As the landscape stretched far into the horizon, Icicle Peak extended past the vertical line of sight.
How high was this mountain? Some say it extended beyond the warm sunlight, into the cold, northern lit, night sky.
Who knew for sure? Its peak was hidden well beyond a swirling blizzard of clouds.
The higher up they went, the darker a shade of purple painted the clouds.

Far below, at the wide base of the mountain, green with frozen algae, two twin parka clad figures stood in wait.
A boy in blue and a girl in pink. Over their shoulders, they each wielded a wooden mallet, in their hands, each other's hands.

"So Beautiful..." Nana sighed in adoration.It wasn't often she got a look at it from the bottom.
"Yup." Popo agreed.
"Why don't we climb?" Nana asked Popo eagerly
"Too dangerous. You saw monsters. Mountain is dangerous; Not safe to go alone."
"But we're not alone; You have me, I have you, You and me are We!" Nana encouraged, taking Popo by his hands.
"And We're stronger than you or me! Mountain needs our help!"
"But We are not strong Enough!...Nana, don't cry!" Popo was quick to comfort his partner with a hug. 
"We'll climb when help comes! We'll save mountain!"
"Not that..." Nana sniffled, wiping her face "Just... -sniff- so hungry."
"Oh. Me too." Popo agreed. Looking over Nana's shoulder, Popo spied a sillouette coming through the fog.
"Nana! Look! Help is here!"

As Popo said, help was indeed here. From apparently nowhere, Greninja hopped into the Ice Climber's field of view. Granted, it was to be expected from...you know, a Ninja Frog Pokémon, so it wouldn't be helped if the two...kids(?)...were scared.

The Pokémon gazed upon the gigantic peak, and that gaze was apparently good enough to notice that the mountain reeked with evil forces. Greninja could only ponder who's doing was it for now, unfortunately.

Greninja turned to the Ice Climbers, and waved. "Gre. (Hello.)" He began. "Grenin, Greninja. (I am Greninja, your partner for this mission. I am looking forward to working together with you.)"

Now just to wait if they understood him. If not...well, sign language could work.

Link walked to the mountain with his White Sword and Shield in hand. They were fairly balanced weapons though his sword and shields were pretty much the same here. His Master Sword was the only one with real power behind it. That one was meant to seal a piece of evil though so he only summoned it for emergencies. His sword and shield rested on his back as he gazed up at the tall peak.

One would surmise the Fire Rod more valuable for this sort of quest. Link however knew the Sword and Shield allowed him to be a bit more mobile. Besides, his scarf and chainmail tunic provided plenty of heat. His scarf flowed behind him with a lot less likely of a chance of melting things that probably should not be melted.

He looked forward and noticed some kind of Ninja Frog and two small guys in eskimo outfits. Something told him those guys were the Ice Climbers he was supposed to aide. Might have something to do with one of his past incarnations. Link walked forward and extended a hand for all three of them. "You must be the Ice Climbers. Link is here to help. Nice Tongue Scarf," Link introdcued himself while admiring the Greninja's Fashion Sense... whether or not it was an actual fashion sense or just how his biology worked.

Silver walked  to the large, snowy mountain followed by a Weavile that was only slightly shorter than him. The young boy looked up at the mountain, marveling at its size and beauty, his eyes filled with wonder (Or at least enough wonder he could convey) for what lied atop its peak. He was lost in thought, possibilities flew by through his head like a high-speed projector as he maintained a blank expression.

Aside from the first sillouette, another figure hopped down in front of the Ice Climbers. This startled them into a fighting stance, with mallets ready.
"Ay? Wait Nana! Ninja frog friendly!" Popo quickly realized, lowering his mallet.
"Phew." Nana sighed in relief. They both lowered their mallets and proceeded to greet the pokemon.

"Wow your legs!" Popo admired at Greninja's thighs and calves. "You must jump high! Kick strong! Smash Super! Must be amazing!What's it like?" Popo asked, excitedly hopping up and down. What's Smashing Like?" Popo cut himself off before noticing Nana's pouting glare at him over his shoulder. "Wha?" Popo played dumb sheepishly. Nana simply looked the other way with a "humpf" at his insensitivity as she saw the first silhouette come into clear view.

"Hello Handsome!" Nana whistled, wandering up to the Hyrule warrior. "Fancy scarf!~"
she complimented, walking around him to get a better look at it. "And cool sword!" she added upon finding Link's sword and shield on his back.

Not to be outdone Popo shuffled over to the next person to arrive, Silver. He looked up at Silver with a look of excitement, that his expression didn't match.
"Ay! Nice...Um." Popo tried looking forward at his Weavile, in it's intimidating face, unsure what to make of it. "P-Pokemon..."

Nana escorted Popo into a huddle.
"Can we trust them?"
"None else answered. Best we've got. Pretty cool, yup?" Popo shrugged encouragingly.
"...Yup." Nana nodded in agreement. They turned around to address their new allies.

Greninja found himself blushing due to the compliments he was getting. Sure, he was a ninja, but should you hit the right spots, he could be a great definition of dork. The gushing male Ice Climber did not help things.



“G-Gree…(W-well…)” He began, but never finished, due to said Ice Climber diverging his attention to the other newcomer and his Weavile. Nm.



Now was a time as good as any to analyze his allies. One was a knight, apparently named Link. Green tunic, sword and shield. He seemed to be of average strength and speed. An offhand note was that his scarf looked pretty cool.



The other one was a kid...probably a Pokémon Trainer, judging by the Weavile next to him. He wasn’t exactly sure on what to make of the kid, other that he’s small and should stay away from danger at all costs, due to being just a normal human. The less he said about Weavile, the better.



Finally, the mission issuers themselves looked mildly competent solo. They seemed much more powerful and confident when working together, as self-demonstrated by their body language when they were next to each other. Their knowledge on normal human language seemed limited at best, but enough to be comprehensible.


...This was going to be an interesting mission at best.


“Greninja. (Hello, Link and young child.)” He waved at his fellow allies. “Grenin. Ninja, grenin. (I am Greninja. And please, do refrain from complimenting my tongue-scarf, Sir Link, for yours I consider to be far more superior.)”

Link an eyebrow in confusion at Nana as she greeted him. She was just going around complimenting his person but it felt... Awkward to him for some reason. Was she actually meaningful in that or was she trying to compete with her brother? Popo definitely seemed trying to compete as he could not really find a compliment for him. The other guy did not really bring much attention to Link. He did not really stand out in any way to the Warrior.

As for the Greninja, he tongue scarf was about as cool as his real one that flowed in the wind. He could not understand the Greninja at all... But he did get when there was talk of scarfs... Call it a mental bond of scarf lovers. He also deducted he was going by the name he was repeating.... He was luckily right. "This scarf. I guess it is pretty cool. Still, your tongue scarf is not that bad either. Does it actually taste the air?" Link asked... even if he had a pretty good chance of not understanding.

Silver turned to the two Eskimo children. "Thank you." He said. "You two are... small." Silver didn't have much in terms of social skills due to his past of being captive and forced to steal in order to survive.

The young trainer got on his knees in an attempt to get at the level of the small children. "My name is Silver." He stated, plainly introducing himself. "What is it you need of me?"

Silver's Weavile looked at the children, sniffing at them and wondering if they were food.

It was about time the Ice Climbers formally introduced themselves and explained what was going on.
"Popo." Popo introduced, gesturing to himself.
"Nana." Nana introduced in identical fassion, gesturing to herself.
"Ice Climbers," they announced their team name, grabbing each other's free hand for emphasis.
"Mountain!" They introduced Icicle Peak itself, by raising their joined hands and then letting go to gesture up toward Icicle Peak.


"We climb mountain." "Hup, Hup!" Nana added, jumping up and down as if climbing.
"We see danger?" "Wah wah!" Nana simulated panic, holding her hands on her cheeks, mouth agape.
"We fight danger!" "Ha! Ha!" Nana barked, swinging her mallet back and fourth.
"We find veggies? we eat veggies!" "Mmm-Mmm!" Nana smiled rubbing her tummy.

"But!"  Popo interrupted,
"Before we go, we have rules:" "Very important" Nana nodded.
"Rule 1: stay warm." "Warm" Nana emphasised, showing off her parka.
"Rule 2: Climb with Partner." "Partner!" Nana showed off, high fiving Popo.
"Rule 3: No loud noises." "Like this:" Nana was about to demonstrate, taking a deep breath. Popo quickly covered her mouth shaking his head No.
"And Most important, Rule 4: Be Careful! Ice cold, ice slippery. You slip, you fall, all way down. That's why you have partner."
"Partner!" Nana demonstrated, falsely slipping on the floor and catching herself on Popo.

"And Beware: Mountain's more dangerous than ever." Popo lamented as he pulled Nana up. "Strange Purple Monsters!" Nana shuddered. "We need your help."
"Any questions?" Popo nodded, making a last call before the expedition started.

Greninja found himself blushing once again as Link complimented his tongue-scarf once again. He also let out a snicker with the question about 'tasting air'.
 "Greninja, gre. (I'll let you know that air has no taste, Sir Link. That means a 'yes'.) " He retorted in jest to the fellow scarf warrior while also nodding his head.

The Ninja Frog Pokémon watched the Ice Climbers introduce themselves and what they would do (which it was already stated beforehand, but he let it slide). If there was another thing he learned about Popo and Nana...is that they were certainly enthusiastic. Energetic as well, considering they seemingly climbed that mountain before. Greninja found it kinda funny and charming the fact they had to say the ice was slippery. The comparison to 'the sky is blue' already popped into his head.

Then came the talk of the purple monsters...ah yes, the so-called 'infected'. They were told to be extremely dangerous due to the virus corrupting them. What kind of vile disease was that, to take a body, a life and claim it as their own? He knew that it was some sort of virus, but still, this enraged Greninja.

...And it also hurt him to see other lives taken by a disease.

Greninja promptly hand-waved. "Grenin. Ninja, gren. (Don't worry about me. I'm resistant to cold and I have experience on steep hills.)" He calmly said in a humble manner. There was something to brag here, ice cold territories were not a problem for the Ninja Frog. Yet he decides not to take much pride in his skills, due to his firm belief that pride could easily destroy you.

...It already happened to him once, so he needed to be sure it didn't happen again.

Link listened to Greninja... Though how much he understood was questionable he seemed amused with the ninja frog's response... The Hylian already felt a strong bond with the Pokemon despite them just meeting. It was almost like it was his destiny... Or maybe it is looking too far into two guys with an interest in scarves in common...

Either way, the duo gave their intro in a rather duet manner. It was nice seeing the two in such great sync with each other. He gave a nod in understanding as all the rules made sense and were pretty essential in most cases. Staying warm was fundamental in the cold, two forces united were often better than one, do not call too much attention to yourselves/disrupt the environment, and Hyrule Field is green.

"No questions here. I already have my partner and my scarf and chainmail is rather hot so keeping warm won't be an issue," Link replied as he raised his hand to Greninja for a High Five. Seems like he wanted the Ninja Frog to be his partner in this climb... Which made sense given Silver already had a Weavile and they came alone, not to mention their already seemingly good bond.

Silver held his Weavile and said. "I have my partner too. When do we get started?" Although Silver didn't look it, he was incredibly eager to climb the mountain.

The weasel Pokemon jumped out of Silver's arms and ran to Greninja. "Listen here, pal. I'm the only ninja around here." He threatened the ninja frog in his special little Pokemon language. "I suggest you get outta here before I have to use violence." Weavile retracted his claws as a way to show that he's not playing around. However, before Weavile could do anything serious, Silver picked his Pokemon up, holding it in his arms.

Silver pet his beloved companion, calming him down and putting a smile on his face.

"Greninja and Link," Popo confirmed their team up.
“Team Scarf!” Nana dubbed them.
"Silver and Weavile." Popo officiated their partnership.
“Team….Silvile?” Nana dubbed them, scratching her noggin. They shrugged at each other and nodded in agreement.
"Yup, We're ready." Popo nodded at last.
“We start now!” Nana cheered.

Hand in hand, the Ice Climbers lead Team Scarf and Team Silvile up the base of the mountain to the first floor. The term floor seemed to accurately described the oddly flat mountain shelf. Curiously the steep mountain parted itself early on, with layers of mossy ice and rock bridging the gap between them. The path forward didn’t seem to lead any higher. There was another mountain shelf a bit further up. But it was straight up, at an angle too step to walk. This was where the hiking would stop and the Climbing would begin.
There was also conspicuous number 1’s carved into both sides of the mountain.

As they boarded the first floor, the Ice Climbers suddenly stopped in their tracks.
“Nana Look!” Popo gasped.
A blue pinniped was blubbering across the ice. Between its flippers, it held...A vegetable!

“This dewicious wittle week wight hewe wiww suwewy wast me a wong week at weast!
How wucky am I?”

"Leek..." Nana's mouth began to water.
The seal stopped in its tracks it noticed them too.

“I thought I saw an Ice Cwimbow!” 

the seal did a double take. 

“I did! I did see an Ice Cwimbow!” 

“You'we not going to stwike wittle old me; Pete the adowable bwue awtic seaw, with those gweat big mawets of youws, awe you?” 

the seal asked innocently with its great big puppy-dog eyes, clutching it's precious leak.

((Okay everybody, you each have the choice to either hit the seal and take its leek, or to just ignore it and keep climbing up the mountain. 

Be warned, the seal might go down easy, but there’ll be consequences for attacking an endangered species.))

Greninja instantly hi-fived Link the moment he prompted to. The Ninja Frog Pokémon already felt a deep bond knitting (no pun intended) with the fellow scarfed warrior. 

Of course, that moment was short-lived for him as the kid's Weavile came by and threatened him. He let out a quiet snicker as the Weavile spat out it's words and showed to him his claws. "Grenin. Gre, ninja. (Cute. You are willing to kill a random teammate because you want to be 'the only ninja' around here.)" Greninja soon hand-waved, seemingly shrugging off the words presented to him.

With the "teams" labeled, Greninja followed the Ice Climbers. Normally, he would up, up and away without a care in the world, but since he was assigned to a team (most specifically Link), he needed to slow down. For as simple as climbing a mountain was, he didn't have the same limitations as Link's species.

Humans are frail creatures, and need someone around them at all times.

Their trek came to a stop as the Ice Climbers spotted a seal carrying a leak. By the looks of it, the seal looked harmless and not worth attacking. Greninja promptly made a 'move' head motion to the seal, signalizing for it to leave.

(Greninja decided to ignore the seal.)

Link nodded at the teams and team names before looking at the Weavile talking to Greninja. He felt like there was a strong sense of spite in that animal. Of course he did not know for sure since he was incapable of speaking Pokemon, however he was pretty confident in the deduction. He knew a thing or two about noticing the things going on in his surroundings. Still, can't really call it out since he could easily be mistaken. Relying on your senses can be immensely helpful but sometimes they can mislead you. So for now he will just keep a close eye on that team in case something does come up.

So Link climbed the mountain and made sure to stick by his partner. He was nimble in evading the parts he felt was bad to step and took caution. Sure, he can move swiftly forward but he was assigned a partner for a reason. Sure, Link was incredibly agile but even he could make mistakes and being alone when making a mistake on a mountain would end badly. Besides, there was not that much of a hurry for the Hylian Warrior.

... And then a seal appeared and Link paused for a moment... That guy was definitely holding a leak in his hands. The Ice Climbers seemed interested in it too... Regardless, Link did not draw his sword and just kept following Greninja. There was no reason to strike the seal to him. It looked weak like those countless enemies he has dispatched in the war. However, this guy did not seem evil in the slightest and Link was not interested in harming an innocent bystander unless they wanted to or gave him good reason to. So he ignored the Seal.
