Wendy wobbled nervously on her heels, trying desperately to keep her jewellery from clattering as she extended out a heavily bangled arm and attempted to gently pet the Wiggler. She thought of numerous cute pets she'd bullied her father into capturing for her, not that any of those encounters ended up going particularly well... She gulped, and gave the Wiggler a stroke.

The titanic Wiggler was at peace for the briefest of moments before Mr. Game & Watch toddled his way over. The mighty caterpillar twinged in its sleep. Though, after Ludwig’s pats, its closed eyelids clamped down even harder with a small groan. Clearly, its sleep was slightly disturbed, but not enough to push it out from its rem-cycle. Shantae and Wendy though, it seemed to be almost unfazed whatsoever.

After he made his rounds with the Wiggler petting, G&W walked back to the area where they were spawned, watching his competition intently. He could only count in his head for how long Ludwig spent petting the caterpillar. It seemed like he was around the same amount of time, though very much risking a wake up call based on the Wiggler’s expression. Once more, Ludwig was proving to be the one to beat in this competition, though he was thinking that he only needed to make it through one more petting session to beat his score. In all likelihood, his arrogance was going to get the better of him. G&W knew better than anyone that the downfall from ego was the steepest.

Holding in his bleeping and blooping as best as he could, Mr. Game & Watch flip flopped his way back up to the sleeping Wiggler’s gigantic face once more, carefully gliding his amazingly smooth and infinitely flat hand across the creature’s almost plastic-like skin.

Hmmm that was close… Ludwig may have maintained a tied lead with Mr. Game & Whisper, but as effortless as it was, as Koopas were famous for their stealth, this was no time to get careless. Wigglers were far more famous for being temperamental.

Though one must wonder perhaps, was there a way to ensue a heavier sleep upon the Wiggler? A Music Box certainly did the trick for Hammer Bros.
Such measures should be left as a resort. Only fools play their best cards on what’s only the second round…

Wendy picked her large hairbow off her head and wipe the sweat away from her scalp before continuing. The pressure was on, and the Wiggler was visibly stirring. She tried to keep her petting as gentle as possible which, being Wendy O. Koopa, wasn't very gentle. But don't tell Wendy that.

[Mr. Game & Watch]

The gigantic wiggler was stirring. It seemed as though it was teetering on the edge of the waking world. Its eye nearly cracked open after being touch by Mr. Game & Watch. After Ludwig’s attempt though, it hardly felt a thing and whirred back in place, the snot bubble at the end of its nose forming once more. It expanded and deflated, but finally popped as Shantae laid her hand on the creature’s skin. It squirmed, clearly unsettled, but not awake just yet. Once Wendy had her claws on it, the Wiggler became restless, rocking in its sleep. The four were going to have a tough time petting the creature for long without waking it up at this point.

It was coming down to the wire. The Wiggler was really, well, wiggling. Its restful nap was most assuredly disturbed, but it was not awake yet. There were two camps here. Either, Mr. Game & Watch took the easy route and gave the bug a gentle tap and run off so that he could technically say that he had completed the task without any risk of waking the beast himself or he could go for longer and score more points than the rest could possibly receive and set up Ludwig for the fall. That said, if he stuck his neck out for too long, he might be the one getting bit for his mistake.

Once more, he approached the wiggler cautiously, though he supposed that it didn’t quite matter if he was subtle or not in his demeanour considering that the squirming giant was making more noise than he possibly ever could. At this moment, it was decide-time. Logically, it made sense to make the safe play, but Mr. Game & Watch was always a gambling man. No risk, no reward! He was going to pet this Wiggler even if skin was going to start to turn red!

[Mr. Game & Watch]

The risk had surpassed the reward! Mr. Game & Watch clearly overestimated the state at which the Wiggler was resting. Finally aware of the source of its discomfort, the Wiggler’s eyes sprung open, and just as quickly as it did, a fuming steam erupted from its earholes. Its entire body was coated in a rage fueled red, as if the fire within its belly had engulfed its whole body. The crazed beast’s now pupilless eyes narrowed onto the tiny flat man, gritting its teeth as if it was ready to chomp down on him for disturbing its slumber.

Stamping its feet, the raging red caterpillar chased after Mr. Game & Watch, chugging along like a steam train.

Descending from a porthole in the sky, MC Ballyhoo zipped back onto the scene. “AH HAH HA! Looks like someone never heard of the old proverb about not poking a sleeping bear!”

“Yeah, imagine that. Tell a bunch of people to disturb a giant animal when its sleeping and it’ll get mad at them. You’ve definitely taught us all a valuable lesson.”

“As I’m wont to do, Big Top!” Ballyhoo boasted without a hint of irony. As he puffed his chest out with confidence, a little chalk score board floated down from the ceiling and behind the enthusiastic presenter. “HA HA! I’ve tallied up all the score based on how many schmeconds you all spent petting our adorable Wiggler!” he continued, splaying his hand out to the massive caterpillar still rampaging in the background.

“Schmeconds?”

“They’re like seconds, but legally distinctive and more easily translated into a points system!” Ballyhoo laughed and then produced a piece of chalk from his bowtie. He then turned his attention to the chalk board. “Let’s see, Game & Watch, big X there. HMM, Ludwig, that’s five I believe… Shantae, carry the four… Wendy, that’s also four” he muttered to himself as the chalk scratched the board. In a quick snap, Ballyhoo turned around once more, presenting the results. “VOILA! The score of schmeconds has determined Ludwig Von Koopa as our victor! Round of applause everyone!”

While Ballyhoo’s attention was on the group, Big Top’s vision was focused on the distressed Mr. G&W trying to outpace the rampaging worm. “I don’t see Game & Watch clapping…”

Seemingly from the void above, a shower of 10 coins rained over Ludwig’s head. Instead of the hard metal thwomping onto his head like it logically would, it instead disappeared into his body, as if he was absorbing the wealth through his skin. “Don’t worry folks, there’s always next time! For now though, let’s get back to the board!” he announced. With a snapped of Ballyhoo’s fingers, almost as if they produced a solar flare, everything went white, then suddenly, they were back on the undersea board, right on the blue circle that each of them was on previously.

Upon changing scenery, Mr. G&W came to a skidding halt, falling flat on his face as he hit an invisible wall that kept him from moving forward without the aid of a dice. His head flipped back and forth, as if he was shaking his head, then gave himself a good couple smacks upside his head. Well, that certainly backfired worse than getting a one on his judgement hammer. Worse than that, his risk had put him in quite the compromising position. Not only was Ludwig closer to the star, but he could afford it too.

Thinking on his options to dig himself out of his self-made hole, he briefly looked at his inventory of items, only to find that his flashlight was anything but useful to his cause right now. Still, he was seven spaces from the star, and Ludwig was six, there were no guarantees until one of them was right next to it. Just as well, one of the other two could just as easily come in and steal the star from under both of their big noses. He supposed there was nothing he could do aside from rolling the dice and seeing where it took him.

Once the die appeared above his head, Game & Watch launched his head toward it with the help of his trampoline wielding firemen.

… There was never a worse time in Mr. Game & Watch’s life to roll a high number than just this very minute. Letting out a gurgling bleep as if he was being censored by a daytime television show, Mr. Game & Watch proceeded forward, waving his hand at Ludwig as if he didn’t even want to hear his snide remarks as he passed by the little brat.

With utmost contempt, he hopped along the trail of blue dots until he came to the second crossroad. If he went forward, he would be going right past the star. If he went right though… He could get lucky with the vending maching and end up with a much more helpful item. Who knows, Ludwig could get four ones. No, better yet, right here, right now, Mr. G&W would use his luck powers to manifest every single die roll from here on out made by Ludwig would be a one. Excellent, now he could use his superstitions as a strategy.

Turning right, Mr. G&W descended down the stairs of the ocean floor, landing in the space directly behind Wendy, crossing his arms and waiting for this horrid turn to be over already. Not even caring about the three coins falling through and into his head.

“One of these days? Any Second now one of you schreiende Damen are gonna wake the Wiggler if you keep talking to it!” Ludwig hissed back at Shantae. He flinched away from the Wiggler’s reformed snot bubble, not only because it was gross, but for the off chance the sound of it popping would wake the Wiggler.
All too soon enough, the Wiggler woke up. Ludwig reflexively retreated into his spiky shell for defence, but when it charged, it let him off Scott free. Upon emerging, he wiped his fluffy blue mane with relief that it was chasing Mr. Game & Watch instead. He’d advise to run in a zig-zag pattern, but could a two-dimensional man even do such a thing?

In all of the excitement, Ludwig hadn’t realized he lost track of how many points the rest of his opponents collected. Less than he did, to be sure…Which meant…
“Gwehehehaw! Victory is Mine!” He nimbly performed a 1990 spin on one hand culminating in a flip back onto his feet with a proud fist in the air. “Hear me and let it be known! It is I who will win the first Star!” He pointed that fist into a claw and levelled it at Wendy and Shantae.
Then from the void above, a shower of 10 coins rained down on Ludwig’s head, who leaned back with his mouth open wide to catch them on his tongue like raindrops. Better than lemon drops or gum drops! He couldn’t wait to get back to the board now.

Back in the big blue, Ludwig was first in line to move, with nothing in his way but 6 spaces. One of them a Red one.
“Gwehee, I don’t even need you yet, my pretty.” He admired his Mushroom as if it were a bust of his own face. “I’ll save you for my Next Star~.”
Choosing to roll the plain dice, Ludwig closed his eyes with a smug confident smile and stopped the dice with a single precision jab of his claw.

“Now then~: Eins, Zwei, Drei, Vier-VIER?!?” As if playing the most pretentious game of hopscotch, Ludwig skipped from space to space, tripping and falling onto the Red space upon realizing he could not go any further. “What The-? So Ein Mist! You Block-Headed Block!” Ludwig pulled on his hair and growled at the dice block as if it were still there.

"I don't think there's such a thing as Schmeconds..." Shantae said as she looks at the now pissed off Wiggler chasing the flat man. Shrugging and shaking her head at the loss but still determined to motivate herself in messing with Ludwig Von Koopa.

And now it was Shantae's turn to make her move and examines the map, actively plotting her course so as to annoy the competition and enjoy getting enough coins to ensure she had a good enough to buy the star should Ludwig Von Koopa aquire the first one.

Then she jumped into the air and brought down the Cutlass to impale the dice... And got a low roll.

Shantae would move two paces, but for the second panel, rather than take the shorter path to the star, she would take the longer route to ensure more money is earned by landing on the blue space that started that route, and got more coins for her quest.

Wendy cackled at the angry Wiggler chasing the two-dimensional bleeping guy like a comedy show put on for her entertainment. She made a mental note to tell King Dad to get her a Wiggler so she could sic it on minions or annoying brothers back at the castle. Maybe they should capture the flat man too, they made a good double act. She tapped a painted claw on her glossy lips thoughtfully and didn't pay attention as Ballyhoo suddenly warped them back.

The Koopaling was suddenly flash-banged back to the board and rubbed her eyes. When her vision returned, she greeted with a terrible view: Ludwig receiving the winning coins from the Wiggler challenge. The weird flat man also suddenly came round to the space behind her. Wendy pouted sulkily and started winding up her wand with a few practice swings. By the time the half-genie decided to take the long road up to gain some coins, the Koopette was itching to hop up and bash her block.

"Okay, we're moving!" Wendy shouted impatiently, charging forward one space and facing the vending machine that had given everyone else a toy on the first turn. The machine waved and before you could say 'bub-dub-bub-bub-bob' the Koopette caught a capsule in her outstretched hand.

Wendy looked down at her capsule and saw a miniaturized mean-faced tornado thrashing at its confinement within the plastic container. A storm in a bottle. Wendy gave a mischievous grin and stored the wicked toy away in her shell, continuing on. Two more spaces brought her to a fork in the road. Not wanting to be left too far behind, Wendy took the shorter route to the right landing on the first space on that track. Three more coins, hee-hee-hee!

[Mr. Game & Watch]

While still sulking over the last rotten turn he had, Mr. Game & Watch could still spark some enjoyment over the potential misery of his opponent. After all, when you’ve hit rock bottom, there was nothing left for you to do than to laugh at the expense of those above you. He was sure some philosopher had said it at some point. The first of the misers would be the man who was seemingly on the top of the world, Ludwig, whom he cast a curse to reduce all his rolls to be resulted in ones, however, he soon learnt that his curse didn’t come to fruition. There was one perk though, the koopaling landed on a red space instead. Chucking his head back, Mr. G&W let out an uproarious ringing laugh, something akin to a cell phone’s ringtone, pointing at the miserable turtle.

Of course, Shantae and Wendy didn’t have quite as awful turns for him to ridicule. The genie only moved a grand total of two spaces, but if the star were to move, she might be in a beneficial position, more beneficial than chasing after a star that might already be lost to Ludwig. Wendy on the other hand got her claws onto a capsule, one she gave a bit of a wicked smile to when she acquired it. It put the flat man at pause. He wasn’t sure what the item was, could be something just as useless as his flashlight, but he couldn’t be sure. The board was already becoming unpredictable, and they were only just ending their second turn.

Swimming back onto the scene, MC Ballyhoo took center stage once more! “AH HA HA! Looks like we’re just two spaces away from someone getting their first star! That’ll make this next mini-game all the sweeter, I say!”

Big Top drifted his eyes over to the capsule machine, then toward Wendy. “Potentially two spaces away from the star.”

“Very true, Big Top! In these types of parties, you can never know what random influence can change the whole course of the game! Speaking of…”

“AH HAH HA! I do like a good change of scenery! Goodbye undersea world!” he announced as he lifted his mic like a magic wand. The physical world all around the party goers began to warp and wave, as if everything was liquifying. As everything became an incomprehensible jello-like substance, its colours began to shift, and then it all reverted back into solids once more, only now the surroundings were a log cabin in the middle of a dense forest during winter. Ballyhoo could now be spotted riding atop a strange snow blower type machine with a massive throwing arm. “Hello snowy rural cabin! Ah, I think I could go for a mug of Mama Ballyhoo’s famous hot cocoa!” he continued as he leisurely laid back.

“There’s definitely something that doesn’t feel right about relaxing during a Mario Party.”

“You’re right, Big Top!” Ballyhoo announced as he jumped up to sit on the machine proper. “I need to go over the rules of this game! Release the unpaid intern!”

From the chimney of the log cabin, a Shy Guy popped out like he was exiting a warp pipe. After landing on the roof, he looked from side to side, rather confused about what he should be doing. Without any prompt, Ballyhoo pushed a button on the machine and its arm flung a massive snowball. It hit the unsuspecting Shy Guy, causing him to make his iconic whirring noise before turning into an icicle and sliding off the side of the roof. MC Ballyhoo turned back around and simply stated “Just do that three times!”

“… That was surprisingly concise.”

DA RULES
Ludwig:
You will be operating the machine. How many snowballs you can throw will operate based on the site’s combat actions mechanics, meaning you can make up to 3 throws before your accuracy will be greatly diminished. You may only target one person per snowball; however, you can target anyone as many times as you like. The snowball’s accuracy will be determined by a WIS roll, and it will deal 10% and has a 100% chance to freeze. You will have 3 turns (the turn counter starting at the beginning of Ludwig's first turn) to try and knock all three of your opponents off the roof of the cabin, but at the end of each turn, you may make an INT roll to try and discover a new function of the machine to help you in taking your opponents down (the INT roll does not count as a combat action).

Mr. Game & Watch, Shantae, and Wendy:
Your goal is to avoid Ludwig’s rain of fire(?) for 3 turns (turn 1 starting in Ludwig's next post). This will operate mostly the same as regular combat, however, you are only able to dodge. Bubble Shields cannot be used, however, if you have a move or ability that buffs your DEX stat temporarily, you may use it as long as it does not do damage (though like in combat, your dodge rolls come first before you can perform your buffing move, unless your move has otherwise stated priority). If you are hit by a snowball, you will take 10% damage and will be inflicted with the frozen status. Much like in regular combat, you may make a STR saving throw to break yourself out, rolling 14 or higher. However, you may not use a fire-based attack to unthaw yourself. Should you fail your saving throw, your icicled body will slide right off the roof, eliminating you from the game. You may still post your character reacting/cheering on your teammates, but in terms of post order, the next person in the queue is allowed to skip your turn to post.

“They didn’t call me Brief Ballyhoo for nothing!” As he cackled, he turned over to look at Ludwig. “Give ‘er a whirl! She’s all yours!” he claimed as he hopped off the machine.

Meanwhile, the trio of Shantae, Wendy, and Mr. Game & Watch would find themselves atop the roof of the log cabin.

“Set it to silent, Game & Lost, or I'll flatten you…Again!” Ludwig growled at the laughing LCD. Eyes darting around for anyone else mocking his misfortune, he spied Shantae deciding to take a detour from his prize. “That's right, street-dancing peasant, don't touch what you can't afford.” He sneered.

The same went for Wendy. Perhaps that Kremling roll wasn't so bad if it meant he could savor his opponents' broken dreams, all the more defensive and paranoid it might have made him.
There was something about Wendy's acquisition of a that Storm in a Bottle that caused the spines on Ludwig's back to stand on end. Those were the same canned cloudbursts they use to cloak airship assaults. Need he keep an eye on the sky now?

Speaking of an eye on the sky, an unidentified floating object appeared over Ludwig’s head. Strike that, it was identified: It was a ? Block! With so much to gain, Ludwig struck it.

“Gruwahahahar! This! This must be a sign! Providence! That Star is my Destiny!” He cackled triumphantly, gleefully dancing in a circle as the coins rained down upon him.

Time for a Mini-Game! This one a 3-v-1! A 3-v-Ludwig? Has it not been the case all game?
“A game of the Have vs the Have Nots? Very well!” Ludwig eagerly welcomed this opportunity to assert his dominance against the 2nd, 3rd and 4th placers. “Witness even more of my Ludwig Luck!” He cackled before the water washed away with a cool breeze.

“Brrr! A cold-blooded Koopa could catch a cold under these conditions!” Ludwig shivered, forced to breathe steam up to dry his hair to keep it from freezing.

Just one shot at the Shy Guy was enough to tell Ludwig everything he needed to know.
“Did you know that I’m Snow Machine Certified?” He’s driven Clown Cars, flown Airships and captained tanks. How hard could a snow plough be? “And just as any gentleman in my position would, I plan to take full advantage of her~...” Ludwig ominously chuckled as he took his seat and cracked his knuckles.

“Eenie, meany, weenie wurst, which of these chumps do I ice first?...” Ludwig counted his target with loose-wristed claws. “…The Genie!”

"Hey! These shoes ain't made for bein' on a diagonal, get me off this roof!" Wendy turned around in time to see her brother in a giant snow blower throwing snowballs at the genie. One managed to connect with the genie and sent her sliding off the roof as a giant ice cube.

"No-no-no, not like that!" Squealed Wendy as the machine inevitably rotated her way and lobbed a snowball at her.

[Mr. Game & Watch]

Of all places to be suddenly transported, Mr. Game & Watch was not keen on the cabin in the woods setup. For once, why couldn’t one of these mini-games happen at an island resort, on the beach side with plenty of his adoring fans to shroud him in love? This was more so the set of a horror film in the making, only accentuated by the fact that Ludwig had been given access to one of MC Ballyhoo’s metal death contraptions. Pity that, it seemed as though where he was warped to was also primed to be a small ring of death for Ludwig to huck snow balls at them. Though, maybe not.

Mr. Game & Watch hatched a clever little scheme inside his head. While they were open to getting whumped by Ludwig’s machine on this side of the roof, he could always duck low on the other side of it and win this game with ease! Stealthily, as Ludwig seemed to be focused elsewhere, G&W waddled toward the peak of the roof, letting out quiet blorping giggles as his plan seemed to be working, up until it wasn’t. His fat nose bumped off against the air in front of him as soon as he reached the peak of the house. Blast these invisible walls! All these three-dimensional worlds and their lazy excuses to keep him away from what he seeks!

Fine! It seems that he must deal with the hand he has been dealt. Or rather, coast things out as the sibling rivalry wages on. The genie was made quick work of, but it seemed that Wendy still had a pep in her step, which meant that Mr. G&W still had one shield left before he had to worry about himself. In which case, he pulled out the chair that he normally used for lion taming and instead used it for more practical purposes and took this moment to lean back and enjoy the lack of murderous caterpillar in this mini-game’s location.
