The castle lied in a rather barren landscape on the edge of Mushroom Ruins territory. Those familiar with Bowser's plans in the Koopalings probably knew where it was since Iggy was using it as a backup base of operations after... the incident where important files were stolen and the base was wrecked by monsters. However, the site of a cactus shaped like a goomba kind of gave off a sign this might not be a prank by Iggy this time. Though why he was so adamant to dad not showing up was a mystery still. Well, a familiar gang of enemies was messing around the castle for Jr. at least.

A bunch of Rabbids causing chaos around the castle, spray painting it, rubbing against it with their... bottoms, running around in circles, plunging the bricks out until the wall collapses and other rather obnoxious behavior. That was until the last one mentioned let out a "Bwah!" into the hole before a familiar stylized green fireball flew out and impacted the Rabbid to send him flying. "Usually I love a good bit of chaos but these guys are making work impossible..." Iggy muttered to himself, throughly more annoyed than usual. Well, looks like there was a state of urgency after all.

At a barren corner of the Mushroom Ruins territory, a pipe stealthily emerged near the secret base. Any subtly the pipe may have had in it’s appearance was rendered for not by the loud and horrendous scraping noises emerging from within.

“How degrading…” A sorely disgruntled voice echoed out. “I once cruised across the clouds in my very own Clown Car!” an outrageous mane of blue hair rose above the brim of the pipe. “Captained a top-ranking airship with my very face adorning the bow!” The hair was attached to a head. The head of a Koopaling. And not just any Koopaling, but the allegedly world renown prodigy of music and mayhem, Ludwig Von Koopa. With a grunt and a scrape akin to nails on a chalkboard, Ludwig pushed his hands free and used them to pull himself…halfway out of the pipe. Halfway? Was he stuck?
“Yet here I am…-grunt-…Reduced to...-grunt-…Squeezing through the pipework…-grunt- ...Like a common plumber!” He groaned, pulling and pushing himself out scrape by scrape before finally popping out and toppling over himself.

“This is unacceptable.” Ludwig scowled, picking himself up, dusting himself off, fixing his hair and looking around to make sure no one saw that.
“Iggy, I swear, this had better be a real emergen…” He began to grumble before getting a good look at the state the castle was in. A swarm of strange, ugly, white, floppy eared…things were wreaking havoc across the entire fort!

“…Seriously, what the shell?” He gasped in utter confusion, scrambling for the first clue of what was going on. Not a minute too soon, he saw a familiar fireball burst forth from a hole.

“Iggy!” Ludwig called out to his fellow Koopaling. “There you are! Are you alright? If so, what is wrong with you?” he pleaded with mixed concern. “I doubt there’s any logical explanation of what is going on here, so instead I ask what has been going on here? Where did these things come from?”

Up in the sky, Bowser Jr. flew his Clown Car toward the castle on the edge of the Mushroom Ruins. So this was where Iggy was holed up. Figures. He was always one to hide himself away to work on who knows what. No matter though. He had recognized those crashes and yells on the other end of that message. If those things were let loose again, they needed to be contained, and who better to gather them but him?

Closing in on the castle, Jr. spotted a familiar mane of blue hair sticking out of a nearby pipe. Looks like he wasn't the only Koopa Iggy had reached-- wait, was Ludwig stuck in the pipe? Smirking and snickering to himself, Jr waited until Ludwig had dislodged himself before he landed.

"What the....?" Jr muttered to himself as he stared at the chaos that had engulfed the castle. He had dealt with the Rabbids before, but this was a whole different level of crazy. Jr looked over to Ludwig and noting his similar state of shock. Hopefully the two of them would be enough.

A bright green fireball signalling the arrival of his other older brother snapped him out of his thinking. "Iggy what's going on?" Jr joined Ludwig in bombarding Iggy with questions "What's happening? And how?"

Iggy looked over to notice Ludwig show up. "Oh yeah, I'm good. And I kind of stopped counting," the Koopaling answered rather directly to his brother with the superiority complex. "You see, that's where you're right. There is no logical explanation, hehehe. They just kind of came out of nowhere," he continued before looking to the crown prince of his siblings. "Now your question is a longer story, come to my lab and have a sit down and I'll explain what I've been doing," Iggy said before turning around and entering the hole in the wall, turning right and heading down some stairs.

The lab was... in a complete disarray. There were holes in the walls someone ran through, upturned tables, chairs and bookshelves. There was Mustard and Ketchup all over the place. There were also a bush in a pot shaped like a koopa and the chairs had a distinct shell design along with gold koopa and goomba trophies. "Oh yeah, don't break anything or anyone," Iggy said before sitting by a desk standing upright with a bunch of locked and closed cases sitting on it. As the others entered the room, by the door was a Rabbid in a Mario outfit trying hard to be cool, spitting to the side upon seeing Jr. Another Rabbid in a Luigi Outfit ran to Iggy's side and sat on the desk while a Yoshi one was... licking up some ketchup. "For some reason these ones are a lot more tame than the rest...Even if the one in the plumber's outfit is somehow smugger than the real deal..." Iggy explained. "Now, to explain, as I said, these guys came out of nowhere. At first I felt they were fun and cool. I had an idea however when working and realized something. What's better than one big and fearsome dad? TWO dads!" Iggy declared, yep, this was going places. "So, I tested a DNA Splicing invention I made on one of them and it worked! I made a Rabbid in the fearsome image of our father! However, he stole my Chain Chomp Pet, the Rabbid dressed like Peach, and started an uprising against me because he thought he was a tyrant. So in conclusion we have a sorta uncle. Congrats!" Iggy explained... attempting to make light of how collossal his error was.

"I think the real conclusion is your family is crazy," another familiar voice for Jr. and no one else said. Beemo the small device spoke up from Iggy's desk. "This is like the 3rd time this mess has happened, the only difference being it was your brother this time and he somehow made his own Supamerge... That was stolen," the device said in clear annoyance. "I want a vacation from interdimensional travel for at least 3 months and a 3 year vacation from Rabbids," the AI continued which gave the Rabbid Luigi a dejected look. "... Not you. You're cool."

“Coming out of nowhere is what We do, Iggy. Before we do bad things.” While there was visible relief in Ludwig’s eyes that Iggy was alright, the same eyes rolled when the Crown Prince landed. _{(Speaking of coming out of nowhere, look what the Cataquack dragged in.)} He mumbled under his breath.
“After you, my future liege.” Ludwig gracefully bowed, leaving the whole in the wall open wide for Bowser Jr. to enter before him. “And might I say, thank you ever so much for descending from on high to mingle with us. I’m sure playing tennis with King Dad keeps you quite busy, so we are most humbled by your making time to see the rest of us~.” As Jr. entered, Ludwig had to restrain himself from winding his leg back and kicking him. Not yet Ludwig, it’ll look more like an accident later…

To say Ludwig was disappointed by the state Iggy’s base was in would imply he had greater expectations. Normally the forts looked this thrashed After Mario blew through them. Speaking of Mario…
“Gah!” Ludwig flinched, nearly having a heart attack at the sight of Rabbid Mario. “I-It’s--Arrêt! You’re not Mario, you’re one of Them!” He accused Rabbid Mario upon getting a repulsed second look. “And so are you, and... The name escapes me. Which one are you again?” He recognized Rabbid Yoshi but not Rabbid Luigi.

Ludwig did his best not to let Rabbid Yoshi’s inceasant ketchup licking distract him from Ludwig’s story.
“So let me get this straight Iggy. You combined the DNA of These… Things…with King Bowser’s?” He combed his forehead with his fingers at the mere thought of it.
“Y’know, I’ve always known you were a mad genius Iggy, but sometimes I doubt the latter part.”
Just what he needed. Two dads. Maybe the new one will pass him over for the promotion he always deserved too.

“You don’t know the half of it…Erm, pardon me, what is your name exactly?” Ludwig asked Beemo a courteous he did not even offer the Rabbids.

Jr walked passed Ludwig, pointedly ignoring what his pompous brother said to him. He was more focused on the state of Iggy's lab, and moreover, the inhabitants.

"You three!" Jr exclaimed upon seeing the three Rabbids again. The havoc these guys caused, especially when they were partnered with Mario..... Let's just say there was a reason that Jr wasn't to thrilled to see them again. A feeling that only escalated when Iggy revealed what he had been doing over the past few days.

"You WHAT!?" Jr shouted. From personal experience he knew that splicing anything was a bad idea, but to mix the craziness of the Rabbids with Papa's ferociousness.....he could only imagine what kind of things that creature would be up to. He didn't have to, though, because Iggy gave him a detailed report about exactly that.

"Great. Just great. Now we have a crazy version of Papa running around the ruins getting up to who knows what. Do you know what would happen if--" Jr was interrupted from the beginning of a rant by a familiar beeping noise. Looking toward the table, Jr spotted another former ally of Mario. "It's name is Beep-0. It worked with Mario when the Rabbids appeared last time. And frankly, it has a point. What were you thinking, Iggy?"

"I think his name was Louis... Or was it Loris?" Beep-0 tried to answer the question of who the third Rabbid was. "Nevermind that, I am sure whatever explanation he has is not very good. Something like, THINK OF THE MAYHEM GUYS!" Beep-0 stated, letting Jr. introduce her so kindly. "Actually... You know how Bowser is trying to take care of the troops in the bad times? Well, I thought he could use some help against the Starvia. My sand clones don't last long or have the brains so I figured making another dad would take some weight off his shoulders... Instead, all my assistants were turned into furniture," Iggy explained. "... Well, that's a slightly better one."

"This is not all bad though! We get to test some new equipment I made for you guys!" Iggy said as he handed a case to Jr. then Ludwig. "For you, Ludwig, I have been constructing a violin to play magic enhanced tunes. For Jr, you get a Gizmo-Nator. It comes with a Remote Control Koopa Clown Car and a few secrets. I'll explain the ropes of them later," Iggy stated. "Yeah, sure, don't give your assistant any credit."

Ludwig! Iggy has supplied you with the Magikoopa Violin. It currently has a War Song to increase the damage output of yourself and all allies by 5 for 3 turns with a 3 turn cooldown and the Sweet Serenade to put all foes to sleep. This uses Wisdom vs their INT and has a 4 turn cooldown.

Jr! You got a remote control titled the Gizmo-Nator. For now it allows you to control Jr and the Clown Car simultaneously without switching. It'll do more later.

"Now, what do you say, care to help me take down our Step-Dad and test these?" Iggy proposed. "They'll guard the basement while we go help Rabbid Peach."

“Why does it not phase me to find out that You of all people are equated with these looney lapins?” Ludwig rolled his eyes. Bowser Jr. always gets to meet all the interesting people while the Koopalings were stuck guarding fortresses in No Man’s Land.

“Well whatever, his name’s not important. He’s just the lesser Mario to me.” Ludwig gave up trying to remember Luigi’s name.
“Back to matters that matter: Do not we already have the means to turn mid-tier underlings into Bowser clones to stall those pesky plumbers?” He tried to remind Iggy of some of the oldest tactics the Koopa book. “…Oh, that’s right. Super Leaves are hard to come by these days…” He lowered his tone upon remembering the times of abundant resources are well behind them.
“Whatever. Just tell me that you at least have some sort of plan to reign in that abunnination’s insanity.” Ludwig tapped his foot impatiently. Fortunately, Iggy’s proposed solution did not disappoint.

“Why would I need a magic violin when I already have my wand?” Ludwig mumbled until receiving the violin in his hands. Something about it just felt right.
“Ausgezeichnet~.” He smiled as he tested the violin’s tuning. “So nice to see after all this madness you’re still a genius Iggy.” He complimented his brother with a hearty cackle. What a rare occurrence. Savor it, Iggy.
“T’is only natural I get assigned the weapon that requires true talent to wield.” Ludwig smirked in self-congratulation. “More talent than merely pushing a button, anyway~.” Aaand there it is. Maybe taking down the rabbid clone of your step-dad will work out some of that salt you’ve got pent up in there.

“Alright Iggy, while I remind you that Ludwig Von Koopa plays second fiddle to no one, he Is ready to rock!” Ludwig quipped, posing like a badass with his violin.

"Maybe because I actually get out of the castle every so often?" Jr retorted. He might as well get one retort in while he could. They couldn't really waste their time bickering, not with that copy of Papa on the loose. Working together, however begrudgingly, was all important now.

Something about Iggy's explanation struck a chord with Jr. Iggy was trying his hardest to help out with Papa, and he believed Ludwig was as well. What was he doing for his people? Now that Jr thought about it...he wasn't actually doing much in the way of relief, wasn't he? Hearing Ludwig mourn the lack of materials, Jr thought back to the literal piles of stuff he had at home. Deciding not to share that particular detail, Jr brought himself back to the conversation, just in time for a remote control to be placed into his hands. 

"Secrets? What kind of secrets, Iggy?" Jr asked. Without waiting for an answer, Jr started fiddling with the knob on the controller. He could already feel like this would come in handy. Although he was tempted to reply to Ludwig again, he held off. He could 'accidentally' punch him out with his Clown Car later.

"Let's get down to business, guys" Jr said, raising his controller in the air. Not as badass of a gesture then with the violin, but it was an effort. "Let's kick this Step-dad to the curb!"

"Not so fast, boys," Came a voice from the lab entrance and a familiar click-clack of heels on the floor as someone sauntered in from her hiding place.

"Wow Iggy, sounds like you've gotten yourself into some hot Koopa soup down here." Wendy was filing her claws nonchalantly. "You grew a second Koopa King and let him loose in Li? Boy oh boy, I'm sure Daddy would be furious to hear about this." She pursed her lips and gave her claws a little blow while giving her brother a devilish side-eye.

"Y'know," She said sweetly, as if the thought had only just come to her, "It is my duty as a loyal subject and loving only daughter to tell my Daddykins about any threats to the Royal Throne that I hear about." She fluttered her mascaraed eyelashes at him and grinned. "Gee, I wonder what kinda reward I could get for reporting this in?"

She walked across the space inspecting the chaos, stepped distastefully over a Yoshi Rabbid licking up sauce from the floor, and slammed her hands on Iggy's desk menacingly, sending the Luigi Rabbid scrambling back to safety behind Iggy.

"If you want my help fixing this, dear brother, and you also want me to keep my mouth shut about it... I want two presents: one of those fancy items you're giving out to everybody and also... when this is over, I want a beautiful, glamorous white fur that drapes off me like a movie star." She posed like a starlet arriving to cameras flashing on the red carpet. "You've got plenty of furry resources around here to work with... whaddya say? Give your sweet sister Wendy what she wants, won't you?"
