Just then, the sound of a familiar scream would reach the duo's ears.

As they go to investigate, they encounter a giant floating flame! A creature that would likely present problems trying to whack at it with a pan or eat it. It is currently chasing Mary's friends around.

...All of them. It seemed they'd managed to find a way out of the subway while Mary was gone. This ember, however, was threatening to burn them to a crisp, leaving trails of green fire in its wake as it swooped down toward them! It didn't seem like they could outrun it either. They were doomed!

“--That sounds like Carol!” Mary blurted out, suddenly drawn back to their search and rescue. As they arrive at the flame, Mary's eyes widen in horror at the concept of a giant living fireball chasing her friends around. She didn't even begin to know what to do about that. Rose, however, had an idea. She grabbed one of the eggs she'd laid not long before and chucked it at the ember with the force of a missile, followed quickly by a couple of more, just trying to get its attention.

The eggs popped with a satisfyingly violent force on impact. Once she saw the ember begin to stop focusing on the children and turn upon her, she grabbed the giant egg she'd laid using the Fat Guy and tossed it at the ember. This one popped with spectacular force

Wham! The Phantom Ember was blown far and wide away by the giant egg, leaving Mary and Rose to collect their friends. Miraculously, they all seemed to be okay in spite of the intense danger they'd been in! ...Albeit, some of them were very, very sore and a little sick, But they'd recover. All that was left was for them to find safety.

...The group manages to make it to the life sphere before anyone falls to the infection. Lead by Mary and Rose, they follow the giant glowing energy dome on the horizon after they get to a point where they see and notice it.

Once they found the life sphere and determined it was a safe place to take shelter, a question occured to Mary--though she didn't phrase it as one. “...You need a place to stay too, right? You can stay with us if you want~!” Mary fondly offered. (--Yes please! I could really use a friend that can speak the language.) Rose enthusiastically replied, doing a little dance of approval for Mary. Mary giggled at the display. “...Thanks. I really enjoy your company too.” she fondly replied.

They'd insisted on staying together in an apartment. Who allowed that? No idea.
