Crack! The sound of a shell impacting pavement was heard as Raffine heel dropped a koopa to the ground. Raffine stepped onto the koopa with one foot, holding the unscrupulous turtle creature to the ground on the off chance that he decided to stand back up for another round of pain; he did not. "Do let me know when you've learned how to treat a lady. That looked like it hurt~" Raffine remarked in a condescending tone, but received no response. Either this koopa was playing dead, or he was knocked the heck out. Either way, Raffine kept a close watch on him to see what he did. He was no threat under her foot, short of any cartoon level shenanigans, so she felt comfortable waiting here for a moment to make sure he didn't just get back up and attack her the moment she let him go.

(...Wonderful performance. Now take that which belongs to you.)

Raffine snapped to attention as a voice invaded her head. It was not an unfamiliar voice. It had spoken to her the day she'd she'd taken that artifact from the depths of the earth. However, it had been silent since their introduction for quite some time. She'd almost begun to forget it had existed. "...What?" Raffine replied aloud in bemusement.

(Take. His. Soul.)

"...Oh, how direct. You would like that, wouldn't you?" Raffine remarked with clear distaste and disregard for the command, placing a hand upon her hip. This ... thing had some nerve, talking to her like that.

(What's the matter? It's not like he's using it~ Go on... Just pluck it from his frail little body. He might even thank you, for making him a part of something greater than himself~! Gyahahaha!)

"...My body is a temple, and I won't have some slimy turtle's 'souls' running amuck in it!" Raffine retorted in mild disgust, apparently unimpressed by the spirit's flowery words. She turned her gaze away from the koopa, letting her guard down for a moment. This was beginning to make her a little uncomfortable. Thankfully, this was of little consequence.

(Oh, but is that really all it is..? Raffine... How does it feel to be showed up by that rival of yours? Perhaps you could ask Amitie to teach you how to cast a spell, hmm~?)

Raffine went silent at that remark, just sort of flinching as the wind was stolen from her sails. The now bitter girl chose not to dignify the voice with a response, mostly because she wasn't sure she could open her mouth without her dignity escaping.

(...You deserve so much better, isn't that right? There is another way... All you have to do is take his soul. Think of it no more intimately than stopping to have a drink~ He is yours to use as you please...)

Raffine was silent for a long moment. Meanwhile, a group of rather rebellious looking koopas were attempting to sneak up on Raffine from behind. There were about 8 of them, all wearing the same blue shells. If one paid attention, there was an insignia on the shells' backs, probably some sort of badge of allegiance. "...You must think I'm really stupid." Raffine blurted out after the moment passed, startling the koopas. They all stopped and looked at eachother. Had she somehow seen them? Was that saying about women having eyes in the backs of their head actually true?! "...but I know dark magic when I hear it, and I'm not interested." Raffine continued. She was entirely oblivious to the gang creeping up on her.

Did somebody say...dark magic~? Schezo swooped in to strike at the gang. They should have tried to jump her while she was distracted, but they didn't. The Dark Wizard took advantage of this and struck them while the gang distracted themselves, casting his magic. If Raffine were vigilant, there would be a violet glow, accompanied with the dark magic circle under the gang's feet.

Raspberyl arrived on the scene, apparently coming in late; Schezo was already helping Raffine by hurting the Koopas with some kind of spell. A human, using magic? She'd seen it before, but it was uncommon and kind of strange for her. In any case, she'd skid to a halt before pulling out her spellbook, opening it in front of her. "Time for some Uncanny Magic!" She spoke, casting the spell on one of the Koopas. She was still getting used to using magic in this weird world; hopefully she'd be able to cast it on multiple targets some time in the future.

Raffine was surprised by the distinct sound of several koopas crying out, followed by a gust of wind tickling her legs. The pinkette just sort of glanced over her shoulder ever so casually, raising a brow at Schezo's choice of words. It was probably her job to correct him, but right now was simply not the proper time for an English lesson. The danger was, after all, immediate. Raffine did, however, catch sight of a magic residue that was color coded for her convenience. She could not, however, comprehend the thought that her prince was a user of dark magics, however, and promptly associated this darkness with the koopa gang instead without a second thought. "...Ah. Prince Schezo. Deja vu has never felt so nice~" Raffine remarked, quietly taking inventory of the goons before her. The fighting princess looked a little worse for wear from her previous scuffle but was otherwise fighting fit. It was then that she locked eyes with Rasberyl. Hold on now, that girl had horns ... and wings. How unnerving. Raffine did not have time to comment on this, however, because the koopas had just finished re-organizing.

Raffine for one was unable to get out of the way of the rapidly moving shell and it caught her mid-leap, knocking her over in the air and nearly forcing her to the pavement. She managed to catch herself in time, but not before sustaining bruises to her lovely legs. Far from down and out, though, Raffine bounced back up and leaped into the air, flinging herself above the koopa that dared to brutalize her. One probably ought not to do such extreme acrobatics in a skirt that short, but Raffine had other things on her mind than who might be looking up at that moment.

"Avalanche!" Raffine called out, a powerful surge of supernatural frost wrapping around her legs as she plumetted towards the koopa.

Raffine crashed down onto the Koopa with immense force, instantly knocking him onto his back with a very loud crack. The icy magic enveloping her lower half dispersed across the koopa's body, freezing him to the ground in a helpless state. Raffine laid crouched atop the koopa, gazing down at him with contempt. "And just what did you intend to do with that dark magic, hmm~?" Raffine asked in a sugar sweet tone. "Would you make a damsel out of me?? ...Or perhaps--...Ah." Rafine went on to demand, only to trail off in slow realization. "Seems I've knocked you out cold~" Raffine remarked. Not too loud, woman, or you'll attract ghosts!

The remaining koopas weren't looking all that well off. It wouldn't take too much to finish them off, but for some reason they seemed intent on fighting to the bitter end. Why could that be, unless..?

"T'is but a duty."

Schezo flicked part of his bangs away from his face. Wouldn't want it to get it in the way. He seems to have showed up at the right time, seeing as most of the gang got wiped out by the wave of magic. However, there was not much time to idle around and talk, for there were koopas incoming at the trio.

He didn't have much reaction time to avoid the shell, getting struck right in the gut. Ouch. He'll endure nonetheless, but it would've helped if he had time to put on a bell to evade the attack. Ah, but the prince Dark Wizard just had an idea up his sleeve. Schezo took out an orange-colored stone and held it out in front of him.

"Let's see what this stone can do!"

And with a flash of light, Schezo got a sudden costume change! In place of his swordsman attire is a black fur coat, a tie with a little bell, and cute fuzzy cat eats protruding from his head. Raising his free hand into the air, he called upon a little kitty to aid him in combat.

From nowhere, a cute black and white cat jumped out to Schezo's side. With the attack fresh on his mind, Schezo had the cat roll up into a ball, allowing him to bowl over the gang. It's not a shell, but it's close enough.

Raspberyl noticed neither of the two others seemed to say anything to each other, and she took note that they seemed to know each other. Perhaps it was rude of an outsider to pitch in, but Raspberyl honestly didn't care. She wanted to help, and she was already there, so why not? What were these little fellas, anyway..? She'd never seen them before. There were so many strange things in Li...

Raspberyl was hit head-on by the koopa's shell, yelping as she fell back. She'd quickly get back up on her feet with a huff, "Looks like somebody needs to teach you lot some manners!"

 How dare they attack her like that! She'd need to be more perceptive, because obviously these goons weren't messing around. She whipped her spell book out and attempted to grab one of the Koopas with it, preparing to use her Blood Drive attack.

"Absolutely." Raffine chimed in upon hearing Raspberyl's remark, only for an actual cat to be sent flying into the remaining koopas as they attempted to re-assemble. A crack was heard followed by an angry cat noise, the koopas attempting to get back up to no avail. This time, they were down for the count. It seemed Rasberyl would have no targets left for her spell. ...More importantly, though, had anyone else seen that weaponized cat? Raffine's eyes were wide with bemusement. Who the hell kicked a cat at the gangsters?! She turned to investigate the source, only to discover...

" . . . Speaking of feline companions. Prince Schezo, your new look is as unexpected as it is curious." Raffine remarked. She was quietly debating whether she was into this or not. She couldn't help but wonder if Schezo might let her buy him a lovely collar professing their love? ...Why was she suddenly imagining herself wearing such a collar? Raffine quickly shook such thoughts from her head. No, no... As amusing as those thoughts were, that wasn't the type of relationship she wanted. Too little dignity for her tastes.

(What makes you think he's interested in a fraudulent mage like you?)

The return of the voice in Raffine's head caused her to flinch. She'd been distracted by the fight and the unexpected dagger in her pride caused her to seize up with rage. Raffine had to bite her tongue for fear of appearing insane before her saviors, but one could just see her mood had suddenly and inexplicably shifted to one of sharp upset.

(...No answer, huh? He's rather charming if I do say so myself. At least a 9. He's a very skilled wizard, you know. His soul has aged like a very fine wine... Where do you suppose you stack up, do you think? ...Do you think he'll be able to settle for a generous three~?)

Raffine winced. She promptly turned around in an attempt to hide the tears that sprung forth. She quietly vowed to find a way to destroy this damned orb for its wrongful judgment of her. The group had a moment to breath.

"Eh?"

Schezo, however, was unaware that the costume change was one of the effects of the Asterisk he's used. Upon looking at himself, he noticed his cape was a coat instead. His tie even has a shiny bell attached!

"Oh, uh... About that...It appears that stone that I utilized also gave me this ensemble shift."

Schezo stroked the fur trim, taking in the fluffiness of it yet not noticing the set of ears protruding on his head. The cat casually prowled back to Schezo's side as if the shell kick move had never happened. Must be one hardy feline to take a hit like that! Schezo crouched down to the cat and scratches it behind the ear as a 'good job' for the attack. After he pet the sturdy kitty, he turned to notice her getting a bit distressed. Schezo's not one to be overtly emotional, and yet he is sharp enough to catch on everyone else's. After all...Schezo wouldn't dare to show tears himself.

"Is something the matter, Raffine?"

Unfortunately, Schezo has not a single healing spell in his repertoire to patch Raffine up. The cat walked up to Raffine, curious about her.

Raspberyl would blink a bit as she saw her spell wasn't needed, and she'd cancel the spell, closing her book, smiling at the other two. Raffine suddenly looked upset, and Raspberyl quickly rushed to her side. "Hey, we won! It's alright! No need to be freaked out! I may look like a monster but I promise I'm friendly as can be!" Raspberyl chimed in an attempt to cheer Raffine up and assure her that things would be alright. She waved to Schezo in greeting as well, in an attempt to introduce herself at least before some kind of other tragedy hit. "I love your cat outfit!" She added to Schezo with a smile. Raspberyl was curious as to where he'd gotten such an interesting stone... She had tons of questions and not a lot of answers. She glanced around; that had seemed too easy. Were there more enemies on the way..? 
Just like Schezo, she also didn't have any healing spells, and would have gladly healed her new 'allies'. Beryl took note for next time she went on a rescue mission, it'd probably be best to bring some kind of supplies instead of just coming with her spell book.

Raffine nearly jumped when Raspberry came to her aid, turning and revealing a strikingly uncomposed and honest expression. Tears did stain her cheeks, but she quickly began to dab them away with a hankerchief. "...I'm fine. My eyes are just a little... disobedient, is all." Raffine replied rather softly, plastering a half-hearted smile back on her face. She was pretty good at faking those.

"Yeah, what's with the waterworks princess~?" a mocking voice called. Backup had arrived. Thankfully, the Koopa was not nearly as good at hurting Raffine's feelings. "We haven't even given you a good reason to cry yet!" another Koopa remarked. They were closing in on the group from all sides. These Koopa were armed with weapons, from daggers to num chucks to one Koopa who promptly lit a Bob omb. He'd probably be tossing that soon, preferably before the fuse ran out.

"You'd do well to show this princess some respect." Raffine warned in an unamused tone. "...Yeah, well. What goes around comes around, m'lady." the Koopa remarked bitterly. Nobody respected them. They were koopas. "In that case, by my royal decree I find you in contempt! Prepare to feel the legs of a proper lady." Raffine replied, turning her nose up at the koopa. He recoiled slightly, put off by Raffine's choice of words. "...Ain't he like, your fiance or something? He's right there." the Koopa asked in disbelief, earning himself an eye roll from Raffine. She declined to dignify that with a response, turning to Raspberyl as the koopas hesitated a moment to attack in general confusion. She crouched down to pet the summoned cat a bit on the head before speaking. "You're quite nice--for a ...'monster', as you put it?" Raffine remarked, allowing her curiosity to show.

Schezo won't question it. Not now, at least. That would certainly be a very tactless thing to do in this situation and would likely ruin her morale. Though, he was taken aback Raspberyl's comment on liking Schezo's more feline appearance. He's not expecting compliments from anyone, considering who he is. He shook his head to regain composure. Wouldn't want to gush about the cuteness of cats at a time like this. That's is not very dignified of him, especially when another wave of Koopas are coming to get under Raffine's skin.

"Hmph. I'm afraid your pointless skimble-skamble has a time other than now. Perhaps you will like to join your brethren by the hand of I, Schezo Wegey?"

Schezo went over to Raffine's side, sword in hand ready to attack. After the cat was pet, it dashed back to Schezo's side, giving off a hostile glare and stance at the gang as it prepared itself as well.

Raspberyl smiled at Raffine when she seemed to compose herself, glad she was able to get herself together. When she went to ask if there was anything she could do to help Raffine feel better, the Koopas appeared, rather rudely. Raspberyl would be also be pleased with Raffine's quick recovery; she was easily able to snap back retorts at the Koopas and seemed to have gotten herself in order. 
Beryl had no idea of Schezo's reputation and had simply assumed he was a knight of some sort trying to protect his 'Princess', as the Koopas had called Raffine. The two reminded her of her old friends Sapphire and Almaz, although thankfully Schezo was a bit less timid than Almaz was. It made Beryl feel she could trust both of them, given how the pair seemed to at least minorly reflect her old friends. 
At Raffine's question, she grinned, "Oh, yes! My name's Raspberyl, I'm a demon from Maritsu Evil Academy, a school for young demons. I'm a delinquent, though, so I promise I'm polite as can be!" Raspberyl would puff out her chest a bit, as if proud of this title. She took her 'job' very seriously. 
As Raspberyl noticed the Koopa with the Bob-Bomb, she gained a wonderful idea and got her spellbook, preparing to cast Uncanny Magic again, hoping to have the bomb-like creature blow up in the Koopa's face.

" . . . Yeah. Sure. Got a few hours? You might be here a while." The koopa remarked, apparently unthreatened by Schezo's words. It seemed like bystanders had cleared out and now only dozens of koopas remained, all surrounding the group. They were severely outnumbered, which would make dodging attacks very difficult. While this was happening, Raffine was just sort of quietly pondering what Rasberyl meant by 'delinquint'. What was that supposed to imply..?

" . . . Until recently, I had no idea demons were real!" Raffine remarked, at a loss for a better way to explain her lack of understanding.

Raffine was busy getting distracted by the quiet desire to find out if Schezo's newfound ears were real when a shell promptly whipped by and plowd into her face, knocking her over onto her bottom. The poor girl had seen better days, but she quickly staggered back up, haphazardly holding the bruise beginning to form on her cheek. "That's it!" Raffine remarked in an aggressively dismissive tone, Koopas were already rushing the group, attempting to overwhelm them, as she spoke.

Meanwhile, Raffine perched upon one leg and performed a very impressive series of kicks at incoming koopas without ever putting her foot down.

Yet, she was having a difficult time landing her kicks, with koopas sliding underneath and over her legs as their kicked partners gave them an opening to attack. They dogpiled Raffine and managed to tip her over, bringing her down and managing to bash her head against the ground in the process. That looked like it hurt.

Like Raffine, he was not so fortunate in dodging the attack, getting flung into a wall. Likewise, the cat got flung into the air, disappearing into a puff of magic after letting out a paind meow. Oh boy, this does not look good at all. First off, he's going to need to fend them off somehow, attacking with a cluster of dark, venomous orbs.

Well...that didn't go too well. Switching his sword grip, he pointed towards the gang to fire a volley of arrows.

Then after, he took out what appears to be a rather large tomato with a M on it. He was going to save it for emergencies, but right now sounds like one for Raffine. He took the food and handed it to Raffine, seeing that she'll need it more than he will at the moment. Though, it's strange for him to actually help someone. Why so?

Raspberyl saw the Koopa's shell out of the corner of her eye and quickly dove to the side, rolling and standing again, successfully avoiding the attack. It seemed her new friends weren't as lucky and she quickly prepared to strike at the nearby Koopas, casting her Volunteer spell at them. "You guys just won't let up, will you?!" She aimed to get them away from Raffine, and hopefully to attract their attention away from the others.
