Midna tried to jump out of the way of the Stalfos' blade, but it was surprisingly quicker then her, and the sword left a nasty gash on her arm.

And while she was preoccupied with that, a crushing blow hit her side as the Gibdo also got a hit in. Midna sighed in exasperation. This was going to be much harder then she thought.
Suddenly, a shriek cut through the air and Midna was suddenly paralyzed with fright. A redead slowly shuffled toward her with the intent to bite, but just before he could get to her, a crystalline barrier formed around her, blocking the redead's advances.

As the barrier shattered and the pieces flew toward the stunned redead, Midna processed what just happened. Was that connected to the power that Zelda had given her? With no time to think about it now, Midna  focused on the horde of undead. A dark circle slowly grew under her feet and soon encircled any zombies within 12 feet. With a simple gesture, Midna unleashed a blast of Twili energy over the whole horde

Undeterred by her lackluster attack, Midna readied a ball of magic, and threw it toward the horde

Midna's attacks were ... surprisingly effective! Or well, the second one was. Her magic bowled over one of the zombies, knocking it to the ground and singeing a couple of its partners, who promptly began to close in on Midna again. The stalfos and its gibdo knight friend brandished their blades, intend on not only preventing Midna from reaching the royal grave but in finding the other intruder Midna had left behind. The stalfos circled around Midna, using its speed to try and put her in an awkward position. It then lunged forward to try and stab at her side with its blade. At the same time, the gibdo knight pulled back in an attempt to whack Midna with its sword again. Hopefully she would fare better this time, lest she not survive long enough to see Zelda again.

The undead's mind tricks weren't going to work on Midna twice, no sir! Midna jumped clear of both swords this time, and turned to face the entire horde. She put two fingers to her throat, and on her skin appeared a sigil . The sign of the Cucco!

(Midna has used the Birdsbane! Allow's her to control bird-related enemies with her voice, and call upon the voice of the Cucco queen as an attack.)

Facing the undead horde once again, Midna began to speak to their masses. "Creatures of death and darkness, hear my voice! I give you one chance. Leave this castle alone!"

The last few words made the castle's very walls shake with there power. As Midna spoke, the power of the Cucco Queen filled her voice. Narrowing her eyes, Midna gave an deafening shout, which sounded more like a very loud chicken cluck. Whatever it was, it was strong enough to throw the zombies against the back wall of the enclosed graveyard.

A waver in the air rippled out through the hallway, violently shattering the gibdo's and the stalfos' bodies as it passed through them. A brief tingling sensation is felt emanating outward from Midna's heart, the sensation of a kindred spirit resonating with her own. It felt... familiar somehow, from the time Zelda's and Midna's souls had briefly become one when Zelda made all but the ultimate sacrifice to save her. Could it be possible that some aspect of her being remembered that intimacy, even after they'd separated? ...Thoughts of the past and heartfelt emotions aside, there was a grave to save. Midna could now enter the courtyard. Once there, she is immediately ambushed by two redeads! One of them attempts to petrify her with their stare, allowing the second to jump onto her back and begin biting at her! Meanwhile, a stalfos rushes and attempts to take advantage of this by going for Midna's legs with its blade!

With every undead entity in the hall crumbled under the power of her voice, Midna rushed into the courtyard. Inside she found, to her not-surprise, more zombies. Two of them, both redeads, ambushed her as soon as she set foot in the yard.

Midna tried looking away from the redead, but his gaze was just to powerful. The other redead started gnawing on the back of her head, but Midna was completely paralyzed, so she couldn't shake it off. 
Things took a turn for the worse when Midna saw another stalfos, rushing toward her with it's sword sweeping low. Midna glared at it as much as she could, but the skeletal warrior didn't notice, and she was powerless to stop the blade from swinging toward her legs.

As the undead's attacks struck her again and again, Midna finally managed to break free of the redead's intense stare. Dropping to her knees, Midna glared up at her attackers. Without a word, she silently began to throw balls of magic at each of them.

All three of the undead around Midna were broken as magic struck them, just ort of folding over as their rotten bodies gave way to the twili's fury. Yet, she wasn't finished yet. Suddenly, one of the burrowing zombies burst from the ground to greet her! And also eat her. It seemed that most of the undead here wanted a taste of royalty. Hopefully, none of them found Zelda. Speaking of Zelda though, the rather rude zombie grabbed at Midna's shoulders as it tried to rapidly scale her body, only for a burst of magic to erupt from her chest and blast it away!

((Nayru' love has returned to give Midna a break!))

...But as the redead fell back to the ground, torn apart by the remnants of Zelda's magic, something terrible happened. Graves began to upturn, corpses rising from them and glaring at Midna. The graveyard was succumbing to infection! In particular, a gibdo knight watched Midna warily from near the royal grave. It was shedding starvia bugs rather heavily. A horrific site might result if it managed to infect Zelda's parents. That particular zombie might be the most dangerous at that moment. However, it wasn't attacking her. The others, though, would move to begin stalking Midna, trying to get in and claw at her body rather viciously. Thankfully they weren't able to take Midna by surprise, giving her more time to react.

Despite Midna seeing the zombies attack her, Midna, for some reason, didn't make an effort to move. The zombies sharp, boney claws shredded at Midna's dress, scratching her legs. Not something that would heal any time soon.  But Midna had other things on her mind. The reason she didn't bother to avoid the other zombies was that she was focusing on the large gibdo knight. If that thing made it to the royal grave, all of Midna's efforts would be for nothing.

Not about to let Zelda down, Midna sprung into action. First, broadening her focus, she needed to clear the area.

Now that the way forward was a bit clearer, Midna took aim at the gibdo knight with another ball of magic, just to get it's attention

Midna smirked "Yeah, I hope that hurt. The next shot's gonna hit harder" she taunted the gibdo. If it's attention was on her, it wasn't on the grave. It's a risky move, but Midna saw no other choice

Midna was able to clear a path for herself forward and successfully grabbed the gibdo's attention. The only problem with that was that she was now surrounded by zombies with plenty of strength left to spite her for her efforts. They began to stalk Midna, growling aggressively as they cut off her escape. It would become readily apparent that, in her wounded state, Midna had made a very brave... mistake. She wouldn't last a moment out here. The wind rather abruptly picked up, followed quickly by the crackle of thunder not far off. A sudden onset thunderstorm had arrived! How bizarre... Stepping forward, the undead viciously attacked Midna from all sides, attempting to hack her to pieces!

...If Midna were perceptive, she might catch sight of something odd near the entrance to the graveyard. A figure stood there in the darkness, watching. One could observe them drawing a blade that looked somewhat familiar. Was that the master sword?? The figure raised the blade to the sky, only for lightning to reach down and strike it on the tip, briefly illuminating the figure as the blade became electrically charged. Link, was that you??

Midna rushed toward the Gibdo Knight, but she was stopped by hordes of redeads, gibdos, and other undead foulness. Unable to stop herself, Midna ran headlong into the crowd of undead, with predictable results. Sword slices slashed her from all sides, until Midna managed to back up out of the crowd. Unfortunately, more zombies had flanked around her, blocking her only route of escape.

Fortunately, Midna spotted a hole in their defences, and managed to squeeze out of the crowd. Still, this is bad. Midna wasn't sure how much more punishment she was able to take, and if she fell here, it was only a matter of time before the zombies not only completely infected the grave, but find Zelda as well. What was Midna to do? She couldn't just leave, but if she stayed, she'd undoubtedly get hacked to pieces 

As if the golden goddesses themselves were showing her an answer, lightning suddenly it up the whole courtyard. In the brief flash, Midna could just make out a figure standing near the graveyard entrance. She squinted, and could see the figure hold up.....was that the Master Sword? Was that.....?

No. The figure was to short to be him. But she still looked familiar.....

"Th-Thunder!!" the apprentice mage's voice shouted. with quite a few of the undead gathered around where Midna had been moments before, it would be simple enough to take a few of them out with a simple precision strike. And that strike came in the form of a bolt of lightning that dropped from the sky as Arle brought her free hand down like a hammer toward the ground.

...The explosive shockwave the lightning bolt generated on impact would likely heavily disorientate Midna, perhaps even throwing her a few feet back--or to the ground if she couldn't levitate through it. Frankly, that was a horrifying amount of power, the kind that made you really thankful you weren't a bit closer because all of those zombies that had been surrounding Midna? They just kind of disintegrated, leaving only smoldering, burning piles of enemy matter in their wake. Are you sure she's not 'your type', phosphora? ...Because she's doing a decent imitation! Badumtish. ...A half fried zombie struggled its way toward Midna...

...But was promptly dismembered by a flying shockwave that really put the 'shock' in its namesake, launched with a swing of Arle's blade. A deathly quiet would fall over the graveyard, only the pitter patter of rain crashing down as the echoing crackle of magical thunder died off. The blue clad mage took a deep breath and stood up straight, squirming a bit as the rain had begun to soak through her clothes. She clearly didn't like getting all wet that much, but who did? Discomfort aside though, she rushed out to greet Midna. "H-Hey... are you alright? I heard all the commotion and figured they must've found something alive." Arle began, a tad bashful addressing Midna. The taller woman had a certain alien beauty that humbled her with its presence. "Healing." Arle incanted, moving to heal some of Midna's wounds. Well, she seemed pretty nice in spite of the brutal power she'd demonstrated earlier. She was a lot gentler with Midna, full of concern for the other's wellbeing.

As Midna debated whether to stay or not, the mysterious figure took action. The thunderstorm that was brewing before started blowing intensely, and Midna's new ally  dropped what seemed like the entire storm on the undead horde. The blast was so powerful it threw Midna back several feet, and her vision began to blur. When it cleared again, the horde of zombies were gone, reduced to piles of ash. Standing over her was a girl who Midna didn't recognize, although, given that she was healing her, she was probably not a threat.

"Th-thank you" Midna said. She felt some of her wounds healing. It wasn't a total fix, but it would have to do for now. "I'm fine now, thanks to you. If you had not arrived, I surely would have perished." Midna stopped for a bit before realizing she was breathing heavily. Probably had something to do with trying to take down an entire horde of zombies by herself. She mentally calmed herself down. The danger had passed, she was safe, and-

"Wait, Zelda!" Midna suddenly yelled out. Zelda was still in the well, lying there for who knew how long. They had to get to her and tend to her wounds! Midna turned to her newfound ally. "I came here with someone else, but she was injured very badly. I hid her in the castle, hoping the zombies wouldn't find her. Please follow me!" Midna hurriedly turned around and  ran back toward the entrance to the castle, hoping her new friend would follow her.

Arriving at the kitchen where Zelda was hidden, Midna looked around. Peering down the old well, Midna called out for the princess. "Zelda, I'm back. The grave is safe, thanks to my new friend"

Arle hurriedly followed Zelda, not wasting any time in moving out of the rain. Man, the rod of seasons was turning out to be very useful! ...Also wet. Very wet. Chasing Midna back to the castle kitchen, she looked about in confusion. Why, she didn't see Zelda anywhere! Could there be a closet space somewhere around here? It didn't seem like any of the doors were really 'intact' for the most part. That was when Midna approached the well. ...No way. "--She's in the well??" Arle blurted out in shock, rushing to peek over the edge. Zelda's dress was stained with blood by now, drawing a wince from Arle. However, the princess was still clinging to consciousness. Barely. "O-Oh wow... I don't know if I can heal that." Arle anxiously lamented. In reality, she suspected she might actually be able to. However, it would take quite a long time during which any number of things could go wrong. Worst of which, she could run out of mana. Wait--Oops. Shouldn't have said that in front of the dying person. She didn't want Zelda to panic.

Meanwhile, Zelda deliriously raised her head to look up at Midna from the bottom of the well. She felt cold. So very cold... She could barely keep herself in a sitting position due to a wave of nausea and weakness passing over her. At this point even if she still had her legs, she wouldn't have been able to walk. "I'm... still alive." she softly replied. "Who..?" Zelda went on to ask, but her voice was wracked with weakness and she trailed off. A part of her hoped it was Link, the only other person she knew to have survived. It was a rather unlikely thing to hope for, but then again who else had a reason to visit this wretched place? "Oh--My name's Arle. Sorry about that. I think I can help. We just need to get you back to the hospital." the short apprentice mage replied rather awkwardly before turning to address Midna. "You can get her back out, right..? she whispered somewhat anxiously. Hesitating a moment, Arle produced a familiar badge she'd had pinned to her cloak. "...You're Midna,
right? I've been trying to return this for a while now. I think it got given to me on accident..?" Arle would bashfully explain, holding out a familiar zap tap badge. It seemed like she may have initially come here looking for Midna.

Midna breathed a sighed of relief when she heard Zelda's voice. "Oh, thank the goddesses" she breathed. Zelda was still alive, and once she gets out of that well, Midna could transport her to get medical attention.



"We'll be able to get her out easily. I'll lower you into the well so you can grab Zelda. Once you get her out to the well, I can transport all of us back to the Life Sphere." Midna instructed Arle. She went to prepare the rope and bucket, when she noticed Arle holding something out to her. "Hmm? What's this?" Midna asked. She took the badge from Arle and looked it over. Sure enough, just as Arle said, it was something that Midna had seen before.

It was the Zap Tap Badge that she had gotten from a mirage portal once."That was supposed to go to someone else." Midna said to Arle. "Stupid Goomba" she added under her breath. She took the badge, tucked it into her robe, and continued to work.

Once the rope and bucket were ready, Midna turned to Arle. "Alright, you get in the bucket and help Zelda in. I'll be able to pull you back out, and we'll be able to get Zelda to the hospital."

GET IN THE BUCKET ARLIE

Arle hesitated for a moment. She seemed a little anxious about the idea being presented to her. Letting a stranger lower you into a well and trusting them to get you out was pretty... intense, to say the least of it. Dangerous was more apt. No one wanted to be stuck in a well but, unfortunately, it was a bit late for that. After a moment's thought, Arle found it in her heart to trust Midna with her safety and shifted to curl up in the bucket without protest. Hah. She was a small mage that sort of fit in a bucket. Thankfully, that also meant she was pretty light-weight as far as people went. Even with that armor on, she weighed barely a hundred pounds! ...What did that say about her eating habits? "Ready." the mage anxiously remarked. Soon she was in the well, and had grabbed Zelda to lift her up and put her in the bucket. Goodness! Zelda looked terrible! If she were just about anyone else from the Magical Girl's Society seeing Zelda drenched in her own blood would've caused her to freak out or scream or something. Thankfully though, Arle was weirdly well-adjusted to gore and was more bothered by what it symbolized--a dying person. With a gentle tug, she called back up to Midna.

"R-Ready!!" she shouted. She resigned to waiting down in the well while Zelda was pulled up. Zelda was a bit heavier, but that wasn't saying much.

When Arle signaled her, Midna slowly lowered her into the well. She was pretty light, all things considered, so Midna didn't have much trouble. A little while later, Midna felt a small tug on the rope, and she hauled Zelda out of the well

As she helped Zelda out of the bucket, Midna got a good look at her for the first time in a while. By the goddesses, Zelda looked terrible. Her dress was covered in blood, and she looked very pale. Midna was glad she was at least safe, for now. The sooner that she got medical attention, the better.

Once Zelda was out, Midna lowered the bucket again so se could get Arle back out of the well. While she wait for Arle to be ready, she turned to Zelda. "Don't worry Zelda, as soon as I get Arle out of the well, we'll all be headed straight to the Life Sphere. We'll get you help there." Midna reassured her. Not that Zelda had much energy to panic, but Midna wanted her to know that she was safe.
