even if she has to face some undead patrol in the process.

Unfortunately for the cloaked girl, her bounty had attracted much more than a fair share of dislike from those who were affected by her actions, especially those who used actual magic.

Thankfully she had yet to encounter any Reaper Patrol members out in the streets, though the girl would have to keep her wits about her, this was verily justified as the undead were only harmed by magic, and passing by a seemingly empty alley was certainly a good idea...

...If not for a skeletal Koopa known as a Dry Bones sleeping with it's socketless eyes empty and a Boo hidden from sight. Long after the woman had passed, the sleeping Dry Bones, was no longer sleeping. The Boo came out of hiding and floated towards it's fellow colleague, who nodded, and the Boo took off to alert it's kin.

Then there was Death himself, his presence in the black market was much more ominous, and the fact that he is the titular Grim Reaper, the woman would really have to keep on her toes to evade him.

Speaking of the Boo reporting to it's kin, they had with them the bounty poster on someone who matched that woman who passed by that one alley, and they alerted none other than Death when they found him doing his patrolling near King K. Rool's hideaway, the Kremlings who met Death would not want to face anyone and kept to themselves, and the Boos would lead the Reaper straight to the woman.

Death decided to take a more tactical approach in regards to the bounty, and sent the Boo to alert a certain Police chief immediately as a result.

He would need some assistance in bringing the bounty in without much trouble.

The woman walked through an alleyway and past a dry bones. She never knew if those things were really awake or not but either way, she wasn't going to wake it up to ask for information. She was going to ask people that were more awake to ask questions. She exited the alleyway, unaware of the things that might happen sometime soon and walked towards a tent that was near the alleyway. It was a garden tent.

She liked gardens. It reminded the woman of the home that her friend used to live in...The friend that she was going to find no matter what. She quickly entered the tent to begin looking around for clues.

Hopefully there would be something that would lead her to...Her.

Captain Falcon was drenched in the glow of his television set, huddled upon the corner of his couch. Equipped with a bucket of low-fat frozen yogurt in his lap and an ice cream scoop firmly within his mouth, Captain Falcon waited for the commercial to end. From the television, a voice announced “we now return to The Young and the Shell-less.” His eyes glimmered and his tear ducts flexed in preparation.

“How can I continue to love if everything I know is a lie!”

“You and I both know that our love is the only truth in this world!”

As streams of tears run down Captain Falcon’s face, he spits out the scoop and tightly grips the utensil with his fist, pointing it to the screen. “Don’t listen to him, Koopette! He’ll only hurt you!” he wailed as he scooped up a glob of frozen yogurt and shoved it into his mouth.

Suddenly, a boo materialized through his wall. Captain Falcon panicked, the bucket of frozen deliciousness flew into the air as he reached for the remote, swiftly changing the channel to some stadium match. Captain Falcon jumped to his feet and stood attentively as he looked to the ghost, while the tv filled the background with noise. “And Rawk Hawk goes for the leg drop on Hawlucha! OOO Ye-ah!” The boo cackled.

“What’s that!? A bounty has been spotted in the Black Market area!?” Captain Falcon repeated, translating the creature’s native tongue.

The boo cackled again.

Captain Falcon scratched his helmet in confusion. “You’ve identified them, but you don’t know their name?”

The boo shrugged.

Putting on his thinking face, Captain Falcon tapped his chin. “Then there’s no time to waste!” he blurted out and held his fist out in front of him. After a subtle clicking of his thumb, the Blue Falcon crashed through his living room and bunted the Police Chief’s sofa clean out of the way. The canopy popped open and the vehicle nudged Captain Falcon off his feet. He performed a makeshift somersault into the driver’s seat and gave the ghost a thumb’s up and followed that up by pointing it to the backseat.

Once secured, the hovercraft blasted out from the building and raced along the streets. The boo directed the Captain, until they came to Death’s location. The Blue Falcon parked, and Captain Falcon sprang out landing right before the cloaked skeleton and saluted to him. “Yes! We got one! Where’s the perp now?” he asked as he intensely looked to the left and the right of him.

"Inside that garden tent, I may need backup just in case." Death said calmly as he made ready to engage the target. The reason for the just in case is Death didn't want to go in scythe swinging, plus he did not want anyone outside of himself and Captain Falcon jumping in on the bounty claim. Hell, Death was who he was because people are always frightened by the mere sight of someone's lifeless corpse. "Guess I'll shift to a form that people are more comfortable with so as to coax the target into complying with coming peacefully to the precinct, but chances are that the bounty will resist arrest." Death added as he turned into a human priest and silently slipped into the garden tent.

In the tent, Death in his Human guise would gently place a hand on the hooded woman's shoulder, his undead palour masked by his Glamour. "I bid you welcome to the site where I offer prayers to those who have died because of the famine that struck this place, child. Might I ask what you are doing here at this time of night?" he said calmly, his gaze not flinching in the slightest.

The Woman looked at some seeds for some sunflowers. It reminded her of another friend who...Had sadly passed away now. The Woman placed the seeds back down and continued to look around, she was looking for any signs of the woman that she was looking for...

At least, she would, had someone not touch her shoulder. The Woman would of punched the person in the face due to the fact that she was in the Black Market, and anyone would be willing to mug her. But as the Woman turned, it turned out to be a priest.

A priest that was out on the streets late at night?

"Might I ask the same thing? I don't think it's safe for someone like a priest to be out at the Black Market at this time of night, even if it's to offer prayers." The Woman pointed out, but then she was confused.

"There was a famine? I guess I wasn't there for it because I had other matters to deal with." She said without any emotion at all, along with the first sentence. She looked at the seeds once more.

"I'm looking for someone that's very important to me and I feel as though she might be somewhere in this Black Market." The Woman explained emotionlessly.

Captain Falcon’s triangular eyes dashed to the green house tent as the grim reaper pointed to it. Utilizing all the horsepower that his mind had to offer, the Police Chief analyzed all the possible entrances and exits in case they had the perp on the run. With another click of the device in his hand, he strategically repositioned the Blue Falcon into a nearby alleyway for ease of access and keeping it out of sight for the time being. That said, he wasn’t dealing with a criminal known for superspeed, so its not like he had much to worry about in that department.

Once the F-Zero racer turned back around though, Death had taken on the appearance of a priest and slipped into the tent. Lacking any clothe changing powers, Captain Falcon couldn’t join his companion in the façade, but he could still secure the perimeter. “Falcon sneak” he whispered to himself as tiptoed toward the tent. It took every restraint in his body to not shout that line, so the fact he only whispered it was a Godsend.

The Captain sidestepped along the length of the tent, silently moving toward the entrance opposite to where Death had snuck in. As he got close, Captain Falcon flopped to the ground and crawled on his belly through the tent’s opening to minimize the movement of the tarp. “Falcon roll” he whispered as he rolled his body to the nearest table and pushed himself up to a crouching position, his back hugging against the body of the table. He silently peered around the corner, noting where the duo was in relation to him.

Like an officer prepping his gun, Captain Falcon held his fist up next to his head, cautiously listening and waiting for Death to give him a signal or for the target to make a sudden movement.

"I see... Unfortunately, due to the growing number of Absolutionist attacks, the people who live here feel it safe to only be out during the day. Only those brave or foolish to not heed the danger would be able to survive these streets at night." the priestly form of death said calmly, his emotionless nature far surpassing that of his quarry.

"Oh, but I am getting ahead of myself that I forgotten to introduce myself; I am Zead, caretaker of the deceased, and priest de-facto of the black market. Might I ask your name?" Zead said just as calmly without giving away his peaceful personality, if the hooded woman looked on Zead's person, she would see a solitary medal worn around his neck, something that all people knew was proof of his status as a hero of the Life Sphere.

"As for why I can walk around freely at night, I am perhaps more brave than anyone else. Kremlings, Koopas; they are brave, but also foolish when not working on their tasks for their respective bosses. But for those who have died... They are missed, and easily replaced with a new minion that serves the same position, my role is to offer those souls peace after that have passed on." Zead added with respect to Bowser's and K. Rool's minions, knowing that they were affected by the famine far worse than the other citizens.

The Woman stopped looking at the items as she looked at the priest who is supposedly called Zead. "Zead, that almost sounds like the word dead...And they call you a priest?" The Woman became suspicious of Zead. Then again, she shouldn't be the one to judge people's names, as Zead asked for the Woman's name now which she should give as she moved a bit away from Zead.

"Hagiwara Fumino." She quickly revealed, as Zead explained why he was brave enough to come out during the late hours and then talked about King K Rool and Bowser's minions.

"Yeah...It's still nice that the Life Sphere still cares about their poorer citizens..." Fumino said, sounding emotionless, although she wished she would of said that sentence in a sarcastic tone.

She then turned back towards Zead, her face still hidden.

"Yeah...It's very strange that you also don't have a weapon to defend yourself with in case someone dangerous did attack..." Fumino pointed out.

"Shouldn't you be finding corpses on the streets that nobody will unfortunately care about instead of heckling with strangers?" She asked Zead.

Captain Falcon sat with his back against the table, listening attentively. Not too long into the conversation though, he held his hands up like sock puppets and began to mock the exchange out of sheer boredom. His left hand was Zead and his right was… Hagiwara. Captain Falcon wanted to play the false identity game too, but it was a bit early for him to blow his cover. In fact, it might have been a new record for him. Either way, Death still had a chance to persuade the perpetrator to come quietly. The whole priest disguise was perfect for giving out acts of redemption and all that jazz.

While his fists were burning with his sense of right and justice, the Captain waited for Death to either give him a signal to spring the trap or for the woman to make her first move. Afterall, if they could avoid collateral damage that would be just lovely. If the gloves came off though, he wasn’t sure how well he could avoid that. Ever since that encounter with the Luminoth, he wanted to be better for that.

And so, he waited, his body vibrating like an F-Zero racer before the beginning of a race.
