The seats were packed to the brim with spectators again, but this time there was someone more ominous in the arena today that made them all look as though they were as silent as the grave. And quite literally because the presence of a Reaper would freak anyone out.

Outside the door to the arena, a message was pinned to the wall that read:

"If any of you seek to duel with Death, come and face me. I'll be waiting for you."

Said grim reaper stood still in the arena, quite clearly visible for all to see, waiting for the first victim to step through those doors to face him.

At the end of the arena, someone did appear, however due to the fact that the figure is standing in a dark part of the arena, it was kind of hard to make out who the figure is. The figure did speak soon after however and it turned out to be a girl, who looked to be a teenager judging by her size. "So, your actually a more normal version of Death?" The figure asked as she took a few steps forward towards the Reaper, finally showing her full on appearance. Who could be the person that wants to beat up the Reaper and defeat him in his own duel?

Who could it be?



It was Tomoko Obel, a 17 year old girl with a spell book. She looked down as she slowly looked upwards towards Death. "Well whatever happens i'm re---Oh god, crap, effin heck!" Tomoko took a step back upon finally seeing Death's face itself, before taking a step forward. "Your, actually how I pictured what you would look like, a skeleton. Although I thought you were going to wear somewhat darker clothes." Tomoko pointed at the cloak that Death was wearing, but she shook her head and stepped into the ring to face Death.

"Well either way, I want to try and beat you...To death." Nice pun Tomoko, nice pun. "Of course I won't try and actually kill you since you know. Your death and you technically can't die, plus it goes against the rules and nobody can actually die here on Li, unless you count getting infected by the Starvia as death." And just like that Tomoko just had to ruin her own joke by explaining it.

Sprinting as fast as his stubby little legs could allow him, MC Ballyhoo burst into the arena, arms flailing in sheer excitement. “AH HA HA HA! We did it, Big Top! We beat the other refs here, perfect timing if I do say so myself!” he announced as he began to dance his little jig, making full use of his preposterously long arms. “About time too! We’ve been beaten to the punch far too many times! Let’s give this lovely audience the true Sunshine Stadium experience!”

Big Top seemed rather disinterested, as usual, but his eyes were lurking elsewhere. Most notably at the sign that stated ‘Competent Refs Only.’ While he was unable to point, he began to shift his mass the sign’s way. “I’m more than certain that we aren’t qualified for this one…” he sighed, though he sounded somewhat relieved by the notion.

Ballyhoo’s titanic yapper fell agape momentarily as his eyes witnessed what they couldn’t possibly believed. “OH! Our rebellious nature toward the competent has foiled us again!” the Master of Catastrophes lamented. He was not discouraged just yet though, as he reached into his pocket of infinites and pulled out a pokeball. “Don’t you worry, Big Top, I always come prepared!” he announced as he readied his throwing arm and spun his hat backwards. “Lt Surge! I choose you!”

As the iconic ball struck the ground, a burst of light exploded from it, revealing the long absent referee extraordinaire, Lt Surge. He looked rather perturbed, stunned by his own sudden appearance. He tried to get his bearing straight, but once he laid eyes on a rather cheerful Ballyhoo, he immediately pulled out his Electrode bazooka. “How about you try one of mine!” he stated furiously as he fired off the explosive Pokemon, sending the announcer rocketing through the sky.

“How long did you keep him in there!?”

“I dunno! I didn’t think he would be mad about it!”

Once that business was taken care of, Lt Surge adjusted his sunglasses again and peered over at the two combatants. It looked like the embodiment of death was fighting a high schooler. He was glad to see that nothing had changed while he was gone. “Whoever you two think you are, while you’re in my arena, I’ll see you both as babies until you can prove yourself in this fight” he drilled as though he was speaking to insubordinate grunts in the military, pacing between them with his arms held behind his back. “A baby fights until their opponent is dead. A baby uses outside help and items. A baby uses their so called ‘Ultimate Attack.’ You two have five bouts to prove to me you’re not babies.”

Lt Surge glared at the two and then snapped his fingers, a majestic Manectric galloping to his side. He sat upon the canine’s back. “Try not to disappoint” he added before whistling and being whisked away by his mighty steed.

Truly death was a scary prospect to come up against, but Tomoko seemed to pique some mild curiosity in death that his always skeletal grin could be given some form of emotion.

"Color me impressed, a child as brave as you has come to confront the harbinger of their final destination and fight, even in my immortal age, I can say that you are but the second to face me; young as you are." The grim reaper said calmly as a less competent announcer arrived, but upon learning that a competent ref was needed, summoned Lt. Surge from a Pokeball and the reaper gave a cackle as Ballyhoo was launched out of the arena by way of exploding electrode. "I'm really liking this omen... Which will guarantee that I enjoy this as much as you, child. And without unleashing our respective final smashes, let us just say that magic is everywhere and one cannot simply deny or shun it no matter how different it is." Death casually explained as he made himself ready and acknowledged the rules from the ref.

When Lt. Surge was out of combat range, Death would get into combat by first launching a jet black sphere that he had prepared for his setup strategy.

Then launched into the spinning Scythe to slice into Tomoko and make her start to bleed out.

Then finally, took a big swing with his scythe to attempt to knock the teen into next week all the way to yesterday.

Tomoko simply stood there and smirked at the Reaper while the more competent ref who is Lt. Surge soon arrived to give out the rules of the match. "Oh trust me, I seen worse stuff from where I came from. I spent a year in a world inside of a locomotive before coming here filled with demons of all kinds of alignments. It was pretty hellish, especially when...Him, told me the reason as for why I was a passenger on that train." Tomoko slightly looked away when she referred to someone she doesn't want to talk about, but she took the time to correct Surge and Death on her age.

"I'm 17." She corrected the human...And Death. "I have do have a magic spell book after all." Then the match finally begun and while Tomoko and Death had a good start, it was Tomoko who had the last laugh when one of the attacks Death gave her managed to deal damage to her. "Crap!" She screamed in pain before jumping back and looking serious at Death.



"Ok Death, it's time to be serious. Here's my turn." Tomoko proceeded to open her spell book and summon three balls of water that started to float and quickly spin around her before they were all thrown towards Death one by one. "Have a taste of aqua!" Tomoko warned Death about her watery attack.

“AH! Hng! Wow, look at this, Big Top! We landed directly into our commentator’s box! How convenient!”

“…What are you talking about? We’re about to enter Li’s lower atmosphere.”

“We might just break the Life Sphere’s ceiling if we’re not careful. No wait, we’re going into freefall now.”

“Thank the great Goomba! It was so hard to see the match from up there, I could barely see what was going on!”

“…Oh yes, it would be a real shame if we didn’t talk about the match we’re watching…”

“That might be a side effect of re-entering Li’s atmosphere, friction caused by free-fall.”

“OH! It looks like that poor girl slipped up in battle! The audience is tearing her to shreds! Look at all those dissatisfied customers! GASP! They might even ask for refunds!”

“Well, that’s the Life Sphere’s population for you, absolutely and completely ungrateful…”

“Look! They’re throwing our designer merch at her! NO! Those animals! What could possibly entertain them!?”

“We have… never mind. It certainly won’t be our skeletal friend over there. He’s as flat as a board. No wonder the crowd is so disinterested.”

Rolling 0 or below causes the audience to throw things at you for a flat 10% damage. This cannot be avoided.

Death gave a sinister cackle as his scythe managed to bite into his opponent. Then he noticed the spellbook, and thought that it might be time to test the waters and be ready for what his adversary might pull.

He was thankful that he was wet from the water but was not completely soaked, and his skeletal body dried up instantaneously because he knew better than to enjoy reaping in the rain.

"Those spells were decent, but you are too soft." Death casually said, moving closer towards his prey as he charged up another jet black sphere and upon reaching Tomoko, would hit her full on with the Orb of Gahena. "This is how you should use your magic!" Death roared with mirthless malice as his attack would be point-blank and Tomoko would have little margin for error with trying to get out of the way in time.

Death then jumped back and hurled no less than two Sickles at her.

Death then finished up by suddenly enveloping himself in his trademark Invisibility cloak, and began moving as much as he could to ensure Tomoko could not get a bead on him in order to disorient and baffle her.

Death would then give his own bow without taking his eyes off of his prey.

Tomoko barely dodged the attacks Death gave to her. She wasn't going to let him freeze her so easily so he can launch anymore attacks on him. She breathed heavily over barely able to dodge such attacks and turned towards Death, standing up as she fell on the ground dodging the attacks. "Now that's what I call impressive, however you haven't seen my full potential just yet!" She warned Death. But as she prepared for her attack, she was stopped when she heard booing from behind her, which was coming from the audience. "Huh?" Tomoko turned, confused.



Tomoko was annoyed to find that the audience had reacted negativity to her chance to appel to them and she angerliy turned back towards Death to continue fighting him. "Ok Tomoko, there just people, they just want to see some punches thrown and not some girl to entertain them. They can't hurt yo---ARGH!" Tomoko was suddenly met by a bowling ball to the back of her head, causing her to fall on the ground as the bowling ball rolled off from the stage. "Argh..." Tomoko stood up and rubbed her head in pain. She was amazed that she survived that without any brain damage, but that just made her even more angry and caused her to turn back towards the audience.

"Who would throw a bowling ball at a teenage girl!? I could of died or ended up in a coma, and I just got out being trapped on a demonic train for a year too!" Tomoko yelled to the audience before turning back towards Death, only to find that he was gone, probably invisible or hiding somewhere, which Tomoko was not going to stand for. "Oh no, your not hiding on my watch." Tomoko opened up her spell book again and shot out a mafrelia blast around the arena, hoping Death would get hit by the blast and reveal himself to Tomoko so he can face him more...Easily.

In case somehow Death's cloak managed to protect him for such a blast, Tomoko fired an agi and shortly after another aqua shot in two different directions in the arena where she guessed Death was. "You can't hide forever!" Tomoko yelled out to Death...Wherever he was.

“That’s no guy, Big Top! That’s the living embodiment of death!”

“Quite ironic, isn’t it?”

“More like problematic! How is the audience supposed to know what’s going on when one of the fighters are invisible! No need to worry though, I have my handy dandy anti-invisibility spectacles on me! Never leave the house without them! You never know when you’re going to bump into an invisible wall!”

“Ah, Sigma Mart Brand?”

“Of course! Why shop anywhere else!?”

“…So, what is he doing?”

“I still can’t see him! Let me read the instructions, maybe I did something wrong! Let’s see… *mumble mumble* specifically counters Espio’s invisibility abilities and no one else. Nooo!”

The moment Tomoko launched the spell, Death had a chance to counteract it with his shield which he generated by spinning his scythe by the center of its pole, the attack the girl used however managed to dissipate the shroud that was death's cloak of invisibility which did not bother him in the slightest.

Death would then dodge the fireball with a flashstep that could make any Bleach fan go for an encore performance.

"Not bad... That little trick managed to remove my Deathly Hallow in one shot, but have you gone up against my Persona counterpart in The Reaper, and lived to tell the tale? I bet you haven't. After all, a pitiful mortal like you would hardly stand a chance against an INSTA-KILL Megidolaon." Death chuckled as he yet again chucked two Sickles at Tomoko.

Death would then swoop in with his scythe spinning like a buzz-saw to make her bleed profusely, if she could attempt to evade this, she would earn death's respect.

"Hmm, no. I just heard of him and how he was some powerful being. I was stuck in a train for a year and even then, I would probably not even me---However Tomoko was interrupted when Death managed to land all of his attacks on her, which caused her to start bleeding from her side thanks to his scythe and get frozen, along with getting hit by Death's twin sickles. She landed on the ground soon after breaking free from her ice prison, breathing heavily before getting up.

She looked at Death and decided to go all out by using her two special moves that she hasn't used yet. "Well time to make up for not dodging there." Tomoko opened her spellbook and proceeded to use megido & materzi on Death, causing boulders and a large blast to be shot towards him.

“Nonsense! Hurry on now and get our limited-edition t-shirts with their most famous catchphrases right on the back! I think we might only have two or three! Who could forget iconic phrases such as ‘oh god, crap, effin heck’ and ‘try not to disappoint.’”

“I’m fairly certain that Surge said that last one…”

“Poppycock! Our printing press works very hard to ensure authenticity! Does that not sound like something Death would say!?”

“…I can’t deny that. He seems fairly condescending all things considered.”

Death was quite impressed by the girl enough already to confirm his keen suspicions on her potentially being a possible thorn in his plans to resurrect Dracula, but she didn't know about that and death was not planning on telling the world or this girl his big plans.

Death would attempt to shield himself from the first hit but due to his already weakened defenses, his personal space bubble would be shattered.

Death would not be deterred by the Materzi and simply performed a SONIDO{Sound Step} to prevent the spell from landing.

Death's dodging of the second spell also left a bit of an impact as the revolver missed him entirely.
DEX ROLL B: 8+1=9{"TOO SLOW, YOU'LL NEVER STOP ME NOW!"}

Death would materialise again but behind Tomoko and his socketless eyes were looking pretty ominous indeed, but not to the point where he would give a flying frack to put up with this. "Okay girlie, sadistic choice time; Will you best me and win by fair judgement based on results, or will you do as you promised by beating me to death and face a possible 3 month ban from fighting in the arena by incurring the wrath of the referee, pick your poison cause time is short and not on your side or mine for that matter." Death said darkly, beady red dots coming to life inside his sockets that soon flickered out to show he was indeed holding an honorable code of conduct in spite of his alignment.

And regardless of the alignment, Death let loose the most Badass of boasts which meant that Death was dead serious. "In the name of the master... I shall feast on your soul this night." were his only words to Tomoko which would tell her that Death would be more cruel from here on out.

And to kick things off, Death would launch into hurling the usual jet black sphere at her to make her stay frozen.

Then he would further make her bleed by attempting to hit her with his scythe spinning like a saw blade.

Then finish the job with his scythe at the ready and unleashed the biggest swing he could muster, the absurdly sharp sinister scythe slicing through the air with intent to cripple the child before him.

Tomoko was apparently faced with a choice by Death, although to her, the choice wasn't really...Sadistic. If the choice was sadistic to her it would be something like you have to choose between two people to live, the other will die, or the same thing but it's a whole universe instead. Surface to say, Tomoko has already made her choice. "Simple, I will win by fair judgement. I mean if I do take my word and finish you off, I would be no better then a chaotic pe---Tomoko was interrupted when Death yet again did another successful row of attacks on her, causing her to get bigger cuts across her body then she did before.

She also became frozen, but she managed to unfreeze herself yet again and jumped forward. She couldn't use her powerful attacks again, by the time she did, the match would be over, however she can still use her agi and aqua. Tomoko opened her spell book and moved it forward for Death to see.

"I'm not going down that easily...Death!" Tomoko began to cast an agi and aqua spell towards Death again, determined to win...In a way that won't kill Death, if such a thing is possible well because he's...Death.
