Sadly, 'Magdeline' couldn't leave just yet due to shenanigans on the part of one overly obese being who called himself the god of death. "Error, unable to exit. Unit Thanatos, refrain from obstruction of catching culprits or you will be placed under arrest." She said, her eyes giving Thanatos a piercing look, always a warning sign to anyone That she was not kidding.

This was eventually further exacerbated by Shade's Volcarona of all things, preventing further backup from The Goomba's bodyguards.

"This is now becoming an uncomfortable situation, despite odds being in our favor, further obstruction will not be tolerated. Ether energy levels sufficient enough to commence with combat, and will proceed with eliminating threats." she added, her eyes now turning from red to blue, another warning sign that tells people to back the hell away from her unless they were extremely masochistic and wanted to be obliterated via ether deprivation.

“Oho so you’ve heard of me~?” Thanatos’ big blue lips curved up into an excited smile at Linne's deduction. “…What did they tell you?” He squinted suspiciously. “Sounds like you flunked mythology sweetie. What evidence do you have that I’m the assassin?” He chuckled haughtily. “If it were up to me, I would still be lurking in the shadows, just beyond the peripheral gaze, hiding in plain sight, around every corner, under every floor, behind every wheel, over every ceiling above your head...” His voice took a tone for the darker and eerier, growing cold enough to pierce like an icicle. “…Silently awaiting the instant you are the least careful.”

“Today my assassin the justice bench~! Hoohoohoo how unjust of me~!” Thanatos giggled in his usual falsetto, flexing his tremendous butt muscles to make the chair creak like rusted wood. “See, I’m simply here to judge your souls once you’ve been properly assassinated.” He politely elaborated. “The justice is swift in the Court of the Underworld, I am the lawyers and judge all in one! We like to get the trail over with quickly, because it’s the Sentence that’s really the fun~!” He whimsically twirled his gavel.
“And it looks like you two face a sentence of…Wow this is a really long sentence: Life imprisonment without the possibility of parole-Oh excuse me wrong politician’s sentence.” He sheepishly flipped the page. “Ah, yours is much shorter: Death.” He punctuated with a light tap of the gavel. “Volcarona, darling, would you do the honors? By the way you reserve the right to Reapette. Should you not afford the right to a Reapette, one will be provided for you under federal Underworld law.” He read the rights to the executioner instead of the defendants.
“Ah strike that, it sounds like RoboCop over there’s Out of Order.” His deathly gaze turned to Magdeline before trying to reproduce a drum set rim shot with his gabble.
“Looks like I have no choice but to step in, out of Contempt of Court!”
He leaped off the judge’s bench and landed in the air, levitating before the trio…with the chair still clenched onto his molded rear.

‘The whole courtroom shtick was getting pretty old anyway.” He shrugged, already bored of the act. “What’s say we just Cut to the chase~?”
He punned, transforming into a set of swords. “Just what this game needs more of, amirite~?”

The whimsical musings of Thanatos seemed to fall on deaf ears when concerning The Goomba. Assuming he had the ability to look amused, it was certainly not on display here. The Goomba took the time that Thanatos was rambling to stretch his biceps and roll his shoulders so that they were in peak position for the ensuing battle. As Thanatos opened himself for attack though, it was his time to go on the offensive. The Goomba rushed forward, deflecting the Gaskull off his bubble shield and continued to ram forward like a bullet train. The Goomba twisted himself so that his shoulder and huge bicep was acting as a plow.

As the Goomba rushed whatever form of Thanatos that he took. As he prepared to mow the God of Death down, he proclaimed “The Goomba has a new bill to push.” As he trampled down whatever was in his path he ceased his trampling and cracked his knuckles. “It’s called pain.”

Like a proper executioner in Thanatos’s little drama, Volcarona retained a cold manner on its expressionless face, though assuming that Shade and his Pokemon were playing along in Thanatos’s skit would not be incredibly accurate. Volcarona was subtly swaying about almost rhythmically. It looked like it was dancing, performing a dance that only a butterfly could perform (despite it being a moth). An eerie glow radiated off the insectoid as it was complete, following Thanatos’s reading of its rights as an executioner, almost like it was on cue.

The fiery moth’s wings suddenly burst into flames. It continued to ascend to the highest point in the room and then honed its vision on the duo of investigators. With one mighty swoop, the insect darted toward ‘Magdeline’ and released the fury of her engulfed wings upon her, drenching the foe in flames as she twirled to release them.

The heat upon Volcarona’s body was still pulsing with power, so she immediately turned about to face Linne and decided to shave off some excess heat. Flapping its wings and fluttering some moth dust into the air, Volcarona turned up the temperature in the spot where Linne was standing. It quickly became a sweltering heat, enough to bake a creature alive.

Magdeline was wholly prepared for this instance, as considering the annihilation of Zarathustra was nothing compared to the fact that she was not amused by the portly green-skinned monstrosity that was Thanatos, and promptly dodged the smokey skull that was sent her way.

The attack from the Volcarona however would suddenly catch the combat android by surprise as she dodged right into it's flight path, and it attempted to strike her with a fiery dance, thankfully the android managed to dodge back to being in the Line of sight against Thanatos, who would most likely be the main concern.

Linne chose to ignore most of Thanatos' ramblings. A crazed God of death was one she wasn't interested in dying to, and she had better things to do than worry about what he had to say. His thinly veiled threat got a snarl out of her, but even that was enough to deter her. His transforming into a sword wasn't unexpected, however it certainly raised a problem. How the hell was she supposed to damage him? Surely she couldn't just strike a blade with her own, that would be highly ineffective, no matter how she sliced. Speaking of slicing...

She smoothly slid under the first slice, but failed to anticipate the second. He had better control of himself when transformed than she thought, and he managed to knick her as she tried to dodge away, his sword sliding through the skin of her cheek and drawing blood. Just a scratch, but first blood was first blood, and it told her to move back faster, darting backwards away from the final slice. This raised an issue... And her problems weren't done yet. She had to strike while she had a chance, but how? She was down a weapon, and wouldn't be half as effective, thanks to this little ambush. Her mind ran wild, before settling on one answer. They needed back up. She dashed away from Thanatos, and decided to focus on one thing- Making as much noise as possible. She SLAMMED into the metal blocking the door as fast as she could, almost blinking out of sight for a brief moment, before jumping back. Hopefully that was enough to let the chief of police know what was going on. Suddenly, she found herself growing... Hotter. poop, the moth, she forgot about it!

The Goomba made a lot of unlikely things happen during his tenure as mayor. One of them, bringing a fist to a knife fight and succeeding.
“Bill's painfully pushy~” A dazed sword quipped as he tried to pull himself free from the book case he was lodged into. “Is That why it's so hard to pass Bullet Bill legislation?” He asked with a shrug, breaking free from the wedge by returning to base form. He might have wanted to hold back on that, or transformed faster, as his big bloated belly was shot through with an X-Buster.
“If only it passed through the House and Senate this easily!” Thanatos gasped at the gaping hole where his belly used to be. “It would reduce so much unnecessary death~” He punned further, modeling his new figure for himself, seemingly to his own approval.

This impromptu modeling show was interrupted by a loud metal banging sound that reminded Thanatos that he was in the middle of a fight.
“Do not ask for whom the bell tolls, little froggy...” Thanatos mused, transforming his head into a ringing bell for emphasis.
“You'll just annoy the bats in the belfry! Hoohoohoo~!” He laughed jovially as he disappeared up into his bell, cracking it open to unleash a swarm of bats onto Linne.

The fire continued to pulse off the mighty moth’s wings. Eager to release more heat upon her foes, Volcarona circled back around to rain fiery upon them. Unfortunately, this hasty action put the creature directly into Magdeline’s line of fire. The cannon blasts struck the insect and electrified it directly to its core, static mixing with the flames that surrounded its body. It shrieked in pain, slowly descending from the sky due to its stiff joints.

While she was not as swift as she once was, her power boost from her Quiver Dance was enough to make the difference so that she was acting on moderate speed, which seemed to be enough to barrel roll away from Linne’s Moon Gyre and out maneuver her Tenacious mist, though just barely.

Once she was in the clear though, the bug came to rest, perching upon one of The Goomba’s upper book shelves to stretch out her wings. She only had one person to blame for her stiffness, thus she was ready to release her wraith upon them. Suddenly, her antennae began to glow and radiate like two suns at the sides of her head. The flames exploded with power, rushing forth like a tsunami of fire directly towards the machine that blighted her.

The fire radiating off Volcarona’s body dimmed for the time being, but that didn’t mean that she was done yet. The moth turned its attention to Linne, summoning strength from elsewhere to strike at the girl. An ear-piercing screech rattled out of Volcarona’s mandible and the soundwaves rebounded in Linne’s direction.

When Linne slammed against the door, it was answered with another slam back. Not a particularly strong one though. In fact, listening to the door, it seemed that there was another situation going on outside the office as well.

The Goomba continued to remain unamused by Thanatos’s quips. In fact, The Goomba’s unamused levels lowered with every joke that the God made, as if his brow and frown could sink deeper than they already were. As the skull tumbled toward The Goomba, he pulled his glove off and smacked the object right back at his foe. “The Goomba refuses to acknowledge your retorts” he added curmudgeonly.

The Goomba hopped backwards, landing squarely on his desk. He prepared a lunge, staring directly at Thanatos. “Prepare to be removed from office” he muttered as he leapt into the air.

Just as The Goomba was in mid-jump though, Volcarona launched from its resting position and shot towards him, ramming him out of the sky. Right as the duo collided though, a burst of black energy crashed through the boarded-up window. The stream of energy radiated yellow light despite being black at its core and took the shape of an arrow. It struck the Pokemon directly, its body flashing brightly before solidifying into a trophy and plummeting to the ground. The Goomba crashed to the ground but looked to the hole the wall. His levels of unamusedness were going off the charts.

Through the hole in the building, the group could see Waluigi holding a smoking, but unidentified cannon upon his shoulder. “WHAAAH! I missed!” he feigned disappointment. “Oh well! Like shooting Cheep Cheep in a barrel!” he added as he prepped the device to fire another shot.

Shade launched himself out of the shadow, landing next to his Pokemon’s side. Touching the creature in this form he could tell this was no mere trophification. “We were betrayed” the Pokemon trainer rasped as he looked to Thanatos.

Three more figures rose around the mouth of the hole in the wall, the light revealing them to be Dark Samus, Ghirahim, and a Hammer Bro. “Whah hah ha ha! Keep ‘em inside!” the beanpole chuckled as he slapped the weapon on his shoulder.

Dark Samus rose, three electric orbs generating from its body and launched toward Linne. The creature then lifelessly directed its cannon toward The Goomba and unleashed a blast of Phazon directly at him.

Electro Orbs: Three orbs are summoned, each dealing 6%, every orb that hits will give the next orb a +1 to accuracy. WIS.

The man cartwheeled into the office and rushed at ‘Magdeline’ with his sword and slashed at her side.

The Hammer Bro immediately retreated into its shell and launched at The Goomba, attempting to go straight through the mayor and pop right back out of his shell once he was behind him. After he succeeded, he pulled out his trusty hammer and pelted The Goomba on the back of the head.

Magdeline would still be unamused at the death god's humorous quips as she dodged the skull that came her way.

However, rather than dodge the overheat, the android promptly put up her bubble Shield, which took the form of the original Zohar, to nullify the damage!

She would then take notice of the energy beam as it struck down the Volcarona, and immediately looked out the window to find a culprit on the roof of a building. Magdeline said as her visor dropped down over her eyes, the purple perp did not know of anyone who could scan techniques, nor did they know of the effective range of their ability to scan.

They did know however send their minions to keep them inside while he prepared to fire another shot. "This unit suggests that previous adversaries now focus on new target enemies." she stated as Ghirahim came at her with a sword slash.

The scan results came back positive as the U.M.N. suddenly materialized the very weapon that Waluigi had in his hands, bewildered; she would address The Goomba. "Mayor The Goomba, might I inquire about what this is?" she kindly asked during the fight, clearly not wanting to use it if it is too dangerous.

From bad to worse, things are always BAD TO WORSE. Linne cursed under her breath. Could nothing ever be EASY for once? First a bunch of SWORDS, and now a bunch of BATS! She hated bats! Their annoying little screeches, and the noise their wings make both got under her skin in ways few things did. On the bright side it would be easier to cut flesh than metal, but it was still infuriating, as with the smaller mass size it would be harder to land a HIT! Oh, and they were going for her. Of course they were.

Man she hated bats. Linne immediately back off when she threw out her sloppy slice, she needed to collect herself. She began analyzing the situation once more. The mayor was handling himself quite well, but this was still an ambush in an enclosed space, while fighting a being with clearly excellent control over flame. There was a hole in the ceiling, but there just wasn't enough EXS in the area to risk making a run for No Name. If there was another foe in the vicinity that might make enough of a difference, but- There was another slam on the metal divider. It would appear their back up was having just as much of a bad time as they were. This was planned from start to finish. But who? Who would send assassins in like this? As she pondered, she watched her foes, and that's when the moth did something unexpected... That piercing screech!

Linne immediately covered her ears, but it wasn't enough. That damn screech hurt like hell! "Nnngh! W-Why yooou...!" This was a bad day. And as usual, bad days have a habit of going from bad to even worse. An ambush on top of an ambush. AN AMBUSH. ON TOP OF AN AMBUSH. This is getting ridiculous! "So the ambush was a distraction for an ambush... This is getting ridiculous." She turned to the mysterious trainer. "You. You say you've been betrayed. If that's the case, then I'll deal with you later. It fits, considering it looks like we've found a case of "Trophy Lock". Am I wrong?" It's the only thing that fit. The mysterious trainer had attempted to release the moth from its trophy, and failed. So, Trophy Lock was the logical conclusion.

But, she didn't have time to dwell on that, there were other assassins to deal with, starting with the strange creature firing plasma her way.

She channeled EXS into her body, and immediately darted onto the bookshelf, before BLASTING out through the ceiling. She had one objective in mind. GET. NO NAME. Hopefully her foes didn't decide to get in her way, but just for good measure, she through out two Sky Fangs at Waluigi.
