"I don't know, Kazooie," Banjo replied. "Does it matter? We're Video Game characters. This is a Video Game site. I don't think putting on weight is something we'll have to worry about. This isn't Nuts & Bolts."

"Heh. I know," she replied. "But these idiots don't know that. I bet I could make them feel self-conscious to throw them off their game. Hey Undyne! How many ca-"

Kazooie was interrupted by Banjo putting a finger on Kazooie's beak. While it might've worked, it was also really rude to try and ruin their chances like that.

Undyne, meanwhile, shrugged it off. Whatever reason Kazooie had to call out to her from several feet away was unclear, but it didn't matter, because they were there to compete, not chat.

That was the last bit of scheming that Kazooie had planned, so all they could do was sit and wait for the inevitable "GO!"

And after a short countdown, the competition began.

Banjo and Kazooie each began by taking a mouthful each. It wouldn't give them an edge mechanically, but it was simply the most efficient way to go about it. Since it was just the beginning, there was no worry of getting full yet. I mean, who gets full after a single mouthful?

Undyne was only one woman, so she couldn't do what her compatriots Banjo and Kazooie were doing, but that wouldn't slow her down. She picked up and chewed handfuls of the cake, one in each hand. It was...harder than she thought it would be. Cake doesn't always stay in one piece, like a loaf of bread. It tends to crumble, sort of like cornbread...which is bread, but you know what I mean. Because of that, there was the challenge of not making a mess and splattering it on her clothes. That was probably something she was supposed to avoid doing anyway. After all, if she wasn't eating it, it didn't really count, did it?

Still, a good first round for the two of them. Unfortunately, soon they would have to start to test their endurance...or just eat the cake as fast as possible. That was also an option.1d20+2·1d20

As Rosalina started the countdown, Jr leaned over his cake, getting into position. As soon as he heard the fireworks pop from Rosalina's wand, he dived right in, quickly reaching for the cake in front of him and grabbing a piece with each hand, hurriedly shoving both into his mouth so his hands would be free for the next few bites. This was easy! He could do this all day.

Meanwhile, Yuumi was having just as good of a time. The cake might not have been fish flavored like she wanted it to be, but once Rosalina gave a signal, she launched herself at the cake just as fast as Jr did. Book went flying out from underneath her, almost falling off the table as Yuumi's paws pushed it out from under her. Book's furious page rustling went ignored by the magical cat, though. There was cake to be had!

...Wait, that voice--Dawn froze and stopped to stare as Cynthia sat down, a lump suddenly forming in her throat as the immensely larger girl sat next to her. Now, Dawn wasn't an expert on biology but she was pretty sure being half Cynthia's size reflected upon the size of her stomach somehow. More than that though, she abruptly realized she'd be eating in front of friends. “--O-Oh hey, Cynthia... You're here too?” she somewhat timidly asked. Cynthia looked so prepared... Was she about to find out a dark secret about the nature of Cynthia's table manners? Was Cynthia about to find out a dark secret about hers?! Oh Arceus, this was her own personal hell. Dawn promptly yelped as an invisible force yanked at her hair. She then lost her balance and flailed about, falling over backward as her hair was pulled by the invisible force. She landed on her back, legs draped over her seat. “Ow...” Dawn blurted out, picking herself up and brushing herself off, idly fixing her hair for a moment before moving to sit back down. She then sat back down and anxiously smiled at Cynthia. “Whoops... I guess we're competitors, then. I hope you don't mind if I eat a lot.” she meekly explained.

As the cakes came out, Dawn hesitates a moment as she realizes there's no fork. Huh?? She looked around for a moment before realizing her mistake.

“...Alright. I guess I'll do all the eating.” Mary replied somewhat hesitantly. She wasn't too concerned about the rules herself, but she wasn't going to push the issue. A group of six somewhat scrawny looking kids that look like they are wearing old and worn out clothes arrives to join Mary and rose, ranging from Mary's age to early teenagers. They begin digging into their own cakes, enjoying themselves immensely. Mary smiled for a moment, knowing she'd helped them, before turning to dig in for herself!

Quite the contrary to literally everyone else there, Shadow felt annoyed rather than excited as the princess counted down. His eyes were set on a cake directly in front of him, and he decided that would be his target. The hedgehog leered at the cake with rage. It was a very pretty cake. Someone must've worked really hard making that cake as pretty as possible. It probably existed within the last few hours and that would've included the time it existed before having frosting on it. Shadow wasn't particularly aware of what it took to bake a cake, but those he knew could bake a cake told him it could be really hard.

And what was all that hard work for? For the cake to be eaten. Eaten. Torn apart and destroyed.

As far as Shadow understood, all of that hard work was for naught. Everyone here was there to destroy someone else's hard work, and... Well, yeah, that's what they wanted, but it seemed like a waste of their time. A waste of the baker's time, a waste of the princess's time, and a waste of the competitor's time. With the exception of a handful of people that lived in the life sphere, the cake wasn't even good for anyone.

...Okay, maybe that part wasn't helpful in his cause but the rest of it caused a bit of a fire to burn in Shadow. If there was one thing Shadow hated, it was a waste of time. And he signed up for it! How did he not realize how stupid this was until now?! Whatever. The moment the princess shouted go, Shadow ran right for the cake he was glaring at, grabbed two handfuls of the stuff and shoved one of them in his mouth. Shadow was eating the cake like a maniac, not because he liked it, but because the rage he felt compelled him to destroy these stupid cakes.

If anyone noticed Shadow just eating the cake, they might get the impression that he actually liked it. However, if you looked at his face, you could see the anger mixed with disgust with his eyes. He absolutely hated this, but he was gonna make the cake pay for it anyway.

Then the cake appeared and despite her initial excitement she paused... the sweets were laid in front of her yet she paused to look around... Everyone else was eating excitedly but she gave a moment to observe their faces. She was half-expecting there to be a trick... But after a moment she was satisfied there was in fact no lie. Looking back the cake did look like the most delicious slice she's ever seen... Maybe it was just being cake deprived so long. Her mind drifts back to GLaDOS with small confliction before she started chowing down at... stunning speed for someone initially hesitant. Almost more animal than human when it came to eating Chell was.

Show them that a dragon's appetite is unmatched," a voice in her head encouraged... she hardly noticed it, almost like it was on the edge of her mind than on the front. However her eyes visually changed to blue as her Draconic emotions were growing stronger than her human ones. With little mercy for the cake she took in quite a large amount as well... Seeming to challenge Chell's own display of animalistic gluttony. Thank goodness no one she knew was here.

Miah took a deep breath as she eyed the cake in front of her. She didn't say much. There was no one here that she recogni- Wait, was that the hedgehog she'd brought back from the mirage? She hadn't expected him to be here, didn't seem the type to join in on something like this. Maybe he was treating himself, like she was? Regardless, he was another opponent, one that would likely beat her. She wasn't hopeful that she was going to win this, she was rather frail after all.

"Pokemon Battling isnt my only passion, You know~" Cynthia would say as a teasing jest to Dawn. "Though, I find  this one to be much more delicious~!" Cynthia would claim, Scooting just a biiit closer to Dawn...This time, Looking deeper to her, as Cynthia's Protective aura was growing stronger. Was she trying to Warn off that dark aura around Dawn? Possibly so!

She was a princess after all, She cant eat under that condition! Zelda's embarrassment also seemed to be holding her back quite a bit in this scenario, as she simply kept on chugging, Gulping her mouthful of cake. There was such a desire to use some magic to get into a new form to catch up, Buuut, She had to play fair...

[Nostalgia]

So the first few seconds of cake eating had begun! A late-coming ape crashing in at the very last moment and making a few of the Lumas around the room jump in surprise. Rosalina however was caught up in the anticipation, only noticing Donkey Kong as the fireworks finished fizzling out around her. When she did notice she was a bit surprised, but his apology helped, the cosmic princess smiling to them and bowing their head slightly in appreciation of the compliment.

Turning back to look over the whole group again Rosalina giggled to herself listening to some of their little self pep talks, though also a bit impressed as she noted everyone's progress "It looks like everyone is going all out to get the competition started off! And we've already got a few pulling ahead, but will their early rush come back and give them a tummy ache later on? We'll see!"

The Luma's meanwhile were bouncing excitedly along the edges of the room, the names being called out starting to get more distinct as they chose front runners and underdogs alike! "Did that cat already eat 3 slices of cake?!" "Go Dawn!" "You can do it Chell!" "Don't give up Zelda!" "Look at Draco go!"

But not all of the Lumas were quite so captivated, a few of them trying to sneak around and play while Rosalina was looking in another direction at other contestants! A little group of Lumas suddenly floated along under the rows of tables, bumping into people's legs and chairs!

As Jr reached for his third bite of cake, he felt a rattle underneath him as the Luma knocked against the chairs and tables Grasping the seat of his chair with both claws, Jr tries to keep himself steady. Shaking around this much wouldn't exactly help in keeping his appetite, so he attempts to anchor his chair to the ground as much as he can. He wasn't all that successful, however, his chair jostling around quite a bit.

As Yuumi got to her feet, a small gurgle and a shot of pain from her belly almost knocked her off again. Seems like eating that much cake that quickly was upsetting the small kitty's stomach something awful. Crouching down on her haunches, Yuumi almost curled into a ball, waiting for the pain to go away.
